I have tried searching, and haven't been having much luck.
With a phone as advanced as this, why is having voice dialing WITH voice-to-text recognition such an issue? My Verizon V710 had true voice dialing with back in 2004!
From what I've been able to garner, true voice dialing is pretty rare with the GSM market, but with a PPC phone, there should be some option.
Before the Tilt, my Blackberry Pearl had voice recognition, but it barely worked. What do I need to install on my Tilt (using the latest Dutty Tilt version TouchFlo ROM) to have this feature? It is beyond me why a phone nowadays would not have this feature....
Get microsoft voice command 1.6. It will let you run your whole by voice. Do a search and you might find a link.
i agree with angel-78. I'll add, if you act like that and dont want to ask questions nicely and dont care about your phone, maybe you should sell it and go find a more simple phone to use. this one sounds out of your league.

Thanks for the reply. I did search, both with the forums search and using the Google "site:" function. No luck.

I'm not sure what your problem is, but if you don't have anything to add, why don't you go take a long walk on a short pier. What do you want me to say... pretty please, with sugar on top?? If I was mad, it was quite obviously directed at the makers of an otherwise great phone/OS, but apparently your 2nd grade reading skills don't cut it when trying to extract such information from a post.
...and when did I EVER say I didn't like my phone? I think it is just RIDICULOUS not to have some sort of hands-free calling that doesn't require training. Every non-PPC phone I've owned within the past 3-4 years has had it. For a phone in this price range, it is absolutely inexcusable.
I do not need a more simple phone. It's not like it's a feature that is there, but I'm not able to figure out. It's just not there. But you probably wouldn't understand anyways.
There. Now you can say my post was other than nice. Retard.

Thank God for the "ignore list".
Flapjack - I understand with and agree with your point. I don't know if it's a software or hardware issue but it seems that a voice recognition feature shouldn't be that hard to come by. I also have seen this technology at work on other phones, as with you, mostly Verizon Motorola phones. Seems odd that GSM phones wouldn't have the technology. Does anyone know why this limitation exists? To reiterate, I'm not talking about the voice recognition feature where you have to record your voice and use it as a tag. I'm talking about the enter-names-in-your-address-book-and-just-be-able-to-call-it-by-saying-the-name feature. I believe it's called SIND or Speaker Independent Name Dialing.
As with Flapjack, I'm not bagging on the phone. Mostly, I want to know why this technology is not available on phones like the Kaiser but exist on phones that are free with Verizon.
Was anyone able to trigger the Ms VoiceCommand from a Parrot kit ?
I have a Parrot CK3000 Evo, and the Kaiser won't launch the msvc invit
... while it does with a bluetooth heaset
At the opposite, my Blackberry 8820 works great...with the Parrot (else I still don't like Blackberry OS )
any idea?
Want voice dialing
I have also had it on my last 2 phones sony S710A and my old MOT V551. both GSM by the way. I have a hard time believing this phone would not have simple voice dialing. Does any one have a clear answer on this issue
The best voice dialing is Microsoft Voice Command v 1.6. I have used this on my Tytn and now Tytn II (Kaiser). Go to Handago.com and download and purchase this software. The accuracy is 95% and I have over 550 contacts. It also announces incoming calls by name (check the threads for a fix for WM6), can even read sms messages (careful who listens to these) and much more.
Best app on my Kaiser
Voice Command is the best retail package out there.
Voice Signal is much, much better than VC, but it's only OEM'd so you can't get it for the various Kaisers out there.
VoiceSignal doesnt seem to support as much spoken languages...
If MVC is so great, why is it not included as part of Windows Mobile? It doesn't make any sense...
Do any cell companies actually include the software in their ROMs? It would make a lot more sense for them to pay for bulk software and include it as opposed to us having to pay for it.
I mean, really... it's not like the voice recognition software that comes with other phones is free. They pay for it, we use it.
Voice command
I think voice command is not bundled with phones because of the few languages supported.
I'm italian and voice command is quite unusable.
I heard cyberion voice command support italian but I can't find it anywhere.
I agree with the first istance: it's very strange that a €800 windows mobile phone has not a voice recognition program. My old Nokia N70 does have and it works very very well.
It's the carrier/phone manufacturer's option to bundle VC, but MS is going to get their money out of someone for the software. For example, it's included on many Treo's, and I believe the Samsung i760 includes it. But then VZW or Samsung paid for that license and built the cost into the phone.
Well, the TILT does come with Cyberon Voice Speed Dial pre-installed. It works and not only allows voice speed dial, but voice launching of applications. MS Voice Command may be better, I don't know, haven't paid the money to try it.
Wish there was a way to select or adjust that synth/can voice. It's pretty rough.

awesome piece of software!
thanks alot man!
one question though, is it possible to map anything to the button on the handsfree? that's when i really need to use the voice command, when the phone is in the pocket and i have handsfree out. it would be little annoying having to take it out all the time to press a hard button.
any suggestions?
The HTC voice commander, is there any way to stop it repeating what you said after you've spoken someones name or the application to load?
cheers guys
Could be wrong here, but I think it is prompting you to confirm that it has interpreted your command properly.
When I am making a call, it won't proceed until I have said "yes" after it repeats the contact name.

Start --> Settings --> Voice Command
(and FYI, it's Microsoft Voice Command, not made by HTC)
ok then cheers.
iv had a look under all the command settings and it doesnt say anywhere about turning the repeat off. With my command it beeps, then i say the name, then it calls. It doesnt wait for confirmation etc at all.
Doesn't cyberon have a program named voice commander?
I am fairly certain the original question was referring to Cyberon voice dialer. I don't think you would want to silence it since it is not always that accurate. It will repeat back to you what it "thinks" you said. This gives you the opportunity to cancel if it gets it wrong.
On the flip side, I discovered that if your phone is set to vibrate only, the speaker is turned off and the voice dialer is silenced... So there is at least one way to accomplish what you want.
My mistake, that does sound like Voice Commander. Not a big fan of that program...
Apologies guys, just checked the 'about' of it and it is Cyberon Voice Speed Dial.
Id still be interested in silencing it if anyone has any advice. I know its usefull hearing it back to you, but usually i say the name then lift my head to go about something else, only checking the screen top see if its a name iv had problems (voice) calling before.
That being said, are there any alternatives that are more popular? Iv had a bit of a look around but havnt found any other free programs that beat the standard voice dial.
Nothing free, but MS Voice Command is a good alternative. Cost's $40 or something like that but I am about to pull the trigger on it cuz Cyberon suks and has some kind of conflict with my bluetooth headset...
My vote goes to MS Voice Command also. I'm also rather fond of it repeating back to me what it's about to do, since it sometimes hears me wrong.
For people in the US on AT&T, the latest leaked WM 6.1 build has MS Voice Command integrated in to the ROM. Dutty used it as part of his Apr 09/16 release, so MSVC is already loaded and ready to go.
Is there a way to have the repeated command sent to the earpiece speaker rather than the speakerphone? I like to hold my phone up to my ear and forget sometimes as the speaker blasts away at my eardrum...
Been using it for a few days now and im starting to get used to the voice so guess ill just live with it.
Thanks for the help anyway guys
Hi all
Im looking for an app that will complement the calendar by allowing to record voice notes instead of text input when the calendar is open on "day" view.
when you hold down a specific time on the calendar, the voice recorder is activated and the Voice Note automatically gets recorded on the calendar date and time you are holding down, and gets added to your reminders/appointments with default settings and no more questions.
It would be a lot better obviously if it was translated to text first, but not necessary.
I was able to find "voice cal", very old and uninstallable on wm6.1 with .cf.net 3.5
and also "speerio voice organizer"... looks like a memory hog and i read it doesn't work right. Its also crowded with a million different things that are not useful.
I just want a simple interface to be able to use with one or two clicks or buttons in order to set up a calendar event while im driving or on the phone etc....
thanks
bump!.................
Hi Spiro,
any luck on finding that app? Cos i've been looking for the same, tho i would prefer that when u push the "record" button, u get multiple choices regarding where to place the voice note, where "calendar" bein one of the first. Then u just had to place it into the day and time you would like it to be. Haven't found one yet, so i've started to write to different application developers suggesting such an app. I'm surprised that they haven't made one ages ago. In meantime, if you should come across one, pls let me know.
cheers
anyone???
Do I really have to take up programming and write my own app?
I was lookin around and saw this
handheld.softpedia.com/get/Business/Calendar/VoiceCalendars-52540.shtml
I think this is different than VoiceCal
The one I gave the link to, seems lke it could work. Only problem is that it doesnt use WM existing calendar.
I tried speerio voice reminder and it was horrible! I dont know what some people are thinking.
All I need is a simple plugin to show itself on the calendars context menu when I "long press" on dayview to say "new voice note" and when I click on it it should have a HUGE red record button and a stop button. When you hit the stop button the calendar would save that as an event with the default alarms on the date it was created
the only problem I see with that is that the heading of the event would not be very informative unless one typed the info, but im willing to live with that. Or maybe MSvoice command could help there with some text to speech engine!!! (im not holding my breath)
Im using an app called "thumpcal" right now but they dont have a "day view" and I have to set the time after I scedulle an event on a specific date, but its better than the built in calendar BECAUSE ITS SIMPLE!!!!!
I dont understand how am i supposed to use a program like "speerio" while im driving when it has 30 f...n buttons the size of a neutron on the screen in a grey on grey display?????????
Does anyone know what I have to learn in order to put a little program together to do what I want it to do?
PS I also found some other interesting programs like "freenotes" that I thought was a good idea but I would like to be able to initiate that from the "day view" on the calendar (right click on a time on the screen and have the choice of a voice note or a pen note) so that I dont have to key- in the time that I want the event to take place
ummmmmm.....the link that I posted does what you want.
1.Make folders by subject name
2.Click on a folder, it then brings up calendar
3.Click on a day of the month
4.There is a BIG RED RECORD BUTTON at bottom of screen
5.Record your note, it is then stored for that specific day
Is this not what you want? Granted it doesn't use your existing calendar but hey, something is better than nothing, right
VoiceCalendars
Update*
I was just lookin around and found this app. I think it might be right up your alley. Very simple/minimal interface. Allows you to record a voice message up to 2 minutes and then you can set a date and time for it to play aloud automatically.
Voice Reminder: Download Cab
Heres the website I found it at
I hope either of these programs can help. I know how frustrating it is not to be able to find that perfect app!

Hey asofiker
thanks for your reply
I have an HTC Kaiser phone
I tried both programs you suggested and had the same problems with both that other users seem to be experiencing
the "voice calendars" displays a "the control grid .....could not be created" error
and the other program from the XDA member gives me the "An error occoured on sub_app_start.
This device does not support display power on/off Continue?" error.
I appreciate your help and if I find anything that works in the future Ill be sure to post here
Thanks again!
Not exactly what you're looking for but an idea: Agenda Fusion with its Notes Organizer and Data Linking features. Also a good agenda with lots of views. http://www.developerone.com/agendafusion/index.htm
Pocket Informant 8 is the best Calendar and Contacts app available and I always install it to my wm devices. It has voice notes recording functionality and then some. Check it out. I have tried all the others at great expense (some provide trials) and this is by far the best one.
Regards,
MAC
I tried agenda fusion in the past and find that it falls in the same category as most of these organizer programs its simply overkill for a one handed hand held device with a 2 inch screen
Ill give pocket informant a try and post back
Thanks

Mine is version 8 and it does exactly as you require! It saves a voice note under Storage Card/Voices when you select Notes View>Menu>Recording

You know the lady voice that announces when the battery is almost dead, when you get a text message and reads it to you and all the other stuff...is there any way to change that text to speech voice to a different female voice? I know there are several other voices that are available but not sure how it would be changed on wm 6.1
First off, what app is doing that for you?
huh???!!

He's talking about Voice Commander. When you receive an email / sms you can run it and say 'Read SMS' or 'Read Email' and it will read any unread emails /sms
Very handy, esp. when driving

Come on now, of course I know what freakin' phone I'm using. That's like asking someone if they know what kind of car they drive and if they are sure about it.
Here's what you do to enable it:
Settings>Voice Command>
Check 'Enabled'
Check 'Messaging', 'Status' & 'Phone' boxes
The go to 'Notifications' and check 'Announce notifications through device speaker or wired headset only'
[/LIST]
Those directions above will read out loud the person calling you when you get a call, the person who sent you a SMS and what the SMS says, will read to you any email including the sender and subject line, but not the email and will also notify you when your battery is gonna die.
Trust me, it's a major attention-getter when your phone reads a text message to you when it comes in and people around you are like wtf was that. Plus it's great if you are lying in bed or something and your phone is across the room...you can hear what the message says and whether or not it's worth getting out of bed for. :-D
But anyway, if anyone knows how to change the voice please respond. Thanks!
Voice Command isn't installed on all Diamonds as standard and as I stated, there is no way to change the voices, I have searched for this myself before with no luck.
cool!

nice one!
pretty sure you cant change the voice but i know there's a registry tweak to slow the voice down witch makes it easier to understand. I've just remembered I'm sure there's the tweak in Advance config hope this helps
yeah i have this enabled on my phone and its the best when your laying in bed and wonder if its worth looking at. I do wish it was a more sexier voice like sigourney weaver from planet earth, and a little slower would be nice. IT came stock on my sprint diamond fyi, im surprised other versions dont have it

You don't have it setup correctly, that's why.
Go into Voice Command and do this:
- Check all the boxes you want to use this service. (Phone, Messaging, Status, Etc.)
- Highlight 'Messaging' then click on 'Options' button then UNCHECK 'High Priority Messages Only' and CHECK 'Announce New Messages'. Do the same steps for others like 'Phone' and 'Status' to change it's options. Make sure you highlight it first.

I got this ATT tilt one month ago. And want to set it up for one relative who is nearly blind but not deaf. So I am looking for a dialer program that can read any number key being pressed (e.g. one for 1) and repeat (pronounce) the whole number (e.g. 18006543210) when the call key is pressed. If the program can also read out the number that called in, then it will be perfect.
I guess these may not be hard for experienced programmer. Probably changing some sound files (.wav) may have this work. But I'm a newbie who know very little about programming for mobile phones.
If you know any solution, please let me know. Thanks a lot.
well...
I just did a software called DTMF Dialer, that does not do the same, but I guess I could hack it to dial the real number and say the numbers as confirmation, I am not a super duper C# coder but I think I can do it, if you are interested im me.
Microsoft Voice command is no good? One can simply call out the numbers to dial and it'll ask for confirmation.

I agree with telegraph. Ms Voice command reads out the numbers as a confirmation, it also announces who is calling when a call is comming in.
For anyone who might be interested take a look at the link below. ATT is offering a deal for Mobile Speak to assist people with visual impairments for $89. The program usually costs a LOT more, so it is a great deal. Funny that I have not been able to find information on this on ATTs site...

I do not whether this wil help- I use Sony Ericsson p990i - with it and P1 - one can dial by pressing the bluetooth button and say the contact's name of-course your sister should record it first (you must help her with that). The other positive thing is if a call comes in and it is in the contacts - then the caller/recorded name will be played back. I am also trying to help a blind guy - [email protected]
