Hey everyone,
I am test running the new Windows 7 and I have had some syncing issues... Any ideas? The issue may be between the Mobile Device Center.

I think your question should be directed to the people who have access to Windows 7 and Mobile Device Center, and not to the ROM developers!
info?
YAA! SPPPP SHARE! lol! I want 7!!!!!!
Ok, I was using Leo's Manilla V4 Rom. I just switched to Hyperdragons Decemeber Rom and the issue has been fixed so it may have just been an issue with Manila 3D. Thank you for your help though.

You might try soft resetting your phone. I had problems syncing with win7 too until I did a soft reset.
When i connect my Tilt to my pc on Win7 64-bit, it says that i dont have RNDIS drivers...anyone know how to fix that? I had no problems syncing in Vista64 so i'm not sure what the issue might be...thanks in advance for any help!
EDIT: Start>Settings>Connections>USB to PC>uncheck 'Enable advanced network functionality.' Voila!

Mobile Device Center
This may not be the same issue but...
I had issues when I installed 7 over Vista. Whenever I connected my phone the Mobile Device Center would crash quite spectacularly - everytime. After much searching, the only suggestion I saw was to reinstall the Windows Mobile Device Center, which I did, and now everything works again, hunky dory!
same thing a few years ago
I tested out Vista and could not convince my computer and my phone to get along under any circumstances. However, once Vista came out for real, it sync'd up perfectly on the first try...so, it might be something relating to the Beta-ness of the Windows 7
Good luck and let us know how it all works out!

Daren't do a clean install, yet anyway. Don't fancy reinstalling all the applications. So far there haven't really been any other issues :>
I couldnt get mine to Sync at all with Windows 7 and I actually had a really hard time installing WMDC on it. I ended up making a second partition on my HDD and reinstalling Vista so I am dualbooting right now. I have had several other problems with Windows 7 as well.

Sounds like I had it lucky then - have you tried uninstalling WMDC and then reinstalling it? That's the way I went
That's why they call it a B E T A.

Hi all, ive been looking on here for a while now (and several other places too) for a fix for this. i have a cingular 8125 that works fine with all versions of activesync on windows XP, but on my home computer i have Vista RC1. i have downloaded WMDC and instaled that and i get all the way through the installation fine, then when i go to sync, it loads all the USB driver untill it gets to on that says "Unspecified Device" and fails. I havve tried the "WHOS" reg patch and several other things inculding checking for udates with the device attached, installing with the device attached....you get the pic..its bewen driving me nuts. Anyone either kow of a fix for this or have the driver(s) for me to install on the computer? Thanks in advance
Corey
Also...this has always been an issues since the stock 1.8 rom. i then tried the stock cingular 2.25 rom, the first release of the molski/faria/kyphur/etc. 3.3 rom, and the PDAVeit ver.2 WM6 rom and all have given me the same result. any ideas? i cant seem to find any driver anywhere, and im starting to think that maybe i have something wrong with my device.
bump for some help?
Vista Buisness N
Vista Buisness N confirmed not to work with active sync. Wait until Microsoft releases a patch. Probably tommorow
cool, thanks for the info...i hope it works on RC1 too.... do you know if it will be available from windows update or will i need to search microsofts webpage to get it? thanks for the help
I have vista ultimate got it a few weeks back and i ran into a problem with my mda because there is no active sync. I had to get the sync center version from RC1 to get it to sync right. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter.mspx thats where i got it from you can give it a try.

RUU under Vista
WMDC works fine for me (RTM build). The problem I have is eing unable to run RUU under Vista - it crashes after my Wizard goes into bootloader.
Someone seen this too or am I the only one unlucky?
bootloader
This is a very common problem. Ithink it has something to do with the rapi connections
Not sure this works, but have you made sure that the remote-NDIS network card is set to have the IP address assigned by the DHCP instead of using a static ip address (default)?
I am weary of upgrading to WM6 or Vista due to compatability issues. Even though the tech whore side of me is foaming at the mouth to them up and running I have read and think there are still too few drivers and support for Vista. Plus I need $134 to upgrade from business to ultimate

vista kind of sucks but wm6 is great.
Vista is just really annoying to use. I have Vista/sever 2003/xp on my laptop and I almost always use server. I think mostly because I develop web apps. Server just works, no crap.
WM6 is a very very welcome upgrade over wm5 and overall it seems less buggy than even the latest AKU's for WM5.
Happy New year to everybody...
Mine has started off bad, I just returned from my X-mas/New year break and I can no longer sync, install or uninstall programs ?
when I connect my PDA to the PC it sees it, but it can't sync, if I go to remove/add programs it shows empty nothing installed.
I can even brows the PDA but I can't copy files to or from it?
I'm lost, can anyone help me out on this I really don't want to do a hard reset.
Thanks.
Anyone.........?
tryed to reinstall active-sync?
did you installed some program has to do with network (kind of ftp-server or something else that uses some ports in you network-config)
i had the problem with filezilla ftp-server, using port 990 for ssl-authentification.
the problem was, active-sync also uses this port, but filezilla starting as service was bound to this, so AS could not work.

Hi Edi, No I haven't installed anything, but I think my problem might be something else (worse), I just realised that I can no longer copy move or delete files from either the PDA or the MC, I get an "access is denied" error.
Anyone have any idea what might have caused this? and better still, is there a fix.
I seem to be repeating myself lately with this answer, so I apologise if it seems down-right obvious, but have you ensured you have the latest version of ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Centre?
The reason I ask this is because I too was experiencing Sync problems using WMDV, but realised I didn't have the latest version (it doesn't automatically update with Windows Update, WTF?). Windows Mobile 6 is obviously programmed slightly different from revious versions, so updating Sync software is a simple step that's often missed...

Hi Audio, I use both, AS at work and WMDV at home, both used to work fine.
And do you experience the issue on both?
EDIT: Apparently, there may be a problem with ActiveSync 4.5. Just take a look at this list of complaints about it lol.
One user stated:
"I was using AS4.2 with my ETen M700, everything was fine. I wanted to upgrade to WM6 and teh instructions said I needed to use AS4.5 I installed it and tried to connect my device - disaster! The rapimgr.exe process runs at 99% and slows the computer to a crawl.
After 3 attempts, I uninstalled it, and re-installed AS4.2 (available from www.microsoft.com) and now things are working again. "
This may be worth doing to see if this soilves your problem...

Yes I have tried it on three different machines, I can see the PDA but it won't sync or let me move or copy files.
It look like I might have to do a hard reset, but I'm hoping not
Also, a chap on a premium (you have to pay for support!) site said the following, which seems slightly similar:
"I've been using ActiveSync for a while now to sync outlook up to my motorola q. For some strange reason it's stopped working. The connection takes place, you get the little signal saying that ActiveSync picks up on it, the "Connecting" message, followed by the "Synchronizing" message... and nothing. It just hangs there. I've reinstalled ActiveSync and Outlook and did a hard reset on the phone. I'm convinced the issue is with the desktop, if I take the same PDA home, I'm able to sync up with my PC there. Does anyone know what happens during the Synchronizing phase and what could be possibly causing it to hang? ActiveSync 4.5 is a new beast, solutions to the older versions don't seem to apply.
If I hit the Stop button, ActiveSync hangs on the "Stopping" message and ActiveSync on the phone becomes unresponsive until I unplug the cable."
So even a Hard reset didn't solve this guys problems...
I would recommend uninstalling AS 4.5 from your machine, and installing 4.2. Reason being, i believe you need your phone connected to the computer when you install syncing software, so it more than likely "fiddles" with some very well hidden settings on the device. If this is the case, 4.5 may have [email protected] it up, but 4.2 may be your savior.
If you decide to give it a go, let us know how it goes...

Hi Audio, I don't know what to do, I started another thread about no longer being able to either copy, move, delete, install or uninstall anything, I really don't think it's a sync problem anymore. I will wait another day or so and then I'm going clear storage and start again.
what really pisses me off is my wife has no problems at all? perhaps my PDA is ******.
Exactly the same has just happened to me - I tried to connect to ActiveSync this morning to copy a file across via bluetooth, but it refused to connect. I plugged in the USB cable, nothing - the phone charges but ActiveSync does not want to know.
I deleted the device in AS, tried to add a new one - nothing found.
I last sync'd up fine 4 days ago.
I am using Dutty's DualTouch v1.1 release.
I am using AS 4.5.0 build 5096
If I discover services via BT from the kaiser to the computer it finds the ActiveSync service.
I have done a soft reset, no difference, restarted the PC, same. I haven't applied any Windows Updates or made any changes since it stopped working.
I might try rolling back to AS 4.2
Edit: Same with AS4.2
Think it might be clear storage time
Cleared storage and then it worked fine...will take the opportunity to upgrade to dualtouch v2
Hi Blaze, damn it's annoying isn't it, my next move is clear storage as well.
Hope mine works again.
It's bloody happened again I reflashed the rom with Duty's Dual Touch V2. Much better rom, but activesync has just given up again via BT and usb. Maybe it's some inherent problem with WM, or with Duty's roms - which are you using Dave?
I've tried it on a fresh build of XP Pro on an old machine with nothing than AS & Outlook 2k3 on - same, AS sees the device, but wont sink. Problem seems with the device...

Try both the Windows Vista and Windows 7 versions of WMDC. For some people, only the Vista build works...
Windows 7
Slightly off-topic, but is it me, or does Windows 7 look pretty much the same as Vista? I don't know what I was expecting, but I was quite disappointed when I first installed it. When I first saw Vista, aftyer using XP for five years, I thought 'Wow', but not so with Win7!!

Just (re)install WMDC 6.1 and it will work in windows 7. When updating windows 7 to a higher version you should reinstall WMDC
Tried all the above still not syncing
Stephen Lane wrote:
I think I have researched all the treads on this pretty well now & I've tried all the above including rolling back to before I 1st allowed the WDM to install to no avail. I still can't get my Diamond talking to W7 WDM still talks to my old Vista Ult machine though.
Everything looks good the updater downloads drivers then the WDM then the installs happen the device gets found and it sort of knows its a HTC device plugged into a USB port but WDM and Sync Center both don't believe its there .
I've tried resetting the Diamond complete reboots of the computer, I've changed all settings in the PC to USB menu on the Diamond (another thread) and this only changes the Device from Generic Serial to Generic NDIS but still WDM won't connect or a 4Gb removable HDD but the sync centre still dosn't find it.
So has anyone got any further suggestions I can't believe its this hard every one else has no probs what might I be doing wrong (I think the fact the device is a Generic Serial not a Diamond might be a hint but I can't prove it)

works fine in x64...atleast for me!
I can confirm 6.5 works with 7 x64 I can also confirm that I cant get this to connect to my 7 x32 netbook, I can make it do everything but ActiveSync which includes Internet sharring USB and Bluetooth.
I'm running x32 ... What do you mean it will do everything "BUT" activesync. Thats kinda what i need it to do.
Ok ... i figured it out finally. WMDC wouldnt even run or Install, i should say, even though there was a setting portion in Control panel for it.
I found a article about how It wont run without running windows media player first. ( fresh Install and never ran it yet) So I went to run it only to find out It didnt exist.
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate N which didnt have any Media Software included. ( Didnt know that) So, I downloaded the whole media pack and installed. then I ran media player once and Voila! All the phone drivers installed properly, WMDC Installed properly, Phone connected and sync'd.
Whew!! I'm glad thats over. I almost went back to XP Pro.

I'm running two PCs with windows 7, one desktop with Windows 7 Professional (home) and a laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate (office). Currently I'm trying to sync to my laptop since that is what I sync to most.
After reading your post, this is what I tried:
1. Windows updates, it did install some windows mobile thingy which failed. I rebooted the machine, re-ran the update and it installed fine
2. Tried installing Windows Mobile Device Centre 6.1 (64-bit version) again, but it failed. Same message of Unidentified device and status of failed
3. I also tried your solution of keeping windows media player running before attempting to install WMDC, but no joy
Can someone please let me know how I go about this? This is frustrating, if I can't synch my pda I might as well throw it out (since I can't chuck out my laptop or job )
BTW, I'm running Windows Mobile 6.1, should I be upgrading this to 6.5 as I have read out here? I've searched on this forum but can't seem to find a download link for 6.5 (or perhaps as ASCIIker pointed out I'm going blind )
Mobile Device Center
I read this post and then was successful at installing device center. It was a weird install though. I am running 6.5 on the Tilt and Windows 7 64 bit on my laptop. I plugged the Tilt into the computer, started Media Player and configured it, and then launched the installer. It ran forever with the status bar saying 7 seconds to go. All the while, the diriver software was still trying to install. I finally got an error message from the driver software saying that it did not install properly. I opened up the troubleshooting box for the driver install and looked around a bit. Eventually, another message popped up in the driver install box saying it was trying again. Eventually, I another failure appeared. At that point, Device centered finished installing, the Tilt connected and all was well.
Total elasped time 20 minutes or so. Enough time to read a couple of pages on a new (to me) Andre Norton book and eat most of a popcorn popper full of popcorn.
Whew.
Nice to know it got solved.
It works fine for me:

This is the part I don't get, what exactly do I configure in Windows Media player? I plug in my phone, however, it doesn't seem to do anything, if I start windows media player and go to the sync tab, it is greyed out with the message 'Connect a device' Do you also uncheck the 'Enable faster data synchronization'? If I uncheck this, it does seem to try and install drivers for some 'Generic Serial' device but eventually comes back with 'Failed'

Well, I've tried the installer a zillion times now, no luck. It keeps trying for a couple of minutes with an 'Unidentified device' message and changes the status to failed subsequently
Why should it be so hard, I thought Windows 7 was supposed to make life easier, they obviously haven't heard of the phrase, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'

Kaiser TPC 11 mega and WMDC
The only way I've gotten Windows 7 WMDC to recognize my Tilt using TPC 11 Mega ROM is to connect using PAN over Bluetooth. I think the problem is that it doesn't report to Windows 7 that it's a Tilt or that Windows somehow knows that it's not supposed be running WM 6.5. Kinda sucks, but at least it works. To reflash I had to use the SD card since USB won't work.
I tried everything under the sun to get it working over USB. Finally had a friend with a Sprint Touch connect his using USB and it came right up, showed a little picture of his phone and worked fine. So it's definitely something in the way my Kaiser/Tilt is reporting the device to Windows. My phone is recognized by W7 and displays as a PDA, not a phone.
I'm on build 7100 and my Kaiser has been syncing flawlessly for months. My new Droid, on the other hand...No happiness yet. I've already made the call to swap the Droid for a TP2 strait across.
Been running 7 for a while now, both 32 bit and 64 bit dual boot. I've never had any issues with it not syncing, otherwise I would never be able to flash any ROMs on my phone. I even reformatted and reinstalled both after getting a legit copy from the MS Tour and it still works fine.
Hi, I have this problem if anyone knows what i can do to fix this it will be a big help.
First i run CustomRUU with the 6.5 rom in the same folder.
All goes well till it starts to upgrade. As soon as the progress bar appears the HTC goes on standby and the usb connection is lost, thus the upgrade fails telling me to check the usb connection.
Now, i have unchecked the standby modes on the phone via the power configuration and disabled the standby on the PC and still this problem appears.
Does anyone know why this happens? And is there anything i can do to prevent this?
Thanks.
Have you done hardspl?
Yep, i tried that too but it didn't work. I synced the phone up with windows mobile device center then opened hardspl(Jade-HardSPL_V5_20R3_232HSPL) in "run as admin", tried both automatic and manual and got a message saying to make sure the phone was properly synced which it was. I also installed enablerapinew which didn't make a difference.
I have the jade 3G btw.
I can understand what the problem might be .
Any other thought??
If you're using WMDC, I assume you're using vista. Have you tried with XP? I've hardspl a friend's jade without problems as well. He has two laptops, one with vista and one with xp. I couldn't sync phone with vista, so i installed activesync on his xp and it worked fine. I'm not a techie but just sharing what worked for me. Perhaps others might also be able to help.
Hmmm... Im using windows 7 x64. That might be the problem. I'll try on my laptop which has XP x86 and we'll see what happens.
Thanks for the tip mate.
Btw what are the differences between WM6.1 and 6.5? Are the faster? Or just a GUI upgrade? Im using spb shell and it's excellent.
Nope, still the same with XP. Goes on standby and the USB connection gets lost.
I've looked and no one has had this problem before. What else could be the problem?????
Im fresh out of ideas.

Oh dear, sorry to hear that. If you didn't succeed with the hardspl, you could take it back to HTC and tell them you have a problem with the standby mode. Don't say anything about trying to hardspl. May be a hardware problem.
You might be right, Maybe a bad batch or something.
I'll see what i can do.
Thanks for your help anyway.
Welcome. Let us know what happens. i had a problem with activesync - kept disconnecting by itself. The nice people at HTC changed the main board, which meant i got a new phone.
