I have an AT&T Fuze and I have been looking any and everywhere for an APP that allows the contacts to create a email group distribution list. They have the groupSMS app to create groups for text messaging but no luck finding one free or purchased for an group email distribution list which I really need. Does anyone know if this is possible or if any app exists like that and if so where?
Did you find anything?

I believe there is a program called Essential Contax Professional that would do what you're looking for. It's not a free program though, but you can download the trial to see if it is what your are needing.

Well that program says it works, but the demo doesnt let you try out the mass email or distribution list email with demo...thanks though...
I cant believe with all the different apps people create that no one has created an app that gives the ability to create an email distribution list and I did see that Essential Contax PRO app but like you said the demo wont even allow you to try out the group email distibution list which makes you wonder how confident they are in their product rather than giving a full 7 or 14 day trial to try all the features and see if you like it.

Hey there,
I have tried to gather the best freeware applications Android has to offer, with descriptions, links back to the developer's websites and QR codes that leads directly to the Market. It's about a 100 apps divided in various categories.
I'm curious what you guys think of the guide? Would your Top 100 list differ a lot from mine? I hope some of you will have use for it!
Here's the URL if you want to check it out:
The Ever-Growing List of Awesome Android Applications
If you can think of any more applications that should be on the list, please let me know
Thanks

As a new Hero-user (on my third week now), I must say one thing: Thank you so much!! =)
Thanks! Glad someone liked it, at least
A bunch of new apps have been added to the collection, and if anyone knows of a great app that's not included - please let me know.
Nice work!
There's a quite a few top lists, and some are better than others, both in content and layout, but I always discover some new apps worth checking out. I very much like that the entire list is visible on one page, with short descriptions.
Would like to point out that Think Android's AppManager (both free and pro versions) has been renamed to AppMonster.

Are you sure? Because I couldn't find a free version of AppMonster, but AppManager is still available?
Thanks, helped a lot.

The creators of the app announced the name change on their website: http://think-android.com
"App Manager" has been renamed to "AppMonster" in market a while ago now (but it depends on what country you're in). If I search for App Manager it only shows apps with similar names, not the app by Think Android.
Androlib now only shows AppMonster in some -not all- non-English markets, namely Chinese, Czech, Italian, Japanese, Russian. And even then in some markets only the Pro and in some only the Free versions. I think Androlib is not that up to date.
http://www.androlib.com/r.aspx?r=appmonster
AppBrain correctly shows the app as "AppMonster": http://www.appbrain.com/search?q=appmonster
Far too much use of the word "awesome", but a nice list, thanks for your efforts.

You're right. I was tricked by AndroLib.com, initially, since it didn't show any results for AppMonster when I did a search.
@knightnz I try to use the word "awesome" with caution, but I like to alliterate
I've added a new section to the guide with the top free Android live wallpapers
Did I fail to include any good ones?
Apologies for my criticism, but a pure list is not so useful in my opinion; I mean, there's Google for that.
It would be much more useful if this was a ranking, where users can vote their best 10 apps, for example.
Super great lists. Few worthy ones:
1) ColorDict: Universal dictionary reader for Wordnet, data downloaded to local memory (SD Card) for offline view
2) RealCalc: Best replacement calculator
3) Uninstaller: to uninstall apps. Phone's manage application way too slow
4) KeePassDroid: android keepass for storing logins and passwords. If setup with Dropbox or sugarsync, then can sync between phone and computer.
5) Call History: detail call logs better than what 1.5 offer with ability to back up.
6) Moto Phone Portal : access phone by wifi in same network using browser. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=574677
7) xScope GL : Another web browser with much better functionality. Free version limited to number of favs.
8) Skyfire beta : surprisingly fast enough and only option available to view web based videos until Flash 10 lands.
Did I miss K9 or it's not on the list???
Hi again,
I've done some major updates to the Android apps guide, and it now includes all the top widgets and live wallpapers as well. I've also removed some outdated software, and added blue borders to the very best applications so they're easier to spot.
All apps, widgets and live wallpapers are free
Cheers
Hi Guyz,
Perhaps you all know Next2Me for the Windows Mobile 6.x OS. This app was quite successfull (one of the 10 most downloaded apps in the Marketplace) and also here at XDA-Developers, quite many people liked my tiny app. If you don't know it, here is the link to the corresponding thread: http://xda-developers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=619329
So, why am I writing here? Because Next2Me v1.0 has been released in the Marketplace. You can find it here.
Next2Me will be devided into a free and payed version. The free version will show a small ad at the top of the main window. The payed version won't show this. Also the payed version will received new features before the free one and some features will be in the payed version only. But the core element of Next2Me, the local search, will stay free.
But, If you'll buy Next2Me (I am planning to sell it for 99Cent), you will not just get rid of the ad and get some unique features, you will also support me and my dev projects .
Current feature list of Next2Me
o Location based business search using Google Local Search, Yahoo and Wikipedia
o Over 30 key words and a free text search
o Show a map overview with all found businesses
o Show detailed information (address, phone numbers, etc.)
o Let you add the infos to the contact list, forward the contact by E-Mail or SMS or call the found phone number right from Next2Me
o Show your position and the target contact on a map and the route to the target
o Give you a directions to guide you to the target
o Send your own location by SMS or E-Mail (including a link to openstreetmaps with your current location)
So, as you can see, the software is quite envolved by now.
What features will also be implemented:
o Support different local search providers (Bing, Yelp?)
If you are still missing any features, THIS is your chance! Post your feature wish or suggestion in our development thread here, let's discuss about it and perhaps it will be implemented !

Just downloaded and tried this, looks pretty good. There are no local Bing results for my country but the Google results are excellent, so an app like this is essential.
Is it possible for your app to use App Connect to display search results directly from Bing Search? I believe the OpenTable app can do something similar, but OpenTable isn't available for my region so I can't try it out.
Thanks for all the hard work

Thanks for the compliment ..
Next thing I am going to do is to add Bing Local Search and Yelp to the search providers. I'll also release the paid version of Next2Me (79Cent) which will be without the ad but will get a lot of more features in the future.
Thanks for the hint with App Connect! I'll definitly have a look on that!

The app should save all the details of a place when it is added to contacts including Name, Location And Maps. As of now it only saves Phone number.
Rest of things are awesome, much better than what Bing finds. I have done a review at wpxbox.com

Thanks for your reply and thanks for your review ! I am glad to hear people like my app !
Just one thing: Next2Me was initially developed for the WP 7.0 SDK which didn't allow to add more info to a new contact than the phone number. But I already integrated the new SDK, so the next release will save much more data than now (name, address, etc..). But: the location cannot be added to the contact book, unfortunatelly.
If you have any other suggestions, don't hesitate to write me !

How about an Option ?
Hey Thanks for getting this here.
is it possible that you can give an option indirectly so one can select and add ?
I am not a developer so I cannot say much. But if you can just give a copy option so I can paste it to the contact Location detail, it should do the job.

I am going to use the notes field of a contact to save the position data. I know that a contact can have position information, but there is no way set this info using the API, so I will have to use the notes field.
Another thing: Yesterday I implemented the Bing Local Search as a new search provider, so the next release of Next2Me will include it . I already sent it to the certification process, and also Next2Me+, which will be the paid Next2Me. Next2Me+ will be ad free and will get more features and some exclusive features. The common Next2Me will stay for free of course.

So, there have been a ton of complaints about the facebook app on windows phone 8. Am I missing something? Why would anyone put an app on thier WP8 phone, when the People Hub ties all that together? I don't even have a facebook app installed, because everything I need to do is done from the hub.I can post an update, check in, see my notifications, whats new specific to my stuff or my friends that I have grouped exclusive.
So what am I missing?
Nothing. Some people are not used to having working things out of the box, so they just download apps to replace what the system already does.
My point exactly. I would even go much more further, I would ban all FB, Twitter... apps from the market since they r not needed at all. Instead, I would want some RDP apps for free, also some good database apps etc...
Good! I thought it was just me! Thanks guys.

There is quite some functionality in the Apps though that is not available in the Hub. It's conversation views in Twitter or Groups in Facebook. If you use those Features you can't rely on the People Hub alone.

Groups in facebook? Isn't that the same as Groups in the stock app? I don't do twitter, so cant answer to that. But still have found more functionality as well as easier interface when using the stock app on the phone.
I think OP has to look at things way wider. Maybe you just treat your phone more personal...
1)Facebook app can allow me lend my friend/families the phone and he can have a quick look at his facebook. (more social)
2)Facebook allow me to take control of another account I own( not saying about pages though, not sure WP8 facebook app can allow users to manage the page we owned)
3)respond to friend request.
4)As for myself, I have subscribe to many funny pages and news ones, the endless timeline give me look at what I have missed unlike the facebook/twitter integration,it does limits certain number of news/tweets and we can't scroll down after that.
I think these are the things you missing, might be more when compare to facebook apps on other platform since facebook app on wp has lesser feature.

Yea, my friends are goofballs. If I let them have access to my phone, I get crazy posts on FB, and my profile picture suddenly changes to a crotch picture. So, no one gets to screw with my phone except the better half (and now Jr thanks to Kids Corner). But then again, I do the same to them!
And I don't have more than 1 facebook account, but I see where you can add accounts, so maybe someone who has two accounts can try to add an account under thier different one? Might allow it, although, I think it would merge the two, which could become confusing.
And I have not noticed friend requests, so will have to see if I get one recently and see how that works.
I see where your coming from, guess since I am not a power user I don't utilize all the capabilities that FB has, nor the native / 3rd party app.
Thanks for clarifying, FINALLY some one did! Thanks!
Groups are not the same as WP Groups (well, something similar exists with the lists Feature but that's an entirely different Topic).
Facebook Groups can have members and have there own pin wall, calendar, etc. You can use them e.g. to bundle all the Information on a certain Topic like e.g. when you are part of a certain Club. To my knowledge I can't Access those from the People Hub.
I'm only using two of them but those pretty frequentlly. There are other Features not used by everyone but rather important to others that are not available in the People Hub.
Thanks for the info!

It's missing a lot of the interaction you'd get from the website or a third-party app, for instance:
The messaging app does not pick up Facebook message threads, for one (Just chats).
You can't edit your own status updates.
You can't friend/unfriend people.
The Facebook People Hub is meant more for getting the basic info on people that you have on your contacts list and to keep them in the loop on you. That's it. I think these limitations are by design.

Other than the 1020, all other Lumia's are waiting on the carriers to fuc$ around for the next 6 months. I hate US carriers.
keep an eye on ncs. I'm sure we'll see them creep up on there before being released ota.
Yep, or you could try the Nokia Software Updater for Store. Its a lot simpler to use and it will actually tell you and download the newest firmware when available, but most of the people reading this already know that....
Waiting for the Black Update on meh 928.

I have a Lumia 720 as business phone and I hope that next update will bring the possibility to select attachment with the mail client. I don't care all the other new features I read on latest news.....
Currently I can only select pictures as attachment on mail which sound strange for me it this is considered a business phone.
I guess we should wait for users getting the update to confirm that this feature will be included now.
Just because your company calls it a business phone doesn't mean Microsoft considers it one. From the beginning, MS unapologetically marketed Windows Phone as a consumer phone. They focused on personalization, user-friendliness, and social features but neglected business features like VPN support, encrypted email, mobile device management (WP7 didn't even support encrypted storage at all), and attachment support (although you can attach Office documents from within the Office hub).
Updates and new releases have slowly improved this area, and future versions will improve on it further (S/MIME encrypted mail and mobile device management are both said to be coming this year, along hopefully with VPN and better WiFi security options) but to call WP a business OS at this point in time is silly. It's a personal, consumer OS that has support for some business features, much like iOS was a few years after its initial release.
Define the problem, not the solution...
You can of course attach other files to email via WP8 (and 7.5 for that matter). If you're trying to work with PDF/DOC/XLS/other office files, you need to go to office, bring up the context menu on the file that you wish to send and click Share... This will allow you to send the file.
If you wish to share files via SkyDrive - this only sends a link or uses the Share functionality from SkyDrive.com.
I guess if you think about it logically, you define the problem - sharing a file; not the solution - adding an attachment to an email.

Thanks for the hint. I mean that if you like to reply to a discussion and attach a document, perhaps saved from another mail, for my understanding this is not possible currently. Starting a new mail and attach a document or share from office is fine but in a regular use is not a typical use when you should follow up an open discussion with an existing distribution list instead of opening a new one from zero.
I am thinking about having an iOS iPhone, iPad, and Android app for my community. I have had some requests from users because they think it will be easier to talk to the other members, ask questions and view various content I create.
Does anyone have their own iOS and Android app for their community?
I had several points which are important to me.
1 - First I needed my own app with real time chat and private messaging including the ability to send push notifications that can be downloaded from the app stores by my users and seen in mobile (all versions) so I narrowed down the search for chat room app solutions..
2 - I needed a design to include my images, I needed my background to be black or transparent and completely white label with my logo.
3 - I do not like to install the chat in my server as this is high cpu and resource consumer. So I need a complete cloud chat service.
4 - Lastly, I needed the ability to add youtube videos, have users private message me, and have my own app account system.
I have checked several app builders and only 1 met my needs, Chatwing.
I choose Chatwing finally as it has real time messaging built in and can be custom branded as my own app plus can be integrated into my web page.
just tested the chatwing app builder and can confirm the app wizard available makes it straightforward to create an app. nice feature, the app supports Google admob ads so you can display banner ads and make money.
What do you mean when you say 'my community'?
Chatwing is a great chat room software for group chat if you want to install live chat on your website. I've used chatwing on my website for 2 years, its awesome. I have not used they're chat app builder yet but am considering launching an app too.
