OK, So I am completely new to this stuff on a consumer basis. I used to work for Symbol Technologies testing Windows Mobile 5 when it was still in alpha/beta on our products. Now, my question for you all is Which is your favorite ROM?
I have been looking around here and I have found a few, I was able to get my SIM unlocked and my SID unlocked in about 20 mins on my Cingular 8125 So Thank you all for your contributions on that
I also learned a ton of stuff about these devices that even after working with them for almost a year I didnt know.
I decided to make this poll not only for my own curiousity, but for those people who are new to this like I am and want a qucik opinion on whats best out there. If i leave something out let me know

I'm sure I've left a lot out, but I put the roms on this poll that i frequently came across in reading all the posts I've hit
T-Mobile 2.26 is my favourite, but faria 3.2 is a good candidate.
Faria rom by yards! It was the first rom to really wow me since the release of mobile 2005!

anyways i've tried farias, might give it another shot but i liked Molski's rom so as soon as i saw the upgrade i wanted to give it a try. im happy with it get the job done.

I think it is kind of like asking "what is the best car". I have not seen a "bad" ROM yet here, but what are you looking for - speed or features or comfort and ease or ????? - again just like a car. You will find it from any of the "wizards" (pun intended) who put the results of their efforts on here for you - most noticeably Faria, Shogunmark, Molski, Risidoro, and Summiter (WHERE IS HE??).
I must have flashed my phone 20 or more times by now, with never once having a problem - JUST FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS!! Try a few and see what you like.

it not about statisctic for me,i just love my hobby. i lost my notes in a recent hardrive failure,one of those was the page pool stuff.now im stuck.i have asked several people that have the info to send to me but no one gives.i looks like is the queen jeewls.i cant belive it!!!!! all the people that i have help it...sheeezzzz
i will find out .and when i do i will publish the dam thing in here as i always did when i find something new that people want.
anyway a wizard kitchen is in the works.it will be the end of custom roms.
did i mentioned... i found out a couple of days ago a possible way to unlock the wizard extended rom? problem is i cant be done by a reg hack,and the tools are not avalable for the public yet. gonna test that in a new rom.but im pretty confident .

Wow! That is amazing stuff. I knew about the drive crash, but not that you still needed info. I could reinstall Beta 4 and try the voice command deal you asked about, but I know nothing about the page pool.
Anyway, all good stuff, and your ROM is destined for greatness.
Got my kaiser/tytn2 today
So I am leaving herald community and venturing over to kaiser.
What do that mean for herald? Well, Im gonna finish my 3 latest projects. The rom for p4350 wwe, and the norwegian rom. And ofcourse I will finish the tutorial.
But thats not all I am gonna do, I am gonna upload the sys, oem and rom folders for both wing and p4350. And I am also gonna upload a section of oem packages, some I have made, but mostly stuff I have found all over the forum. I will make it easy and add the oem packages into the OEM kitchen folder. This means that when you choose to build your rom, you will get a list of whats inside the oem folder, and then you can check or uncheck w/e you want to include in your rom.
The files and folders are no longer limited to personal use, if you wanna share your rom, please do so. But the condition will be that all roms released using the kitchen files (oem, rom and sys) a note with credits to the one spending alot of hours building for you
Im not leaving completly, incase some few are gonna miss me Im gonna check in once in a while and help out, and follow some up on the tutorial.
I cant promise this will be done this weekend, but I can promise that it will be all finished sometime before next weekend. That include the tutorial.
Now Im gonna dump my norwegain kaiser, and see what can be done with it

Anyhoo, I think my kitchen is finally done, (I've yet to try out the last ROM I've made) and it's all thanks to your base ROM (Minus some tweaking...)
I'll also be using Hyperkitchen to make some more tweaked ROMs. Hopefully, I'll become the next itje... without a kaiser...
Congrats my friend and excellent that you received your kaiser. Is it the Kaiser 120 (with 3meg pixel camera and and video calling capabilities)? This is definitely a step up for you (and your phone, lol). This is a step I look forward to making in a month. Although you're going to be relocating to the Kaiser forum and your new home will be there, your frequent presence and guidance here will be missed for sure .. and I will go out on a limb to say that's on the behalf of everyone here, lol. I'm sure that forum will treasure your insight and expertise. I'm also happy to hear you're not just leaving us, you're still going to make guest appearances here, LOL, and remain a consultant (sort of speak) for us amateur and experienced rom cookers.
Remember, you can always come back HOME (here, lol), if thing don't work out over there, LOL.
As for me, I'm using your latest beta version now, but I think I'm going to downgrade and use version 2 for my herald instead due to it's stability, until you have the final versions posted. ITJE, I heard the Kaiser is a piece of crap. I suggest you get rid of it and stay with the Herald.

Reading this thread seems that Itje had bigger problems. Luckily his bigger problem by now is getting used to his new device.
Thank you for all your efforts and nice work. All of your "betatesters" come to this thread to say goodbye. That's quite nice. Maybe the forum masters should consider creating a hall-of-fame for all of those who made it worth visiting daily. You have my vote.

Just wanted to say thanks to itje, if it wasnt for your ROMS i would have jumped ship to the Kaiser along time ago! I guess I was spoilt as a Wizard user with all the roms available, but it was nice to have at least one chef for the herald. Thanks again.

Today I woke up checked XDA-Dev like usually and then went to get something to eat. Checked CNN news, browsed some pages and sorted out my emails. Everything worked great.. And thats really sad part of it because with all great tweaks and Dutty last rom Diamond is perfect. What im gonna do ? I had so much fun with reflashing and searching for answers ohhh well I think its time to start play with Linux HTC Diamond simply rules
Glad you got this sorted. The Diamond ROM dev picked up so damn fast that indeed the Diamond is a most stable phone right now.

Hi guys, i'm new to this forum and would like to say firstly, hello and thanks to everyone for the info!. I've had my Xperia X1i now for a year and love adding apps and games and stuff but Android caught my eye the other day and i've spent nigh on 4 nights solid, running in circles trying to get info on installing the right version but to no avail. Would it be possible please to let me know step by step on what to install, how to get the correct version and also how to "tweak" the startup.t please? I would be forever in your debt. Thankyou.
Where do you get the idea all those problems are already solved ? Maybe asking in that thread would help. AFAIK no progress was made beyond what what HTC users did.

I'm Super New to this whole *hands on* stuff goes. I mean , I've got the Tekno down pretty well, ....it's the getting into working with and getting all personal with my gadgets that I'm new too!! I tried a couple apk mods and found myself surprisingly pleased with myself. So with that said, you pretty much get the gist of things as far as where I'm sitting. But I'm all about learning new stuff, and from what I'm told....this is THE place to find all kinds of Stuff. I'm not completely sure where to go or what to do from here....but I've just got a brand new replacement s20 ultra, and I'm about to start setting it up. I would love any tips or cool tricks that anybody might wanna share. He'll, I'd be happy with a smile or somebody just saying hi! . Thanks for the Awsome welcome.... I look forward to seeing what comes next!
