Sprite Backup on disconnect USB - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi guyz,
I have a strange issue...
I have Sprite Backup v6.5.4 Build 2 installed on my Diamond. When I connect my phone to the PC via USB cable (as a external HD) and I pull the cable out, it automatically starts Sprite Backup! Has anyone experienced this before?
I can close it, but it happends every time, which gets quite annoying...
Thanks in advance!

Do you have any backup files stored in the root of your internal storage? Try moving them.
If the problem persists, try uninstalling Sprite Backup and reinstall, maybe in main memory not internal storage.

solved....?

Hey Dave,
Thanks for your reply!
I didn't have any backups in the root. And I have Sprite installed on my internal memory. But I think I solved it...
The Sprite that started automatically was in fact an OLDER version than the one I have now. I didn't notice that until recently. I recently flashed my ROM so I knew for sure that no old version of Sprite could be on my main memory. So I looked on my internal memory. I found a folder named "2577". This is a folder that Sprite created, I think for restore purposes when Sprite is installed on the internal memory. In this folder I found alot of files of the old version of Sprite (I recently installed the new version). I replaced these with the new files of Sprite and now the problem doesn't seem to occur anymore...
I'll just see how it goes from now on...
Hope this helps for anyone who experiences this same issue.

Sprite Backup and Hard Reset - Question

Greets,
I have a couple of questions about sprite backup ...
1) If I do a sprite backup, and then a hard reset, and then undo the backup, will I still have all of my programs and pointers to programs installed on the MicroSD card?
2) Does it also include registry changes (such as PTT and KaiserTweak)?
Thanks!
Not quite sure what you mean by the first question.
After a hard reset if you execute the backup exe file that Sprite created it will restore everything that you chose to backup.
When I backup I pick everything but the storage card since sprite restores the registry and shortcuts to anything that was installed there anyway.
Sprite can also restore the mess you tried to fix by HR. I did a BU and HR, then Restore only to have the same symptoms. A HR and rebuild from scratch is the only way I was able to fix my problem. It would work to make a BU of a good setup and keep it safe for later.
And that is the reason it is important to do regular backups. I do mine once a week and also right before I install something unusual or tweak things significantly. I'm using Sprite Backup 6.1 (Tilt owners can upgrade for $10) and have done a half dozen restores after hard reset with excellent results. I backup non-SD data to the SD card. Almost all my add-on programs are stored on the card so the backup isn't very big. SB 6.1 also supports remote backup to an FTP server which I verified works but don't really use.

HTC Backup on your Wing.

I've had this .cab kicking around but never tried it till today. Seems to work great on my Wing. Not quite sure everything it backs up. It only works when installed to the phone -- won't work if you install it to the Storage Card.
It creates a file on your Storage Card used to backup your phone.
My guess is, that you could create the backup image file and then remove/uninstall the program to save space and then if you ever needed it, you could reinstall the program and just run the backup file. Or just leave the program on your phone.
Anyway, I don't know if anyone wants it but here it is.
Cheers!
This is neat to have. My question is, does this backup my profiles in the programs (like games) installed so next time I install/backup the program it will be restored? I'm thinking about flashing to new ROM...
Thanks.
no
you have to copy that stuff from either the app data folder or your program's folder usually
i been using this since i got my wing. this back-up every single thing from reg to program data..
ok guess i was wrong then

Awesome, thanks man!
I just saved this to my storage card and installed it on the storage card, is this correct? Should I save it to the phone memory and then back up to memory card?

I believe the answer you was seeking was in the first post. . . .
The PPCGeeks forum shows some users experiencing major issues with this software - beware .. ! Hard resets necessitated etc,,,
I have a weird problem with HTC Data Backup... I first installed it on the SD card because on the page I downloaded it from it didn't say you have to install it on the device, later I saw some people mention it in the comments... I've uninstall it and installed it again on the device, but I can't find it anywhere - it's not in the Programs, or Program Files, although I see it in Add/Remove applications... How do I start the program?

Sprite Backup 6 Fails On My At&t Tilt:

I went and bought Sprite Backup and when I try to backup my pda from my computer or inside the tilt itself it fails. When I attempt to backup from my computer the tilt shows a white background then goes back to the today menu and if I try from the pda it fails. I installed sprite backup to my memory card, that might be the issue. I am not sure.
If anyone has a clue, thanks.
I am using it fine with my Tilt. I have it installed in main memory.
As what pete_c said install in memory.
Sprite Backup only works manually!!!
I have Sprite Backup set to do automatic backups every night, and save the files to the storage card. However, the program continues to try and save the files to the main memory! I then get an error message since I don't have enough room on the device for the file (about 70mb).
However, when I perform a manual backup (with the same settings) it saves to the storage card with no problem.
sprite backup
In the manual option of the Sprite backup i notice there is a PC option. When I have it connected to my pc (running vista and windows device center) the phone restarts and says can not connect. Any advise?

Anyone have problems with nandroid backup?

I cant be the only one. The problem I am having is when performing a Nandroid backup....the backup never ends. I have like 3 gigs of space left on my sd card and Ive tried deleting the Nandroid folder to make it re-create the folder. Still, it will run forever if I let it. It used to be intermittent, delete nand folder and reboot and try it again usually solved it. Now it just wont work.
Anyone have a solution to this problem? I went through alot of searching and found lots of info on the restore but not much on the backup portion.
Thanks guys

Lost backup and lost storage!

Yesterday, in order to try new AOKP 4.4.1 by Maclaw, i made a nandroid backup from touch recovery.
Usually after a backup i found it in internal memory/clockworkmod/backup but after a reboot to be sure the backup was ok, i didn't find it.
So a made another backup in external sd card, from nandroid too.
After that, i noticed i've lost a lot of internal storage: it's like the backup was done, but i can't find it.
By Es File Explorer i've serached it but nothing to do.I put hidden file visible, but i can't find the backup.
I deleted all the clockworkmod directory (that wa empty) but nothing to do.
Can someone help me?
Before backup i had 3.5 internal storage free, now i have 1.6 free... :'(
You could try running a nandroid backup to the external SD card. Maybe you can find your nandroid backup there.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using Tapatalk
In the ext-sd everything works, i already tried and there i can find backups in ./clockworkmod/backup
I don't know why in internal storage i can't find them, i looked for them also in root directory / but nothing to do...
I've found the solution.
In recovery, Backup and Restore tab, there's a function to delete backups.
I entered in that function and i have found my old backup, it said that they where in internal storage even i couldn't find them, but in this way i succeed in delete them.
Thanks.
