GPS not working.

Hello,
I am trying to help a friend with a Kaiser and wants his iGo working in it.
Everything seems ok, iGo starts but after some seconds it shuts down. I tried to change GPS port and everything else I could thought but problem persists. Any advice?

Did you try Tomtom before iGo? I have the same issue with google maps. It will seek sats and give up saying no gps signal. But if I run tomtom and then start gmaps it works fine (inside buildings). I would suggest you open iGO outside and check it out. Are you using COM4?
Will check... now he is travelling (Poland) but will call me when he came back.
I did not tried TOM TOM...
find a free program called GPS Test. Set it to Com 4 / 4800. Much smaller than TomTom and certainly an app that's worth keeping on it.

the issue is that the internal GPS on the Kaiser needs to be "jump started" there a few apps that do this a free one that is also good is GPSViewer and the others mentioned above. I use TomTom well since it came with my Kaiser and with all that Damn Program memory who the hell cares if I use 10MB to install TomTom and a Map
I have never had problems with starting my GPS. I did a quick fix once and have used it with first Google maps (no problem) then Pocketstreets (again no issue) and finally Tom Tom.
I have never had to wait more than 20 seconds or so for a fix. Make sure you are outside before starting the application though.

No GPS Signal in tunnels.....

Hi guys,
I have a problem which I tried to solve with AGPS but I found out that the cause has nothing to do with AGPS I opened this new thread.
OK, I use Navigon 6.2 for Navigation. The problem: If the GPS-Signal is lost Navigons brings the message "Destination reached" and stops navigation. So after the tunnel I have to start navigation manually. I had a look into other forums and it seems that the GPS modul of the TyTn II really sends nothing in case the signal is lost. As far as I understood other (e.g. external) GPS-receivers send 0's (zeros) in case there is no GPS-signal so the navigation tool just notices that there is no signal for the moment.
Is someone able to check what happens if the GPS-Signal is lost?
Cheers

Seems Navigon issue, TomTom 6 and Igo 2006 SE works fine for me inside tunnes... and with AGPS i get possitioned
Cheers.
Hmmm, I run Navigon 6.2 also on a Universal (two friends of mine too) and in case the GPS-Signal is lost Navigon just stucks until the signal is back again. After the signal is back it proceeds navigation without any problems. So it seems that there is a difference between an external and an internal GPS-receiver. I didn't try the TyTn II with an external GPS-receiver but I am sure the behaviour will be the same as with the Universal.
So from my point of view it is just a problem with the data sent internally.....
You have already asked this question on AGPS and got similar answers.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343048&highlight=assisted+gps
The 'Kaiser' uses an internal GPS handler (thats what you actually connect to at COM4) so that mutiple streams of data (AGPS/QuickGPS) can be set to one app or mutiple apps can use the single GPS device.
On older devices you had to use an app like GPSproxy to do this.
Other people have also reported Navigon's failure to handle data halts in this forum.
It is not a device problem as other Mapping apps have been updated to cope with the WM6 handler. It appears Navigon is still at WM2005 level and needs to catch up.
So what you're saying is that MN6.2 misbehaves when dealing with an internal GPS compared to an external GPS?
Hi Guys,
I installed a Port-Splitter which is usually used to run several GPS-Tools with one GPS-Modul. No Navgion just says "calculating new route" until the GPS-Signal is back. So it's fine for me know.
Anyway I think it's a shame that neither HTC or Navigon feels responsible to solve this issue. For me it is just a wrong signal or some kind of misinterpreting of a signal. This shouldn't be a big problem for them.
Cheers
Michael
Edit: This just worked for a short time so not worth to try......

Quick GPS Diamond

Hi to all
I've the same problem that many people have, as I've seen here in the forum.
Quick gps doesn't update anymore. I've tried all the registry tweaks that I've found but nothing. I've written to HTC but they don't have answered.
I've tried quickgps from kaiser but without success. So, I should do an Hard reset but I want avoid it. Is there someone that has the cab for the diamond's quickgps ? I've seeked here and in other forums but I don't have have found anything. Perhaps reinstalling the original cab should resolve the problem.
My quickgps version is 1.0 build 1815.2630. Rom is 1.37 official from HTC, italian.
Thank you very much to all
here you , QuickGPS 1.04

Sorry, but perhaps I don't have explained myself well.
The file you've attached is GPStest to test gps connection. I am seeking quickgps, the cab that allows internal gps to fix faster.
Sorry for misunderstanding
you can get it from here i think

Thanks a lot, but I have tried it yet. I think that only the specific version for diamond go. When i try to install another version it says me "digital signature with certified reliable not available" etc.
Perhaps because another version is yet installed, but, being in rom, it's impossible to uninstall it. So I wanted the same version installed to overwrite it hoping it will function well.
QuickGPS connection failed
hi all.
i am also having some trouble with my touch diamond (p3700) & quickGPS.
i've had the p3700 for 2 months, and so far so good. i used quickGPS when i first got the p3700 and all worked well. i have loads of apps installed, and around 5 GPS included ie. GarminXT, Route66, iGO8, MapKing2007 etc. all have been working well.
yesterday i decided to update the packedEphemeris data via quickGPS, and after multiple attempts, each attempt would advise "Connection failed try again later"
the next thing i have noticed is that all my GPS apps cannot connect to satellites any more. i tried by leaving my p3700 connected in my car with a clear view of the sky, and even after an hour or more, none of the GPS apps successfully ocked onto any satellites.
in comparison, my other HTC (artemis) p3300 was able to lock onto satellites within a few minutes or less with any of the same GPS apps, also i downloaded the latest packedEphemeris data via quickGPS successfully while i attempted to do so with p3700 yesterday and today. so i know its not anything to do with wifi et al. connections etc.
nothing new has been installed, nor uninstalled on the touch diamond...
so whats up with that???
i have sent an email to HTC support and am awaiting their advice.
i really don't want to have to resort to a hard reset, as installing all those apps will take me a day.
anyone can post their quickGPS reg folder please... from their TOUCH DIAMOND
thanX
I have had this problem where Quick GPS will not update, either from ActiveSync (as it did automatically before), via WIFI or 3G/HSPDA. Whilst at the same I found that You Tube will no longer work so there is definitely some issue with it. By doing a hard reset got it to work again but I think at some point it will stop, so any answers will be most useful (for us all!).
GPS and Internet calling
Everything was working fine unless I installed WM6 Voip application to use my Diamond to make internet calling, thereafter no GPS recognition by tom tom and no luck with Quick GPS as well. Hard resetting the device solved the problem and again I installed the WM 6 Voip application and again no luck with GPS. I did that three times and concluded that unlocking WM 6 Voip feature blocks GPS ports. If you are using WM 6 Voip then you might not be able to use GPS as I experienced.
I have the same problem:the quick gps won't update. If you find anything as a solution please inform!
Solution with Quick GPS update.WORKS!
This solution works and has nothing to do with registry hacks, installing cabs etc..Well lets start:
1)Open Internet Explorer from your Diamond(Start-->Internet Explorer)
2)From the Favourites menu go to the HTC web page(should load, normaly)
You are done!Go to the quick gps and now you can update as before!(It seems that the Diamond losts his way to the internet but as soon as you go to the HTC page, the way described here, the problem is solved!)
thanks for that, just tried it and it worked perfectly!!
Very weird, I had the same problem and the IE trick worked.
Thank you, elflost
I'm having the same issue with quickgps not updating and getting a a connection error. I tried the IE trick but it still didn't work. Any other ideas?
OMG that's crazy!
I was trying all sorts of things and I just opened IE (first time I ever have as I've been using Opera instead) and now both QuickGPS and the YouTube are working again.
Thanks very much for posting, now I don't have to waste anymore of my evening looking for solutions.
Cheers.
The trick with IE solved the issue with me too. That's a bit weird, every other programs are able to find the internet connection through wifi..

just to give you some tips:
port that should work is port 4 and the baud rate : 9600.
it will take like easy 7 minutes before it finds some satellites..
this is the a problem or an issue that is difficult to solve, but if you wana read more on this and how to enhance your GPS with different tools like , quick GPS, HTC GPS Tool ..etc. ..
check this |ink: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360477
I have tried Tomtom and IGO , both of them are to slow in finding satellites...
let us know if this worked for you!
waiting for better solution..

I have Garmin XT on mine and I have a similar problem. I will be tracking fine, then it will say GPS OFF. and then it will come back on a few minutes later.

TomTom GPS Problem

I have an inconsistent and strange problem with my gps fix. Especially with a cold start. Sometimes Tomtom Navigator gets a fix within +/- 2-5 minutes. Sometimes not after 20 minutes.
Strange thing: Google maps is always able to get a fix, even if TomTom is not able. Once Google Maps gets a fix, I can start TomTom and then he finds a fix too. So sometimes in order to get a gps fix with TomTom, I have to start Google Maps.
This is a problem, because Google Maps uses internet, which I don't want if I am in a foreign country(Belgium for instance).
I am running Energy.RAPHAEL.21901 With Coockie Home tab 1.7.1,
Navigator 7.915(9196)
Radio version: 1.10.OliNex(don't know if it matters)???
Just ask if you need more information. Hope someone can help me!
Do you have to disable agps?
I am too experiencing similar issues in Garmin, iGo, tomtom.......
they all seem to gat a fix relatively quicker and lose it. and stuck in a cycle of getting a fix and losing it.
BUT, applications like, gps speedo, gps dasgboard are working without any issues like that...
any ideas?
BTW, i tested many different ROMs available here with similar GPS issue.
I tested IGO yesterday and it gets a fix perfectly. On the other hand, yesterday tomtom suddenly started working:S.. I hate problems which are inconsistent XD!
I am going to test IGO a week. I expect it will always get a fix, since google maps also gets a fix whenever I try.
What I haven't done is upgrading my radio version. So that is my last alternative.
Keep you posted.
@ Argentocruz: I had already disabled AGPS
Mee too. Disabled Agps and tried. Result: same.
my radio ver: 1.08.25.20
should I try a dif. radio? if so to which one? anyone can suggest Pl. thanx.

Try a different radio yes. With the stock radio 1.something my fix was slow and I had quite some lag in TomTom. With 1.14.25.35 this issue was gone. It takes me about 1 minute to get a fix (and sometimes it doesn't fix, so I have to reboot the phone)
ok. will try this Raphael Radio 1.14.25.35.
Sorry for asking here... I downloaded this radio pack and it contains Raph_1.14.25.35_rilphone.CAB file also.
do I need to install this cab after flashing the radio?
10q.
BTW, anyone from Australia tested this?
Flashed the radio. problems seem to be gone..... tomtom, igo works perfectly so far.
will test more. thanx all for the support.
