Hi,
I tried using Windows Media player to play songs but they do not support copy right m4a files and other misc audio formats. Thus i used TCPMP player which is good to solve the problem but it does not have a SEARCH function.. any advice and other takes on other audio players?
Audio Manager is good. Works when display is off.
S2P or Slide 2 Play is the best one.
Audio manager is good but you can't specify a single folder to use, it will automatically scan for all mp3 and sometimes other audio files on the mem card. I it wasn't for that I would say Audio Manager.
I tested S2P but it does not have the SEARCH function, it doesn't even support playlist function... but its interface is very nice... any more better audio players out there?
I use Mortplayer and I also tried GSPlayer earlier on (both shouldn't be hard to find).
DUDE, this is a phone not an mp3 or a qps device. You don't need to play audio..
tcPiMP gets my vote.
Mort Player
Mort player is my favorite!
It has it all - great for Audio books too!
Get it here:
Stable version
Beta version
Vista Skin
or see below...
Enjoy!

are you kidding me? why do people like you always chime in like this w/ irrelevant replies
"i dont use my phone for this, so i think its dumb that anyone else uses its for (blank) purpose"
if you forgot, there are phones like the iphone, sony ericson music phones, nokia n series, etc that are great multipurpose phones...which is EXACTLY what the kaiser is. if you're gonna stick w/ that ideology why don't you stick to a nokia 3395.
PocketMusic Rocks
For me this is a serious bit of kit. It's my phone, GPS, personal organizer and now an MP3 player in the car. That was made possible with PocketMusic - http://www.pocketmind.com/pmfp.htm
Get the full version otherwise the real benefits are not seen.
I have all my music on my SanDisk MP3 players, even checked the tagging under properties in Windows - all the album/artist info is there, even the album art shows up on my MP3 players.
However, when I upload all this music to the G1 - it all reads as "unknown artist" "unknown album" - with no album artwork and no organization of the music...
anyone have an idea?
Very weird, mounted it to the computer, unmounted and went back to music, all working now....
Yeah mine did that as well, must be a bug. Tunewiki is a great music app in the market and it blows away the default music player!!!
Yeah I like Tune-Wiki. I personally, actually really like the default music player on the device. I love the simplicity of it and it just seems to work really well. An equalizer would be nice but thats about the only thing I think it's missing.
I think there is still a bug though, as out of 2,000 songs - I have 849 "unknown" - when I check the songs files they show proper tagging.
I may drop them all into "Tag and Rename" later tonight and see if that does the trick.
I have an issue with the media player not recognizing some of my album art...all of the files are of the same size/type, tags were all created with the same program, yet when I put all the songs on my sd card, only half of the album art shows up.
I'm not one to complain, but if I'm putting in all this EXTRA effort to make my album art show up(not the simple folder.jpg) I'd like it to all work, not just some of it. :-( WTF!
Exactly, I'm having half my album art not show up, and half the songs not being recognized. It sucks.
Yet they were ALL created using the same software and all tagged the same.
I wonder if it's filenames that start with a number, or a syntax issue --- might be worth looking into.
i am having same issue with tunewiki.... i dropped about 15 albums onto the sd card and it recognised only 2 of them- the rest are unknown and all have correct ide tags- checked with 2 different programs!
Do we know if they are working on this issue? I tried to find their contact on the website but got nothing.... fairly useless website actually.
Must be something to do with the G1 though as the default player does the same!

i agree about the EQ in the default player.
so does anyone have a fix for the G1 not recognising ID3 tags?
Guys, do you have that many problems with the Musictab too?
Playlists are very important for me, so I create playlists on my PC and tried to use them with the Musictab.
Musictab finds the Playlists, but is mess up the covers, it only shows one cover for all songs.
And sometimes the Musictab doesn't cognition them after I set new ones on the card.
Any experience?
The other thing is that videos are never floating. They always bucking the first seconds or when I jump to a nother scene.
Any experience here?
This problem was the reason why I will switch to the iphone, cause the media peformance is very imporant for me.
And it's still so callow on TouchFlo (WM devices).
For the video performance issue, just use Coreplayer Mobile. It manages to run atleast realtime on all videos I've thrown at it.
I wouldn't waste more time with HTC Audio. I spent months and months trying to get it to work without success. I now use Coreplayer for all media needs and it works extremely well. Cheaper than an iPhone as well with better user control of managing files IMO.
Edit: For playlists I recommend the standalone application PlaylistMgr - very simple and effective.
But the Coreplayer isn't fingerfriendly! Why does the HTC Video application work so bad?

Wished I would know that before. I set my Phone on eBay know.
Do you or someone else use this program?
If you create playlists with it, it works perfectly on the musictab (HTC Audio Manager)? The songs in the playlist has got all their own covers an so one? I had a lot of problems with the covers, the musictab only used one for the whole playlist.

I understand what you mean about swiping with fingers but I went through a lot of hassle because I wanted all that too and it was all a waste of time. Really the quality I am getting from CorePlayer surpasses any need for finger friendliness. CorePlayer is still very useable with fingers anyway using menus and I never use stylus.
PlaylistMgr has an option to save playlists in all formats including HTC Audiomanager format so yes you can create and then play in HTC Audio.
Regarding album covers/artwork I think the easiest way is to embed the art work on the computer using iTunes or similar. I do this and everything shows up in HTC Audiomanager and Coreplayer. I also spent a bit of time messing around with folder.jpg etc.. and sometimes it worked sometimes not. Album Art looks really good in Coreplayer.
I'm asking myselfe, why it' has to be that complicated to create a nice working playlist with a 600 EUR device.
Choosing a folder on the storage card and putting every song of if into a playlist, every song shown with the right albumart is possible on every walkman mobile mobile these days, but not on a 600 EUR Smartphone? That's absurd.
Yes coreplayer is maybe good, but I want a stylish fingerfriendly software for music, and the music tab ist stylish and fingerfriendly but it mess up in practice.
And videos should be playling floatly by stock too.

I find Coreplayer looks better using the attached skin in case it helps.
Ive tried searching and googling but I cannot find the best dedicated Music app for the HTC touch pro.
Any help would be fantastic. thanks.
Personally, my favorite app to play audio is TCPMP. It is lightweight, but highly customizable. It is the only app I know that allows you to control playback speed (something I like).
i ve a wired headset w/all the playing buttons (play-stop,pause,vol+-,etc) and it only works with windows media playe. At least without making some reg changes.
I use Nitrogen. It's one of my favorites.
I use HTC Audio Manager. It looks clean and it recognizes the playlists I created in Win Media Player.
the best has to be Pocket Music hands down, it has way more features and options than any of the above and i know coz i've used all of them, Pocket Music lets you customize it heaps and it includes radio FM and tons of equalizers, playlists and skins etc, it's awesome.
me too
I am also searching for a better audio player. The windows media player that come with my room is a big brick of SH*T. I hate it, while playing, the music stop when end, and looks like the phone is dead. Too slow.
Coreplayer is good, but dont have much options and crashes.
The one i am using now is Pocket music player, but it also have a lot of bugs and CRASHES too, at least have so many options, and its a lot flexible. and thats what i want, but there is a delay when changing music ( i dont know why, is this configurable?) that i really dont like.
any one knows something better than Pocked music?
how about S2P?
It's my favorite APP with WM6.5 HTC Touch Pro...
I like Nitrogen too. It has nice looking skins and I like using the sleep timer.

I like Conduits Pocket Player better. Check it out.
My vote goes to S2P - combined with S2U2 it is absolutely perfect
I'm missing some features though like playlists or viewing some additional info (bitrate etc.)
I like s2p for music and pocket player for podcasts, PP has a great bookmarking feature that alot of others don't have
I like windows media player mobile. Coz it supports my audio adapter hardware buttons. But I miss the sleep/close/pause timer on it.
PocketMusic in Hermes 2 months ago, now TouchFLO Music Tab
I had used PocketMusic on my Dopod 838 Pro (HTC Hermes)..
It has features I need :
Sleep Timer
Playlist
Control playing with Hardware buttons even when minimized (like in Nokia XpressMusic)
Bass Boost
Now, I'm using the built-in TouchFLO 3D 2.1 dedicated Music Tab on my HTC Touch Pro..
Now, I need a player with PocketMusic features that can replace the Music Tab (because I love the integration), also better if it has integration with S2U2
S2P hides the taskbar, right?
I have a problem that i noticed when i started to use poweramp and than with playerpro, i don't remember if this happened with the stock player too.
I have a lot of songs that i put in my microsd, which had the right tag on my pc and in the firsts time on the phone, but after some time some songs changed, for example, the artist name to Unknown Artist, and now even if I change them the tag it remain like this.
What can i do to solve this issue? is this problem caused by the player or by something else?
Thanks everybody
