I've been Googling a bit to see why the person's name doesn't show up when they call me-- only their number shows up.
I use Rogers Wireless here in Canada.
Some places said the name comes up if you call in to DISABLE the Name Display option of Caller ID, so I tried that but it still doesn't work.
now I came across some thread in 2007 saying that the Rogers Hermes ROM supports it for Windows Mobile........
Can anyone cook up a little app or find out how to get it to work? I doubt it's because I'm using an X1i in North America is it? (X1a ROM installed). For cellular Caller ID it's a universal standard right? I know that for landlines the transmitted Caller ID data is not a universal standard.
try to use Yota Dialer + Contacts

can anybody tell me the MAJOR variations between the UK and US versions of voice command, i know right off the bat it sounds like a noob comment, but i have an idea in mind. Basically the biggest question is the dialing feature, being UK does not use the same dialing format as the us. I really appreciate any feedback.
My brother uses US 1.6. I think what you'll find is that the voice is different. Other than that probably not much different. I think it uses contacts for dialing in addition to dialing number you speak. Either way I don't think it is concerned with the format. Seems it would dial whatever numbers you speak or have recorded in your contacts.
I think the number format is the main difference, other than dodgey, robotic accents.
MSVC UK - Call KD8DNS Mobile
MSVC US - Call KD8DNS Cell
I set my phone (AT&T Tilt) to block all outgoing caller ID and would like to be able to selectively turn this off by adding the usual #code prefix (usually *82 in the US) to the dialed number. Apparently, once you set the tilt to do this, you can not unblock the number without going back into phone settings and changing this setting. I spoke to AT&T who could not offer an answer or solution and they sent me to HTC who said it is a feature of WM and there is no solution unless the carrier provides one. I am never sure if AT&T support really knows the right answer - has anyone else dealt with this - is there any other code/#prefix that works or any other possible solution
Thanks!
Not sure if the codes are network dependent, but on Vodafone in the UK i dial *31# plus the number to dial. This will show my number for this call only.
HTH
Did you read the manual??? NO!!!!
Go to phone, selectect menu, select options, go to services tab, select caller ID, click get network settings, then select the one you want. AT&T does not support *69 & *82 on the Tilt.
Hey - how do you think I set the device to block caller ID Einstein? How about you read the post next time
Hi all,
I have a question and I have searched the forum but I couldn't find anything on this. I really hate the built in Contacts Manager. It's slow and the picture Caller Id is very tiny. Is there anyway to permantly replace the built in contact manager with a software of my choice ? I have installed Inesoft Address Book and loved it. The problem is when a call comes in, the built in Caller Id will always be on top of Address Book's caller id.
If there is a topic somewhere in this forum then please point me to the right direction.
Thanks.
I have the same problem
I've installed Inesoft Address book on my new HTC Diamond SPRINT, and I love it. However it conflicts with built-in dialer/callerid. On incoming call I see first the original caller id screen then after a second Inesoft one. On the call end it comes back to the original dialpad and not the Inesoft one. can I completly disable the built in dialer and caller id ? Do you have a solution?
Did a quick search and didn't find anything. I've been having problems with my caller ID function.
Case 1: a call from a non contact/sim number came in which should only show their phone number. Instead, it showed up as my previous caller (best friend) so i picked up and found that the caller called the wrong number.
Case 2: i've been having one caller show up as another until i removed the incorrect caller completely from my phone. In other words, Robert showed up when KC was calling so had to delete Robert entry.
i'm using S2U2 ver. 2.03.
any clues? thanks.
Hi
I am looking for a solution to quickly change if I want my caller id to be shown on outgoing calls.
I know there is the gsm command #31# but this doesn't work with international numbers nad sometimes even not with local numbers.
I know there is a setting in "settings" but this is quite a hassle always going through several pages of settings.
My anycut doesn'T work on Android 1.6 anymore.
So anyone has an idea for a shortcut or a widget to show and not show the caller id on outgoing calls?
Thanx
