Sorry to bother people, but i hope someone can give me some suggestions.
I want to set up a workflow to geotag my photos. THe camera has no GPS support, so i would like to use the cell phone as a Datalogger, merge this data with the images, then import the tagged photos into iPhoto.
So can anyone recommend a simple GPS data logger for the Touch Pro/Fuze that can run in the background for extended periods.
Thanks
GPSToday has such a function, I never tried it...
www.geoterrestrial.com
GPSToday is dang good. Thx for the link...
I just took this pic of my brother (yeah, terrible quality. I'm drunk. Big whoop. Wanna fight?), and used GPSToday to geotag it. Uploaded to Picasa, and see the mappy goodness...
The COOLEST thing EVER is that it tags the photos in a folder you specify. So essentially you could tag a bunch of pictures that you took with ANY camera, as long as you copy those pics to a storage card and let GPSToday tag them.
You really have no idea how much time I spent dreaming up this app over the past 2 days. Thanks again for the link. Time to tag a bunch of the pics I took with my DSLR...
NS
OSMTracker is pretty good...

I'm not sure if the GPS camera option is actually taking photos and storing GPS data. The LAT/LONG data is not in the exif of any photos I've taken using the GPS camera. I've taken pictures with and without GPS test running in the background. And yes I had a GPS fix when I've tried taking these pictures.
Can anyone confirm or deny please? Please tell me what I'm doing incorrectly.

sure, it works great

Dude... It is receiver not transmitter and also airplane has GPS, so who would care
Anyway: POLL:
What do you think will happen if you will cross the 1000 km/h speed?
a) Phone explodes!
b) nothing, it counts from 0 again as it has only 3 digits for speed in TomTom
Thanks guys. What are you using the view the location data? Maybe I'm just not using the right program.

google earth?
I use ExifRead to see the Lat/Lon coordinates, then just find it in Google Earth. I believe you can get it here: http://www.tawbaware.com/exifread.zip

Maybe you will go somewhere, take a photo of something interesting, after some time find the photo in your archive and ask "Where the hell did I take this one?"
BUM! GPS info and you're back from pre-Alzheimer stage
can i ask you which program have you used to see the Exif information?
i'd like to put my GPS photo in google earth but i don't know what i've to do
Picasa will read the pictures but you (well I) need to modify the Exif data before I import them otherwise the GPS co-ords are not read. Once Picasa can see the GPS data then it will upload to your web albums.
I use: exiftool <foldername> -r -GPSVersionID=2.2.0.0

I can at least tell u what will happen if you keep up high speed for a couple of time (in other words: move some hundreds of kilometres):

I used Irfanview with the "EXIF Plugin" installed. When you view the EXIF Data there is a button in the corner, that sends you right to the location in Google Earth.

I had trouble with this too at first anyway. I presume you already had the GPS option or you have enabled the GPS option for your camera (my UK T-Mobile MDA Vario III had it disabled by default!)?
If so, take the picture, then go here www.gpsvisualizer.com
It's very simple - you upload the picture, choose the output format and click GO!

Hello, I need some help. I have lots of GPS _xxx.jpg photos taken by TyTN GPS Photo. All of them shown GPS coordinates in their EXIF info when I view them in ACDSee. None of them can shown their locations in Google Maps when I upload them to Picasaweb.
I downloaded exiftool but when I type your stated command line commands, it said the file not found GPSVersionID=2.2.0.0
Would you further advise me how can I "fix" these photos so that Picasaweb can correctly show their locations in Google Maps?
Thanks.
flickr reads the location correctly. for me i just email the photos to my flickr account and then you can map out all you pictures on their site. you do need to turn on the gps option in your flickr settings.

Haa Haa good one..Yup Google is about only Exif capable app at the mo.
As for using any receiver on a plane....GODDAM you are at 30,000 feet on average most of the time, do you not think that ANY delicate TX/RX lines are not sheilded from external radio sources at that height?? Internal sheilding is just the same...pretext was, they wern't sure of radio interference...THAT was 8 years ago...Now they are sure...that they can charge money for you using your phone or WiFi on a plane safely...Money, Money MONEY...

Yeah, plus I had phone/wifi/bt turned of. Only GPS turned on, which is just a receiver.
A portable DVD-player or an electric razor sends out much more radiation than that.
Look i searched but i cant figure it out. O.k. i put the nadavi camera .cab on my tilt and i noticed a photo selection called (GPS) so i tryed it. but i guess the main question is what does it do. I even noticed that it activates the gps. so again what does this do and what is the use for this thing? i appreciate any help.
The key with searches is reading what you find!
Sorry, couldn't resist. Anyway, the picture is taken & encoded with exif data. When formatted properly you can see the location the picture was taken at in google earth. There are a few programs that can upload & view the location in a map as well. I guess it can be used for documenting road trips, scouting for hunts, geological tracking, etc.
thank you, thank you, thank you. That was a quick reply and i appreciate it
Initially accidently posted this in the Diamond forum...
Happy Holidays.
After reading a post here or in another forum I stumbled across a program called BARCORAMA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=368798
Its a program that lets you scan UPC barcodes with your camera and then goes out to the internet to let you find the lowest price online for that item...already saved me quite a bit...and made shopping feel sortof fun for once...fealt like a spy..LOL
Works Awesome on my touch Pro...strangely seems to work better when I zoom to 2x and take the picture than when im in close

I got the app working great on a touch pro.
Except I changed the default to pop open skyfire for the browser, and also piped it into Google shopping search engine, rather than just google. B/c in shopping it already shows the prices and places to buy.
Neat app! Thanks. Minor suggestion, offer the ability to put a path for the images and / or a way to name it when you shoot the UPC.

What URL did you use to make it use Google Shopping search engine?

I'm not really sure what you mean by this. My search is
http://www.google.com/search?q=!###!
did you add the +100... in that string? Sorry for the silly question, and thanks for the help if you can answer.

open the app, go into settings and hit the right arrow until you see the google address. then replace the word "search" with "products"
EDIT: works well. i zapped every item on my desk at work and it found them all.

LOL...no, sorry for the misunder standing. I was trying to add credability to the other guys post of pointing it to google shop instead of just google. I wanted to just put +1 as in I am also wanting this, but you have to have 10 characters to make a post.
mine is not working everything i scan says no barcode i have the pro and question what is it suppose 2 say for program 2 run
does anybody have an idea of why its not working
Zoom in to 2.0 on the camera and try again.
still not working do i have 2 upgrade the rom 2 use this program
is there a cab file for this? or how do install this to my phone? just use sync and drag and drop it into my program files??
yeah I found Standing further away from the barcode and doing a 2.0 Zoom really helped...I make the barcode fill the screen and make sure its sharply focused before taking the picture...
...In terms of how to install...i created a folder called Shopping in my Windows/Start Menu/Programs folder and dropped the EXE file in there...You will then see the folder in your Windows/Programs area....i put it in its own folder because it saves each barcode where the program is installed and i didnt want them in my programs menu.
Yeahh....I found a new way to kill time and kill my battery...lol
I've run out of things to scan around the house.
I now know the best prices of everything in my work place...lol
I even depressed a few when I showed them better prices......
Walmart thinks I'm a spy...lol....had to turn of the sounds while taking pictures of barcodes....Security was confused too.....
This really is an achievement! Thanks to the creator of Barcorama.....
To change to shopping in google
The above poster is right, just change search, in the http string to product and that's it. Then it shows you a listing of prices and locations, pretty slick.
As for the person not getting it to work, it won't work if you're megapixels is set to 3MP, I dropped mine down to 1MP and that did it for me.
James
More things to scan
Hey noellenchris, don't forget all your cd's and coffee table books, or IT books....
I even scanned a can of Progresso soup and it found it. Crazy.

Keep your phone upright when you take the picture. I found if I turned the phone sideways and took the picture, it would not find the barcode. Keep the phone straight up and down when you take the pic.
I changed my camera to take a picture on Touch instead of Touch and Press. Right after it autofocuses, it'll take the picture. Getting much better results this way since when I would use Touch and Press, when I would press to take the picture, my hand would move.
Hi gang,
I've made the switch from a HTC S730 to a Tytn II, and i'm enjoying the phone more & more, but there are still some gaps i need to fill.
One of the things i'd like to do is use the GPS together with a note-taking (or dictating) application to make small notes of things i encounter on my walks, has anyone ever heard of such an application?
Another thing i've yet to find is a nice site with themes for this phone, i'd love a theme that has a (much) smaller HTC Home plugin, the watch alone takes up way too much space, any pointers?
the only thing the comes close to your first request is GPS2Clipboard
GPS Tuner is a very good offroad GPS app, you can save a waypoint in 2 clicks and write a description when saving. The description should be passed on when you export to Google Earth and such, but I've never tried. You might want to download the trial and see if it suits you.
Try NoniGPSplot? Thats a nicely featured tracking application which plots your travels on a self-imported map, which in turn you can export to eg, Google Earth -gives a great effect of zooming into your track. Freeware but I liked it so much I made a donation.
Anyways, re voice notes: yes, NoniGPSplot can record record voice memos attached to a GPS location. I havent used that feature yet though.
Thx for the tips, i'll try them out
Just got D2 for a week. Happy with most features and function, with the help from this site!
I'd been using E71 and there's a quick function to upload photo to on-line album right after you shot yr photo. Just one click and done. This feature is pretty convenience.
Is there any similar apps / program to do this?
I've always used Shozu for uploading immediately to Flickr. I think it supports other services too.
Thanks, Seraph321.
I'll try Shozu and report if there's any issue.
