i am new to this area,
i have installed a few different roms on my x1 and i am considering what is the best rom out there as there are a lot of roms available to people.
please tell me wot rom u are using and why u choose that rom
thank you
I don't think there is sucha a thing as a best ROM it all depends on what you ask for in a ROM
i prefer charons lite and fast rom^^
it is a optimized ROM without any HTC gimmicks etc.^^ only Xperia ROM - lite and fast^^(it is realy fast^^) of Course with UC
i think it is important that you find out what you want , an lite rom where you will install everything, then if you need english i would prefer jack's lite roms,
If you want more an full blown device with all apps inside then i would go with jacks full version or itjes roms.

cHarOn

This question has been asked tons of times before...
There's no such "best ROM" because everyone of us has different needs and tastes
May I suggest you to READ and SEARCH this subforum to find the one that better suites your own needs
BTW you could start your reading homework by opening the sticky X1 LIBRARY thread
its a hard and very spezial question. and very user spezific.
imho touch-it is a good choice.
it really depends what you use your phone for... to each his own...
in all honesty (and what i'm doing) is using the lightest rom i could find (Jack 2.1 IMO) and then installing everything i want on top of it. That way I have no bloatware... Its a lil more time consuming, but IMO is worth it
In an ideal world, there would be a matrix of all the available ROMs with a tick box for what it does or does not contain. If the world was uber ideal, it would have a scoring system based on those that has used it...!
(I'm not offering!)
I want TF3D, others don't, so we'd never agree on what is 'the best ROM', that's just a simple example.
best rom questions
these questions are not really welcome here
as they always end up in a flame war.....and for this reason

You can't go wrong flashing one of the newer 1.56-based roms out now. If you read the guide in my signature you can't go wrong
As cRaCKwHoRe said you can't go wrong with one of the newer 1.56 roms based on either WM6.1 or WM6.5
As for which is better, your opening a whole can of worms there mate. This has been asked before and closed done just as often by Mod's
There is no best rom, its user dependant on what you as the user is looking for as they're lite roms, heavy roms, roms built for speed etc etc etc
Best advice I can offer is to go into each rom thread, read up on each and if you like the look of one of them, try it out. If your not happy, try another.
I've flashed countless rom's (60+) and I'm still not 100% happy.
Each rom thread should provide installation guides or direct you to them, though you couldn't go wrong with cRaCKwHoRe's
I'm personally testing Duttys V3.0 which isn't released yet, but should be in the next few days. Could be worth waiting for, though I'd maybe read up on others and try flashing to get accustomed to the process
Happy searching and I hope you find the right rom for you!!
Seriously, I envy all of you experts here! Would make a mobile life more easy ;-)
I like to try another ROM. I've read the tutorial, which makes flashing sound quite easy, and I've seen quite some custom made ROMs fly by here. Point is, I really don't know which one to try.
Currently I have a BLAC100 device, SPL-1.14 with the default ROM.
I'd like to have a stable ROM with everything up-to-date (a 1.56+ based rom I guess). Well, "everything", I was thinking of drivers and WM6.5 at least.
I've been searching here for more info which could help me decide, but I can't find any more information.
Could someone point me in the right direction? So I can manage for myself further on?
Tanks in advance
what has that to do with Rom Development ?
Just flash one, Dutty, Miri whatever
no fear my frind... hust try one of the latest miri, maryone und dutty's roms... they are alll very good.
I use the latest maryone with 23502-build and it works fine
If you have lots of time and a fast internet connection, go ahead and download and flash all of em.
I suggest those made by NRGZ though.. the Energy ROMS.
maybe xannytech roms because enrgyroms are full of bugs
but try by yourself and compare ,its the best way to find out wich rom is the best for YOU

just make sure you follow the tutorials, dummyguides step by step, and you will be alright, my opinion is Xannytechs rom are fast, stable and bugfree the only issues there are htc related so to speak. You want as close to stock rom byut still modified, try duttys, you want fancy look? try energys, and miri will always bring the flasher to a happy state of contentment its all a matter of what you want and need, some roms you gonna flash away after two hours, while others praise that one from morning til night.
so you have to test, download three four roms, try one out for a day or two, test next, and then you will be hooked for life
I feel that Miri and NRGZ had the best roms earlier, but lately Ive been using Xannytech. Less bugs with Xannytech roms.
I don't think opinion based threads are allowed on XDA-developers...
As hmmhmm1222 says, read well the tutorials and the dummy's guide.
There's a sticky benchmark thread for Blackstone ROMs take a look there to see how ROMs compare.
As for me, I look at the first page of a ROM thread for a description of the ROM and then the last couple of pages to see what issues people are having.
Ask 20 people what's the best ROM and you'll get 15 answers
Flash a couple and see what suits you.
Happy flashing - it's addictive

Thanks a lot for your replies! I have a clear idea where now to go from here.
I've always liked playing with different linux distributions, tweaking it all to the maximum and testing different lay-outs.
I'm not familiar yet with flashing my mobile, but I'm catching up by reading the wiki and tutorials, an amazing source of help really!
As long as you follow the tutorials you'll be fuine. Just take the plunge and flash one of the latest roms from one of the most popular chef's and you'll be fine, i.e. Duttythroy, Miri, NRG, PhamQuang, Maryone (Hellonasty) etc etc

It often is the latest stable software in the ROMs. And another thing.. It's better if you try some roms out. Its not so popular around here to ask about a god rom. It's a matter of taste and so on. Not so nice to other chefs if i, or any one else recommend a specific rom.
Check the thread about how to flash HSPL and just go nuts flashing and testing. Good luck!
Admin, please close.
Before anyone creates a new thread, the basic requirements for common decency would be to read the wiki, forum rules and use the 'search' function.
Now I understand that you are new, but your question(s) have been asked many times before.
FYI, a dummies guide thread exists for flashing. Also to ask an opinionated query is frowned upon in XDA as it creates endless long threads due to everyone having a different opinion. Best advice would be to read first few posts in each rom thread as this generally lists whats in each rom as well as providing a few screenshots of said rom. Then try a few roms to make your own conclusion on whats best for you

first thing is, do you know how to flash a custom/cooked ROM yet? if not start here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377
if you want to know which ROM best suits your needs, read on the ROM threads and find its features and best thing to do then is to flash this to your device and see if you like it and if you encounter any problem then post them in its corresponding thread, also
USE SEARCH THE WIKI - http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone
AND the FORUM RULES
i know how to install even i have one custom rom but its too slow and so many errors so please suggest somthing good

Best Rom for HD? No such thing bro as it ultimately comes down to personal preference.
Stable Rom? Here are a few names of chefs that I've found to be very stable... Energy, Miri, PhamQuang, and XannyTech.
As per above post. Try a few and make your own opinion as everyone's is different. This is why questions like yours are frowned upon in XDA....they create endless long threads due to everyone having a different opinion

Cant anyone get hold of the official ROM rite now..i want the OS badly..also, will the ROM have the 'time your panel' function once imported to X1...
PLz pzl: Im not looking for a cooked ROM, also, I asked in my last post but no1 answered, will the final OS of X2 have a start menu at the bottom???
I dont want it that way, i like the current one, black and white and top left...if it is going to be at the bottom, i dont mind a VERY VERY STABLE ROM (almost close to the original one) rite now...
where can i get such an X2 ROM rite now then...(only of the X2 ROM is going to have a start menu at the bottom)
Thanx a ton guys!
version 6.5.3 (aka build 28000) will have this bottom start menu. I wouldnt be surprise if there is no difference between these cooked roms and official x2 6.5, ofcourse both being 6.5
no..then can i have a build before 28000...but i want a real, clean and Un cooked ROM..where is my search bar???
im not sure why you do not want a cooked rom, there is no "stock" 6.5 at the moment. you can always try "pure" 6.5 cooked rom. its as close as the real 6.5

every rom is cooked. who cares if its done by sony ericsson or someone from here. do u think xda chefs are stupid? they know what they do and have probably more experience than anybody else in cooking. have u tried the original rom R1AA or R2AA? they had some bugs and were slow.
There will be no official X2 ROM for the X1....only ported over and cooked rom's by the chef's here....
Regards,
WC

The only option is to wait for a shipped ROM of X2 and then we can hope Jerpelea can cook a stable build out of it. With my experience of X1, I am not sure if Sony would let that out before february. Correct me if I am wrong guys....
I really don't mind cooking, becasue I trust chefs in XDA
I really want a X2 ROM cooked for X1, just cut out some features not supported on X1, and it will be nice if it is stable and fast.
Could you tell me is there a ROM like this?

If you haven't noticed the few fortunate chef's that do have the X2 have been working non-stop since around Thanksgiving and earlier working on trying to port the X2 over. If you're so damn impatient buy the X2 and port it over yourself and you can be among the few who're working hard trying to make it work for the X1. And then you'll also have an X2 to play with!
Ok, first things first, i really dont underestimate or think the XDA chefs are stupid. That is for you, pansen222, secondly, its pure preference. if i want a clean, as-is ROM, its my choice. I wud not question anyone why they prefer cooked ROM. Its just that I have seen many threads of coooked ROMs having issues with the phone. im not the kinnda who will be flashing every day, i use my phone like a computer. we dont change our computer OS everyday do we????
just like that, I want to flash my phone purely for the sake of upgradig an OS....from 6.1 to 6.5...as simple as that.
For this, i want a stable, clean, as-is ROM...
Hope i have cleared everything.

Don't you think if there was a true ported X2 OS for our X1s it would be out and you would know about it just by looking at the threads? (Most likely would be sticked). Jerpleaa's ported X2 isn't 100% X2, but he's making a great effort trying to work with what he has.
I know I was rude with my first post, but you just sounded like an impatient little $**! the day before X-Mas.
I completely understand man...the kinnda noobs that are around(i know im one of them hehehe) But again, i prefer real,un-cooked ROMs as they are straight from the Sony factory (and i have some one to blame if something goes wrong heheheh...)
Wil keep an eye open for the X2 ROMs...BTW, where can i make the registry setting changes for the tilewave panel on my X1..Thanx a ton!

Can't complain to Sony if something doesn't work since the X2 was intended for the...X2, and not X1. And what registry changes are you talking about?

do you ever search for something yourself or just open threads that are mostly contained in already existing ones? and I still haven't understood what you mean with "real,un-cooked roms straight from Sony factory", that's stock roms dude, no need for xda-devs rom section for you then...
