Im just wondering how you change your text message allert to a song you have on your phone i got the ringtone in my ringtone folder on my device not storage and it doesnt find it
alright, first convert the song you want into a .wav file and then just put it in the windows folder. that's simple. check again your text message alert you will find your song and then use it.

does anyone have any program to convert mp3s to where u can use them as text alerts. i have a wing if it matters. Thanks in advance
I have the MP3's I want to use as ringtones in the main folder of my SD card and then the Wing automatically sees it and I just add it. Stock ROM, nothing different.
ya i can use them as ring tones for calls but not as incoming text messages
I have found that you can use mp3s as Text Message alerts if they are placed in the storage card\my documents folder rather than the storage card\my documents\my ringtones folder
I still have not been able to use them as alarm sounds without putting them as wav files in the main Windows folder which I don't care to do. But for system alert sounds, this seems to work
that worked thank u very much
Dont know why but i always put the wanted track in windows. not to smart huh? thanks for the easy fix!
i want to make text message notifcation say 'you got text messageing'. i tried to copy the sound files to windows directory, then when i select sound from notification setttings, it is not in the list, but show in incoming call ring list.
can anybody help?
convert to wav i guess
When I go to the settings to change the incoming text message notification there's a list of sounds to choose from (like "alert1" "alertglass" stuff like that). I tried looking through the file explorer but couldn't find this folder, I was wondering if anyone knows where it is so I can put some of my own sounds in there to use as notifications? Thanks.
all the files are in \Windows. they are system files so you will need to tell explorer to show all files so you can see them. if you want to add more sounds just drop the file into \Windows.
they have to be wav format too don't believe mp3 works
i have been able to use wma and wav file for notification.
p.s. put ringtones in \My Documents\My Ringtones\
I managed to use my own sounds in the events and messages alerts, loading them in Application Data\Sounds
How to ad mp3 as ring signal and sms signal in diamond2??
Kind regards/ F
You must put them in your " My Documents " map
Then they should be in the list of all the standard ringtones
I think you can just add them to the root of the storage card, or personally I add them to My Documents\My Ringtones.
I think SMS alerts are slightly different. I find you have to add them to the \windows directory.
Hope this helps - my first post!
Cheers,
James.
The ring tone can be of Mp3 format. Place the file in /mydevice/My Documents/Ringtones.
The sms alert tone MUST be in wav format. Mp3 format wil NOT work!
The sms alert tone (in wav format!) must be placed in the windows folder. E.g. /mydevice/windows.
Changing SMS alert tone is done in the following way on the phone:
1) Go to settings.
2) Press left soft key named advanced.
3) Select left soft key named personal.
3) Select sounds and messages.
4) Select number two tab named messages.
5) Select the new messages option and select the sms alert tone after own choice.
Changing ringtone is done in the same way with 5) being to select new call option.
On my D2 the audio files don't have to be .wav files. I use a normal .mp3 file as a text alert.
The only difference with my ringtone is that I have to place the text alert file in \my documents, whereas the files I use for my ringtone can be placed wherever I want.
Tones for sms must be in your Windows folder just put the tone you want in there. then go to sms tone and select.
trust me i have done it.....
Marko
For me it worked with SMS putting MP3s in Application Data/Sounds
I guess it deppends on the rom. I have the dutch one, and like I said: I have to place the files in the main \my documents folder.

Hey all,
I have had an Xperia for about 6 months now and one thing that i have been unable to do is set a custom text tone. For some reason it will only let me select from the default tones. I would be grateful if somebody could guide me to a way round this so i can set my own text tone.
Cheers in advance for any help offered.

Where is your mp3 song? it must be in the root directory of the SD Card or inside Xperia "My documents" folder.
Then you should be able to select it on settings --> personal --> phone

No, it does support mp3 for notifications. I currently have an mp3 for new sms.
it does support mp3 tones.
For text tones you have to put it into the Windows directory folder.
For call tones you have to put it into the My Documents>My ringtones folder.
where is the windows folder you have to put it into? sorry im new to all this
open your file explorer.. go up until u are at My Device. there you can see windows folder, open it and paste the mp3s or audio file(s) that you want them to appear in the text tone setting..
lol cheers that was well easy
