Anyone has an idea how to solve this?
i have installed the new RUU_Prodigy_2170706_21707106_20710_QTEK_FRA_Ship ROM on my qteck9100 and all went fine, all works perfectly execpt WIFI
Now each time i want to connect to my wifi network its goes on a neverending seraching, trying to connect end nothing.
I tryed wiht the WAP security on, without any security , without an mac adress filter but no way to connect.
i tryed also to go back to ROM RUU_Prodigy_2080702_102_11310_QTEK_FRA_Test that worked perfectly but i have an error message saying that the rom is not compatible with the device..
suggestions are welcome
thamks
sorry cant help too much, im in the same boat, tryed two different roms now, but no go
finds the network, asks if you want to connect, then after a few mins it stops trying to connect!
Also in the available networks list, they stay available even tho some of them i passed a mile or so ago in my car!
I finally could install RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE ROM and with the DJVW HTC Wizard Optimizer the Wifi wrok perfectly
with the old 2.08 test and the Optimizer, the wifi connection was fine.
Maybe with this last ROm 2,17 the Optimizer don't work ..
im running Custom_RUU_Wizard_1050402_101_11210_O2_ENG_CID.exe.html
but still not working for me, whats this, DJVW HTC Wizard Optimizer ? cheers
DJVW HTC Wizard Optimizer installed and still the same, ohwell,
I had the same problem until I adjusted the NIC power settings to favour better performance it would then connect..
I read somewhere on here that another user had to stand nearer to the AP to connect but once connected all was fine?
same issue for me ...

i had the k-jam ontop of the router, and nothing
I tryed the WIFI connection in a public place with a provider called
"monzoon" and its worked fine.
As this acces is a 802.11b i start really to belive that "Wizard optimizer" do not work with the new ROM
At home with my Belkin Pre-N router that works only on mode "G" and "B+G" i still have no connection.
There is no change if i change performance setting and by the way with the piblic network i was on "best battery" and not on "best performance"

problem with T MOBLE WING
I have the same problem , I even did try connect to my home Wifi it show connected ,but doesn't open to the website I want to ,can some one help, thanks
I had the same problem, I installed batterystatus, and checked the option to disable gprs when wlan is on, and now it works fine...
You don't need batterystatus to do this (the software just does it automatically for you), you can do it by yourself by disabling "data connection" in the connection manager whenever you turn on the wifi radio
-Hope it helps
t-mobile wing wifi problems
I had a similar problem with my wing. It would connect to unsecured WIFI networks and work flawlessly but when I connect to a secured network it would work for about 1 min then just hang while downloading a web page. If you device is doing this send it back to t-mobile and get a new one. This is what I had to do. hopefully you have a warranty.
I just got my T-Mobile Wing and I think I have the same problem. It just doesn't want to work with my WPA-secured Wi-Fi. When I switch WPA off, it works fine.
Did anyone else had a problem like this?
Called T-Mobile, they have nothing like that in their knowledge base.
I got this problem when i installed HTC 10 Button comm manager. I uninstalled it and WiFi works again.
Hope this helps
i have somewht of a similar problem, since ive had my Wing i have been unable to use my wi-fi, when i turn it on it says connected and shows me the lil meter and everythin but when i try browsing or downloadin it just hangs and does nothing until i turn the wi-fi off...i have no clue why i have learned to live without it but would appreciate any help...thanks
Try this it work for me. Whenever you want to connect to secure wpa do this before you make the connection
Start > Setting > Connections > Wifi Status > Power Mode > Move the slide "Best Performance"
Your wing should be able to connect to secure wpa.
Hope this help.

Make sure you disconnect from edge/gprs before you try to surf after you are connected to the wifi.

how exactly do i do this? is it what was explained about in the battery status menu and check marking the box 'disable proxy for wi-fi'...?
You can click on the little E or G on top and click on Disconnect.

i dont know how i ever survived without wi-fi....WOW....thank u
Thank Ayodeji13. He answered this in the 5th post. ^_^ But, yea, I've done the same thing before and was lucky to realize where the problem was coming from. Unfortunately, it didn't help me with the crappy wifi signal that my Wizard provided me. The wing, on the other hand, is MUCH better at this.

Thanks mate... I too was having issues connecting to wifi... its kind of strange... it was connecting to my home network for sometime but later it suddenly stopped. It will connect to other networks but not to my secured network. Today I tried the setting you mentioned and surprisingly my phone connected to my home network... I wonder why because this setting should improve the performance and not the connectivity itself... Thanks again
you can add me to the list of people with wifi issues. I can't connect to my wireless router and I'm stand two feet away from it. It shows up but when I try to connect it says unavailable. I've done everything from turning the data off, to setting the power to best performance but it won't connect.
I need help... Whenever I connect it says I'm connected but actually I'm not. Yesterday I could view directions using live search but couldnt browse the web, not i cant do both. it gets stuck on the locating... part of loading the website. sometimes it gets to opening but the KB bar doesnt come up and it gives me some 500 internal error, or page doesn't exist. I cant do the best performance thing because im using touch it 2.3 rom and i dont have wifi status anymore.
WHY DO YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THAT STUF?!! URGH! I dont even have msn!
But anyways, can someone help me connect to the internet?...
TRY THIS
I have the same problem, i i manage to fix my wifi connectivity by editing the registry.....try this at your own risk.....but swear it works for me. i used total commander to edit registry and go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > HTC > Comm Manager >
then you will see folders 0 - 8 or some only have 0 - 7 ,delete folders 6 and up ........ ( I JUST MOVE MINE instead of DELETING IT< I MOVE IT TO STORAGE CARD SO IF SOMETHIN GOFF UP I CAN JUST PUT IT BACK )....
SOFT RESET then try turn your wifi ON , connect to your network.... til me if this works for u guys...
i think the value of those folders are bum hehehehe thats why it wont connect......., after connecting to your wifi secured or not , it will create another folder and add those folders back by default...but this time the good settings lolz its worth a try !
Ok this is realy frustrating. My wing was getting on my secured home network and npw it dose not. I read all the post and have tried some (the ones that I could understand). I dont have the option under battery status to disable gspr or gpsr. And my system is vista 64 so total commder dosen seem to work for reg settings(edits). I can conect to unsecure networks but I cant to my hone (secure) network. I have in the past but it dsent ssem to work now?
My wifi seems to disconnect from my wifi when the screen turns off, despite me having changed my settings to never sleep. When I look at the wifi settings it says "Unsuccessful Connection". I didn't have this problem with my MT3G.
Anyone having similiar issues or a fix?
wifi Reconnection issues
I'm having the same problems with mine.
It initially connects to wifi fine but when the screen goes off it sometimes drops the connection and will not reconnect without a reboot.
I have tried setting it to keep the wifi when sleeping but it makes no difference.
I found a few similar reports elsewhere and followed most of the suggestions, like changing routers, changing wifi channels, setting an IP address instead of DHCP etc. Nothing seems to make any difference so far.
Mine never seems to reconnect after waking up, but I just go into the Wireless settings/Wifi settings window (where it lists all the Wifi networks in the area) and press on the network name and it brings up a dialog allowing me to connect again. I press the Connect button and it instantly reconnects. No reboot required...
Try increase your router's "Group Key Update Interval". I had the same problem with my D-Link DIR-655. I changed mine to 10 hours and it's working fine for me now.
i have the issus that my wifi is "connected" i mean i see the logo at the top bar but after a few minutes i don't get any update from the internet like gmail oder twitter when is wake up the device from sleep i get them back again
maybe it something with the Group Key Intervall but i can't switch it on my speedport w700v router
I just tried switching mine, highest it can go is 7200 seconds, so I bumped it to two hours instead of one. linksys
my wifi reconnects when I wake the screen almost 100% but it's not reliable.
I have to go to wifi list and reconnect. Sometimes I disable wifi and then re enable, conects no problem. Irritating
i heared that switching the encryption from wpa/wpa2 to only wpa2 will solve this issues, will try it when i am at home
...seems like almost everybody got this problem.
for example with my Hero i don't had this problems so it's something with the W-Lan card of the Nexus
Got this problem too but will try the suggested work arounds when I get home tonight
found out that my encryption is wpa2 not wpa/wpa2 ... damn so thats not the reason
and my router cant configure the group key intervall
I don't have this issue, running CM5.0.3.1, mine is set to Never Sleep and it does not. My connection does not time out either. I connect to two Trendnet TEW-637AP's at home, in mixed b/g/n mode with WPA2-PSK mode security.
Could it be, that this prob exists just for nonrooted phones?!
i've got mcr 1.6 which is rooted and don't work
i think it's a problem with the wifi card and the wifi router
rooting just means that you get read/write access to all folders
doesn't change anything on your wifi connection

Not exactly, it means also modified system files, which could include those that interface with the wifi chip and those that control the sleep state of the device.
Also, Cyanogen (and most other custom roms now) are running on a different (newer) kernel.
yes i know
but mcr is although running on different kernel and it's not working there
i don't think its an issue bei the stock rom and mcr
maybe here is someone with CM where the wifi drops?
edit:
okay i tried it with the desire rom version from modaco, the same failures, maybe i try a CM built now, and see if it changes
Code:
[B]Rom [/B] [B]Router / Access Point[/B]
MCR 1.6 | Speedport w700v | not working
Desire MCR | Speedport w700v | not working
CM 5.0.3.1 | Speedport w700v | not working
i think this means it's not a rom issue, its something with the routers and access points in combination of the wifi card from the nexus
That´s strange..perhaps just accidentally, but: yesterday I installed "Task Manager" , which has an auto-kill function.....since then my Wifi reconnects perfectly
maybe because it automatically does anything inside of the 10 minutes which keeps the wifi active?
which one did you install?
there are a lot of them on the market
which developer?
edit:
ah i found a strange issue, today i was at the wifi of my girlfriend, she has the same router BUT i don't have the wifi problems there, with the same model of router thats very strange
i found another work around, i set my twitter client to 5 minutes update intervall, this means every 5 minutes is network traffic and the connection won't drop after my 10 minutes public key intervall change
don't know how much battery is used while setting from 10 to 5 minutes but i think it should be okay
Try a different WiFi channel
I've seen reports of WiFi connection problems being solved by changing channels on the AP. Channel 10 seems to be a consistently reliable choice.
please help me my g1 cant detect any wifi access point on my area.. there are 3 hotspots here with good signals strenght.. i don't know what happened to my g1 it just keep on scanning but it doesnt detect any wifi access point..
I used to own a G1 and I thought that the wi-fi connectivity was very poor on that device. All I can say is to either retry by turning on/off the wi-fi and see if it will connect. Hope that helps.
did you try re-flashing the rom?
Had exactly the same problem, some roms picked up my wifi connection and others didn't, from the wifi menu in settings select advanced. Change the amount of channels from 11 to 14. Phone picked it up no bother then,

But it works fine in my home computer!!!!!!! i have dyanmic IP setting in TPLink router. my question is this my phone problem or wifi router or broadband problem.
Thanks,
jithupm17
You can rule out the phone as the issue if it works fine on other networks. Your PC on your home network, is it wired or wireless?
Sent from my HTC Desire C using xda premium
If you have slow wifi, someone on your network, must be downloading a torrent, or downloading stuff. Bottlenecking ur connection.
