This is the second time my wifi has stopped functioning correctly because of this program.
I love the app, its the only one of its kind, but i dont want to hard reset again because of it.
The first time it went bad, i could not enable my wifi anymore at all...
Now my device (touch pro) will not connect to its own Ad hoc network. I can turn on WMWifirouter and it says connected, but the wifi connection just says "connecting" and never connects.
The other problem is that i cannot uninstal WMWifiRouter to reinstal it. It fails no matter how i do it (over active sync, or on the device itself).
The crash clean up does nothing, ive tried deleting and recreating the ad hoc connection, and still nothing...
Is there a utility to reset wifi on my phone? im going to have to hard reset again arent I?.....
F#ck!!!
yeah my wifi doesnt work after either. its just what the program does. if i soft reset i get wifi back. i dont need to uninstall and dont want to break my working install you may just have to hard reset. im also in houston and have constant 3g which is faster and more reliable than my home dsl so im not hard pressed not to have wifi.

Unfortunately, I've always had the same problem with my secured network with both my MDA(HTC WIZARD) and my Wing(HTC Herald). Do you have Dlink router, by any chance?
Originally change the wifi settings, removing 4X mode and placing the TX rate to 11mb and not 22mb fixed the problem but the problem is back (but so is the 22mbps apparently..)
Just changed it back to 11mbps and it worked!!!
i have my network runnin off a linksys wireless b router model befw1154..and yea i tried changin them settins and still nothing like i said it still sees it and tries to connect but wont ....
I've got a similar problem. Secured network at home (Dlink 614+), won't connect. It'll go from connecting to unavailable, then available again. I've narrowed it down to the router (I think). Every time I change a setting on the router, it reboots itself. Directly after the reboot, I can connect with my wing and stay connected. As soon as I disconnect and try to reconnect, it won't do it. So my only fix so far is to reboot the router when I get home and keep the wifi on.
One time, I went out to get a haircut and connected to a wifi network around there, then as I came home, it was able to connect. Maybe it has to do with the wing "refreshing" a cache or something.
I haven't tried the 11mbps thing posted above. I'll have to try it when I get home. Hopefully that'll fix it, because constant rebooting of the router or finding another wifi spot isn't a real solution for me. I hope the wing will get a software upgrade or something that'll make it more compatible with more routers.
I have the same 614+, so it might work for you. I mean, it still happens but not as much as it did before.
I have a Tilt with the stock AT&T ROM and HardSPL. I keep the HSDPA data on all the time and connect to my wireless access point while at home.
I understand and am fine with wifi disconnecting in sleep mode - email still checks using HSDPA. What normally happens is when I power the Tilt back from sleep the WiFi connects back to my access point.
I've noticed more than a few times however that coming out of sleep WiFi doesn't even attempt to reconnect to the access point. It is on in Comm Manager and appears to be associated with my AP, but checking the IP online shows an AT&T IP addr, not my CATV provider.
The only way to get back on WiFi is to shut off the phone (or reset). I don't want to keep WiFi on while in standby, I just want it to reconnect when it should.
Has anyone seen this behaviour?
Cheers,
Todd
Wifi access point problem
I had a problem where suddenly after months of use with my home wifi router, it suddenly would not connect with the router anymore. Would show that it was trying to connect, and then would suddenly not connect and try another router on the list.
I tried reseting and everything. Tried re-entering the password for my router as I thought that was the problem. finally the only fix i found to work was to actually delete the access point from the phone... then reset and then let it find it all over again from scratch. And miraculously that time it worked.
I know this is not exactly your problem, but hope it helps.
I will try that and see what happens. It seems whatever sub-routine that turns the wifi on isn't running at times and doesn't even attempt to search.
What happens is that the wifi shows connected with good signal strength, both with public access points and my router at home, but I can't access the internet, browsers, weather updates, etc. don't work at all. Opera just shows error connecting to the remote network. GPRS works fine and the browser connects, no idea about 3G as I don't have it. A USB connection works fine too, no problem using the internet with that.
It happens after a few days of using the rom before this problem comes up. I've had this problem for two different roms I've tried. Not too sure what's causing it but a hard reset seems to fix it, but I don't want to keep doing that either. Tried looking around the settings that might cause this, but I can't find anything that seems to cause it.
Anyone have any ideas?
If it works after a hard reset/ROM flash, then eventually "breaks", it might be a 3rd-party application that's causing the problem.
I'm really astonished that this is happening...and I can't figure out why. My neighbors just got a wireless router hooked up, and i get about 1 bars worth of signal at my house. It is an unsecured connection and my Kaiser keeps connecting to it whenever I turn on Wifi. It will no longer connect to my wifi network no matter what I do. I click on my network in wifi settings and hit 'connect' and then it connects to my neighbors again...I delete it, start over...and no matter what I do it always connects to it. It's obviously some sort of glitch...any ideas on how to fix without a hard reset which is what I'm about to do because it is so frustrating. Everything I use is wireless, and nothing else was affected...just my Kaiser. Anyone had this happen to them before?

get your own internet connection and stop stealing signal from your neighbors!.
On another note, try to set your connection instead of best battery try best performance settings>wifi>advanced>power(sorry dude, if these are not the correct names, but I'm on my touch 2 phone with WM 6.5 spanish rom ..)
I'm on stock AT&T Tilt Rom WM6.1 I've tried all settings available through the Windows UI. So it must be somewhere in the registry that I need to change. I can delete all networks and scan for new ones...two come up...mine, and the new (neighbors)...I've been connecting to mine automatically for years now....and even if I click connect on my network...after its all said and done with the logging in...it connects to the wrong one still...grrrrr
Hey, in the last few weeks I've run into a very annoying bug on my phone. Wi-fi turns itself off after about 2 minutes. It doesn't actually "turn itself off" in the phone - and by that I mean that the wifi icon is still there, and I can see the signal strength, but the internet won't work.
In order to fix it, I have to turn the wifi off and then on again.
I've tried using the Wifi Fixer application, but it doesn't help. It can't seem to detect when I lose my internet connection.
I've also troubleshooted it, checking that it occurs on different routers/types of networks.
I'm sure it's a problem with my phone, but I dont really want to reformat my phone until Froyo comes (since I don't want to have to install all my apps twice).
Is there any solution to this? ;z
I'm on stock rom, JF3, with OCLF.
I have the same problem with my phone. My Wi-Fi at home works just fine, but when I go to my brother's house, I seem to occasionally lose internet connection even though it shows that it's still connected to the Wi-Fi. I have stock Bell ROM with OCLF by RyanZA. Oh, and to fix it I simply turn Wi-Fi off, and then on, and it starts working again.
Bump :x
Anyone have a solution?
