Help please

I have a new HTC Kaiser, just come from a N95 8GB and have to use the Kaiser as my corporate phone. I am having real trouble as it locks up and freezes ... can't click the start button, texts dont open etc etc button presses take ages to register. Other times it is really fast... (I dont have lots of apps open) This is an unbranded , unlocked unit so I dont know why I am having all this trouble as I have installed nothing onto it.
What should I do ... It does seem to be a software thing, the device firmware is cd os 5.1.1620 (18215.0.4.2).
I just want it to be fast and responsive and work well as a phone... I hope i am not asking to much
Any suggestions would be welcome, I had a look at all the firmwares, but not sure where to start.

flash a new rom and see how it is?

that was my point, there a lot of roms to choose from ... What would you suggest....

dutty dutty dutty.. from my personal experience duttys are the ones with the most features and really speedy as well.. but try different ones out and see which one works for you

i would suggest a hard reset and see if that solves ur problem.
the rom i have in my sig is very fast and responsive.

L26! L26! L26! I enjoy his ROMs throughly. You will notice that everyone has his or her own opinion. And once you get the Bite on one, you'll want to keep trying.

Please forgive my ignorance but I dont have a clue what you guys are talking about... I originally was looking to see if there was a firmware upgrade for the Tytn 2 since Nov last year?
Upon stumbling on this thread I am very interested to know more... Is there a dummy's guide to doing what you describe above?

I am a regular user of this forum, witch is great!
But lately I when reading in the forum, I see a lot of complaining and ruud behavior when someone tries to post a question. Either people are told to search or they are on the wrong thread.
Why so ruud? noticed this is spesially senior members!!
why not try to help or point them in the right direction?
There are more replies on how"stupid" the question rather than just giving an answer or not reply at all
Just my thoughts!

I think it is the wm dialer (dont like it.) too much free space on the top.

I try both.both are fast and now I stay davideuck I like the HTC Dialer

The reason is, ppl never bother to read the directions and rules set out in the forum, this thread is really not a contribution and does not comply with the specified layouts set out in starting a new thread. Admitably this topic does have some bearing but still its not really necassary.
Yes, you should be afraid of posting its a good thing it stops or prevents every noob starting another useless topic or the same topic over and over again.
If you actually read you would see the exact same question asked over and over and over, I guess that fact that you dont understand is proof that you dont read or search.
This is how I see it and Im a noob!

Hi,
Why Davideuck or Miri? Maybe you should have check ROMs coocked by Onkolog or PhamQuand. They are very good too and have similar bugs, eg. alarm doesn't work if HD is locked and sleeps, etc.
You should have try out each and make decision. Everyone has personal preferences.

i tried both in davideuck no touch flo but in miri there is both i thing in my opnion miri is better until now

Not working alarm from locked/sleeping state can be fixed with this tweak by enabling wakeup to full power

Try both and see witch one you like best.

In Davideuck you can have tf3d it depends wich version you chose...
I have used Miri 7.1 and now I use Davideuck V-7 with Manila. Both are great rom and it is up to you who you prefer. I always liked Davideuck so I use his rom now but thats only my choise.
If you dont like one of them flash the other one

I see your point, but when I get a response to my first post to try both versions I think that is not what I asked.
I have tried a lot of roms and it takes a lot of time to test all out! It is not done in one day! to test it it takes at least 2 days.
A forum (like this) is to share knowlage and experinces between users. isnt it?

I tried davideuck but quite lag. now i will change back to miri one

I use Miri Rom 21500 7.2.
I think , if I can say somthing about the differences between the Roms I had to test both first. And If I test both I know or not what I am going to use.
So it is the wrong question !!
The Question is " WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ............ ROMs " ?
That´s what all the people whants to know without testing all ROM a cupple of Day´s without safty to register everything.

at least you can do it in the "general" forum not in the ROM Development forum.
you are transforming this forum in yr personal "give me an answer" forum. this is not a Q&A forum. with each answer you get you are pushing away from the first page really important stuff.
now after 13 posts what did u get? did u found somebody that used both ROMs and he can give a ready digested answer? did u really think that u can get a straight answer from such a (useless) thread? choosing a ROM is subjective. asking other's opinion instated of reading the relevant threads with user's opinion and user's reaction is pure laziness and total disregarding the forum rules.
all i (and many others) want is to be able to watch the ROM Development without being bothered by marathon chat threads that keep on growing without any benefit for the community.

we all have high expectations about other ppl.
welcome to the club of the disappointed ones!

I am on onkolog's 6.5 and its pretty AWESOME. I was using miri's 7.1 before I flashed to onkolog's. It is very smooth and I dont have the DayLightSavingTime bug in Manila (going back by an hour) in his ROM. The only complaint I have in onkolog's is the Calculator which SUX, but so does every other 6.5 ROM.
EDIT: I have not tried miri's 7.2 yet, so cannot comment on it.

My dilemma is...
...I am unfortunately a perfectionist.
And both roms, Miri's and davideuck's as well, aren't perfect.
So the following is what I like from Miri's rom:
the "sandclock" that appears when WM works looks much better
the menu icon of "file explorer" looks better (fits to the otehr HQ icons)
to be continued....
and here comes my positive thoughts about davideuck's rom:
RSS HUB onboard
HTC calendar starts the week with Moday
calculator is much better (rotation, you know..)
icon bar at the upper screen is awesome! and not buggy like Miri's
grey theme is great looking with black of Manila!
the used HTC dialer is my favorite (I loost track of all the names, versions and so maybe s.o can tell me which which is...)

A weekly view in HTC calendar
FULL German Translation (it ist a dream! not more and not less)
link feeds with RSS HUB when opening a newfeed via link in opera ;-)

Phone sends out double texts...any advice?

ok first of all i did try searching but very little came up and tried the few solutions that were posted but to avail. for quite a bit now ive been sending double texts messages here and there. it wont happen with every text, ill say about 20% of the texts that i send get sent twice. now im using [June 15][PDACorner] Ultimate-X.V8 -21068 rom with spl 3.34nonstuckingspl with radio 1.71.09.01. i switched spls from 3.56 and ive tried many radios. so if anyone has any kind of insight i would greatly appreaciate it..thanks!

Advice: Use the search as over the last week already been posted in ROM thread...

Well there's a couple of things i'd do change SPL like others posted. "I think you using the mentioned SPL"
Change ROM see if still persists.
If still an issue phone your carrier and ask if any problems with your account "without mentioning anythin bout cooked ROM"
I had it happen once when 7 messages where sent but just hard-reset and all was fine.

im going to try and revert back to another spl. so far ive tried 3.34 and 3.56. ive been using pdaultimate's roms only but other people don't have the same problem. thanks sytlez...ill report back to see if its fixed

I think that it is a mixture of carrier problem , connection problem and inherently the way SMS works. My phone does it , my wife's iPhone does it and my son's LG Vu does it. Not all the time but enough.
In any case it has nothing to do with development of new roms, there is a software forum and a general question forum. Just because you don't get an answer one place does not mean, post it in every section until you get the answer you want.
The rom development section has been getting very cluttered lately with questions about things that have nothing to do with developing custom roms, just because people want an answer and want it NOW !.

doesnt it get annoying at some point?
and i didnt post in EVERY section. ive only made this thread in this section and i asked in the pdaultimates rom thread. how would i know the double text problem isn't related to custom roms/radio/spls? thats why im trying to find out what is causing it and how to fix it.

Your gonna want to post in the thread that your using for the rom. IE if your using PDA Ultimate rom post this issue in his thread. Not open a new thread in the rom dev section.. That said i'll leave this thread open in hopes you get a answer but i moved it over to kaiser general to keep our dev area clean of questions as it's meant for rom develoupment.

oh i did post in the roms thread...but like the majority of the time small problems like this doesnt get much attentiion and gets blown off. so yeah...i flashed to pdaultimates's x2 rom and see if it fixes it

ill give it another shot...one of my friends double texts me whenever my phone double texts her...its rather annoying lol

The "best" ROM?!

I'm thinking of update my ROM on my TyTN II.
But I really don't know what ROM to use.
Should I go for WM6.1 or WM6.5? If I use WM6.5, would the Kaiser get slower than WM6.1?
And it would be great to have a ROM that is more "fingerfriendly" than the orignial ROM, so I don't need to use the stylus for everything. I know i don't have to use it, but if the icon's where larger and so on, it would be so much easier =)
It would be great if some of you guys that have a little bit of knowledge at this area, just replied what ROM you like best and a link where to DL it =) Screens would be great =)
I've searched the forum, but every damn ROM says: "This is the best ROM ever made" hehehe... Yeah right, that makes it so much easier for me, and the other noobs on the forum

I can't try each one, that's impossible. And I'm pretty new to PPC, so i don't know what to look at.

Look at the screenshots and the content list, pick one you like and flash. If after a wekk you don't like that one, flash the next one on the list.

Without me sounding like a a** best ROM discussions are against the forum rules.
I'm sure that stands here too, thats why you getting satiricle answers as there is no best ROM "so many variables on what people like & want" flash and you will find what you like which is what we all do.

I've managed to succesfully flash my ROM now
Now my Kaiser is running: [Aug 4th][PDACorner] Ultimate-X2.V9 -23017|M2D|CHome|Enhanced Version
And I'm very pleased with that ROM, after checking it out for a couple of hours now But I have a problem, and that is the norwegian letters on the hardware keyboard does'nt work =( What do i need to do to get them to work? Tried to search the forum, but can't find a solution =/

i just got my upgrade, to the att HTC tilt 2 (opened the box today). when i upgrade i always research, i read about software issues to stock units and a couple ppl spoke of mods. i don't know the language of mods, but i learn fast. i need to know a few basic terms, procedures and what i need to speed up and stop the error msgs i have gotten multipule times just today. which mods are the most user friendly and least glitchy. thank you to all in advance.

look around in the rom sections and use the "search" function without hesitation.
also search around before posting a question or request, to avoid reposts and nuisances.

Heya Hippie! And congrats on a great device. I've had my Tilt 2 for about 9 months now and just keep loving it more and more. What are you looking to do to the fone besides stop the error messages? Lemme know, I can give you any help you need. Or you can email me directly or leave me a message on here. I've learned what to look for and also to watch out for, but as anyone here will tell you, we all have differences of opinions, likes and dislikes. Also depending on your taste and how far you'd like to go with your device will vary how far we can go. To get rid of any error messages, which one I can guarantee says: need NETCF.Messages.EN.wm.cab (May not include the ".cab") That's one I ran into a lot before I got a ROM from the threads here. I promise you Hippie, anything you may need will most likely be here on XDA-Developers. This is a great site with many awesome people. As the previous post mentions, use the search at the top. It will help you a great deal!!

thanks, panther. I found on the HTC website that they recomend replacing touchflo 3d with sense, which i did and thought i'd give it a try. error messages are gone but it still has a few things i don't like about it. so i think i may try something new when i get the time to. i see your configurations and i think i'll start there, seeing how you are happy with it. then i'll go from there if i want to try something else
