Okay, so I have JF1.41 Multitoch RC33 rom, which i think was a mistake in downloading because after applying it, I dodn' like it very much. So instead I got a Carbon theme, and put it in my SD card. I waited for the phone to boot up and went straight to the Home+Back screen. I gave my phone a wipe. And I installed the Carbon theme. I pressed Home+Back and it took me back to the Tmobile G1 Logo screen, and I waited at least 5 minutes and it wouldn't even budge. I took out the battery, and kept trying. No good. So my question is, what's wrong with my device? How can I fix this? Thanks in advance.
and did you tried to use the SEARCH option in the forum?
All the themes copy the files to system and when you install RC33 the system partition only have 0K free (or near 0K) i dont know why but some files do a semibrick when that occurs.
Reinstall RC33 or delete some ringtones from system, 5-6, when you do it then reinstall the theme.

hey guys, this morning i got the OTA cupcake update, and my phones been running fine all day, however, i just restarted it and its stuck on the android logo screen, it shows the shine going through the logo like it is loading but after a few seconds it stops, then does it again, is my phone shot? please, any help will be greatly appreciated! thanks!
Really you need wipe your phone. It will fix the problem and then you can boot into tmobiles cupcake. You will need to reinstall your apps, but anything on your sdcard will be saved
i did the wipe and its still doing it :/
if you have a sdcard reader pull your memory card out of your phone and plug it and your card reader into your computer. follow these instructions. this will get you back to rc29 and get your phone working. it will also get you up to cupcake with some tweaks to make the phone better.
after that head to this thread
go here and ger the full version of 1.2b name it update.zip put it on your memeory card and boot into recovery. wipe the phone, update it and wipe it again then reboot it.
do not worry your phone can be fixed, just be patient, take your time, go slow and read everything very carefully. read all the steps first, gather all the files you need before you do anything.
remember, read and be patient. good luck. pm me if you have any problems, ill help you get it working again

first boot into bootloader(camera and home) and see if you have a white screen with 3 skating androids.
if you do then you have the hard spl.
sometimes when you flash a spl it will wipe your phone.
if you do have the hard spl just go ahead and flash whatever rom you want to use.
if you don't have a card reader go into the recovery console and type ums_enable to mount your sdcard and put the rom on your sdcard then type ums_disable to unmount the sdcard, then finally type reboot recovery and when it boots up flash your rom.
That did it David just uploaded CM 4.0.4 and its up and running. You have been alot of help tonight, kick you a little something for your help...
wait , you push alt-s, are you still using the orignal recovery, do yourself a favor and flash cm recovery 1.4, nandroid backup and restore, flash any zip.

I was having the same issue... ( I have the pimped recovery as well)
The first couple times I tried, I was getting no changes to the spl...
I tried one more time, wiped to be sure, proceeded to install spl
I then made it to same point, "formatting cache..."
I decided to start the reboot process and quickly pressed
"cam + power" when the screen went black and BAM,
got the 3 skateboarding androids
and it says "HSPL 10.95.3000"
I then reinstalled latest Cyan, and partitioned the sdcard with sdparted.txt
8gig Class 6 (100MB Swap, 1024MB ext4, 6893 Fat32)
Rebooted and
Thx!!
I am trying to unroot my friend's G1... I found a tutorial on XDA (link) and it worked fine without any problems on my phone, however when I go into recovery mode (CyanogenMod v1.4+JF) and I hit Alt+S, it starts to install the update.zip and it reboots and starts up in recovery and gets stuck on Formatting CACHE:... I've let it sit for quite a while and still nothing. I can reboot the phone, but it just starts back up in the rooted mod. When I start into the bootloader (camera+power), it's not the three android's on skateboard, it's the colored screen, and it doesn't give me the option to install DREAIMG.nbh file. I'm not quite sure what to do, especially since I had absolutely no problem testing this tutorial on my own phone.
EDIT: I figured out that the bootloader is downgraded and working. Now when I load the bootloader, it goes to the grey screen and says Loading... No image found! I have searched the forums and google for a solution to this program and so far nothing I've found is working. I've reformatted my SD card many times to FAT32, as well as redownloaded the DREAIMG.nbh file... Any help would be great!
EDIT 2: I'm not sure what the problem was or what I did to get it to work, but after formatting over and over and downloading and redownloading, and trying different SD cards, it finally started to work.
Ok. I have done everything that was suggested up above. I also get the 3 android skateboarders and I have tried to install the new
[ROM] CyanogenMod - Keeping You Legal For Less (STABLE) [UPDATED 10/31 - v4.2.3.1]
Which installs just fine. But then I reboot the device and it continues to be stuck on the G1 Splash Screen.
I can verify that I updated the Radio first and confrimed it was updated then updated the SPL and got formatting cache and waited like 15 mins and then now I am stuck.
So I what david1171 suggested and still nothing.
Any suggestions would be nice.
Thanks
I apparently am retarded. let me first off say that. Second, you are all Gods to begin with, however immortal Gods can you give me the knowledge to fix my issue.
I am running CM +JF 1.4 on my T-Mobile G1. Everything went pretty smooth, no large issues.
Used the CM Updater found on the market to find a couple of themes. Tried the Alien theme, no problems, checked out Enoch's theme, pretty nice, then tried "Marks Theme" and when I rebooted, the phone froze on the splash screen that says "Tmobile G1" I booted into recovery mode and wiped the data, and tried to reapply a different theme, with no success. It still just stays frozen on the splash screen. Any help would be SOOOOOOo appreciated. I would be fine with even a full wipe as long as I can get back up and running.
Mike
Just do a full wipe and reflash your rom.
..awww I miss JF.
Also, I cannot get the phone or the computer now to recognize my 8GB card. My 1GB card recognizes fine though.

I had a friend who helped me mod it, and I am unsure of the exact steps. when you say a FULL WIPE, is that the wipe you are referring to through the recovery console?
It might be corrupted, you can probably still reformat it from console via parted.
I downloaded the current stable version from
wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Latest_version
to my SD card, renamed it to update.zip, then inserted it into the phone. I booted into recovery mode. I clicked wipe data, I then clicked apply update.zip, it said it verified the image, then installed the image. It still hangs at the splash screen.

Do you have a nandroid back up in recovery that you can go to? If so that would be the best route. If not then I suggest doing a full data/dalvik/ext wipe and reinstall your rom.
I am a moron....Please delete....
I was trying to use too new of a rom with older files.....i was using a version 5 because i was too retarded apparently to read that it wasn't compatible the way I was trying to do it. I am back up and running again. Sorry for the waste of time and space
thanks,
mike
We all have our moments. And it's not a waste of time =D
I'm helping a friend with a hand-me-down G1 upgrade from 1.6 to CyanogenMod 6.1 using the wiki cyanogen links, which basically told me to downgrade to RC29 / RC7 DREAIMG.nbh file after reformatting the sdcard, then root the phone using telnet, flash Amon_Ra's Recovery using telnet, flash 2.22.23.02 radio using recovery, then install dangerspl, cyanogenmod 6.1 and tiny google apps.
As far as I know, I followed every step. I did get stuck a couple of times while installing DangerSPL. I'd fastboot and hit call+menu+end and instead of rebooting, it would install dreaimg.nbh again (since I used fastboot to flash dreaimg.nbh earlier and still had it on the root of the sdcard) and I would have to start over again and re-root, re-flash Amon_Ra's Recovery and the 2.22.23.02 radio. That happened twice before I decided to take dreaimg.nbh off of the sdcard, since I realized that it had already been flashed onto the phone and would probably work. Once I did that, the call+menu+end during fastboot worked and it restarted, which is what it was supposed to do. Kept trying and trying to hit the home button as quickly as possible to get to recovery, like the instructions said, but it wouldn't work. So I took a chance and booted into recovery using home+power and flashed Danger SPL, which seemed to install well, and Cyanogenmod 6.1 and tiny google apps. All seemed to be going well until rebooting the system. The cyanogenmod splash screen popped up after the g1 screen and just sits there, stuck in a boot loop. I waited a good 10 minutes before I pulled the battery and tried again...same thing. Also wiped the dalvik cache and cache, which i saw on the first page of this thread, to no avail. Can anyone tell me where I went wrong and what I can do to pull out of it and successfully install this rom? Really want to get this back to my friend. Also hoping his contacts are still on his sim card after all this... I flashed dreaimg.nbh, per the first step, and noticed that the contacts didn't come up after this. The data on the phone works and the phone number shows up under about phone but since I haven't gotten any further than that OS I can't tell. No where have I seen in the instructions that I had to pull my sim card before flashing... hope it's all good. Any help with any of this would be greatly appreciated.
As you can tell, I'm new to all this. I own a Samsung Moment and flash ROM's on it all the time but that process is much simpler than this one. Have never dealt with a boot loop so I'm a little unsure of what to do.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=566669 also I just got off that build it's really really slow, try yoshi's gingerbread build.
I am using a Motorola Droid on Verizon. Up until yesterday, it was bone stock. I rooted it, installed ROM Manager from the market, and followed the instructions to do a Nandroid backup.
I then I researched on the installation of a new ROM. I picked CM7, followed the instructions (or so I thought.) Using ROM manager, I installed it from the SD card. The file itself was in the download folder, not all the way at root. Also, it did not say anything in the program about formatting the SD card. I did, however, format the cache and dalvik cache.
Upon starting, it looped the boot screen for about 15 minutes. I tried again, same thing. I was getting frustrated, and unplugged and kept trying it. Eventually I tried to go back to my Nandroid backup, and at least have a working phone. My phone now said it couldn't find my SD card. I pressed factory reset, and when I rebooted, CM7 started, but didn't work correctly.
I am now stuck here: The Verizon part of my phone works. It makes and takes calls and texts. But I never got an 'enter your gmail address' screen. I also have no apps, other than the stock CM7 ones. No market access, nothing.
Can anyone help me?
CM7 doesn't come with Google apps. After installing cm7, use rom manager to install gapps pack. You will get your market, gmail and all others you want.
Gapps is also available as a seperate flashable update from the link below.

I'm getting two different scenarios while trying to install the Apps zip file, neither of which work.
If I 'install from the SD card' through ROM manager, it reboots, I get the Moto M, and then the phone goes to a new screen, where looks like it can't find the SD card, and then gives up after about 7 or 8 tries.
I do it manually, ClockWorkMod only will stay open for about 10 seconds, and then the phone reboots again. I don't even have time to get to the file. And even if I did, I don't think it'd take if I clicked it fast enough.
I feel like I'm so close to having my phone work, but I can't quite get it.

Did you try a fresh install? I meant wiping data.
I cleared all the data and it works. It works PERFECTLY. Thank you so much for your help. Seeing as though this is my only phone, and only phone I'm going to have for a long time, you have no idea how much hassle you saved me. Again, thank you!
No problem. Enjoy CM7.
