Logging program for beer ??? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

I am a beer lover, and like to sample lots of different beers. I am looking for a program that will allow me to log the beers i have had, and take a few notes. Preferable id like the log to be able to list the beers.
Any ideas?

Sounds like the task for a spreadsheet so you could just use Excel Mobile

I'm not sure about a program, but you should definitely check out http://ratebeer.com/. If you sign up for a free account you can rate and review all of your beers, and it keeps all of your records and you can sort by rating or style. It's a great resource to find good beers and keep track of the one's you like or dislike. I actually haven't tried it from my mobile, but I'm sure the site would come up fine in Skyfire or Opera.
......and if you haven't tried Stone's Arrogant Bastard Ale or Ommegang's Ommegang Abbey Ale.....you owe yourself a taste.

I do a similar thing, makng a note of all of the books I read.
I use Phatnotes, which is a 3rd party alternative to the built-in Notes app and vastly superior

How about setting up a blogspot blog and hitting it when you try a new brew? I blog using ping.fm sms service. Works great!
You should try Shiner Beer's new 100 years of Beer Commemorater. Just had my first taste of it last night. Will have to try a few more tonight.......

Now this is my kinda thread.

Handy shopper is good for making lists of stuff.
look that up

RSS / Podcast Fever!

Hi guys. I'm kind of newish around here compared to some/most of you... I just realized how cool and useful and stuff it can be to use my 8125 to read RSS feeds/podcasts. I was hoping some of you guys who subscribe to RSS stuff (not just with your phones, but PC too) wouldn't mind sharing some of your feeds with me. Blogs, news, comics, miscellaneous stuff... I don't care, I'll be the judge of if I want to see it or not.
I see with some readers, they are able to import/export lists in OPML format.. so I figured that would be a good standard to go by, unless you just feel like typing everything out, that works too.
This isn't just for me, it's for every inquiring mind who wants a new feed to look at in their daily routines.
I'm still deciding on what RSS reader to use... I'm testing out egress and newsbreak. Hubdog takes up a lot of memory but at least it's free (and it was pretty good except for the memory stuff). pRSSreader is free but it was also pretty good. I know there are a LOT of threads on RSS readers for these mobile phones, but if anyone wants to throw in input, maybe hand me a reader I haven't thought of/heard of before, I would appreciate it.
Thanks guys, I'm looking forward to what everyone likes/thinks is worth their time.
I use SPB Insight not free but very good, has a feed guide built in with the top threads. Might be worth thinking about.
I personnaly use pRSSreader, a great freebee...
See more here : http://pda.jasnapaka.com/prssr/
What i like best ?
The ability to cache some webpages on a SD (let's say) to have an off-line reading...
thanks guys, I was really looking for what feeds you subscribe to and stuff
I like pRSSreader too. i haven't tried SPB Insight, hope they have a free trial!
Anyone else?
Make it free

thanks my friend but it didn't work!
Not sure if I like SPB Insight anyway.. I only do a couple feeds that contain podcasts, but it doesn't look like insight supports podcasting at all. I don't want to be hindered later...!
Anyone else have any RSS lists they don't want to submit?
the two forums that i probably check the most often are the xda wizard ones...and fatwallet.
hot deals at fatwallet

free stuff at fatwallet

finance at fatwallet

for reader, i usually futz around with pRSSreader...only because it's free and functional.
I found a great site for OPML sharing, it is located at http://share.opml.org
Thanks to all zero of you were nice enough to suggest an RSS reader (i asked you not to do this) and to share your RSS feeds lists (only one person got close). You really made this thread worthwhile. I hope the extra ~60 seconds it would have taken you to export your feeds to an OPML file and upload it here were spent wisely.
Nice find jonflow, that site has helped me fill up my list of feeds quite nicely. I've avoided the RSS reader thing altogether and just sync accross my RSS feeds using Outlook 2007. They appear in an RSS feeds folder in Messaging, and they even get pushed out right away with OTA sync, it's an intergrated lazy man's match made in heaven.
Try looking at NewsBreak2.0 I tried it out with some video podcasts too, but for some reason they would always lag, otherwise I really like it.
Eh, I don't subscribe to any podcasts, vidcasts, etc... I don't really get anything through RSS that's easier for me to get through email, so I've never seen the need for another app in RAM that'll check info thats a pain to read on the small screen. I've also been testing rssfwd.com, and I'm really liking that since it makes it much nicer to get a daily digest like with Slashdot.
Code for SPB Insight 1.5.1 newest version (trial can be downloaded from spbwarehouse.com)
Admin edit: code removed.
Code is my personal unlimited license (can be distributed as much as I want " my reward for beta testing")

What website would you like to see exist?

I am looking for a web development project to refine my skills. I'm short on ideas after completing the surprisingly unpopular yet unbelievably useful Trly.gd.
I will work only on anything useful to many people that can at the very least earn 15$ a year for the domain name. No need to monetize it, as long as it doesn't cost me (because I already pay ~200$/year for servers and domains).
Tell me, XDA-Developers, what would you like to see on the web? Let your imagination go wild!
All New Rom with Change log and screenshots..
All working application and games with sceenshot
I like http://trly.gd its just im in the habbit of typing in www.google.com. Marketing is the problem your having, people can be very lazy and sometimes need to be forced or otherwise motivated into using somthing until it becomes a habit.
Maybe you can make a win mo and/or android app for it, and continue to market it as an advanced search device. Let it be skinable, and invite people to upload their skins to share.
then you could even cook it into a rom.
Help people asking for stuff by directing them to trly.gd and the search results it produces. Remember Rome wasnt built in a day, and before Google was king there were yahoo and altavista who were usurped.
If you like i can also advertise it in my sig, prob wont help that much but at least its something.
anyway sorry if this sounds patronising but I do wish you the best of luck
regards
Chris

I know, marketing just isn't there, and I have a lot of stuff to do. It's still a fun project to learn web development.
I'm not in the WinMo scene anymore and I'm about to drop Android too (hardware sucks ATM), but I could make a lil' something for Windows Mobile users around. You know, Trly.gd has a mobile format

Local bible app?

Hey guys -
I was wondering is there a bible app that does not use the internet. It is a WIFI only Xoom and my church does not have an open WIFI.
All the ones I have tried from the market are not formatted for the tablet, and also use an internet connection.
Thanks.
I use Bible by Youversion.
While you're on WiFi, just download the version you use to your XOOM so you can use it anywhere.
You could also use www.acrobible.com
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
I use the NIV Bible from Tecarta. It works well on the tablet and has good navigation, but it crashes occasionally. The Bible from YouVersion is also good, as mentioned above, but the navigation is not as user friendly.
I use tecarta nasb. Works perfectly for me but it does cost money

Thanks guys..
I have NewVersion I just need to download it directly for offline access. I never knew that.
I cannot log in though, for some reason it does not allow me to input any information for log in. It's just blank. Can some one confirm they are able to log into the software?
Olivetree has a program called Biblereader that is the Cadillac of Bible programs on mobile platforms. The program itself is free, but the various versions cost money. The versions are portable to other mobile platforms, and there are tons of additional resources that are supported in program. The current android version is one major revision behind iOS, but they are working on releasing a new one soon.
All in all, it is one of the best study tools out there on any platform. Check it out.

Will do, I am running into issues with YouVersion.
I use the Barnes & Noble Nook app, and you can get any version of the bible, (N.I.V., King James. Etc...) for about a buck. Has chapters, works off-line, can highlight, annotate, bookmark, lookup words) even does the little page flip like on the iPad, love it.

A little off topic
I've been trying to get the people at globible.com to add the android tablet platform. Very cool Bible app and the more people requesting it the more likely they will push development.
I am not a huge Olive Tree fan but it if probably the best offline Bible. I read that they recently updated the reader so I should give it another try. I have in my Kindle app, too, but find the YouVersion app has the best search feature.
I love youVersions bible. Tons of translations. I bounce around KJV and NIV during study, sometimes KJV is a little over my head.
If you go into the list of translations there is a green button on the right to download to the device locally.
I attend a pretty old fashioned baptist church, and get some pretty interesting looks from the older folks when I break out the tab
Glad to see so many other Christians on here as well, it's exciting.
Edit:
I got a little excited and didn't read the whole thread. But I saw one or two people say something about youVersion and logging in.
Even though it doesn't show your email or passwords in the field, they are in fact being input. Just be careful and you should be able to login without issue. It took me 2 or 3 tries to get the UN and PW right.

Yeah after playing around I finally got un and pw to work correctly.. :-D
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I'm working on a Honeycomb optimized bible and note taking app and I could use testers and people to bounce ideas off of.
I love youversion on my phone, but I can't stand it on my tablet. So I figured this would be a cool way to learn a bit about Fragments and just expand my knowledge in general.
Thread is here. I'd love any feedback.
I checked it out!
Thanks!
"ESV Bible" (free) and "LiveBible" (also free) support offline viewing. While offline is the default for ESV, you will need to download the texts for LiveBible first.

[App] Job Discovery

Job Discovery allows you to find Jobs of any simple to extensive search term in an extremely "dumbed" type interface. With GPS location enabled, it can easily detect the area you're in and search OR simply type a Zipcode of where you might wish to find jobs (maybe where you want to move).
Like the job, company and city/state the job is in? Click the job for instant Step-By-Step Voice (If enabled) and Text GPS Directions w/LIVE Traffic & Construction updates from your current location to the job of your choice. This allows you to easily Job Hunt for jobs in the area you may have just had an interview or plan your day and track the Job's on the Map and "Pin" them for easy 1-Click access.
With the extremely easy UI, anyone can find a job and with results displaying as fast as 2 seconds (May vary depending on Data Plan, Location, etc...), it takes the hours of research out of the way and the calling of each location (or printing a map) a thing of the past. A more graphical and more feature/customizable edition called Job Discovery II (Free too) will be released shortly for those who need even more specifics for results.
You can now Download JD at: http://windowsphone.com/s?appid=d635d0cd-aee2-4f6a-89a1-495b94bbd64e.
thanks man!!
I hope you like it, if you have any suggestions please make them .
God knows, I need a job. I hope this helps.
If you have any suggestions or features you'd like, please let me know...
Originally designed to let you find other jobs by your current/job interview/possible locations you may live and show you the Store, Job Title and the location.

Along with the search field, how about a drop menu with common job fields?
You got it! I will start archiving different job types from Job/Career Sites and have an auto-complete so as you type it will also guess what you wanted?

That'd be perfect. Especially for someone who's looking for anything as opposed to something specific. Some of us are desperate for any field we can find a job in.
I appreciate your input, very helpful and will try and roll this update out ASAP as it may take a little time for the update to get accepted and don't want you to be out of a job too long .
Remember if you have anything else you'd like to see, I hope you'd let me know as this App had one purpose, to find jobs and currently searches quite a bit of job sites but tries to narrow down and "rates" them, which you may sometimes see numbers before a job title/company as it thinks they are the best suited/available at the time.
Thanks,
Lance

I love the idea of this app. I'm curious; what database does it use for the job listings? Is it Monster or something like that?
Good job Men
It actually uses a "stream" of job sites, not just one in specific and which is why it kind of does it's own guessing of what's the best jobs to show. A total of now 38 sites when originally it was more than 50 exist now but a lot of sites have blocked the App/Cloud Server but that's ok.
When you search, you're actually sending an anonymous string to our cloud server which hosts a cURL/PHP file that does the actual work (sending the requests to the job sites as some job sites offer an API and will use it) and immediately parses it as it requests only specific parts (some are actually designed separately, especially if they are an API search provider and makes it easier to generate the content) and sends back to the App the converted Lat/Lon of the job location and takes either your exact GPS Lat/Lon or Zipcode and goes, well this and this are closer but they are possibly less relevant and that can be based off of the job title, job content, and also published date/time to determine what may really be the best in the end for you.
I hope that sort of answers your question? As for Monster, we do search them as well but EXTREMELY hard and we only do a max of 35-requests to them so that we don't get banned but all monster results are stored for 72 hours in a MySQL Database.
Thanks,
Lance

That is very nice of you to say, I appreciate it and glad JD was able to show you a job you didn't know existed.
Good news is another view of jobs has been in the works where you can swipe from Map View and List View which will have the job link to the actual company or job site that has the job but has been a little difficult as the sources vary but would this even be of any use to you?
Tried it, but have to use it landscape? Also the GPS did not work for me, since I'm in Canada. Also, the popup advertisements are annoying. Anyway to get them just to stay at the bottom? Otherwise I can't say how good it is without seeing any jobs.

Absolutely, it would. It would cut out the step of having to google the company and then find their employment link, which isn't always easy to find as I just found out with Winn Dixie. BTW, I dropped 3 applications so far. Let's see what happens.

At this specific time it accepts only US Postal Codes as it is digit-based and outside US, like Canada, can have alphanumerical (alphameric) and in Canada specific from what I was studying basically has 2 main parts... First part being "Forward Station Area" and second being the "Local Delivery Unit" and could be listed as H1G, 49,657 or H1G49657, which for the input I would need to scan for both possible formats but since the InputScope lastly was updated to strictly "Digits", making the letters impossible to input.
So we actually in our "prototype", I was speaking about with 2 views has an option in the very beginning, if you're non-US, you select that as it will allow all forms of input where the US is specific and allows only 5-Digits. Also some of the sources we use are strictly US job sites but once we saw some of them actual have multi-country job posting/listing we thought it was a good idea to help the other part of the world.
As for the Ad, it should randomly Popup and the reason for it's current placement is actually because people complained it was at the bottom right or bottom left and for some odd reason the top left seemed less intrusive to the 9 people who beta tested it. Also I have it randomly Popup only because I didn't want to make the map smaller to fit a stupid Ad and make it static which some Ad's can be nutty and be flashy and super annoying. This is why when you search for jobs it automatically centers and zoom-in on the location with the most jobs/in the area, but you probably can't see that if you can't see any jobs... Try typing in "89117" and see if it's still an issue to you and if so, let me know and we'll come up with something else.
Also the landscape-only is because the map is larger this way and easier to view as Portrait mode is and I can assure you much smaller and quite disappointing. When you have 20-30 job's Popup, a square box with tons of little "Markers" and text gets almost blurred and when you click an actual marker it launches the GPS feature, which is why in the Portrait mode people kept clicking the wrong one and we figured let's just have them hate us for this mode and not hate us cause they keep clicking the wrong job.
I will stop going on about the future updates but we haven't forgotten the other part of North America and our countries friends, which you will see soon, I promise .

First, I am glad you find that would be something useful to you and apologize for you currently having to do manual labor as that wasn't really the goal of the App, to make you do anything really.
We didn't think ahead that people might not be driving around with a stack of Resumes and go to each store to drop them off. Later on and good feedback like yours, it shows people want to see even more about the Job/Pay/Hours/Misc. Items and maybe even not leave home and just Apply online as another way to Apply to Jobs, which is why we were just discussing maybe adding a "Send to..." option and can send it to Twitter or Email but figured Email might be better or to txt to a friend as it may be a bit overkill adding social media in the picture.
As far as your job applications, are these job applications due to this program itself? Like how you discovered the jobs? Either way, I hope you get one of the jobs!

Absolutely do but unfortunately Artists don't do free work. They don't realize if we don't get paid, hard for us to pay upfront for something a profit will never be rendered or even on soon to be paid apps, can't always pay upfront, which is why my kickstarter has a few big apps but need funding to hire artists/org for characters for games.
So, Photoshop tutorials and not following them and mixing is unfortunately how a lot of my Gfx are made. We have gfx artists that do our clients websites but to have side work, gets pricy. ;/
I'm probably going to look into doing something during the holidays break, I've never had Photoshop lessons but I can do basic graphics. If I get the motivation, I probably wouldn't mind thinking up a redesign for this app.

Anything you can come up with, would be greatly appreciated. Always nice to see what others would like things to be . You will of course be credited on anything provided and happy to share AD commission which is like pennies but they supposedly eventually add up, which I have yet to see but happy to share .
