is there a plugin to display missed calls on the today screen w/ photos? I tried the PhotoDialer plugin, but some things about it bother me, and those are speeddial numbers not missed calls.
Try DKToday. It shows missed calls, and when you click on the missed calls line it dials the number. It also counts your used minutes and your SMS. Very usefull app! search the forum for DKToday, it is in the thread "Is there a call minute available for..." or something like that.
I decided to post this in a new thread. Sorry if it was the wrong thing to do.
I installed some of the cabs found here, specifically the HTC plugins
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326655
After performing the mods, the call history is not logging any calls to/from people that are in my fave 5 anymore. So I thought maybe the actual My Fav 5 program is logging the calls now, but no, it's not.
Anyone else experiencing this? The today screen plugin for missed calls does not increment by one when i have a missed call from someone in my fave 5, the call history does not log any of my fave 5 calls, and the My Faves program does not log them anymore either.
Any have any suggestions? What could have caused this problem? One of the HTC cabs I installed maybe?
Thank you in advance!

I'm really stumped here. This is my last try to bump the thread up in hopes that someone has answer.

hmm? My MyFaves is setup correctly. The problem is that my phone doesn't report/log any calls that are to or from people in my My Faves list. It reports/logs all other calls though.
I guess since all calls to myfaves people are free ... the phone doesn't register the calls or minutes used to those people so they aren't accounted for in any type of logs.
if you're running a custom rom, they wont be accounted for through any type on log on your phone
only way to track is through my-tmobile.com
I'm not running a custom ROM, just the HTC cabs and the pagepool hack.
It's disappointing because I don't know when someone from my My Fave 5 called me. It doesn't report it as a missed call! I'm not really trying to track the calls, I just want to be notified when I have a missed call.

I have the exact same problem. I have installed the same things. NOTHING in the call history involving anyone on fave 5. A fix for this would be huge for me. If anyone in my fav 5 calls and doesn't leave a message, it never tells me I have a missed call, and it never shows in the history. VERY frustrating.

Yeah that's the problem! I can't even find the calls from within the actual My Fav Program. The only thing listed in the log section are the text messages.
Something happened and we could really use a fix!
I got somewhere... someone sent me a private message and explained that they removed the "+" sign from the contacts.
Well I've tried to remove the country code, the plus sign, and tried formatting the number is different ways. So far I have gotten the outgoing calls to be logged, but if you call the person using the htc favorite people plugin or the contact manager. Outgoing calls are still not logged when calling via the myfave program.
I keep trying different things. Would someone mind sharing the format of the numbers in their contact manager and then also the format of the numbers in the myfave program? Thanks
I just edited the my favs contact number directly from the contact program (not the my favs program) with ####### no spaces, it automatically reformatted it to (xxx)xxx-xxxx, and it logs both incoming and outgoing calls fine from the 5 tab favorite contact screen. I don't have touch flo installed just have the regular interface skinned with the 5 tab, Pocket CM contact list, the htc dialpad, and the htc new default theme. It took me a few mins just messing with the contact number to get it working, but once it works, it works.

Ok..it seems to log outgoing calls that way....but no luck on incoming, what about missed calls? I seem to only have luck on it working when I dial them.
Also, when they call, their number shows up with their name and the "1(xxx)...." before it, even though the "1" isn't in the number in contacts. That probably has something to do with it...but I can't seem to fix that.
After editing them from my contacts, I still see they have the +1 in myfaves, which also seems to be having an effect.
For anyone that might know...
Is there a way I could just remove the myfaves application, which is probably a main cause of it not working right? I can just call them from my contacts or the home page contacts, which works for me if it means missed calls will show. So is it possible to just remove the application altogether? I assume it would still work because I could still access the numbers (and change them if necessary) online.
Welllllllllllllll.......
I went back, hard reset my wing, installed the stock t-mobile RUU. I then added things back one by one figuring I'd figure out which thing was causing my problem. It seems the pagepool is causing SOME problem (it doesn't NOTIFY me when I miss a call), but now even with everything I previously had installed, all calls show up in call history. I don't mind that it's not notifying me, as long as I can do a quick click into call history and see if I missed anything, so all is well now, I guess. I added my home phone # into my fav 5 (since I had an empty spot open anyway) and tested with that, calling back and forth over and over...it all seems to work fine. I'll be 100% sure when my gf or one of my friends calls me tomorrow, but it looks like I fixed it for now.
Start > Programs > myFaves > Menu > myFaves Settings > Refresh myFaves
If that doesn't solve your problems, log in to your My T-mobile account on the web and at least make sure you aren't getting charged regular minutes for your faves.
Oh, now I understand. Check out this:

I am VERY sorry if this has already been asked/answered. I did a search here, on Google and several other places and seem to keep getting similar topics but not the exact topic I need.
How do I set my tilt to play a different ringtone that the CALLER HEARS, not me.
For example, if John calls me, HE HEARS Ringtone A and if Mary calls me, SHE HEARS Ringtone B.
So, if I have someone from my business call me, they hear a conservative professional type ringing but if a friend of mine calls me, they hear something more progressive.
It doesn't matter to me what I HEAR... This is what I keep getting responses to in my searches.
Thanks,
M!

Ok.. you have to call your provider and ask for Caller Tones. You have to pay for that through your provider. I think it's pointless. Whenever I call someone and hear that I just hang up because I don't know whether it's a caller tone or some idiot who recorded his voicemail to a 2 minute Usher track. Traditional Ring is better I'd say.
I have an annoying collection agency calling me for something that is not mine and no matter how many times I tell them, they keep calling with an automated caller. I wanted to set the incoming call to play the "Disconnected phone #" tones that will make their system automatically remove me (kind of like a Tele-Zapper).
My provider is ATT...
Thanks!

But that's an awesome idea, actually. However, I'd find some trashy movie where someone swears like there's no tommorow and play that to them. haha.

I have no insight into the internals of PSTN networks and automated callers (thank god we don't have this nuisance in Europe), but isn't this kind information transfered "out of band" (i.e. outside the sound)? I don't think that machines do a sound frequency recoginition in order to detect the call state - hell, we're in the digital age!

you press some number to remove you on their list when they prompt you
diskwzrd, if you have t-mobile they have a service for this.
You could set your voicemail to a service like youmail.com. They allow you to set your greeting per caller or group of callers including unknown/blocked numbers.

The SS7 network does pass certain calling information out-of-band however it triggers the calling switch to play the proper intercept message. In some instances where the calling & dialed switches cannot establish an SS7 connection then the intercept message is played by the dialed switch, etc, etc. So the actual message is played in-band... the caller does need to hear the message after all. And some auto-dialers do implement some sort of removal procedure if a dialed number results in an intercept message. So it would work in theory, similar to the Telezapper devices... however it would not be 100% effective because not every business cares enough to follow thru on issues such as that.
Answer tones
I tried the answer tones on mine. Verfied I could and after playing all day I looked up on answer tones and the 8525 is supported and not the 8925. So I lost out of my answer tones.
I use Youmail. Like it much better.
I highly recommend using www.youmail.com
I can import my contact list to the website. I can personalize responses to each person in my contact list. I can use the existing service that says, " Hello, (caller name). ______ (my name) is not available right now, please leave a message."
I can select pre recorded messages ( or purchase them). My son gets a theme song to Indiana Jones. They also have holiday specific messages.
Plus I can read or listen to my voicemail via the computer via a web application.
Great service!

Does anyone know of an application for the diamond that will say the callers name during the ringtone like what is available on the Nokia N-Series?
Thanks

bump bump !!!
I think MS Voice command does it....
I'm not using it... but do a search and you will find more info about it...
That would be a cool app to have, my mates have N95 and they think they are so great... I would love that app to piss them off to show them my jewel is much better (which is is anyway)
Yeh .. Its really useful app I've been using it for a while on my Nokia and I really miss it. Imagine when you mobile rings while you are asleep... you dont need to move nor open your eyes to know the caller
Yes I agreeeee.
And making a recording for every single contact is a hasssllleeee.
from MS Voice Commander's features...
Spoken caller ID. Windows Mobile smartphone users can take full advantage of incoming caller ID without ever looking down at the screen. Incoming call information is announced as calls are received. Users who think they may have missed a call can simply ask, "What calls did I miss?" and Voice Command will recite the time and phone number of missed calls.

Thanks for the finds HollerID seems to be floored as it only supports downloaded soundfiles for a first name i.e. Paul. from their subcribed service. so managing would become a pain [IMHO].
Voice Commander sounds like it could be the answer but I can see this using alot of memory for what is quite a small task.
MS Voice Command does it....and I am trying to turn it off!
It is annoying when the woman calls out the name when on call waiting. Her voice is so damned loud that it drowns out the conversation I am having. i simply CANNOT continue the conversation if I have a call waiting....also, I like my privacy at times and may not want the people around me to know who is calling. MS Voice command has zero options to configure any of this.
Having said that, it works VERY well for voice commands with zero teaching/learning. If you want someone to tell you who is calling, this will do it too.... if you know how to shut her up and just LISTEN for my commands, please PM me! I would love to know how! Some things should only speak when spoken to.....

I am also annoyed by the incoming call announcement DURING a call also. Have you found out a way to shut it off DURING a call?
I notice since Froyo, the Call log now records even SMS received and send. This makes for a long and messy log if you do a lot of texting.
I only want the Call Log to show calls but the "View as" menu only have separate options for calls received, made and miss. There is no way to view all calls.
Is there a hack or settings somewhere I missed out? Or alternatively, can we disable the logging of sms totally?
same question as above..
the reason i registered to this forum is only this, its very annoying,
there must be a fix or android must fix this, sometimes i miss my iphone call list, where there is not an endless list with both recieved, called and sms, worst is that its not imbedded within each contact.
if that was possible then i can manage to have the sms log in there to.
and why not have the option of having both recieved, called and missed in the same settings.. doesnt make sense at all..
im sorry for this to be first post, i a total noob when it comes to coding for android, which i intend to learn..
thank you for a great forum btw..
i hope there will be a fix to this
/valle
I would like to have a fix for this too. The call log gets extremely long.
since froyo upgrade i am having the same issue. whts the use of logging text msgs anyways.. it gets recorded on its own thread. Me and my gf text a lotttt. now if i want to call someone from my history logs.. i cant simply find them cuz i have to scroll down 500 msgs to find that number.. there shud be fix for this thing..
Still no fix eh?
I tried selecting one of the options, such as "dialed calls" and it works... until you close the log and then try to make another call, and it all comes back to the same story... wtf android?
