I keep reading about radios and some people have better luck with different versions. is this to do with which country / network your connected to. If so could we make a list of radios that work best for you e.g.
My setup
UK/ t-mobile = L26 7.5/ 1.10.25.25 radio
feels like im losing battery quickier then the original radio
Thank you
I would also be interested in the results of this.
Was using 1.09.25.35 on 02 uk. Since going to dutty's 1.8 ROM, moved to 1.10.25.25 which seems to be better with this ROM (initial impressions).

Same for me on 3 in the UK - which drops back to orange in 2g areas. Still not as good receiption as my trinity though.
1.10 boosts my signal with some towers, at home i got an better signal with an increase of 3 bars, but at work it has dropped 2 bars compared to 1.09.

Same for me with Orange UK.
1.09.25.14 seems to work best for me here in Beijing, China.
Good battery life, good reception.
my opinion: nobody knows what is changed, so nobody knows what is best for you! i tend to believe that incrementing numbers take incremental benefits - and if i notice something which I dislike i go back one step!
in this moment, i am testing 1.12 with the same philosophy, one week of trial - and then let's make the point!

It's a work in progress that I and Faria are kicking around. Still has some bugs but it's the best 3.2 I've run so far. It's not available for public comsumption just yet. I WILL tell you that it's fully loaded and fast. My complaints with it are the same as with all the 3.2's that I've used, being that MS Voice won't run and most important, the phone sometimes just won't respond to the keys, like when I wanna hang up
Maybe it's just me but I've put 3.2 on three different 8125's and have had the phone not responding issueon all three, though I've only had this particular ROM on my current device.
I believe that if anyone can get it right it's Faria! And if he CAN deliver it, it'll knock the other ROM's outa tha water.
Sh1t!... maybe I said too much... my wife always indicates such!!!
Hmm. I smell a clue.
BTW, I'm now running a clean AKU3.2 of my own cooking based on ktamas distro with other stuff I've gleaned from here and elsewhere baked in for extra goodness Some of the tasty morsels include the ETEN dialer withOUT smartdialing support -- no smartdialing at all actually since it annoys me, AND this secret ingrediant that I'm trying out: the 2.47.11 GSM code available as RUU_Prodigy_024711_QTEK_WWE_RADIO.exe. So far I've got all bars w/ Cingular 8125 and no wierdness even with ActiveSync 4.5b passthru, EDGE concurrency, overclocked to 240, etc. but that's all in downtown Minneapolis. I'll be taking a trip this weekend to checkout it's low signal capabilities...
Hhmmm I am interested in the 2.47 Radio Rom, please keep me posted on how it works (and if it's better then the 2.25 Cingular (that sucks here in Amsterdam - Holland) or the 2.25 T-Mobile Radio Rom (that works a lot better then the Cingular 2.25 here in Amsterdam - Holland)).

hmm and where does one find this RUU_Prodigy_024711_QTEK_WWE_RADIO.exe do u believe its better then the 2.25 radio? cuz i only pull 1 bar in my house and sometimes it even cuts out and searches!

You can find it on the XDA FTP in the Wizard section (or it was the Wizard upload section).
I am using it right now, but don't notice any difference....yet!

Seemed to work better during my trip to the country this weekend. No more bars but I think I got clearer reception with less drift than last time I was down there.

Are you intend to build it with 30 MB of free memory?
At my work I looked at my Wizard and had only 1 BAR...but a few moments later it was 4 bars at exact the same spot, so maybe it was a sort of stand-by mode to save battery life. But yes indeed, it looks likes I also got a clearer reception with this Radio Rom.

Molski
Wow. The 2.47 radio -- even though I've just flashed it -- looks awesome so far. I have 2-3, even 4 bars sometimes in my room and that's close to a miracle, as I hardly get any reception here, and if I do, it's only 2 bars max.
And it seems more directional. In marginal signal locations I find that simply turning the phone by 90 degreees seems to make a huge difference.
The 2.47 radio rom looks good so far. Nice stuff - can't wait for the new AKU3.2 rom fellas. I've been running customs since the first ones came out for the Wizard. Always looking for the latest and the greatest. Thanks.
I am using radio version 1.46.00.11 (Indigo lite and other ROM's). I have sometimes poor cellular reception, sometimes I am not available at all.
I am thinking that changing my radio version, might help in this.
I am asking the Europian buddies here (900/1800 GSM networks) what is the best/optimized radio version at your own knowledge/experience?
I believe the American optimized version is different since Americans are using the 950/1900 GSM networks.

Have tried the shipped radio version and my current 1.46.30.11. The performance is the same, meaning relatively speaking bad indoor (low or no signal sometimes). Outdoor good.
same for me
I was told bt someone that I might be using a bit incompatible radio version, so I'm trying to investigate.
I update my radio to 1.46.30.11 from 1.38... and and the big differens is that gps performes much faster and everything seems to be just better with this radio. seems that my batterie is last a little bit longer than before too,
so Im very happy with this update.
I had 1.46.30.11 but went back to 1.46.00.11 and its much better !!
No more dropped calls for me
Dunno why but I think for Europe 1.46.00.11 is better ...
Kind regards,
I returned to... 1.38 which seems a bit better than 1.46.xxx
Using 1.46.00.11 in the Netherlands without problems, but the original was radio was fine also. Basically, could not detect any differences so far for me but will skip flashing to 1.46.30.11 since the numerous bad experiences with it.
Where can i find the 1.38.00.11 radio? only radio
in XDA's FTP site.
You know what, i look at this forum everday hoping to improve my phone. I don't know anyone else who does this, and those that know I do think i'm mad.
All i'm trying to do is get a good sigal on my phone. I've tried flashing every radio ROM and and its time to face up to it... we'll never get a decent signal on these things.
I get two bars in my house. Just put my sim into a nokia n82 and its constantly on full bars! 3.5g too constantly.
Have I got a duff phone? or are all these HTC TDs just crap at what their primary purpose is ... to connect to a mobile network properley?
Shame. i'm thinking of buying an i900 Omnia instead, Is this any better for signal strength? maybe i should use my old nokia 2110 from the 90s. prob has a better battery still than the HTC TD!
Just out of curiosity... Why are you posting this as a new thread in the rom development forum?
I'm also looking for better signal strength... Have been ever since getting my diamond. I've also flashed all available radio roms... But this is (at least in my experience) quite common with these phones... After a couple of month (and a couple of version updates to radio roms) for the most part resolved...
The diamond is the first phone which give me full bars at my home. Using .05 radio.
No probs at all.
I understand your beef with eh signal man but this is not the correct place to voice your issue as this part of the forum is for ROM development.
Have you tried other Radios too?
To see 2 or 5 bars - it is a question of programming. This does not mean, you will have a "better" signal on a different device.
On the other hand, your handset can be also defected.
BTW I think this is not the right forum to post this problem.
Because i've been trying all the radio ROMS here and they don't seem to make any difference to the RF. Maybe battery power is improved. I read that elsewhere that the poor signal was just down to the ROM.
Does a Radio ROM exist that actually improves reception?
Thanks,
Mark

goodnite. now u can sleep.
ps: jus cudnt stand seein u get mad on ur own!
I have a complete opposite exprience. Before i had orange i had no reception in my house. Neither with the sim in my diamond. I changed to hi/kpn and got 2 bars inside and 2 outdoors (with radio .03). With radio .05 2 bars inside and 3 bars outdoors. With .07 the same as .05 only faster gps fix. Now with .08 i have 3 bars inside and 4 outdoors.
ill sacrifice a bar or two ANY day to have the coolest device in the world. im almost batman!

With duttys roms i always got gps issues, using swiftblades 6.0 lite now. I get a gps signal in my living room (near windows) which was not possible with older phones i used or with any of my girlfriends phones.
But i can tell you it was a hard way of trying roms and settings to get my diamond working nearly perfect.
I think its a good mix of a rom, radio and settings.
Only way is trying.
...its no advertise for the diamond. Its still a nice ppc but i prefer other devices.

I'm with you on this, if all we wanted was better reception we'ld never be buying these things. (Mine last almost a year at best) It's all about tweaking, playing & most of all coolness (My teenage kids will kill me)
Guys i am starting a poll about your experience for radios , which radio you find best please Vote for it
very fine regards
Radio 1.06.25.29 Was good
Radio 1.11.25.76 Sucks
Radio 1.14.25.55 Is best for me so far
But hey, it all depends on location and provider. So it will be different for everyone.
Thanks for sharing your experience
the bad things i found in Radio 1.14.25.55
1st. very much battery eater
2nd. for me loud speaker (louder sux) , when i change to prevoious version loud speaker working fine
Dear respected Senior Members, you please also post/vote , about your experience with radios, that which radio you found best for you in all maners
Fine regards
1.14.25.55 for was horrible, first night I used it battery drained in less then 6 hours, 1.11.25.76 have had no issues with it....
WC
For me, radio that comes with Stock ROM still better..Tested with 1.11.25.76 and 1.14.25.55, didn't seem any improvement..
solved 1.14 battery drain enabling gprs connection autodisconnect (10 minutes).
loving the enhanced signal reception.
Radio 1.14.25.55 seem fine...been using it for a few days and doesnt encounter any problems so far...

and also you tried 1.14

1.14 for me, especially with the right rilplhone. reception is much better in marginal areas, which is where I am most of the time.
Dont forget that it's best to flash new radio at 100% battery

Maybe this explains why some people say about increased battery drain with 1.14 abnd some others don't.
I am happy with 1.14 (+rilphone.dll kindly provided by fards). Better GSM signal and better GPS accuracy. I don't experience any excessive battery drain, maybe because my data connection is disabled, most of the the time, with NoData uitlity.
hohoho.. no wonder i got higher battery drainage.. my Data connection always on to push mail.. and since 3G/hsdpa line not strong enuf.. my place always change from 3G to EDGE then bak to 3G again.. like keep on chainging..
idle stay with 3G, when data then EDGE..
n i do reliase there is better GPS accuracy n better response on v1.14..
juz flashed bak to v1.11 2day.. if i got free time, sure will update u all... thx for informing that v1.14 really a battery drainage radio..haha...
devalian try 1.14.* with rilplhone.dll Provided by fards
i'm hating Radio 1.14.25.55 since its a battery hog
ive had good luck with 1.10 but i did not test the 1.11s

wich Radio do you suggest me to use ???!!
untill now im using 1.10.25.18 and many people think it has more battery power
please someone can tell me wich one to use? bec there are new ones and i dont realy know if they are better as they are new?
TY very much!!
You have to try them and see how they work for you. How "good" or "bad" a radio is depends on your location, provider, GPS app you use, the color of your shirt, etc.
For me, 1.17 works really well.
I second Harvey... Radio is fully based on your service provider... Try and use it for minimum 3 days...(to check battery drains, signal strength, call drops etc) and then decide to stick on one.
For me 1.17 works well (excellent)
PS: i forgot.... color of shirt is very important for ur Radio ROM... haha kidding...
well, flashed to 1.16 a few month ago - my previous version (ex factory, I recall) was 1.03
big improvement! 2 more bars, big improvement in the car as well
well, personally for me it goes like that..
1.10.25.18 has the best gps fix time for me
1.14 is the most stable
1.16 has not impressed me at all
Anyway, it seems to me radio version is not THAT important. You know, r2a roms are rock stable and have long battery time while r3a drain battery and freeze phones for many people
