Hello , i have HTC Wings and i have very small free RAM How this repair?
Try Oxios Hibernate. It will free up ram.
i install Oxios and i have 12 MB free RAM
How much free ram would you expect? On the average I am on 18MB just after a reboot, about 15MB after having run some programs.

The specs in the HTC Dream list 192MB of ram and 256MB of rom. I have about 30MB of free ram..
So is android 2.1 really using the entire 162MB of ram?
Thanks

most of the time i only have 10mb free ram
This question is lame.
First off, with the right radio/spl combination, there is over 100 MB of RAM available for Android/Linux. The balance is allocated to the GPU/media, and RADIO PROCESSOR.
Free memory on Android is MEANINGLESS. It has an intelligent process killer. Based on process priorities, when there is insufficient RAM to run the software you are trying to run, it will kill off low priority processes to free up what you need. The correct behavior is for Android to keep everything running/loaded until the memory is needed for other processes, at which point it will kill low priority ones to make room.
Is there any gingerbread-rom that uses less ram after boot? Searching for something that gives you more free ram (or useable ram...I know that android uses free ram to preload apps which is not an issue) to work with, not necessarily a ram-script that uses the ram more intelligent (I know that there are usable out there).
Sidenote: I had an Omnia II I8000 Windows Mobile phone that struggled alot because Samsung put to less Ram (usable by the system) in it. But it recieved an Android-Port by the community (it's in this forum). While still buggy and instable, it only uses about 100 MB Ram after boot (for froyo). Why does the SGS need 200 MB? Are there some "light roms" out there?
Juwe released a RAM script for more RAM (339 instead of 329MB).

Hi all,
Question about i957 ram:
It shows on my device that I only have 755MB of ram. My used ram always is shown to be over 400MB, giving me less than 350MB to free ram use, and in a lot of cases less than 150MB of free ram.
1) I thought the tablet comes with 1GB ram. Where is the remaining 245MB?
2) Is it normal to have over 400MB of ram being occupied by something at all times?
Thanks

Some RAM is needed for Android OS and the device's components for them to work. Some ROMs manage RAM better than others but since we have lots, it is not something we have to worry about for now. ICS manages it better so look forward to it.

Hi there.
1. Some space used by the system such as android OS etc as said above.
2. I too got frightened when I see that as my S2 isn't that high usage. However yes it is normal. For my tab, with all the apps closed, i am running about 570+

Well as we all know our phones have 512 RAM but only 357 is usable.Why...I realy want the rest of the ram...mostly for multi tasking. So the question is HOW can we increse ur usable RAM to 512...and what system uses the rest...ram...allready when I start my phone the "system" takes more then 154 mb...with 0 apps running.
Choose a kernel with bigmem. They are all pushing 400 MB of available ram on the i9000.
SlimICS is just under 80 MB including Google apps.
To get the most out of multi-tasking you'll want to set the amount of ram the minfree taskkiller will keep, really low, like 25MB.
The 512mb of RAM is devided into two, for systems apps and for the user (you) you get 357mb while the other 100 odd is being used for system processes

Thx all and I understand that the systen uses 100 but what does use the 155 mb when I start my phone; we realy nees to make a kernel that supports at least 400+ mb it will help a lot for multi tasking

You can't. These phones have 512mb of RAM. ~100mb is used as Shared Graphics Memory like on Intel based laptops and such. The rest is then allocated to the system. This usually leaves around 350mb - 400mb of RAM available.
I'm not 100% on this because I'm new to Android (Had my SGS for 2 weeks). I think when Kernels have "bigmem" or differing amounts of RAM all they're doing is reducing the amount allocated to the GPU and therefore giving the system a bit more to run with.
well that is what i want more ram, "bigmem", if anyone can make it to an kernel for I9001 I/We will be very happy...
Try and apply called RAM BOOSTER PRO to free a lot of ram it's very useful

If my device has more than 300mb ram means its performs fast but most of the times the system using more memory to make my phone lag....already using all options available to make the ram free but still its not good enough...
