i called telenav and was able to get a copy of telenav, is there an interest id me linking to it ?
Wdum? Like posting the link? Idk if thats ok on these forums unless it's the trial.
its not the trial, its the full version. but you still have to have an account to use it. they will not give it to cingular users who use the g1, but i acquired a copy. and i am not sure if these forums allow that or not.
h. I'm guessing you pay for the account? I dont really know how the app works in terms of activating lol
It's $10 a month but I don't like pay monthly I don't understand why they just don't put a price to the software and that's it. Why they charge monthly?
http://www.telenav.com/gps-navigator/t-mobile-g1-phone/
Im trying out the demo version, do you wanna post a review and screenshot of it in paid apps or would you like me to?
I haven't installed it, I always forget to cancel autostart subscriptions. Although I guess I could put a reminder in my phone.
Haha ok ill put one up there, so far it works really good, a bit sluggish but i dont have the best signal right now!

OMG that is so (insert term applicable to aad4321, used in a derogatory manner) that you would think they would charge for a trial version. That's usually what a trial version IS.

Anyone and everyone requires a credit card, for auto renewal AFTER the 30-day trial.
It's almost a standard for most companies now-a-days.

Thank you. I wouldn't put my card information in a trial version of anything. That's very "uncool."
Most credit card companies will let you make a vitual card number that is only good once. I think PayPal was exploring the same option too. This way they can't make it recurring.
any idea if it'll work in UK? on US only?
TeleNav GPS Navigator problem
hey guys,
i am using telenav gps for 30 days trial. when i tried to type in an address then click ok, the display says "getting gps" 30....31...32...34...blah blah till 100 percents for 8 minutes. then it says "no gps, please move to open area".. i was in my car and been waiting till done before leave. my email is confirmed. i live in san diego.
I don't have any experience with telenav, but does the gps work normaly? Say for goggle maps?
Move to an area that you can pick up a signal, that might help.
Telenav GPS Navigation Update? How will we know?
Ok I got the Telenav GPS Navigation software and I am mostly pleased. However, My question is when and if they update the software how will I know there's a new update for the software since it isn't downloaded through the Android Market? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Well I'm not sure. See I called the customer service not too long ago and I got this guy that didn't seem like he knew much of what he was talking about. And I asked him and he told me you had to call and ask. But I think that's ridiculous. And I agree with you. You should be able to download it on the market. It is free. Its the service u have to pay for not the application. so I hope they eventually put it on there or send us emails or something. Its gonna bug me because come on, it works pretty good but it clearly needs some updates.

Weatheryoko will be pleased to hear that i have today ordered my LEGAL version of TomTom 6 - after trying the tomtom 5.21 (Cracked version) and the tomtom 6 (Cracked version) and various other nav systems(all Cracked), i have decided that tomtom are a good system to use. The reason for my trying these different versions is because i paid mercedes £1500 to have satnav fitted in a car i ordered from them and found it to be utter rubbish, besides not being portable between vehicles etc. Once fitted it's then obviously too late for refunds etc. As there isn't any option, i've found, to test these systems before purchase, it made sense to try the cracked versions.
As Weatheryoko is so anti-piracy i trust he will now hand back any owned property, to the indigenous population/native americans, that were "stolen" "pirated" from them by his forebears, and will campaign on their behalf for other such lands to be returned - or is it the usual - do as i say not as i do
Glad to hear it....
I'm glad to hear that your buying a legal version, and thanks for the "jabs". Just so you know, I'm an immigrant and I (nor my ancestors) were here when the lands were stolen from the Native Americans. We weren't even here during the last "land grab" of 1889. Believe me when I say this, I think is was shameless the way they were treated. Having lived in Oklahoma (which is Choctaw for "Red People" FYI), I know this story too well. Maybe this is what prompted me to donate funds to the American Indian College Fund. I would recommend that you get to know people first, before making rash judgements. Maybe that was the problem with the early American settlers? What do you think? Mate, if you want to throw stones in glass houses, do you want to talk about the Ireland or Scotland? We could also talk about slavery (which both your and my country had at one time) if you chose. The bottom line, neither country is clean. Atrocities know no political boundary. Darfur, Nazi Germany, Crusades, Bosnia, Cambodia... pick one. I can't change the past, but I can choose how I live in the present. If I see someone doing something wrong, I try to do something about it. I'm not perfect. I **** things up occassionally, but I learn, try to make things right and move on.
This isn't an attack on you, so please don't take it personally. However, reading your comments prompted me to respond. Since this thread is already way off topic, I won't comment any further. Bottom line, glad to see that you bought the legal version. Please encourage others to do so. I do wish though that TomTom would provide an "evaluation version" so people could evaluate it for while before purchasing. This may cut down on the wide-spread use of cracked versions.

Agreed, to expect someone to pay that much without testing it a bit first is a bit much imo.
You can see it in a shop but not just try driving down the street a bit which would give you a proper idea of what its like.
Weatheryoko - it wasn't meant as a personal attack i was just using irony as an example - agreed the world is probably never going to be perfect - but please don't judge people for using what is available for evaluation or other reasons - surely that is the greatest tool that the internet and forums such as this provide - btw tomtom is a good product imho and i took the opportunity only to evaluate the possibilities before parting with my ill gotten gains having been stung before  Enough said, as you rightly stated this is way off topic - and we all have our own opinions, which is why the world is, as is.
well done ..but the tt6 version isn't compatable with tt6 on tomtom website yet,but i'm sure you will gloat at how well it works if it does work ,i'm waiting for some positives before i splash out this time
Can anyone tell me where the TomTom6 for PocketPC can be ordered. I've checked the Tomtom website and the only 6.x version I can order is for the various GO devices... but no PDA so far :-(
I ordered mine from the guy that supplies me with all my desktop/laptops and all other it/comms paraphernalia - and as one of his best  customers, hopefully he'll come up with the goods as soon as he has them. But he has been known to be notoriously slow at times - so i won't hold my breath - it's only an order and as i understand you can order from pc world business or, presumably, other retailers - unfortunately i don't have a delivery date as such, just a promise, but then again i'm in no hurry, it's only another toy to play with!

yup they get you buy the short and curleys as teh software is free you only pay for the maps
All TomTom maps, voices etc. are coded to the individual TomTom software ID and are not interchangeable across TomTom users or TomTom versions, you need to buy everything all over again.

I have had enough of people not thinking before posting pirated software. XDA Developers is a very valuable resource that can be closed down very quickly beacuse of pirated software, and thats something I dont ever want to see happen.
Dont get me wrong I use pirated software as much as the next person, but I dont go posting it on legit sites! Ejits like you are what get messsage boards closed down.
XDA DEV IS NOT A WAREZ BOARD SO DONT TREAT IT LIKE ONE!
RANT OVER!

You want to take a chill pill, i only posted a link to another website, I have posted no illegal files in this post and nor does the link take you directly to a warez file download, XDA dev are not legally responsible for links to other websites. I think they were having problems with the game because it was in the market earlier and now its not. A lot of the reviews said it was very laggy or didn't work. I'm really hoping it gets fixed because I really want it even though its 10 bucks.

The post for those too lazy to go and read it
Currently there is a way to add your google voice number to MyFaves and avoid using any minutes for almost any call.
I don't know if this is "Working as intended" or is an unplaned gaff....
Let me tell you why T-Mobile should not only let this happen, but encourage this.
I have a G1, cheapest plans possible. my bill is around 60 bucks a month...
If this MyFaves/GV trick became something i could count on here are the actions i will take with out question.
I will Buy my wife the MyTouch (canceling her current Virgin Mobile pay as u go plan)
I will change my calling plan to a "MyFaves" famlie plan
I will have unlimmited data plans on both phones.
I will cancle my current home phone (Vonage)
My T-mobile monthly bill will go from $60 a month to over $125, and it will become my and my wife's main phone lines.
Also with work/friends i am the known "Android hacker" and people listen to me...
When i tell people about this possiblity they get excited and want in on it.

Yes, they know about it. That doesn't mean it's a good idea to give them the impression that this is a mainstream usage scenario.
Often service providers will tolerate a small percentage (lets say 1-5%) of their customerbase that uses a signficantly larger proportion of bandwidth than average. They may be losing money on these customers, but as long as the loss is lower than the loss that would be incurred due to negative press from terminating those customers, they will let the small percentage slide.
By bumping/posting that thread, you are basically giving T-Mo (and any other carrier with similar pricing) a reason on a silver plate to go and shut the MyFaves "loophole" right now. Kudos.
*Note: I don't have MyFaves, so I could really not care less how it turns out from a personal standpoint.

I couldn't have said this all better myself.
To OP: Be happy with the loophole you have now. Make this mainstream and you'll see the loophole closed up nice and quick.
Here is the thing...
I personally will not do the things in my post unless i can confirm it is something i can rely on.
scenario
I buy a 2nd phone for the wife
I cancel my home (Vonage) phone line
I then begin to rely on this piggy backing as a part of my monthly finances...
BOOM
T-mobile closes the loophole.
I am stuck with an extra phone/Plan that i can't get out of....
My bill goes through the roof because these phones are now our only voice option.
Until i get a confirmation from T-Mobile i will push the issue...
If it ruins it for everyone... so be it
When it comes to contracts and my monthly finances, there is no room for guess work.

Then... why are you relying on beta services and loopholes for your core telecommunications?
It seems to me that what you need to get is one of those truly unlimited in-region calling (I think MetroPCS has something like that? Also T-Mo has the Unlimited Loyalty Plan.) You can be assured that you'll be billed a flat monthly rate that way regardless of your usage and regardless of whether or not you are routing through GV.

1) Your life's micromanagement must make you a joy to be around
2) jashsu said it best. You are giving carriers a reason to enforce "Fav" calling to individuals and not blanket numbers. The phrase "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" only applies if annoying customer (e.g. you) is the only one affected. This is not the case here. Especially since Google purchased the 1 million some odd numbers from Level 3.
3) You're using a known buggy service that's very still much in beta as your sole means of telecommunication. For someone so uptight about control that seems oddly, and stupidly, out of character.
4) It's stupid to think that this will actually gain customers. There are a fixed number of Google Voice numbers in existence and I can pretty much assure you they are all spoken for.
Edit: Just to elaborate on #4, Last night I used the call back feature of GV. Do you know how long it took the service to ring my phone? 8 minutes. That's perfectly acceptable for your only means of telecommunication.

I don't know what industry you work in, but let me just put it bluntly and say that generally large multinational corporations don't make potentially significant alterations to their business plan based on whiny posts on their forums. It is questionable whether anyone with the authority to make a declaration of the kind you are hoping for even reads or has a pr secretary that reads that forum on t-mobile.com.
If (and i'm not holding my breath here) they legitimize unlimited calling in some kind of promotion/profit-sharing deal with Google, that was probably planned months in advance by a team of profit-cost analysts and in no way whatsoever did they give two ****s about your petition. I can just about guarantee that.

I know for a fact that google would like ISP's and Tel-Co to be more like a "Pipe" for data. With Google controlling as much content as they can (for advertisement $$)
This Google Voice product is a perfect example of this coming to fruition.
All you need is one TelCo jumping on board and prices come down for everyone.

You guys sometime forget very important things although you prepared it all very good, but at the last moment you still forget it.
Today it happened with me, I sent mine passport away for an visa application, but after I got home I see that I forget to put the required flight ticket with it.
After that I read suddenly that the travel plan is still needed, first I though it was not needed any more from 22-03-2012, but just now I read that it is not needed any more from 22-03-2013.
So now I'm confused, did I read it wrong or did they first put on that page 22-03-2012? Well I send two mails with the missing documents, I hope they don't charge me administration costs for those 4 A4 prints they need to make for me now.
CRAP! You just reminded me of something! Sorry about your problem but I got to go! Literally!

I guess you never need apply for an visa which requires you to put many documents with the application.
That's where I'm talking about, I forget to put two important documents and I already e-mailed the documents to that company, but I got no response back. I could be they just print it and add and that it, but I would like an response.
I'm now like tracking the package I send to them and I will call later again if I see they got it. As they must see the mistake them self to, they must control it on mistakes.
ohhh, u made a mistake applying for your visa, gotcha. Can't say I feel ur pain bro, im Canadian. Hope it works out for u thou
The annoying thing is, normally she answers the mail kinda fast, but I haven't got an reply on mine mail anymore since 22-03-2012.
I guess they are busy? May is probably a month many people will apply for a visa. Oh well I just keep tracking the package and if they wanna charge me € 15 administration costs for printing 4A papers then I will send an mail that I found a company who does the visa application cheaper.
But I don't think they send it to the ambassade whichout checking everything. I'm just human so I can make mistakes to.
EDIT
Everything will come alright the company mailed.
I am nearing the finishing and release phase of an app I've been working on and so I was going through creating a Merchant Account since it will be a paid app. There were two things that stopped me, however. One was the website which I have created and will be uploading in a bit.
The thing that caused me to pause creating the Merchant Account was the "Legal Business information" section. Do I need to be aware of anything here, legal-wise? I mean, I'm just a software developer for my 9-5 and work on this Android app in my spare time. Do I need to have anything setup, legally (I dunno, an LLC? Or whatever)? Can I just use my full name for the "Business Name?"
Sorry if it's a dumb question but I'd like to know what I'm getting into before I jump into it. Thanks for any help, I appreciate it guys.

From what i know you do not need to be a business in order to submit app's to the play store and can use your name as the developer/business name

Thanks for the reply. Last night after posting this I looked at the "Create Merchant Account" form and I didn't see anything to do with tax, either there or the other places I looked in the Developer Console. I swear I had saw something to do with tax when I first looked at the process but maybe I'm getting confused with something else I've read.

NO problem.. Good luck with your app.
Im currently trying to learn how to create/write code . I have some ideas for some apps that i think would be good. Which is why i looked up the info on how to submit apps to the playstore.

Just like to add something here.
Google in general takes a "it's up to you" approach when it comes to taxes. That is, you are supposed to determine whether anything is taxable, and remit them by yourself if it is.
I heard some countries have a sales tax/VAT that's applicable even you don't have any business physically located in that country. But I haven't heard of any dev having trouble with this and so this is kind of in a grey area.
The good news is that for EU countries and Brazil (they DO have the above-stated VAT), Google will pay it for you. The bad news is that the tax will be deducted from your income. I usually set the price for EU and Brazil higher to compensate for this.
Also, you may also need to pay income tax and/or state tax etc. I don't live in the US so I don't know much about this.
It'd be better if you can find a decent tax advisor for this. But I know it's difficult.
Good luck and happy publishing on Google Play

Hmmm. Do you think a tax advisor would understand or have sufficient knowledge about mobile apps on the Google Play store to give advice?
So it sounds like for EU countries and Brazil I'd want to do the same thing (raise price a bit for the app). I doubt many people are even going to download this thing but I like to know what I'm getting into before I just jump into something. Thanks for your help.

Well this is Google's official recommendation.
But I don't really know if a tax advisor will help, because I jumped in before finding one.
