Its wierd, when I was running JFv1.41, the paid apps were not on the market... Now that Im back to stock (after the holiday update) I can purchase paid apps again. I thought Google decided that ADP1's cannot purchase apps, only free ones.
Am I missing something here?
BTW, I bought Tether Wifi. (AWESOME!)
They don't block paid apps for ADP1, only DRM enabled ones.
Not to burst anyone bubble but isn't tether wifi here on the forums for free????

Ahome Paid App Dissappearing.
*Solved*
The last day or two the ahome paid application has been going on and off the market for me. I was currently on the market planning to buy it and now it isn't shown again (it was there earlier today). Is anyone having this same problem or can any of you currently see it?
Thanks.
Once again the paid version, I can always see the free one.
I have adp1.1h
*Solution*: If you are having any problems buying or seeing paid apps I found that flashing with rc33 fixes this. Adp1.1h only works with some paid apps. (I love ahome)
I can still see the paid version, its $2.99
am running on Jf RC-33
I have yet to see the paid version =/
there is a paid version, i paid 2.99 and it works great, one of the best apps on the market
What are the extra features in the paid version
i couldnt tell you , i never seen the free version
could you download the free one and compare for us cheep people

As of now there are basically no differences, but I purchased it for two reasons.
1. It will increase in price in a week.
2. The free version stops getting any updates except bug fixes as of two days ago.
The subtle changes that have been made so far can be found in the description of the app in the market.

While in market home click on Applications->All Applications->Menu->Change View->Priced items only.
If that shows paid apps, thats good.
aHome no-launchy
So I've been using aHome for a few days and last night an update to the paid program came down the pipe. Installed it and now the program will not launch. If the DEV is listening, what up?
Edit: Problem solved... Damn default was set on original home program. All better now...
Sorry to hear of your troubles, but I dont know if its a problem with ahome. I have the most recent updates as well and mine runs perfectly.
aHome and Cupcake image issues?
I'm on the HtC build for cupcake at the moment and I just update aHome to the lastest version that has aHome cupcake. Everything is running find except the music widget has a graphical glitch. The image for the music widget is shown twice with the second one overlayed the first at center. When in landscape mode its fine except the end is shown overlayed by a second image of the music widget. I dunno if this is becase aHome cupcake is made for the G version instead of the H version? I emailed mappn makers of aHome but they never respond.
I was wondering if anybody is having this issue as well with H or G version of cupcake.
ahome now cupcake compatible!!
It allows you to install a different version and all the widgets work.
Awesome stuff
I noticed the same thing with open home.
sorry for being such a noob,
but does anyone wanna send me the .apk file?
Thanks.
its a paid app, and theres a demo one for free :]
i hate how it says.

alright,
can i get a mod to close this?
Is there an easy way to tether my N1?, Needing internet access on train journeys when i get my new laptop and seeing as it was simple on my old iPhone, I just assumed it would be a readily available setting or app on the N1?
- Thanks.

I did try searching, what is it you type into the search box that it shows up for you?
Is that an app on the Marketplace or what?
you should be able too simply type in pdanet into the market search and it show up. However, using my ATT 3G Nexus One the app is missing from the market. It was there three days ago when I downloaded it.
I had to do a factory reset and luckily I backed it up to my sdcard.
just checked, pdanet free is on the app market. I'm using tmobile and i was on wifi when I checked though...
Thanks guys, im gonna purchase the full version if i can, 2.41 update has a cool text messaging via pc feature aswell :-D

that's weird. I downloaded it to my att 3G Nexus three days ago but now it doesn't show up in the market. Oh well guess it doesn't matter thanks to my back up.
Thanks for the additional info though. A guy on another forum couldn't find it either on his att 3G until he switched to a Tmobile SIM...then it showed. Weird stuff.

at&t probably blocking it, they have a huge beef with people tethering iirc
that's cool if they are because I'll have more fun tethering if I feel I'm doing something I shouldn't be doing.
Thanks for your reply.
So, Launcher Pro + has just been released, and he's charging 3 bucks for it.
This is my question, How do I get it onto my rooted Captivate? I know it's only 3 dollars, but I'd rather know how to get it on before I actually buy it. Know what I mean?
It isn't available in the market yet, so we have to send him a paypal directly.
Launcherpro.com
side load it with droid explorer? That guy did a great job with launcher pro.

Quit being cheap and support a developer that worked hard to make a beautiful piece of software.
As you said, it's only 3 dollars.
This is my first android phone. I promise developers will get my money but you have no reason to call anyone cheap. It was a question. If you have a problem with my questions don't read them.
So, what is droid explorer?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
oh i didnt see that you wanted to know how to do it illegally. Droid explorer is program that helps sideload apps. Just do a search for captivate and droid explorer or look through our sideloading apps threads.
On the piracy note, its not ok to discuss such things here because not only is it morally incorrect but xda has to own up for the activities of its users.
btw, because the new launcher pro + costs money, i highly recommend getting the launcher pro regular. Launcher pro truly shines in its speed and flexibility not its widgets. You can always dl more widgets for free from the marketplace. Ofc i will buy his launcher pro + when it comes to market just on principle because of the great launcher alternative he has provided free of charge for everyone to use.
No I wans buy it but I don't know how to put non market apps on my phone. It is rooted though. Does that help?

sho does, you should pay for it and then he will provide you with an apk to install it with. Droid explorer can take care of the rest. There are other alternatives as well. You should read the sideloading apps threads here in the captivate forums because there is alot of information you should go over b4 attempting and getting frustrated and giving up. Post for help there if you still dont understand after reading through .
Thanks! And just to clear the air, I do not believe in piracy. Developers work too hard on their products. I've paid for most of my programs with Nokia and Apple, just as I will here. I just didn't know how to do it!
I'll look up droid explorer and read that thread. Thanks for the help
Launcher Pro is a mad awesome app. I would pay 10.00 or more for it. I swear my Captivate is TWICE as fast as The iPhone 4 i just returned to At&t.
The dev states it will be in the App market soon, at least thats how I took it from reading his website.

I'm stating that he should buy it. If it doesn't work I can almost guarantee that the developer would give him a refund.
Next time you're at a car dealership, steal a car for me so I can drive it for a week.... I want to make sure it "works" with my style of driving before I purchase it..
Launcher Pro in the market is almost exactly the same as the plus version, but without the custom widgets included. Other than that it's the same. No need to steal.
He didnt say anything about pirating it. He said he wants to buy it but is not sure how to install a non market app. He is just doing a little pre purchase research.
Would you buy a car before or after you learned to drive?

Ugh, you think you can get away from Trolls who can't read, or at least piece together what someone says.
Not once did I say I wanted to pirate software. I said that I don't know how to put a non-market app on a device since AT&T will not allow it. So why would I spend my money on something that I can't put on there?
Do you buy 18 inch tires for your 16 inch rims, just because bridgestone makes a good tire? No. Sheesh, just leave me alone SkYz.

Show me where I said I was going to steal it? Go read my first post and explain to me which part meant I was going to try and pirate software. Once you've decided on which part, read the whole post again and figure it out a second time.

Why would you need to do that? You have "paper work" to back you up. You think Paypal is going to refund you for downloading a program that you should have researched if it was compatible with your phone or not? That is what he is trying to do. Next time just give him his answer.
You could have been like "Yes, I have it installed right now."

Why not just install the free version and see if you like it and if so upgrade to the paid version.
Also under settings - applications - unknown sources is where you can install apps from the market that would usually not install. --- Did ATT cripple that in the Captivate??

Anyone been able to get the PayPal app to run on a Wifi only Xoom? Whenever I try to login I get "system error, please try again"

we're not talking about paying for an EBAY purchase..We're talking about the application..I get the exact same thing bro..So you are not crazy..its not even available in the market for us anymore..also bank of america was removed for us also. there's a reason i am sure of it.
I am having the same issue on the Wifi only Asus Transformer.
Same problem here. Some braindead developer made the assumtion all Android devices will always have a mobile number and PIN methinks...
gah i just revived my paypal account after years and this is all I want.
such silly silly developers.
i also hate how companies that have mobile apps never really pay attention to how they work and the updates come soooo slowly. such as paypal, MLBAtBat, etc etc.
if anyone finds a fix for this pleeease post it

Yes they do. GetJar has been around for quite some time too, it's kinda cool to see it getting the attention it has been lately.
I've seen alot of members mention this service. Nothing wrong with keeping the service on device is there? Wasnt sure if people were using the service and then taking off their phones or what.
agrred I already use them and they are great!
great. thanks!! always wanted to try tapatalk.
They seem to add new apps weekly so check back in occasionally

Does anybody know how GetJar apps are updated?
They're not appearing in my Android Market list and I don't see how to do it in the GetJar app....
Will I have to go through Manage Apps->Downloaded Apps->Update every time?
Sorry if this is a silly question, but I've only been using GetJar for a little while.

you can't even update that way because you didn't buy it through market.
getjar apps don't get updates unless the publisher puts them on there, in which case you have to download it manually.
for example, the current version of tapatalk is actually 1.12.7, but getjar only has the 1.12.6 version.
but hey, free stuff is free stuff

good to know, i'm actually new to it too. i knew of it but heard more on twit/all about android. honestly i thought the Gold program was still a paid (like subscription) deal so i never checked it out. but yeah its totally awesome.
as with all alternative app stores, the updating is an issue but they are aware of it and working towards better solutions. right now it really is mainly on the developers who have to push their apps to different stores which is tedious. but yeah, i'm totally into free stuff even if its a version behind. if i need it that bad, i can support the dev and buy it via market.
Is SPB Shell in there? No way in hell I'm paying $15 for a launcher that I'll be bored with in one day.

As best I can tell, it's a great way to try out paid versions - especially when the paid version is more than just ad-free. If I find it worth while (and that it's worth the price to have the most recent version) I'll probably end up paying for the most recent version.
everyone should check out fractoid
