Hi!
I've recently bought an HTC windows mobile, so I'm still trying to figure it out. So sorry if I'm asking a n00b-question
But anyways, I'm trying to make a .lnk-file that links to Total Commander (which is placed in \Program Files\Total Commander\)
Can anyone either make one for me and upload it, OR write here what I should put in the .lnk-file. I'd be very grateful!
Run TC, go to \program files\total commander, select cecmd.exe, then tap file -> >>>>> -> create shortcut, select this shortcut, tap file -> copy/move, write \windows\menu start\programs in the textbox, tap move.
Edit: It should be \windows\start menu\programs if you have english system
Oh, didn't think it was that simple. I thought you had to write it manually!
Thanks for the quick answer!

Hey!
I want to put Total Commander into Start Menu (Start>>Total Commander), not into Start>>Programs>>Total Commander!
If i setup:
Code:
Directory("\Windows\Start Menu"):-File("Total Commander.lnk","\Windows\cecmd.lnk")
in the initflashfiles.dat, after flashing onto device it moves to "Programs". Don't now why!
I know i could make it in Settings>>Menu.
But i want this Link at first boot
Although i want to remove the "Search"!
Hope u understand my Problem and bad english
Thanks Mapero
You exceeded the maximum file in the start menu.. try removing some items in start menu (i.e. Messaging or IE...)
Do any of you know how to overwrite the gif image myinfo.192.gif it is saved in local\windows dir.. i get an error message when trying to delete or replace.
I wish to customise this startup page with my own image. Or, has anyone ever thought of customising this page with any add-on's?
What i would like is to use the S2U2 slider on this page as opposed to tapping the screen. But i imagine this would be a difficult task... or maybe not???
Please what are your thoughts?
When and where do you see this image?
Try to copy your edited file to a folder somewhere on the phone ... then use Total Commander (on the phone) to copy it to the windows folder...
It’s a hidden file and the attribute also shows it's in ROM. I have already tried to copy to the windows folder with GSFinder but to no avail.
I will give total commander a try, thank you.
EDIT!!!
WoW great stuff Total Commander Worked! I would still like to edit this My Info Page with add-on's, so if any thoughts on this they will be greatly appreciated. There must be some way to add some controls of some type slide to unlock etc?
Thanks

I have a question
I have the game "Worms" on my device. To specify it's on my storage card.
Today I made a hard reset.
Now I want to make a link to the .exe from Worms. Cause now I hae to go through file-explorer and I want it like it was before the hard reset. There was a link in my games folder before the hard reset under programs...
How can I do this again ?
resco file explorer is your friend
Sorry, but I don't unsterstand this....
It is being suggested you download and install Resco Explorer a pay-for app that does have a free trial. Resco allows you to Click/Hold an .exe file and Send To a StartMenu shortcut which are trying to do.
You can do it the hard way with Notepad but it is a pain.
http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/
Total Commander, I think will do it too, but I own Resco and am familiar with it. It is FREE.
Hi
If you use Resco File explorer you can create shortcut to any exe file.it wil be placed to your start menu.but you can do it manualy too.without useing Resco FE.
1. Open Notepad
2. Place the entire path to the file in the first line of the file, including the .exe file. You must use quotation marks if it resides in a directory with spaces, such as “\Program Files.”
3. Count the number of characters in the command line, including spaces and quotes, to get the length of the string.
4. In the .lnk file, the format for the line is
<length of string>#<command line>
5. Save the file and copy it to the "\Windows\Start Menu" directory on the Windows CE or Pocket PC device. This places the shortcut at the top level of the Start Menu.
You don't need a 3rd-party explorer or notepad. Creating shortcuts is very simple using the built-in file explorer.
Step 1: Start file explorer.
Step 2: Navigate to the folder the EXE is in.
Step 3: Highlight the EXE.
Step 4: Copy the EXE to the clipboard (Menu | Edit | Copy).
Step 5: Navigate to the start menu folder you want the shortcut in (typically \Windows\Start Menu\Programs).
Step 6: Paste a shortcut to the EXE (Menu | Edit | Paste Shortcut).
Step 7: Rename the shortcut if desired.
The shortcut will now be in start menu programs. You can now move it to and from the top-level start menu using Start | Settings | Menus.

First of all thanks to everyone for posting...
But I have one question....what do you mean with "highlight the EXE?"
I hope you can help me ^^

Click to collapse
When you navigate to a folder in File Explorer, the first file in the folder is highlighted (selected). Highlight the the executable file to which you need a start menu shortcut, either using d-pad down, or tap-n-hold with the stylus. This will be the file copied to the clipboard in step #4.
Note: I use the term "highlight" rather than "select" because selecting the file implies tapping on it, which will open the application. You don't want to start the application.

Do a search. There are many tutorials that can walk you through this.
Ok, I've searched and searched and searched and keep coming up short.
I'd like to make shortcuts to program that I've copied from my computer to my SD card. I've tried creating shortcut with Total Commander, but the shortcut is not appearing. What am I doing wrong?
Is it also possible to move a shortcut to another folder? I've installed a game that didn't place the shortcut in the games folder and I'd like to move it to where it belongs.
It's working fine here. Maybe your version of TC os corrupted? I never use it though, I prefer Resco Explorer.
Anyway, you can make shortcuts and place the:m wherever you want. For example, sometimes games install in "Programs" not in "Games" or show no shortcuts at all. I just make a new shortcut or cut the existing one, browse to windows/start menu/programs/games and paste the shortcut there.
u dont need total commander to make a shortcut.
with windows explorer:
if u go to your program files or what ever u want to make a shortcut to and on the .exe file (if its a app) press copy. u can then have a choice to copy the .exe file or make a shortcut where ever u want.
if u want them in your programs menu, after u have copied the .exe file go to windows/startmenu/programs and paste here, also from here u can also paste it the games or any other folder.
Thank you for the quick help. I was failing to go to the windows directory, instead I was going straight to the programs directory. It works now. Your guys' help is much appreciated. Thank you again.
Hi guys,
I have tomtom navigator installed to storage card but cannot create a shortcut on the today screen either through easytodaylauncher or spb ms3.5.
I got through the usual steps to create a shortcut but tomtom is not there.
to open tomtom I have to go to storagecard/navigator and select the .exe file for it to run.
I have tried copying the .exe file onto the device in to programfiles with no joy.
Please could someone with better intellegence than me tell me how to do it?
Thank you for reading.
Use total commander to create a shortcut to \windows\Start menu\Programs
I also got it at Storage card. Dunno if it will show up at easytodaylauncher and spb ms3.5 but i think so.
Tap and hold .exe file, select Edit > Copy, then navigate to windows/start menu/programs and tap menu and then select Edit > Paste Shortcut. Come out of the folder, go back in and there should be "Shortcut to TomTom..", rename.
Please elaborate on your problem. Does the shortcut appear in the file explorer?
