Just bought a Kaiser and there was no sync cable, can I use any old mini USB to USB to flash HardSPL, unlock etc?
yes you can
Thank you amigo!
There are cheaper cables which will only charge the unit and not create a data connection to your pc.
I tried 3 of these cheaper cables until I got fed up and got a quality cable.
So just in case this happens to you... if you got a problem its 99% most likely to be poor cable.
I used my cable and it was fine, flashed HardSPL, and a cooked ROM, I'm getting an original cable anyway just to have it

My phone is cingular 8125, my USB port can't sync with PC, I don't know what is going on. When I plug the cable to PC, it tell me unknow device detected. I can't do anything thur USB. Can I unlock by SD card or IR port?
Have you tried connecting you phone to a different PC? Also deinstall Activesync and reinstall it (are you running 4.2 or 4.5).
are you able to charge your phone with the AC/DC charger? if so ur port isnt broken.. so try doing what mmrfrazzz says and u could also go a step further and try uninstalling the usb port drivers then reinstalling them. do your other usb devices work? does ur phone indicate its charging when plugged into usb?
I have 2 8125, the other one is OK. I am using Activesync 4.2. I replaced the USB port, it's work for minutes. After dinner, it only charging but not sync!

From what I understand from your post, it sounds like you have a cold solder joint on the contact or contacts that carry the sync signal; you may need to re-solder these. It only worked for a few minutes because when you applied pressure to the USB port by inserting the plug you compromised the already weak solder point. It works when charging because it charges over different contacts then when it synchronizes. It seems your first solder job was not sound.
PS. If the solder is dull (not shiny), it usually indicates a cold solder joint.
I had this problem with an 8125 i bought on friday for 20 bucks. they had broken the usb port. so i took one out of a razr phone and put on the 8125. at first it would only charge thru usb but not hook up on activesync. but then some how when i soldered it it worked and was able to update it and all that crap. The only thing is that it will not charge with a regular charger. it will only charge when connected to a computer. but hey atleast it works now.
Yes, I was re-soldered the USB port. I have compared my workable and the un-workable one by electric-meter. They are same connecting status, but just not work! I can be charge but not synchronize . Is some IC or chips damaged?

which program do you use to over clock your 8125? can you post here or send to me? [email protected]
I use batterystatus. but the thing is is that some devices respond different to speeds. for example my MDA can only be overclocked to 286. anything higher it freezes up. On my 8125 i can overclock it to 299 with no problem at all. So its trial and error. try it out and see what you can get.
Has anyone else noticed that the USB data cables that HTC gives out are terrible? My Niki is my second HTC phone and both cables that I've had have had problems with data transfer.
The first one is flaky and works sometimes. The other one never works except for charging.
I am going to buy a new cable but don't want to get one from HTC because they suck. Anyone suggest a good one?
Also, do I get a 4 pin or 5 pin data cable?
it's a normal usb cable. any USB cable will work .........

Quite so; for data purposes, USB is USB, you don't gain anything from spending extra $$ for a fancier cable.
Although I will admit that the USB slot on the Niki does seem to be "sensitive" - the charger for my bluetooth headphones can charge the Niki, but needs way too much of a shove to get it seated correctly.
i had the same problem with the cable shipped with the device from htc - can only charge up the device but 50% failure rate for establishing activesync connections. i simply brought out the one came with my last motorola handset and it works very nice.
Weird, I actually got a decent quality and quite a thick USB cable with mine...?
me too!! no problem with my usb from htc and even if there was i've got so many of the bloody things from cameras, sat nav and hdd cases that i wouldn't be bothered anyway .Only thing that bugs me is that i have to buy a usb to 3.5mm adapter so that i can use decent headphones cos the supplied ones are rubbish....Oh and the sound level sucks through the speaker( stereo would've been nice).....Oh and the vibrate is rubbish, sometimes i don't even know it's going off and the girlfriends not impressed either....Oh and where's the camera flash...Oh and why do i always find there's apps running that i never even touched......Oh and why is the access time so slow to my minute 2gb storage card, i already filled it with tunes and i have to wait for ages for it get accessed(should i have formatted it first?).....all of that aside i love this phone and wouldn't swap it for anything....well maybe another one with better spec but other than that i wouldn't....................
I've got a tip, if any of you have PS3's (Playstation 3) then you can use the same cable that you use to charge your PS3 wireless controller to connect your HTC Touch Dual/Nike to your PC/laptop.
hi
i lost my USB for PC cable for jabra bt 8010.
please help me, show me what cable i can buy to replace it,
it seems that it can use some other cable to replace.
could you help me
so thanks
could i use the USB for PC cable for BT330/BT500/BT800/JX10/BT 8040 for BT8010.
or could i use universal usb cable which has the same size for this one?
because I tried to find out cable but failed, no one sells that.
please help me to answer this question.
thanks so much
hi, just like you i also need usb cable for my 8010. ive googled high & low but to no avaiL? especially as im in the Philippines . . maybe by this time you have new info? pls help & thanks
Its just a usb-to-micro-usb cable.
thanks, but the micro usb's available on ebay are for motorola & looking at the pics -> - > they look different . .
Micro usb is micro usb. Its a standard.
usb may be a standard, but ...
... apparently the cable ends are not. I've have three different Jabra headsets in the past several years, all of which used a usb charging cable and none of the usb cable ends on the headset side were compatible with each other. I made the mistake of ordering off ebay and the cables I received did not fit my 8010. My advice: Don't buy a usb cable unless the seller can confirm that the cable works with your particular headset.
@kihoalu
thanks very much. if you get wind of a supplier, pls post. im sure there are others who also need this cable
I wish I knew why yours are all different, my 8010 came with a standard micro-USB port. The charger and the computer sync cable are quite normal.
Hi,
i can how update ROM and Windows Mobile but my problem is wrong connector on my phone. I testing so many cable and OS but never sync. My friend say: You need new connector.
I don't know. I find solutions without usb cable.
goto www.accessorygeeks.com and order the ORIGINAL HTC USB to mini USB DATA SYNC cable....
the problem is that there are mini usb cables out there but they only charge not transfer data... they look exactly the same... but the data transfer cable has one more wire inside for transerring data so it can work with ur ACTIVE SYNC...
It happened to me for over a year til someone told me...sheesh..now I was able to update my MDA and even root it
Good luck

I have successfully been using a USB cable that came with an external hard drive.
Never had a problem using it for data, reflashing, etc.

It's a standard Micro USB-B cable, you can use any standard compliant cable unless you're in for the *htc* bling. I use a blackberry USB cable for my HD2 and it works just as well as the one which came in the box with the phone.
