This may be a stupid question, but since the HTC Touch Pro and X1 are very simular. Is it possible to install a non-altered HTC touch pro Rom on the X1?

absolulty not!
it needs the drivers of the x1
otherwise it will not work
it will think it has a smaller screen
it will think it has a different keybord..
ah well it will not think at all. because it will not work at all..
installing a non costumised rom for the x1 will brick ur phone. so be my guest
someone just asked about blackstone/HTC HD below...
even say it did run...
unless you modify it... you'll be missing the optical joystick/illumination etc software

hi guys, im getting a brand new X1 today, and i need some sugestions i have been looking the forums and i have some questions:
i used and iphone for 2 years(i have xperience unlocking and jailbreaking the iphone), then an e71 and a blackberry 8310. this is my first winmo device and im clueless ( i saw a hardslp video).
- manila and tf3d is the same thing?
- what is exactly a hardslp? i understand that before flashing it i need to do that first.
- in order to have TF3D i need to do a full flash? or is just an addon?
- i have seen the winmo 6.5 roms should i upgrade?
- i need pptp suport,RDP client, navite Voip and internet tethering, all this solutions are included?

Don't get the X1... the X2 and the HTC Touch Pro2 is out.... what are you smoking?

You can get the Touch Pro 2 in Mercado Libre.. I'm from Mexico, and if you can live without D-Pad... Touch Pro 2 is the one for you. (that's the one I will replace my X1 with.. but I love the D-Pad Functionality)
Get the X1, it's a great phone.
And has hardware controls, TP 2 doesn't and it sucks.
As for your questions, what I know:
To have WM 6.5 you need to use custom ROM.
Mind it's unofficial so you know - there can be some bugs and things
nobody knows about...
TF3d is probably an add on.
Me personally - I tried it and for me it's more of a gimmick,
not really functional.
I prefer SE panels.....
But it's personal.
TP2 sucks. TF3D is ugly as hell. WinMo 6.5 is buggy and unofficial.
Get the X1. Install the official R3A ROM, if you are not happy, you can always try a custom ROM. After you are happy with that, you can start hunting for apps.
Don't forget - iPhail is a feature phone at best, but the X1 is a pocket computer.
For the first three question you should read the info in the ROM section of the forum. You have to do some reading and understand it all, before trying to flash. Second hand knowlwdge is as bas as no knowledge.
You can get EVERYTHING you might need with apps, if it is not supported from the box.

It's a simple question, i've seen some panels of the X2 and they are really impressive... i just wanted to know if X1 users will be available to get or download those x2 panels.

a more imprortant question is if they care enough to bother with. most of the rom cookers didnt bother with the first panels. and im sure it will be ported

6.5 update dude!!!!
At the very least it seems that the X2 ROM will be flashable on the X1. The hardware is almost identical, so it should be an easy transition. Additionally, I imagine that many of the panels available on the X2 will work as is on a non-6.5 X1. The only ones that wouldn't are those that are making some 6.5-specific system calls.

i was in the oficial SE website, and dont know how to update to windows mobile 6.5
is there any way?
i mean OFFICIAL way, and not a cooked ROM, because i dont like them (some bugs etc.)
i'd like to have this winmo 6.5 official, it looks that it goes at more speed then winmo 6.1 but i want an official one !

And I doubt it will be. After all, there is X2 people should by to have WM6.5 officialy. As for the panels, if it's up to SE to decide - the panels won't be available to X1 (officialy). I hope that the guys in xda will have them ripped of the X2 )

its not official until SE releases it. maybe SE is palying arrounf with the 6.5 update but that doesnt mean they goign to release it.
OT: im pretty sure they will work on the X1 too. resolution is the same, CPU is the same ... basicly everything is the same except the camera and the accelerometer.

i agree just because there is a beta leak 6.5 rom does not mean it will be released as we all found out with the r3 panel manager and growing panel etc.
the only thing that may not work panel wise is the tile panel as it may be using good x2 drivers which offically the x1 will probably not get if it does not get the r4 update (i hope it does).
many unofficial roms for htc devices comes from leaked
"official" test roms so it could very well be that se will never release wm6.5 for x1

I have no doubt SE won`t support: SE is arrogant regarding customers with predecessor-models. It`s going to be like the P-series: upgade (BUY!) the sucessor or you won`t get the candy!
I agree .. all that new panel manager and panels, and camera .. all seems now to be intended for X2. So IMHO we already have some X2 panels on X1.
c'mon guys, look at the forum you're on right now. i gaurantee someone here will port all the x2 panels for the x1.

will it be possible to bring the X2 GUI ( very cool animated , beautiful , check out in videos on youtube if didnt watch yet) on the X1??
it looks so beautiful kind of 3d animation, should be workin on x1 doesnt it ?
as far as i know its the same processor , the same hardware.... another point to make it work on x1

Might not work mate. X2 is not HTC anymore as far as i know ...... but i might be wrong.
I pray that SE will make an WM 6.5 upgrade for the X1, and i will not need a ported rom from x2. Now i'm using a custom wm 6.5 rom and is fine. Hope to see that official rom.

That was already announced, itje posted it on HTC-Pedia and probably others did here.
Btw, there are people cooking on the X2 rom as we speak

same processor and nearly same hardware therfore same encoding of files.
its going to work for sure ^^
CityDay panel works so we just have to wait for the other stuff...

It would be awesome if someone cooked it like the UnOff rom, 100% pure xperia stuff... unlike some roms with some weird startup screen and a completely messed up start menu with 999 items for which I've to scroll 10 times. Not complaining, but I'm a Lead Developer so I find some things could be improved using common sense. Too bad I haven't enough time to get into mobile stuff like cooking roms. May be one day I will, but for now thanks to spikegotti for giving me what I've been wanting

Totally agree with the 100% (or ~100%) clean ROM. So it would be great for every ROM release to have 2 version, one totally clean and one personalized so that users can decide according to their need.

wm 6.5 is now available but htc won't supply it for touch diamond phone.
now i have a question, @ the rom section there are many wm6.5 rom files, but i am a newbie and dont know which one is the best?
is anyone familiar about that roms? is there a rom with the final 6.5?
and which one is clean? some guys are changing everything... i just want an original touch flo 3D (newest version) and wm 6.5?

I'm afraid no one can tell you which is best because everyone has different tastes. All you can do is try them and see which suits your needs.
None of the 6.5 ROM's are completely bug-free. They are improving, and the ROM cookers are doing a good job making them work, but as they're not designed specifically for the Diamond, bugs are bound to exist however small.
If you can live with a bug or two, go ahead and try some, but don't expect perfection. I know it's a bind, but you really have to read through the posts to find out what users of the various ROM's are experiencing.
I've tried all the 6.5's, some better than others, but as I would like one to be how you would by it new, they all seem to disappoint somewhat. I'm gonna wait and buy a new device with 6.5 pre-installed

How do you know that htc will not supply it for diamond? That is a bit of disappointment for me because i was waiting for some realase xD
