Hi all, searched around and couldn't find the answer to my question. I just installed a Molski.Biz ROM, and I'm pretty sure it remapped the voice dial button to Task Manager. I want to change the Camera button to Task Manager so that I can keep the Voice Dial button as MS Voice Command.
How can I map the Task Manager to the Camera Button?
hey halfsoul did all the custom stuff install for you?
um go into Settings and Buttons
Not an option
It seems like everything installed. In the buttons menu, Task Manager isn't an option. "Task" is the closest thing, but that's not the right one.
Do I need to re-execute a ExtROM cab? Is there a registry entry I can change behind-the-scenes?
As a former Tytn/8525 user, I enjoyed the one button access to the Comm Manager. I used it all the time to limit my power costly modes.
So I installed Spb's Pocket Plus for the Button assignment capabilities. But the default Comm Manager page does not show up as an application when I go to assign the buttons. Several of the 6 Button .cabs on the Kaiser .cab page DO show up.
So my problem is, I wan't to use duttythroy's 10 button black 3g comm manager .cab, which by far is the best and the WiFi switch works, but it also does not show up as an assignable application for a button.
What can be done to accomplish this?
Thanks for any suggestions!

by default, the AT&T rom hid the comm manager from the start menu. You need to add the application's shortcut to the startmenu before you can assign the button. Go into the windows directory and find commmanager.exe and make a shortcut (on your start menu/programs) to this app. Then you can map the app to a button.
if you are using a non-default comm manager, then exe is probably named commmanagerlink.exe
Hi, i'm deciding what to do with my task manager. (on stock WM6.1 HTC H3G Aus Rom)
At present im simply using the HTC Task Manager 1.51 (build 33547) but am aware that there is 2.1 around.
Currently i have to toggle back to the today screen to switch applications and i have it set to click X to close the application. (i dont know whether or not apps use more resources if they are left open and not set to run in the background, any ideas?)
I want to know what others are using or their thoughts/experiences on these other Task managers. gleaned from Vibranze post here

Guys,
For summary, I've created the list of plugins/task manager that can effectively close the applications.

HTC seems to improve ONLY the look and feel of their task manager from version to version so upgrading to a new version of HTC task manager will give you a different, possibly improved, look and feel. also, if you intend to use manila (2d or 3d), you'll need to use a newer version of HTC task manager.
finally, search for "Task Facade" developed right here on xda by gps-lover. its an EXCELLENT task manager that i suggest you map to the PTT button...makes "visual" task switching a breeze!
TaskFascade looks interesting. Does it disable the HTC Taskmanager?
I use WK Task and swear by it. It creates a PC type program manager and launcher on your phone. Has many more features and is very customizable.

nope! thats the beauty of it...you get to keep HTC's task manager (with its tap "x" to kill or tap and hold "x" to kill functionality as well as its presence in the home screen) while task facade can be invoked just by pressing the hot key you've assigned to it (i use the short press of the PTT button)
not 100% sure but i think task facade can work with ANY task manager that sits in the home screen (such task managers usually take over the "x" button functionality)
I use QuickMenu+DotFred's TaskMgr.exe, check this post for the way to associate them.
From QuickMenu, you got a task switcher, communication manager, commandline utility, RAM releaser, a lot of useful shortcuts and a real time indicator of battery + available RAM. And it is a very lite tool uses around 130kb RAM on running.
As to DotFred's Taskmanager:

A lot of long time member and cooks have DotFred's Taskamanager in the toolkit.
Some Taskmanagers do not show ALL running programs.
Dot Fred's does more, shows Processes that can be enalbed and disabled at Start or stop them actively. Has a registry editor, Notification editor, can parse Provisioning xml files and even register DLL files. It's a Tweakers dream.

I also use VJOkbutt, I set the function of 'X' button to 'short press to minimize & long press to close'. I use HButton to map the Ok button work in this way: just press = minimize (the ok/close function in hbutton actually = short press 'X'), press & hold half second = close (VJOkButt), hold another half second = end others (brought by QuickMenu), another more half second = end all (from QM), and another half second = soft reset (by QM or TaskMgr), and then the last function = Today (by QM or HButton).
To switch tasks, just using QM.

Via Settings\Buttons and if you want to be able to map even more check this program AE Button Plus
For Task Manager i used Advanced Task Manager 0.7 and have it happed with AE Button Plus
I am using FDCsoft Task Manager v3.1 I think it is a good TM
thanks for this great post dude.
directly to my bookmarks.
I find it annoying having to press OK all the time then going to task manager (which is laggy and have to wait for it to load up the running pprograms).. any light on this?
You can use a third party task manager like Showcase (free), and assign it to a soft key.
Also, AEButtons Plus has an Alt+Tab function that is assignable to many different keys. It also has a Switch to next app function.
I'm sure there are many others.
Showcase, Taskfacade, and Alt-Tab, any of which could be mapped to one of the little silver keys.
Hi! I would like to map HTC task manager to hw button (so it will show running tasks like this: http://techtreak.com/img/20.feb09/htc_task_manager.jpg ) but I don't know which file to execute. Any hints? Thanks a million!
You can't assign it using the Buttons app in settings?
Yes and just select 'Task List (TaskManager)' in settings> buttons
I'm using it for the spb mobile shell task manager by selecting '[Task Mgr]' and it works great
