I have been trying to make custome ringtones for my kaiser, I need to know how to set them exactly, I have used Itunes to makes custome tones then I made sure they were mp3's and then added to my phone but they don't work please help!!
Make sure they are mp3's since default itunes encoding is not mp3 but you can use itunes its self to make a mp3 copy of you music. Also their is the diamond mp3 trimmer you can download and install on your kaiser and it is easy to use and best of all free =). Here is the cab and i don't know who extracted this cab but all credit goes to them so enjoy.

Is it possilbe to use MP3 Files as Ringtones for the Qtek9090/MDAIII? And if it is possible, please let me know how
Thx Rex
No but you can use WMA which are better anyway. Just download the WMA covertor free from MS windows Media Player down load page to convert them
Yes you can, Its old news
Yes it is possible, as long as your using a version with windows media player 10. You need to copy whatever mp3s you want to use to the \windows\rings folder. Alternatively if your using an updated version of Photo Contacts then you can leave the mp3s where they are an assign users specific mp3 ringtones
Yes you can just put this file in your PDA and instal it.

Thanks! Works with my XDA IIs!
If you install NetFront3, you have mp3 tones in call.
got win med 10, installed the cab, copied the mp3s to the rings forlder and although I can see them, I don't hear them. weird
sam-man - I installed that, and did a soft reset. I get mp3 files listed now, but when I attempt to play 'em, I just get "beep" every 4 seconds or so. Any tips?
dude just get yourself a free Windows Media Encoder from MS. It takes seconds to convert them and if you pick the PPC profile it will make them nice and lound as well.
thks mate, seacrhing for it for quite long time.

Enjoy.
Thanks for that
Tks that link for the mp3 converter works like a charm!
pleasure is all mine
I use an MP3 for a ring tone that works just fine. Inspalling Morph PLayer or PocketMusic buggers up playback of MP3s as ringtones - I think it's an association problem. Does anyone have a workaround as I hate the default Media player...
I had the very same problem!
I solved it by converting all my ringtones to .wma format then I unchecked that file type within the music player. I don't use .wma for my music so this wasn't a problem. MP3 serves me quite well as I download that file type from emusic.com direct to my Alpine.
Hope this was of help
Matt
I don't use WMA either Matt - I shall try your cunning plan today. BTW, anyone have a player recommendation while I'm at it
Does anyone know a way to "block" folders from being scanned (added to the library)?
The reason for this question is that I have my music in \My Documents\My Music & my ringtones in the folder \My Documents\My Ringtones
The problem is that wmplayer also adds (scans) the "My Ringtones"-folder and I was hoping someone could give me a HowTo to block it from being scanned....
It is really a pain-in-the-*** when playing "all music" as it also plays all the ringtones......
Thanks
as far as know you cannot 'block' files or folders from being added, but the best way i find to get round it is to make a playlist in windows media player on ur computer of the music you want, then sync the playlist to ur phone, not the individual music, then the playlist will show up in media player on your phone and play that, as the playlist will only contain the music you want and not other files that have been added to the library by media player,
hope this helps!
Adam
That's what I have done myself, but sometimes I get music, when at a friend or something, and want that to be played but it is not a two-step-way to add to playlist on the phone itself
FYI: In CorePlayer they do it in some other way (much better ) There you can set the folders you want to be scanned.....
Thanks anyway
thats ok, i tried!
the other thing i would have said would be to use the TD3D music player! as you can edit the playlists from the phone itself, then you could add files at a friends house, then add them to the playlist on the phone.
Adam
where can i download a app, that set the wav. file as a ringtone or messages alert?? can you give me some links. thanks in advance..
are you dislike mp3 ? )
Use ur laptop to send the .wav file to ur X1 through bluetooth. And then u can see the wav file in the ringtone list
making the wav into mp3 would dec it's size by a factor 11 though
The best software to encode between mp3 and .wav is free CDEx.
I use it all the time in profi usage.
With 320kbps mp3 you get perfect quality without any loss for a ringtone.
well for ring tones I would advise mono and a pretty low Kb/sec as the speaker in most devices don't really do high quality audio much justice
Put it in either the My Documents folder on your device or in Storage Card\My Documents and it'll show up in the ringtone list.
Works for mp3, wma, wav, mid etc

Nope. It works in My Documents as well, even on a card. Try it!
Just a heads up for anyone else new to WP7. You can add custom ringtones to your HD2 WP7 using Chevron Custom Ringtone Manager.
Your phone has to be Chevron unlocked for this to work. Also, your mp3s need to be converted to WMA 48KHz format. This can be done easily with Microsoft Expression Encoder 4.
I've shown here how to convert using this tool:
Once converted, you'll find the WMA file in C:\Users\xxx\Documents\Expression\Expression Encoder\Output. Now run the Chevron Ringtone manager, browse to your WMA file, and click Build Ringtone XAP.
Then install the XAP the same way as you do with any other. I recommend Tom XAP Installer.
For alarms and alerts, there's an two extra steps involved. You must rename your WMA file to Alert-01.WMA (or which ever one you want to replace). Note your original one will be overwritten.
Once you have copied it to your phone, you need to install TouchExplorer. use this to move your Alert-01.WMA file from My Documents/My Ringtones into /Windows.
------------------------------------------------
An alternative is to sync your music with Zune, and then use TouchExplorer to copy one of your MP3s from My Documents/Zune/Content/xxx folder and put it into your My Ringtones folder. This works too
I've tested both methods and they both work great.
If you have any problems with it, just ask and I'll try to help.
Its also possible to copy mp3 files to My ringtones folder, I checked it by copying a random mp3 file from zune folder =)
I wonder if you can add extra alert or alarm files by just using higher numbers instead replacing the files? Didnt try this yet because it takes ages to load the windows folder...
Why the hell did MS use the folder to store all the files without any sub folders =S
Does the mp3 work as a ringtone? I didn't think this worked.
yep using it without a problem =)

It's tricky if you dont know where to look.
Using Touch Epxplorer, browse to My Documents > Zune > Content > 0100
The files will have different filenames. Just find the one you want as a ringtone by playing it (double tapping it). THen rename it and copy it to the My Ringtones folder

Thanks for the fast reply
That is the problem, all the files is numbered with no original names.
Is there a way to go around this ?

Unfortunately not...that's just the way that Zune transfers files when you sync...it does this with all files.

I had this problem too.
You can just delete the ringtone from the ringtone folder using Touchxplorer. (My Documents\My Ringtones)
When using Microsoft Expression Encoder 4, do not select WMA Professional. I did this in error and although the ringtones sounded good on the computer, the phone played them horribly.
Select WMA, then 48kHz.
If you select WMA and 48kHz is not an option, convert to WMA Professional at 48kHz, then import the new file and convert to WMA at 48kHz. Worked like a charm for me!
YES YOU CAN USE MP3 FILES AS RINGTONES BUT IF YOU WANT TO ADD ALERTS OR ALARMS YOU HAVE TO CONVERT THESE TO WMA FILES & RENAME THEM TO Alert-01 or alarm-01 in windows folder.

There's no need for the CAPS. And I also already explained this in the first post.
Anyone know where alerts are found (ie SMS/email alerts) would be good to change these too, I assume it would work using the same method (TouchXplorer)
I did the alternative method of syncing with ZUNE and did exactly what was said on the post and i was able to do it BUT when i set it for my ringtone it does not want to play.? I tried several songs from ZUNE(All i can listen to) and have the same problem. I can hear them before i do the method but after that there is no sound when i select it for my ringtone. I do have everything installed as the post says. Is there anything I'm doing wrong?? Any help please!!!
