Help! Diamond slow and faulty (...about to throw it away!!) - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I'm having big trouble with my Diamond: some time ago it started to be slower (even after many soft resets) and then some appls started fail: I wasn't able to sync via USB any more and Opera wouldn't start.
I had a US Diamond originally unlocked, with stock rom.
After unsuccessfully trying with a hard reset, I installed HardSPL and flashed the new HTC stock rom:
Diamond_HTC_SPA 2.03.412.2
Radio 1.09.25.23
Now things are much worse!!! I'm still having the same problems, but now battery life was reduced to less than 6hs in stand by mode and it gets hot! I have to go everywhere with a charger...
Activesync only connects once just after flashing. But after the first sync (at least I got all my contacts) it always says it couldn't connect or find the device.
The new Opera 9.5 also worked only once or twice. Even after a soft reset the application doesn´t completly start, it never gets past the "loading.." image (and it never showed up in the standar task manager).
I tried to install FdcSoft TaskMgr 3.1 to see if any process was consuming the CPU, but this application always hangs just after launching with the progress bar at a third.
Any help would be much appretiated.

i think you have a faulty device.. because you're saying it stays hot even after hard resets in standby?

Serious TouchFlo3D problems.

Hi. I am having some pretty serious issues with the Touchflo3D interface, mainly that it randomly decides not to start after a soft reset. This happens irregeradless of what rom i have flashed and what software i have installed. It always happens after i softreset the device a couple of times. I have tried to uncheck it in the Today screen, reset the device and and then check it again, wait around 20 minuter and randomly it works, but for the most time it doesn´t work.
Usuallly the today screen itself doesn´t even show up, just the last used application which can´t be used as it´s just the screen. The startmenu and the other functions work however.
Im getting pretty tired of hard resetting the device 2 times per day, makes it pretty useless.

Problem: Unresponsive, error on windows customisation, frequent reflashing required

I've been lurking on these forums since I got my diamond, about 5 months ago, and i would like to say, I would have sold my diamond about 2 weeks after buying it if it wasn't for all the knowledge and tools available here. Thank you.
Now, I've been flashing my phone every so often, with ROMs such as Swtos, Panosha, Duttys, AZTOR, Wildberry, Dia Diut, and most recently (wherein the problem lies), NATALY 2.1, Cloudy 1.0 and udK Syrius R3.
Now with these latest three roms (2.03?), i started to encounter a similar problem over and over again, without exception. If I try to launch a program while another is using the CPU, the phone will begin to crash. First it will become unresponsive, then programs will no longer open, and eventually, the only thing that can be done is a soft reset.
For example, the alarm will activate (klaxon), i'll flip the phone, and hit off. Now I know the problem has begun because though the phone has returned to the home screen, the title bar may still show the image from the alarm. Now the phone will work like its cpu is being heavily engaged and I can never reach task manager to see what it is. The hard volume keys frequently cause the phone to begin behaving in this manner. Soft reset only solution again. TF3D still animates, but programs will never appear on the screen if you try to launch them.
Same sort of effect on Cloudy's and udK's, except after the soft reset, the phone would begin to reinstall the rom again, as if some sort critical error occurred.
I have a DIAM130, and i've heard that to install 2.03 base ROMS (such as NATALY2.1 and Cloudy, is that correct?) you should first install a 2.03 SPL and a 2.03 stock ROM, then upgrade the SPL, then the ROM.
The latest SPL i've seen here is 1.93, and installing this increased the stability of these ROMs from 30 minutes to about 1-2 days, but the same problem occurs.
(also, haven't been able to find a stock 2.03 ROM on here... am I blind/illiterate?)
Latest addition to this problem (first occurred a few minutes ago after the phone began reflashing itself again after the aforementioned problem): Windows began the usual first-time boot customization procedure, and is now giving me an error: Run FILEOP \Windows\Menu_FILEOP_Operator.txt failed.
Is there some sort of corruption or hardware failure going on?
Well, thanks in advance
EDIT: Problem solved by reflashing stock SPL and 2.03 ROM, then flashing what I wanted. The impression i get from the pros here is that I flashed a ROM which wrote to some memory location that shouldn't have been written to.

Touch Flo not Loading

I've had my Sprint Touch Diamond pretty much as soon as they came out so in a couple of months it will be 1 year old. I've never really had that many issues until now.....
In the past month I have had to reset (ie return phone back to how it was when originally delivered) my phone 4 times !! And in every instance it's been because Touch Flo refuses to load.....
At first I thought it was because I was installing loads of [email protected] little applications etc, but I think it might be down to Microsoft my phone beta...... Although the program has helped me retrieve pretty much everything I needed to retrieve after each reset, it doesn't take long before it fails to sync and everything seems to go bad again.
Last night I tried un-installing the myphone beta app, and due to how slow everything runs when touch flo refuses to load I had to leave it over night...... By the time i got up in the morning it was un-installed and Touch Flo was running....
I re-booted my phone mid-morning today, and although Touch flo took around 5mins to load it did at least load, albeit with the following message...
cannot load \windows\myphoneruntime.exe which suggests it didn't fully install properly..... Anyway I decided to install a registry editor and see if i could find any rogue entries but I couldn't use the reg editor like i would on Windows XP for instance and so drew a blank.
To try and un-install my phone beta properly, I re-installed it and synced which went without a hitch. Then I rebooted my phone and again Touch Flo does not run.... So I'm almost certain something in this My Phone beta is a problem which is probably why its still in beta....
Just wondered if anyone else had similar problems / Issue's? And also if anyone can give me advice regarding the reg editor......
Thanks in advance....
Never had that problem with the TouchFlo 3D. although it does seem to be a bit slow at times. Have you tried just...blowing your phone, and reloading the stock sprint ROM? maybe just starting over fresh?
Re-instating the stock Sprint ROM is what I've had to do 4 times this month. Not 100% sure why I keep getting the issue back, but it does seem to be Microsft myphone Beta that is a constant link. Maybe I need to reset device 1 last time and manually re-instate contacts etc etc etc
It’s a simple calendar plugin that adds a tab to the TouchFlo 3D interface.
This is not a Cab Installation , so you will have to use transfer the files to your device via Active Sync / Mobile Device Center or using a File Explorer.

now load touch flo
same problem
I had a similar experience a few days ago. It seems I tried to sync via My Phone beta and then canceled it midway. After a few soft resets and wondering what was going on, I let My Phone sync again completely. After that everything was back up to speed but I uninstalled the beta ASAP. I was pretty happy with it but this is aggravating.
Same problem here!
In addition to this, The antenna shows no service (although service is active and I can make calls) and the phone's GUI is very slow to react to any action.
I have an old Juicy ROM (from last Fall) which I liked very much for its stability. I did install and run the beta application of geocaching.com for windows mobile and now TouchFlo won't start anymore no matter what I do to restart my phone.
I will have to back up everything and reinstall a new ROM hoping that this will fix the problem.
If anyone has an idea on how to fix this, let us know
[update]
The phone could not connect to ActiveSync and thus I was unable to flash a new ROM.
In order to resolve the issue, I cleared the storage (but left the internal storage intact) and rebooted. The phone was just fine after this, but I took the opportunity to install the latest Mighty ROM.
cheers.
Having the same problem with mine.... I had the original Sprint ROM on it when it started happening.
I initially tried a clear/erase everything from the OS (hard reset?) and that didn't help.
I tried updating it with the latest official ROM from Sprint/HTC. No dice.
Funny thing is if I wait like 12+ hours after turning it on, sometimes Touch Flo finally loads.
Other issues ive noticed while its acting like this is, opera crashes on load, active sync connects but wont sync contacts, and the battery life seems about half of what it normally is.
Short of the story is I am having Sprint send me a replacement.
I had the same problem and solved it by flashing mightyrom couldn't connect to activesync either so i had to hold power down volume and reset switch and do the flash from that coloured screen. i think it has something to do with a memory flaw and wipeing everything out solves it.

SOD caused by Manilla (97% CPU)

Hello everyone,
Yesterday I installed the official upgrade from HTC for my Diamond 2. Besides my personal settings, I installed a task manager from this site. Now, my phone has continiously 'Sleeps of death'. Sometimes he wakes up after 5 minutes or more. I opened the taskmanager and I took a look to the processes and everything was ok, except Manilla, which had a CPU usage of 97%.
I have a WWE edition phone.
Can someone help me with this? I searched for 'Sleep of death', but those issues are from july 2009 and at that time there was no upgrade yet.
EDIT: I deïnstalled the Task manager already .
I have restarted the device once again and now I looked from the beginning to the processes. It seems that first services.exe uses a CPU from 90% and higher and after a few minutes, this decreases and then manilla goes to CPU usages of 95% and higher.
First question will be:
Did you hard reset after you flashed your new ROM?
O, I though that flashing a new ROM goes hand in hand with a hard reset. I didn't. Why is it necessary?
Reminence of the old ROM will remain as the RUU flash doesn't completely overwrite 100% of the blocks. A hard reset will almost always resolve any issues.
Issue still not solved
Ok,
I've just executed a hard reset. The problem is still there. After the first soft reset, required for some adjustements, he had again a SOD.
What is wrong?
I assume you are not HSPL'd as you are installing stock upgrades, correct?
Did you download the upgrade from HTC's site using your S/N?
There are a few things you can try.
You can reflash the upgrade. Always HR after.
You can download MTTY and perform a "task 29" which will wipe your flash drive and provide a clean platform to flash to.
or, reflash to your stock ROM, then try to reflash the upgrade.
Also, search on SOD as there may be other fixes that I am not aware of.
The typical cause is driver incompatability.
I always install the official upgrades after downloading them from the official HTC site with my serial number.
I'll try your method and after that I'm going to report it here if it was helpfull.
Thank you!
Possible solution
I just read the topic about the problems with the HTC sms application. Well, I discovered, that this app also causes my problems, becaus it loads all smses all at once, every time I have to use it. It just seems that this HTC app isn't made for such a large numbers of messages.
The solution can be found in this topic, I think: 631449
I'll try this...
EDIT:
Ok, I found the solution! It was indeed the HTC messaging app what caused my problem! I installed the 'Zenyee Disable HTC Messaging 1.2' application and now my smses at loaded within seconds! I hope that HTC will come with an update for this app soon. It was very nice, but I can't handle a 1000 messages.
My mum had 3k+ smses in her TD2, and was experiencing lag.
I upgraded the ROM to stock WM 6.5 2.53.707.4 (Manila 2.5.20113030.0), (no other programs installed)
and then restored the trimmed-down 1k+ smses via MyPhone
Sense was extremely sluggish. The phone started having the Sleep of Death - soft reset and power on, power off after 5 seconds, power on for 1 second, power off for 10 seconds - power on - SOD!
The problem was solved by turning off Sense (from Today), and disabled the HTC Messaging with "Disabling HTC Messaging in manila 2.5" by zenkinz. The cab didn't work, but edited the registry manually and is now running the SMS Patch - it works fine now. Snappy on and off, runs programs smoothly.
I think that Sense 2.5 was never meant to handle thousands of SMSes.

Please help, Touchflo keeps failing

Guys i have the verizon version (Htc Touch Diamond). Stock rom ( i keep having to reset the device weekly).
Every time i plug it into charge in my xp pro sp3 machine, via the usb port, touchflo stop working and i have to reset the phone (soft restart doesnt work, taking the battery out doesnt work only the hard reset to stock works). Causing me to lose my contacts.
Sometimes the phone crashes by itself and i have to reset it to stock.
I dont have active synch installed on the pc, no antivirus software running (and i have no virus either). I tried it with windows 7, just plugging it into the usb port to charge and it did the same thing. Touchflo stopped working.
Any suggestions I have had this phone less than a year, bought it off the shelf with no contract and i want to smash it to dust.
Thank you friends for reading and for the nice people who may have some suggestions to offer.
Is there perhaps even a way to reinstall touchflo without having to reset the device to stock every time, losing my contacts?
Howdy, I've had that issue with fouchflo 3d myself when it would start hanging. Use the start menu to go into your settings - personal - home/today - hit the items tab - uncheck touchflo in the box - ok - go back to home screen and wait a minute for it to clear out.
Repeat the process to re-enable and it will force touchflo to reload. It's a a bug with some of the older versions. I'd suggest flashing a newer rom onto your phone (I'm using moonscapex's rom and it works great. Also, it has the newest htc sense ui which is leaps and bounds better than touchflo and isn't prone to freezing.
