Running the latest HTC upgrade will do it for you in one swoop.

Having tried that 3.34 WWE Hong Kong HTC ROM (and decided to go back to WM 6.0 for better reliability and GPS performance), I recall it came with a 1.70.xx.xx series radio so if you want the newer radio with the current ROM a very straightforward way would be to just download the latest ROM for your device from HTCs website (or here at XDA) and following the comprehensive instructions on their website, run the ROM upgrade. It'll reflash the same ROM again but put on the newer radio (which is better than the one you referred to in my experience).
If you've read the links referred to, it's actually pretty straightforward if you follow things carefully using those measures (I printed out the procedure) and once you've done it a few times, you'll wonder what all the fuss was about. Keep reading up (particularly all the Kaiser wiki) and the added knowledge you gain will improve your confidence about such matters. The HTC official upgrade is a simpler way to go in the meantime.

Greetings all. I am new here, but hopefully I will be able to contribute in some small way to the community. After reading about the wiki, ROM kitchen, and cooking, I have a few small questions that will help me jump into the waters and help out.
I have a new PDA2K on Cingular here in the U.S. that came with ROM 1.22.00 WWE Radio 1.06.00 and EXT ROM 1.22.162 WWE.
I would like to update to the most recent ROMs for the Radio, primary, and extended ROM and still retain the new version of KSE Truefax 2.09 and possibly other software that came as part of the package from I-mate.
When cooking a ROM: Is it possible to retain any of the software from your own ROM and aggregating it with the best radio ROM, make a unit that is truly updated in every way possible? If I took elements from the "i-mate_PDA2k_Arabic_13100_112_10600_SHIP" release that is on the FTP site and added the 1.08 or 1.10 radio ROM, would I have certain components that are in Arabic or is that concept misleading?
My point is: I think will I lose the software that came with the unit when I cook a ROM to update the unit and I would like to keep it as I paid for it in my purchase price and I would like to use components from other language ROMs but am concerned I will have components in my phone after the update that are in a language I cannot read.
Please guide me if you have a moment.

I had hoped that I had covered all of this is wiki, but it seems not.
your deivce has 3 parts
1) the os version and its language
2) the extneded rom
3) the radio
each of these can be updated one at a time or all together.
1) The os part is based on the windows version and its build, if you can find a versiont that works with our tools you can update that. In this case the 1.31 arabic in WWE is a good choice.
2) the Extneded rom is based around the applicatons that the porvider gives you as well as the provider customization. Here you can pick and what you want and the term that we use on this site is cooking.
You will need to flush your exteneded rom and cook a new one with what you feel you want (like applications) and you feel you need (as in porider customisation)
3) The radio is based on the type of device you have and in your case can be updated to 1.08.00 as we have yet to find a copy of the 1.10.00
So your issue of the fax software is solved in the cooking of the exteneded rom. allas the files have gone as some nice person has trashed 2 months of work and deleted them. however the 1.22 kitchen is again around so you can get what you need from there or from your device. copy them into your exteneded rom, edit the config.txt and perform a hard reset.
So to keep the stuff you have you need to save the cabs out of your extended rom, update the device (os and radio), flush the exteneded rom and cook your own rom (all covered in the kitchen).
You will do fine and if you have a problem just post it.
Answer
This is exactly the sort of definitive and succinct answer I needed. Your simple clarification has helped me and will no doubt help others. Thank you, again.

WHOAH!
Am I reading this correctly? So I can pretty much update to whatever ROM version and radio version I want, regardless of language? Anything I need to look out for in particular? I've got the upgrade bug now! Got my BT upgraded to 3900.
ROM 1.22.00 WWE
Radio 1.06.00
extROM 1.22.162 WWE.
How far can I go in an English version? Or does it matter so long as my windows version is English?
Thanks again!
Sam
Hi everybody.
First of all, thanks for this really nice forum.
I am a complete newbie in Pocket PC world. I am coming from Palm world. In fact, I was so much disapointed by palm that I decided to switch.
So, I have just purchased in London a second hand T-Mobile MDA III. I have unlock really easily with the program I found on this forum.
Now I want to upgrade the ROM because regarding the version of mine, it seems pretty old. Here is my version description :
ROM Version : 1.06.00 ENG
ROM date : 08/05/04
Radio Version : 1.00.00
Protocol Version : 1337.30
ExtROM version : 1.06.117 WWE
Model No. : PH20B
I have read a lot of information about this subject, but to be honest I am completly lost.
First I don't understand what is an extended rom ? I mean why there is two roms.
Secondly, what is the last version of the ROM I can use to upgrade my MDA III. I don't care that much about the T-Mobile configuration since I am using it in France. So anyway I will have to put another configuration for my carrier. So what ROM can I put and what is the process to do the upgrade. For the moment I don't want to upgrade to WM5 just new version of WM2003 SE. In fact, if at the same time I can get rid of the T-Mobile branding, it would be great, but it's my principal reason for upgrade.
Also, my last question is that sometimes after using my mda, it seems to run quite slow, specially display. Do you know what is the reason ? I am thinking it might be relating with the use of WM9.
Thanks a lot for your help guys.
Julien.
Hi
First of all: read all the wiki section for BA (BlueAngel)
It's quite well explained there.
Your roms are indeed old.
Go to the wiki section and download newest rom update.
( I think that I-mate's update has ROM 1.40.00WWE with Radio 1.12.00 and ExtROM 1.40.176WWE )
Upgrading is very simple, when you follow wiki.
ExtROM is a portion of ROM that contains installation files for provider-specific applications and some hotfices (CAB files). ExtROM can be edited by user (cooking) to personalize your device best.
At your point I suggest using extROM from this update.
Thanks a lot Robal.
I had to check some other post, because my current ROM was in ENG. So I use some trick to use WWE Rom.
But now it is working great.
Julien.
Its been a while since I've on here. And I'm looking to upgrade my Cingular 8125 yet again.
PART-I:
Ok the first thing I want to try is just upgrading my Radio Rom since I'm missing calls and voicemails with no notification. My current Radio Rom is 02.25.11 and I seriously need this upgraded so any suggestion to which rom to use. (Please give me a link for upgrading Radio Rom only)
PART-II:
Maybe its time for me to upgrade the full ROM which is right now 2.17.7.2 WWE with Ext Rom 2.25.11.102. Its been pretty good. Not the fastest but has been very stable for me. Any rom's I should upgrade to, maybe even the Crossbow?
flash the t-mobile one that everyone loves, for the radio 2.26, then flash another which has the ext rom you want
I don't like wm6, it's buggy, and some progs don't work fully such as sbp products
superrom is quickest for me
followed by molski's 2.3
check the stickies for lockiwiz to get the t-mob, google for the others/pirate bay etc
All I want to do is get my QTEK 9100 to work with my new Parrott MK6000 hands free kit so that I can stream music through my car speakers. Parrot have told me on their forum:
http://www.parrot.biz/forums/english/viewtopic.php?id=3759
to update to the latest ROM for my device. Is there an issue with audio streaming with the QTEK 9100? I think I read on one of these threads that there was, hence the reason I am trying so hard to update.
The device info for my QTEK is as follows:
ROM Version: 2.17.7.2
Rom date: 2/10/06
Radio Version: 02.07.10
Protocol Version: 413.1.03
ExtROM Version: 2.17.7.102
I have been reading this forum for ages now. I have unlocked my CID (even though the device is G4 and I now understand that that was not necessary) and I have tried to update to the ROM on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1172977&postcount=361
but have recieved an error 300 message.
Is that because that ROM is not compatiable with my PDA?
If that is the case, is it only the ROM's on this page
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wizard_Upgrades
that are compatiable with the respective phones and if that is the case then I must have the latest ROM and can not upgrade any further?
I would like to have the very latest ROM (just to be flash) and have therefore set my computer to retrieve the seed for Faria's latest ROM version on this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291806&page=85
is that going to work or am i wasting my time?
Any help would be really appreciated and I am sorry if I have missed something whilst scanning this forum.
there are a bunch of roms out there , seems like everyone has there own cooked version.
It is possible that your pda/phone doesnt like that rom version.
Try finding another rom image?
jeff
Can anyone recommend one that might possibly work? Its just that its difficult to tell from all the different ones out there. Also does the Rom Image have to be specific for my phone or will any do?

Hi All, I have had a search and can't find the answer to my question. I am about to flash my HTC Touch HD to Dutty's new 6.5 R8 ROM and I wanted to make sure I can go back to my default incase I either don't like it (which I doubt after reading everyones posts) or the phone has to go back for warrenty.
I have found some original ROM's on Dutty's site but the version numbers don't look like they match. mine are as follows
I am on Orange and in the UK
Operator Version: 34.119.1.611
ROM Version: 1.19.61.1 WWE
ROM Date: 11/25/08
Radio Version: 1.09.25.14
Protocol Version: 52.49a.25.26U
The closest one I found on Dutty's site is BlackStone_HKCSL_WWE_1.19.831.0_Radio_52.49a.25.26_1.09.25.14 or RUU_BlackStone_Orange_UK_1.14.405.3_Radio_52.49a.25.26_1.09.25.14
If I restored either of these would I still be ok on the warrenty front? or is there away that I can extract my currently installed ROM and then restore it if needed?
Any help would be greatly recieved.
Try http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone_Ship_exe
Brilliant Thanks. There is a closer match there but still nothing with a complete match. If I send it back can they tell from the serial number what versions should be on there? or is there a particular version that is more important than the others? i.e. the ROM version?
there is a release of a newer rom than yours on the htc site
so i guess that if you had that rom installed and your hd needed to go back under warranty then you should be fine as it can be considered an official update by the manufacturer
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=179&cat=2&dl_id=533
Thanks, I didn't realise that HTC released ROM's for download. Thanks for both of the replies. Much appreciated.
As long as you have an official HTC upgrade rom on your device you will be fine for warranty
