After recently syncing and disconnecting, I noticed my phone was prompting me to format my memory card in order to use it.
I've tried using the card in my computer card reader, and the same problem - all the data has disappeared!
Is this a card hardware problem or has anyone else experienced random erasing of their memory card?
Am I hoping a bit too much for there to be a solution to getting all my files back?
Frank.
Sorry bubba. I had the same issue with a 4gb sandisk and no joy. I tried everything to revive it I lost a lot of important memories due to that. Sorry to give bad News.

Performing WizBackup successfully, resulted in an un-readable mini-SD card!!!!

Got this A-data 2 GB card of the net for a good price, but I don't like throwing 60 bux out the window!!!!
The card worked perfectly fine until the programming steps where the instructions start writing data from the phone to the memory card, I noticed after that point the card did not show up under file explorer on the 8125.
The data wrote fine, the software continued on, and even copied the data from the card to my PC, but after that this card has not been readable.
I do not have a card reader for my PC.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
I have already attempted to use a tool on my 8125 to format the card (SpTaskManager) and it does not recognize the card either.
At this point I'm wondering if I can use a terminal service program over USB to fix the card. (seemingly the same way it was screwed up).
I sincerely appreciate any help or links, or resources into fixing this 2gb corn flake!
Thanks!!!
Well I ordered a card reader, and another 2gb card from NEW EGG this time.
I'll try the card reader instead, but I appreciate any other solutions or advice you guys have to offer.
Atleast this time if I have a card problem New Egg is usually good to deal with.
I don't think it is a hardware problem though, it's probably something wrong with the software on the card.
I don't know alot about mini sd cards, but I'd guess something similar to the MBR on a hard drive got erased.
Just an update, I also downloaded a trial version of pocketpc mechanic, and it doesn't see the card at all either.
UGG! Waiting for my other stuff from New Egg.
Same problem here...got the 2GB miniSD off ebay. It was new, or at least it looks like new packaging...but I can't get anything, SKTools, Storage Tools, card reader, camera, MDA to read the card.
Do I need to upgrade the ROM? Is 2GB too much for a miniSD?
I and many other people here have 2 gb cards so that is not the issue. What probably happened is that your card died. I had this happen to a Kingston card after only 2 weeks. They replaced it for free and even paid the shipping. There is really nothing else you can do once the card is dead. I learned the hard way to backup not just to the card but to the PC also.
TMO customer service says my ROM won't support more than 512MB. I'm still running the stock 1.2 that came with it.
Getting ready to try the ROM upgrade....hold your breath......
Hi XDA Gurus,
Recently when i was trying to install TomTom 5 on my O2 XDA IIi, suddenly my XDA stopped recognizing the external Memory Card. I tried with different memory card still it doesnt recognize. What could be the proble is it something to do with plugins? have i lost any plugins. Earlier i used to have Storage Card folder in my device but its no more exists. Please help me sorting this out. Do i need to format my external Memory Card.
Cheers,
Suresh
I had the same problem with storage cards and alpine. I noted that Kingston cards are easier to be recognized by alpine and Dane-elec are the hardest. Just try to remove and reinsert the card several times. It's anoying but works. after each reinsertios you can wait some time since the device lasts some time to recognize card.
no use
I have tried it so many times. so far trying to insert different memory cards. still it doesnt recognize any.
Have you tried soft resetting the device?
I had that problem and after soft resetting the card can be recognized again.
I use Transcend 2GB SD.
No use mate.
Thanks for your comments. But no use mate. i have tried it 100 times. still it doesnt, it seems like there is some problem with my Set. Memory card is working fine. I dont know if anything stuck in the memory card slot and its stopping from proper connection. Or i lost the drivers. How to upgrade the software on my xda IIi. or reinstall the drivers. Please help me in fixing this problem. Its all happened when i tried to install Tomtom on the system. damn softwares.
Cheers.

Does this SD card work in a card reader. I have found that some of the cheaper SD cards dont last very long especialy if removing and replacing them alot.
Been using transcend 80x slc cards for a whiel and had no problem with them.
I use tomtom, also constantly writing video and mp3s to the cards so far they have outlasted any other make I have had.
Yes.
Yes. i am using this in my camera. I can read and write to the card using other devices. The card which i received from O2 is also not being recognizing.
Cheers,
Suresh

No, there is current no fix available. HTC is said to release a new WM6 ROM that fix this problem - but it's just hearsay, don't count on it.
The storage card 2 appears when your card is corrupted (perhaps on the system memory, or the card physically), it just got stuck in an unusable state in the system. Somehow at the same time, some program is trying to write things into it. The WM OS is so dump (convienient to programmer, however) that it treats storage cards as part of PATH for saving files. So the OS "magically" creates a new folder "storage card 2", in an attempt to give you the most pleasant experience using WM instead of an error. But users won't notice problems until it is too late, or would only notice this with even bigger confusions like you.
To be honest, I believe a simple error message would really make everyone's life easier, be it users, and the guys at HTC.
OK, if you are asking for remedies, there is one. Try the program "sd sentry". It will notify you whenever there's a corruption or disappearance of the SD card, so you could prevent damage actually being written to the disk physically by rebooting the machine in advance.
How to get this little but useful program is left as an exercise the the readers.
Is there anyway to force format a corrupted MicroSD card? While partitioning the card, I messed up pretty bad. The card is unreadable to the G1, and when inserted into my computer is undetectable and even causes Windows Explorer to hang. I have tried several computers with memory card readers, different cell phones, etc.
--wow. the simplest of devices solved my problems. I used a Nokia 5310, it allowed me to format the memory card without any checks. Thank you for simple phones.
Damn... I have a 2GB card with the exact same problem. I wonder if my BB Curve would do the trick... probably not
Had the problem and fixed it this way:
First, turn off the autoplay on the PC. That will resolve the hanging problem as Winblows attempts to figure out what the hell is being inserted into it (sounds like my last date!)
Next, download and install a program called Flash Drive Tester v1.12 and run it on the card. It will basically blank the card completely as it does its test.
You should be able to reformat in Windows by doing a "Full Format" on the drive.
Problem solved (at least for me)
kinda same problem
Hey there, I hav had my g1 for a while now and maybe 4 or 5 months ago when looking through my albums it loaded up all the thumbnails (took longer than usual) but when I tried to view any it just blanked all the thumbnails and started loading them again. Eventually managed to recover my files and reformat card using pc. No problems till now, same thing happened again. Has any1 else had this problem? It is the stock 2gig Transcend microSD. Also now I'm running apps2sd on a partition on my card and cyanogenmod but as I said this happened before when everything was stock. Thanks in advance people
Heya guys,
long story short: I started getting some random SD card ejects after one of the updates. Sadly, I can't pinpoint the specific nightly.
The MicroSD card went through extensive tests, reformats and checks. Tried using it in both adaptive and portable storage modes but still getting the problem. The MicroSD card appears to be genuine, its 32 gigs and currently it works. It's formatted in ExFat I believe and it usually starts ejecting during the playback of songs.
I got an unsupported SD format once, but after a reboot it seems to be working again.
After some forum reading I saw that people say that their cards are usually dying and they just need to change it.
One thing I suspect that shorthened the life of my card was actually dual-booting with MultiRom. Im aware that cards have a specific write/read count, but I was a bit hopeful that I wouldnt need to change my card.
I'd like to ask if someone else has experienced the same issues and found a solution, or I really just need to get a new MicroSD card.
Thank you in Advance.
