Let's talk about 3D accelerated games that WORK on Touch PRO.
So far I've tested 2 games.
- Quake III Arena (low framerate ~5FPS, sometimes ~9-12).
- Call of Duty (not perfect but quite ok, the sound & music is jerky)
Please, keep the topic limited to 3D hardware accelerated games.
I'm using ATI D3D drivers (irrelevant because the listed games are using OPenGL)
Ancient Evil,
it's a Diablo-like RPG and has even 3D realtime rendered shadows
Chopper Flight
Skyforce Reloaded
Snow Rally Canada 1.1
Volcano Island
Tomb Raider
SPV Duke3d
and that's all i can think of right now...
also, i run a playstation emulator (games that i own) but it doesn't use hardware acceleration as of yet (the developer stopped working on it)... fpsce i think is what its called... if anyone knows of a PS1 emulator that uses hardware acceleration that would be grrrrreat.
Call of duty 4 is out for PPC
Do you really like to play this games with the pen? Would be better with buttons I think. (or maybe a combo).
tony hawk 2 and virtual pool mobile dont work
TheTruth, are you sure that Skyforce Reloaded use HW acceleration? I don't think so .
Here's a video showung quake 3 arena in action on the touch pro: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=x8_wfWaYa_w
As you see, it's not smooth at all. In some arenas work better, in some worse.
For more information about Touch Pro performance please follow this topic (also videos comparison between multiple devices)
DSF - have you tried the new 3D drivers? Do they impact performance on games at all? I know it changes the hologram app but that's just a toy...

what is? quake 3???
@mikeeey of course not.. he's talking about the VR hologram application.
@bugsykoosh yeap, i've said that in my first post. However, Quake 3 for example, is using OpenGL CM not Direct3D.
Anyone got THPS2 running hardware accelerated? I only got software renderer . It seems that Touch Pro/Diamond lacks HW OpenGL CL library (libGLES_CL.dll)
About Call of Duty2.

Also, I made a strange discovery about the sound. If you start the game twice, then kill the first one, the second one carries on with sound fixed! See if it works for you. Only useful if you play it a lot. If so, and it works, you could maybe do something with Mort Script.

nope, i installed it and it didnt work. may need to move dlls around or something maybe?
Prince of Persia HD runs, but it seems to be around 15fps. Is there a FRAPs for WinMo? I tried Top Gear and it runs at like 5fps, quite sad.

You need libGLES_CL.dll, HTC Touch Pro/Diamond have only libGLES_CM.dll. So these devices lacks libGLES_CL.dll hardware accelerated library
If you get the SW version that's bundled with libGLES_CL.dll allowing sofware rendering..
@shinydiamonds that game is not using hardware acceleration. Maybe it's using DirectDraw..
This topic is only for games which are using hardware acceleration.
Ok, now with the help of NuShrike libgles_cl forwarder we can play other Dell Axim x51v compatible games. (even if the framerate is not perfect)
Yes, I've got THPS2 running in hardware accelerated mode.
Download libgles_cl :

Later edit: unfortunately it's not that playable. sluggish, low FPS (even in low quality) .
It runs so smooth on the del axim x51v ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KS4PVS6_8U

Dear all
I've been tracking the various wvga devices now available for windows mobile and there still seem to be lacking some good applications and games for the wvga resolution. Does anyone know if there are wvga versions of classics such as doom, duke nukem and quake for the xperia?
Regards
Andy
Yes .
Yes there are. Do a search for "quake ppc" on google or through the forum search. They don't run particularly well, not many full screen games do, I personally don't think the x1 will ever have enough cpu/gpu grunt to run much well on the 800x480 screen.
Quake 3 arena gets 5 to 15 fps and it is playable ive played the first 4 maps, altho i cant give you the link..
Oh and that quake 3 that im talking about does not work in landscape mode so you have to use it with the dpad.. that kinda sucks..
wm versinon, qvga:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3Ys3ziWgVk
this game is QVGA, is there an VGA or even WVGA version?
or is is possible to port it somehow...
and i don't believe that it's impossible to make games like this on WM, this usual ugly, double pixled graphics is painless...
same game for iphone:

u might wanna try thps 2 best game for winmo imo
i have it plainig some times, but played it whean i had FS Pocket Loox 720, so it's not new fro me, but this game assasion creed is truli interesting in game play
It is available for WVGA-devices as JAVA-game. Got it myself. The game itself isn't a new one by the way (the JAVA-game is as old as the PC-game, and maybe a bit older). Sadly it is not native WVGA; it has got these ugly looking Softkeys on the bottom of the screen.
Because i heard they can improve video playback and i was just wondering if they actually do and if so then where i can find them?
thanks,
Maybe this is what you are looking for? X2 video driver:

imho the only drivers I've tried that actually changes something for better. nfs uc is more smooth with those.
pack 3 is the proper one...
Heyo Bronx, did you try Coreplayer playing SD xvid files off the memory stick?
I don't mind so much converting but boy would it be nice just to plop them down on my phone and play smoothly. I'll give it a whirl myself tomorrow hopefully.

Coreplayer stutters with files of bitrate higher than 500kb/s with Vulcan (X2) drivers. :X

i got the pack 3 driver pack installed and i´m watching videos from the sc card with coreplayer^^
if you set video qualy to high then it lags sometimes and fast moves or something like that are shown like a diashow xD
on medium the video runs perfect...but often the pictures are...mhm...i dont know how to say....my english is bad....but i think blurry is the right word....dont know sry xD
mhm.....but i got also gfxboost 1.2 installed and enabled....i should disable it and test it again^^
but on medium they can get really blurry which i guess is the compensation - and to be honest i found playing xvid stuff that the drivers didnt really help >.< guess we'll have to wait for X2 official release to get drivers (January 10th the release date now)
lol....damn^^
i deactivated gfxboost and then played a normal movie in xvid/divx(700mb size)....at high quality....damn good and perfect smooth^^
and then i tried a game which lagged when i had gfxboost activated^^....after deactivating gfxboost the game runs smooth =D no lags^^
i think i will let it deactivated but still installed^^ but the driverpack 3 is a must have it improves a lot every application which got some grafics run much smoother ^^
Since it is not so simple to find good VGA games in the ocean of the internet, i want to point you all to this list of VGA game collected by cktlcmd, an HTC Athena owner.
Since both Raphael and Athena are VGA, i have started trying some of them: they are all working flawlessly!!!
Here is the list:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=404678
Other good games for Touch Pro, not listed in that thread:
Resco Snake, PDAmill Gamebox Classics, Asphalt 4HD, SimCity Metropolis, Xtrakt, Tiki Towers (native qvga but playable also in vga).
Here we have special gamepacks to install tons of arcade games with a single cab (thanks to aruppenthal):

Thanks
