Looks great!!
Personally i prefer this disign over the standard HTC Design.

As do I...consideing cancelling my HTC one now but at june... not sure if I want to wait that long and also lose however amount on my diamond 1

Here is a link to T-Mobile website for high res pic's of the MDA Compact V
T-Mobile

hmm.. no front LED's.. are they not on the Diamond 2?

What tmobile priceplans do you think this phone will be on?

It's ugly. I like the original more.

Dude - that is NOT T-Mobile's website, and those are NOT high-res pics of the MDA anything. They are wishful thinking - and while they are great looking renders, no one on here should believe they are anything otherwise.

A case of Humble Pie me thinks!!

I stand corrected.

Phoned yesterday to T-Mobile Germany. Release should "KW 21".
Costs should be around ~150EUR with "Max Relax M Friends".
Just some infos from the guy on Hotline, nothing official.

Got mine today in the Netherlands.
Pictures are correct.
Coming from a HTC P3300 (Artemis) it is a lot faster
And the place for the micro-sd card is a lot better. Don't have to remove the battery and SIM anymore

I've got mine now for 2 weeks already and I must say: "Perfect Phone"
Only major differance is the T-Mobile TF3D home screen.
From the outside I think the T-Mobile version is way better than the standard HTC version. But hey, everybody has a differant tast, luckelly

Got my MDA compact V (NLD) yesterday.
Really disliked the logo beneath the screen, so I removed the plastic part, sanded the clearcoat and logo from the part (900 grain sandpaper) and airbrushed it again with clearcoat, much better!
(BTW there are 2 screws beneath the logo-part in case you want to dismantle yours, the logo-part is only stuck with double sided tape).
Also the T-Mobile branded ROM is quite ugly, luckily I could use a goldcard* to flash it to 1.40.707.1 WWE, much and much better!!
No more pink splash-screens, and no skinny click.
(*goldcard was generated with QMAT)

Just got a call from T-Mobile UK asking me to upgrade - basically wanting to keep my custom. They offered me a new phone or a tariff reduction by £15.
I enquired about the MDA Compact V and they said it had just come in last night but they only had 100 and all of those had sold out already. They are getting another shipment tomorrow so I should have it by Saturday or Monday.
I am hanging on to my 12 month contract for dear life. A new phone every 12 months for free on a £35 contract. Not to shabby I guess. Hopefully my next upgrade should coincide with tegra/snapdragon phones with windows mobile 7. Please MS don't delay any further.

I almost soiled my underoos when I saw this phone. Looks a lot nicer than the original htc version. too bad for the t-mobile logo splattered on it.

Hello,
I got the T-Mobile MDA Compact V (Dutch) for a week now. Can anybody tell me how to activate the Transcriber-software?
Or do I have to do edit the registry for this to show this option?

New SD Camera Available... and it works!

We just got our first batch of SD cameras for the XDA PocketPC phone and it sold out fast!
We will receive another batch before the end of the month, so you may want to order one today before those are gone too.
With this SD camera YOU DON'T NEED SDIO, so it works perfectly with the XDA. You can even record video!

it dont seem to stay secured in the slot!
a regular sd card locks-in, but IT slides right out, even
after u here that little click, when u push it in.
any idea why?
other than that, its very nice!
i hope they make a 1.3/2.1 mp soon

I see that you do export. I am in the UK. Just trying to match up the price to work out feasability. Looks expensive.

I was almost considering ordering one of these, but the camera has no flash, which is the problem with a lot of the camera phones.
A friend pointed out if I were to spend $80 for it, I might as well put in a little bit more money and get a cheap digital camera.
Basic line is this. Camera phones are finally evolving and new ones come with a flash. To be honest, you REALLY need a flash with these things.
I just saw a tiny camera at Fry's that does video, 1MP stills, has flash, and a built-in display LCD. $90. Might as well just get that and swap the card into the XDA if you want to copy/send photos. This camera is too little for too much. It's too big to really be any particular space saver. Is it even safe to carry around in the device all the time (couldn't it release and fall out if bumped)?
i have one of these, paid £59 from ebay, but it doesnt lock into the sd slot. any advice on making it stay in or it will get lost.
Smallboy... why not try the bodger's favourite... a small wodge of "blue tac"! - this works for me for my tom-tom car cradle (along with a couple of screws at the bottom of the cradle)
Theoretically you could place the blue tac between the xda body and camera, which would give it some "grip" but yet easily removable.
not a bad idea m8, but i use the sd slot with a 256mb card for my navigator maps and mp3's
SD camera for XDA
Where can I buy it ? Datanywhere has teamed up with Expansys !
Regards,
i got mine from ebay uk.
And I just put in a purchase on ebay to the seller seems a really nice guy replied straight away
yeah the guy is really good
he replys quick and informs you of everyhting happening hes a top bloke

Im glad to here that, he does seem a top guy
Im really surprising something like expansys hasnt picked this camera up
Thinking of expansys got another topic to do
From the looks of it, the camera on eBay keeps droping a droping if its get really low I get another one for a just incaser
Great piece of kit aint tried it out but will sometime this week
it is a good peice of kit but i cant always be bothered to carry it around with me.
i got a 3.1 mercury digicam that takes pics/movie/sound thats SD card so i can use that

T-Mobile Vario III - front panel buttons contoured?

I can't get over to a phone shop to check right now, but could someone let me know whether the buttons on the UK T-Mobile Vario III variant of the Kaiser are flat or contoured?
Even T-Mobile's own website seems confused, with most photos showing the standard:

but others showing a nasty flattened version which would be more difficult to operate by touch (as I do my current phone):
So which version is accurate? With a bit of luck I'll be leaving my trusty old Vario (Wizard) behind and moving in with you all in this forum tomorrow.
What else should I know, I wonder? I'm sure I'll get into ROM upgrading soon - which actually looks easier than with my older phone from the FAQ here.
Thanks for anyone's help.
Andre
mine are flat. The lower picture is correct.
dunno about the UK, but t-mob Holland gives you the flattend version. I quite like it though..
but before you run off to the shop to get a Vario3 aka Kaiser, i suggest you do some more reading at the forum about the driver issue's.
The buttons for the Vario III are flat.
However, you could always get the regular Kaiser/TyTN II buttons from here:

Darn, WTF would they want to do that?!
I assumed that the 'flat' pictures were of some sort of pre-production prototye, as most of the T-Mobile website shows the normal buttons. I wonder if the buttons can be replaced with the standard arrangement of buttons that everyone else has?
[Edit: thanks for the info Teppic. I have read about the video driver issues, but I assume it will still be a lot faster than my current Vario, until someone gets the problems sorted out?]
Andre
your assumption on your old Vario being slower is somewhat, lets say ..wrongish
i have a Vario, Universal and a Vario3, can't say the Vario3 wins anywhere on performance.

Oh. So they really have b*ggered the Kaiser up big time then?
My current Vario will play video (ish), but without a decent network speed that's a kinda moot point. I assumed that the more than double clock speed would make enough difference to improve matters even without optimised drivers.

The simple answer is
On "paper" the Vario III is superior to its predecessors
In practice "HTC" didnt do a good job on the software side, and poor video performance (drivers) impacts all aspects of the phone, from camera to open/close screen changes.
At this stage, given HTC's statement on them not supplying new drivers/software and the fact they now want to state that hardware that they quoted in press releases as being in the phone are now not present and "may be" in future products.
I would not upgrade to any HTC products, keep your Vario, stay on the same contract etc until you see a phone you like (but avoid HTC)

I did decide to go for the Vario III in the end, and it's not too bad in general performance terms (at least as good as my original Vario I guess, although of course it should be a lot faster, but hey).
I took a look at the link you suggested though, and although it states that this part is for the TyTn II, the button layout in the photo is different (the red and green phone buttons are at the bottom of the keypad rather than the top for example). I'd still like to put on the original contoured buttons rather than the flat T-Mobile ones, but not sure whether this part is correct...?
(I assume that fitting it will be easy enough - it looks like four screws on the back of the sliding front section should allow the whole of the silver bezel to be removed?)
Andre
I never noticed that the call and end call buttons were inverted on that replacement keypad!
I've just done a Google search and every replacement keypad I've seen seems to be the same.
You could always try these guys to see if they can supply you with the correct one: http://www.apexlaptops.co.uk/. They are based in Kent. (I will admit though that I've never tried them, but I was looking for somewhere that would repair the USB port on my eBay purchased phone before I managed to fix the bent pin on it myself).
Give them a call to see if they can help out. The worst they can do is say "no".
Thanks, I might give them a call as their website is a bit out of date and doesn't mention the recent handsets. I might also email that US supplier and ask if they've maybe used a photo of the wrong keypad?
Do you know if fitting is simple, or is it a pain to get the cover off & then catch a whole load of little springs which bounce everywhere...
Andre
The UK O2 version (XDA Stellar) has contoured buttons, as does (I believe) the Vodafone (v1615)

Phone: Unlocked GSM quad band world phone, 850/900/1800/1900MHz bands with EDGE. US (AT&T) 3G HSDPA on the 850/1900MHz bands.
No more FM Radio!!!
Bigger Battery though!!!
U.S. Version 3G HTC Diamond $624.99
I will get my phone this Wednesday yea!!! If anybody wants to buy one here is the website i bought mine from>>>HERE
Well look's like I'll get it for sure on Monday 9/22/08 because it was a PRE-ORDER Plus that's what the tracking# shows also they have them in stock now so it's all good i guess.I just have to wait a little longer!!!
Do you think FM radio could be just disabled via software in this new version?
I really like the new bigger battery, but FM radio is too important for me.
Let's see what you geeky early adopters will come up with...
The FM radio on the Fuze (AT&T version of Raphael) was just software-disabled. On the Raphael forum, someone was able to take a .cab with the FM radio program, install it to their AT&T Fuze, and got the radio working properly. Probably the same story with the Diamond.
Like the Sprint Diamond, it's a tad thicker than the original Diamond, to make room for the higher capacity battery (1340 mAh vs. the original model's 900 mAh battery). The Diamond's code is DIAM110.

ok i lost my faith... i need to get rid of the european diamond i have and buy the us version. Its a shame im in love with this phone.. but without 3G support its like having a ferrari rolling with cart wheels.
TD US
Just got mine about 2 hours ago. Yup battery is 1350mAH and back cover is soft matte finish. The Box is square for the US version, not the fancy shiny diamond shape as in the past for EU
Just out of curiosity, does it say P3700 on the box or is there a different US model number?
ROM please??
Can anyone please upload the US ROM??? perhaps it will make our european devices work with US 3G otherwiser i will have to sell it!!
haha america finally gets a proper diamond just like the rest of us had from the beginning.lol.
It took so long because AT&T didn't pick it up. They had to satisfy the carriers first.
US Model
Touch Diamond on the front of the box
HTC P/N 99HEJ116-00
No reference to P3700
On the touch box, it was located with the IMEI and Serial #.
Model Number
Yeah but the Touch Diamond US does not reference P3700 anywhere on the white label Just says Touch Diamond
IMEI -
S/N -
P/N -
UPC
On the back of the box the usual HTC Highlights and Specifications are listed
It does say DIAM110 though. Got mine today!
any change or a ROM dump of you guys??

Seeking worthy successor to Tilt

Contract w/ ATT up in June, any suggestions / rumors for a good replacement? Prefer HTC, maybe others? I want at least the functionality of the Tilt, and then some. Maybe WM7 based? I like newer stuff and don't mind tweaking, actually insist on some tweak-ability http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
I would go with the Pro2. It has the tilting screen that the Touch Pro didn't, and this time in WVGA. It will be released with 6.1, but will be upgradable to 6.5. In theory, it will be upgradable to WinMo 7 too, but only time will tell. The worst that could happen is you could have to flash a custom WM7 ROM. If you buy the Unlocked version from a place like Expansys-USA, I am expecting a price tag of at least $750. Check out this and this.

You know AT&T is going to fsck up the keyboard.
Unless something better comes along -- I plan to get the Pro2 when my Kaiser dies (or when the prices for the Pro2 come down a bit )
I will sure miss all the buttons and the jog wheel though
*This* was my next phone before HTC unveiled the TP II , now we will have to compare.
I know that T-Mobile will supposedly be getting the touch pro 2, but have we heard anything about at&t even getting it?
If my sources are correct, it is extremely likely that AT&T will get this, I believe by December. However, they will probably ruin it as usual with trial applications, junk shortcuts to their services, and they will most likely ruin the keyboard, etc. This is why I'm just gonna save up, pay more to buy it unlocked and bypass AT&T entirely.
Dave

According to my sauces, it will be called the Barium ( as in Barium enema ) and yes, it will include the great AT$T keyboard.

The T28 was my first contact with mobilesphones (cellphones).

Is it the original or a copy? I believe a Lithium Polymer battery was a big selling point for the T28 and the size is different too with some millimeters or so.
The phone is sold for 349+49 SEK incl shipping which is about 45 USD
Have already ordered it, as it seems to be a T28 more or less...
At Priskungen. A not so serious Internet company.
Ericsson T28 or a copy
People be warned this is not a serious company with a proper customer care.
Probably some Garage/basement company, doesn't mean it is a scam but...
I sure remember that phone! I used to have one when I was younger
Before the merge between sony & ericsson I uses to know some folks working for ericsson and they hooked me up with the latest phones all the way until the t68 came out!
the t28 was probably one of the best phones ever made - at the time it came out it was THE best phone, no questions asked!
Although my favourite ericsson phone was the t66 - the ultra tiny one.

I only partially agree. The T-36M was THE best phone ever made when it debuted, before the T28 or T28World Edition for GSM 1900Mhz.
I say get the T36M better BT implemented (T28World had BT, T28 did not), and better battery life. BONUS if you can find 1 of the original 36 that shipped in Canary Yellow. For some reason I still miss that flip and that Antenna. Only recently we're getting phones that could do 6hrs-14min continues calls straight from full charge. That was my personal record done twice 13 almost 14yrs ago with my current girlfriend. WOW!
Hell yes man, this was my first phone. The other day I was on a hunt to find out what the phone was after lots of searching I found it. Definitely a great phone at the time!
Ok
I got my T28s today. It came complete with a charger and battery but no manual
Everything seems to work but... The menu language is all in China signs
Anyone here on XDA having any clue of it's possible to change the language with the installed firmware? Is there any other firmwares.
Also The T28 came without box, just wired together with the charger in bubble plastic and taped together to a ball Those Chineses...
Sadly the antenna the T28s trademark was damaged but still had better receiving than both my X10 Mini and J20i Hazel.
So those fellow XDA members that still remember the
T28 menus, please help me set them to English or Swedish
Sorry for not using Google before asking
I found a Swedish manual in Wikipedia.
Also there was no Swedish language in this phones firmware but luckily enough this phone had the English menu language.
In the manual I found that keying in: "arrow up" 0000 "Arrow down" was an emergency language setting code.
I have a feeling that the T28S will be quite funny for ordinary phone calls as well as one or two SMS.
Using Prepaid so the Internet is not interesting also even thought the T28S is able to connect a computer to the Internet the speed would be 9,6 kb/sec...
The T28s is also from an age before WAP and
I wish I know
I remember it well it wasn't my first cell phone but was my first Tmobile phone.
I loved it's size and form factor.
My little Huawei IDEOS's size reminded me of it.
