I have Installed TomTom and it works but cannot find maps because a memory leak for the moment ( somebody is working hard on this haha) but in the meantime should maybe help to have the network automatic on, so TomTom can find the maps on the sd card?
Or/and automatic usbtool on
Is there somebody who really navigate with TomTom????
Some input is appreciated

I did manage to get TomTom running, but it crashed within minutes because of lack of memory. I installed TomTom to the internal memory on WM side and stored the maps on a network drive on x86 side.
Now I'm using Garmin Mobile PC with Franson GPSgate instead. Works like a charm
Deadnex thanks for your reaction.
The TomTom did not crash without the maps. I finally put the map in the sync folder but that did not work either, got just a black screen. So I tried the garmin nroute with gps gate and that is perfect but that program is not so good and a very tiny view. I got XT working but it wants to have a garmin gps, if I want to use the build in gps I need an extra activation key, the details map is working. It is like you driving your car but when you want the speed of 80 km /HOUR THAN YOU HAVE TO GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD AGAIN. How did you overcome this???
It is most practical to have all automatic ON, like gps, usbtool and networking and do all the software thing in the vista side, there you have much more software and possibilties.
I only look for travel and phonesuite software on the vista side
Regards
you don't need to buy gpsgate with my rom. you have gps2blue. nlook for instruction in my rom thread.
Now I'm using Garmin Mobile PC with Franson GPSgate instead. Works like a charm
anyting details?Thanks
Yes!! Thanks for your input!! it works indeed perfect with pc mobile and gpsgate and I got win7 the latest to work, very stable this version recognised all the drivers and the snapvue with a clean install. This is really a big difference gps2bleu is not stable the connection is fluctuating, so I am back with gpsgate. Windows 6.5 is on his way with fingerfriendly today screen and more network friendly, so who know what that will bring to us
I only use the snapvue to connect gps and phone to the vista/win7 side because there are much more progtrams to use.
Somebody who knows a program for vista or win7 or xp that works as a phone suite sms calls etc

Hello
Does anyone of you us the s730 with an external GPS?
If yes, which application do you use for Routing? TomTom? Navigon?
TomTom doesn't work very well on the S730. They don't produce a SP specific version so you're stuck with the PocketPC version, which kind of works if you use FakeCursor, but it's a right faff, only useful if you already have TomTom Navigator and don't want to spend on anything else.
As for the anything else, CoPilot 7 looks good, although I haven't tried it.
Fount on S710 forum:
The best one is Garmin Mobile XT for Windows Mobile Ver. 4.10.40w, here is the link
That looks terrible!
I'm using Route66 Mobile 7, and I find it very well made.
Hehe, Garmin XT tested some Years ago (was fixed to only garmin GPS receivers)
Now they make the finnish better and open the restrictions between XT and Garmin GPS Receivers.
All what i can say: it works
BG Joy
Also Navigon NMM6 is for specifically for smartphones. I have just got a copy, screenshots are great, but since I only have 1GB card (maps are just below 2GB) I have not had chance to try it yet.
Besides TomTom 5.2 - 5.26 haas also been made for smartphons nd does not require touchscreen.
I've swapped an old copy of TomTom Mobile 5.2 to my S730 and it works perfectly. Ok, the maps are getting a little old but major routes don't change that often! If anything it's better than it was on my C500 - the display is much clearer.
I'm using the TomTom BT GPS to connect, and that works fine with Google Maps.

I had TomTom 5.2 unfortunately only for Symbian 60! When I upgraded to TomTom 6.0 it included all formats but Smartphone was no longer supported
You could try CoPilot 7 which is available for Windows Mobile and you may be lucky enough for it to use your working internal GPS on your device Dumdidum

Thanks but buying this on good luck-base... nope
Ups just saw that they even used the Wings for their screenshots (on CoPilot 7 website)
Hi,
I use my old Tomtom 5.2 Smartphone verision. Its fine, but not up to date. Unfortunalty my other TOmtom 6 LIcence from my old Palm Treo does not work, because S730 is not suppoerted anymore....
By the way. I checked Navigon Mobile Navigator 6. But before spending 130 Euros for it I want to test it. Does anyone has the installation program files for Smartphones, so that I can give a try?
I do not really want to spread warez, but check torrent P2P
Can use TomTom 5.20 too, but cannot connect with the integrated GPS :-(
Route 66 V7 is working with the internal GPS juhuuuu
just naturally working, or did u make some changes to the registry/teaks?
thanks

CoPilot and Route66 are known to work fine with devices that have an internal GPS, therefore no seperate external GPS is required.
TomTom however doesn't recognise the internal GPS of equipt devices yet, so they have to also have an external GPS

Not true. TomTom uses the internal GPS on the TyTN II as well as others.
Where it doesn't work is with Symbian devices such as the Nokia N95.

Have you tried with GPSID set to COM6 instead of the default COM4? IIRC, TT Mobile 5 will only connect to Bluetooth devices on COM6.
My device was working find with regards to GPS usage. I had to do a hard reset for some other issues. Now I can't get the GPS to work with TomTom or any other program where you specify the Com port.
Programs that work:
Live Search - Setting Windows Managed GPS Intermediate Driver
RunGps - Setting Windows Managed if you ask the program to find the port it will not find one. (Great Program)
Programs that don't work:
TomTom - Can't find the GPS whether I choose Internal or Other NMEA
GPS Test - Never finds the GPS
Any suggestions? Not really in the mood to do another hard reset but if folks think that will help I will try it. I have searched the forums and haven't found any specific answers to this.
This is an AT&T Tilt with the stock rom latest version from AT&T. No other modifications. I am not afraid to try editing the registry if need be.
Thanks,
Chris
bump.
Anyone?
did you install any gps software, i installed some crappy google maps knockoff and it borked my gps to where no program would connect had to hard reset my phone to get it to work again.

Nope. I have Live Search and RunGPS. Neither program has ever interfered with TomTom. Seems like something has gone wrong with the com port that the internal gps uses.
After a hard reset your first lock will take a little longer. How long have you left tomtom running to be able to get a lock? It might say no gps device for a goot 10 min before it locks on.
Also when you start up tomtom is the orange light blinking?

No lights. Running for 20 min and still can't find the device when set to internal gps. Thanks for the info though it was worth a try.
I have TomTom 6 and it is set to "Other BlueTooth GPS receiver" and Com4.
In Windows Mobile, Start, Settings, System tab, External GPS, Program port is Com4, GPS hardware port is (none), Baud 4800.

That didn't work either. I am going to do another hard reset this weekend and see what happens. I will install TomTom before anything else.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I gave up and did a hard reset. First thing I installed was TomTom. It now appears to work as previously. Not sure what took out the com port but now all is well.
live searh????
hi i upgraded my phones operating sistem or i shal say someone else did it for me other wise i would be able to figure this out my self. i cant get livesearch to run in the new windows mobile 6.1 why???? any one? any one????
Well I'm using Tomtom 6, l'm not a big fan of it, the maps are quite bland and boring.
What are other GPS softwares that have decent maps that work with the touch diamond? I'm quite pissed Igo8 has issues..
I am using CoPilot 7, I got it with my Orbit 2 a while ago, Its ok, easy to use, POI Searches can be a bit annoying but and the routing isn't as good as the tom tom I don't think but it still gets you from A-B.

Garmin Mobile XT. Very happy with it.
MapKing R12. GPS is just a toy for me, so it doesn't really matter. As long as it's working, it will be fine.

I have to say it's the same for me. It's actually funny because I have Garmin XT on the Diamond and I have Garmin in my car and both use the same map file so it's a bit overkill. Only used GPS once since I got the phone and that was to try it out of curiousity
Co Pilot 7, got with my Orbit 2. Quite happy with it, but would have preferred TomTom
Turning on Internal GPS
I installed the Garmin Xt on the the Diamond but it keeps searching for a Blue Tooth GPS. Is there some settings I need to do to get it to recognise the internal GPS and Vice versa. Thanks in advance
Destinator 7, I tried TomTom and hated it!
Im using TomTom 6 now. I have a TomTom Go 920 as well.
Never used Destinator 7 or Garmin XT - are these good? better than TomTom? Worthwhile checking out?
I released TomTom allows you to "Navigate to" and you can choose a contacts address - handy since I have addresses for most my contacts - it would take ages to store them into favourites.
using GMXT and MapkingR12...
for me maps for GMXT is more complete and updated than the one in Mapking..

Also using TomTom 6. Received my Diamond yesterday, I came from a Kaiser device.
But the screen draw is very very slow comparing to the Kaiser. Perhaps because of the VGA screen, don't know.
Also the directions and pointer are runnig about a second slower than the Kaiser (it's running 10 mtr behind my car).
Hopefully there will be a TomTom 7 and hopefully that will run smoother, I'm a very big fan of TomTom.
Friend of mine has a VGA HP PDA with Tomtom 6. Screen redraws are terribly slow. I have same version of Tomtom on my Prophet (QVGA) and it runs very smoothly. Think its down to the number of pixels.
I'm using Navigon 6.2 with europe map.
I always used to install and use iGo, but iGo 2006 and iGo 8 don't work with the Diamond

You need to config settings in Garmin. to cable GPS, and then point to correct COM (in my case COM4)
Just got my diamond and I can't seem to get tomtom6 in landscape mode. The tiltfunction doesn't work in the todayscreen or tomtom itself so I guess I'll have to find a rotate cab or get used to the standard mode.
Using Sygic McGuider.
Very impressed by it, good for TomTom users, nice screen on diamond, works like a charm and newer maps !!
Destinator
How do you guys get Garmin XT onto your device? Is it possible to copy the files from the SD card onto the phone?

Any workaround for this? The menu is terrible slow also, seems like other problem than pixels. Map-building takes ages, loading maps etc.

Use Mortscript to start TomTom with a script file. Before starting TomTom use command Rotate (90).
Garmin Mobile XT doesn't work on it :-( it can't find my GPS :-s
UPDATE 2008-06-14:
- Installed TomTom Navigator 6, works fine!
- I am wondering, will TomTom Navcore 8 work?
Since we can't use microSD card, I think only possibility is to use Garmin Bluetooth GPS.
tomtom
tomtom works fine on my diamond WITH INTERNAL GPS!!!!
Then TomTom i'll tray
The diamond works fine with Garmin Mobile XT with internal GPS on com 4
There is no Navcore8 for PPC.

Navcore8 for PNDs is Linux only. Your best hope is TomTom 7 if ever it is released. There were rumours of it built in ROM from a German site , with a limited Map.

How did you install? I have XT on a microSD but can't copy to Internal Storage, it only gives me an evaluation option or external GPS.
download install file from http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3389
then serach google on getting the internal gps to work
tomtom 6
i have tomtom 6 running on my diamond. Just copy the intire map to your diamond and then run the ttn.cab file. It will install itself on youre diamond. Then when it is installed go to gps settings and select OTHER NMEA GPS (or the one thats sounds like that) and then select com4. Should run like a charm.
tomtom6
i don't know if i can upload tomtom6 to the ftp site of XDA-developers? So that we all can enjoy tomtom.

Try google and take a look on the sites where you find tomtom... They got WAREZ written all over so i advise you not to upload it anywhere as it's illegal to do so.

Hi guys how do I go about setting the internal GPS to COM 4, all the methods I've tried keeps resetting when I press OK.
My Diamond would be a lot better if I had GPS working...
i have tomtom as wel.
to be honest i do not like it so much. it seems old and outdated. the letters are really small on the diamond and it takes a few minutes to get a lock.
i am waiting for route 66 v8. i had a good experience with v7 so i hope this is better than tomtom.
if tomtom would only release new versions.....
My TT - when in use, does not keep up with where I am located - it seems always to be lagging behind when i am approaching side streets . I have full signal too.
I'm running i00's ROM and want to access the GPS on the Vista side.
The GPS works fine for googlemaps on the WM side, but I can't figure out how to get the GPS usable to Vista applications - I already have software to use the GPS position data waiting on Vista.
So what do I have to do to see the GPS?
Thanks

You should use my latest rom "age of reason" if you want gps. It has all the necessary instructions for that.
