[FIX]Time zone problem [Not sure if it works] - Touch HD Windows Mobile ROM Development

Ok I've seen through some threads that there is a problem with the Time showing on Manila clock.
I use this kind of trick but I'm not sure if it'll work for you guys.
1) Go in manila clock, right softkey and choose "Local Time Settings".
2) Settings tab, left softkey "All settings" and go under System then open Clock & Alarms.
3) When you reach "Clock & Alarms", click on "Time" tab in the lower part and you should see that the "Home clock" is set to something like GMT +1 Cent Africa or something like that.
4) From here choose again your local time settings and click ok.
5) We are done, it always worked for me and I hope I managed to solve some problem out there

clock problem
This is all very well, but as soon as you sync with your pc, it puts the time back to the incorrect time.
I'm in the UK, and right now we are in BST (British Summer Time) which is forward by one hour, but the device has a bug that always puts it back to the non BST.
This is so frustrating, i think someone in another thread has found a way of changing the time in the manilla code by advanceing the time by 60 mins, but then this is a temp fix becasue again you need to change it when the BST time is changed in OCtober.

Doesnt work!
Here's a definative fix for the region, just unpack and copy applicable file to Windows folder.

You could disable time synchronization in ActiveSync, then it shouldn't be set to the incorrect time on sync.

Solution here works for me.

This worked for me. When you open the clock it still shows the incorrect time in the World Clock tab (here only). But it no longer changes the time on the main screen, and alarms still work.
I do not sync with a 'home' computer directly though, I only use the exchange server through google. So I don't know if that will still cause problems with others.

One thing that worked for me even if i connect to activesync it stills stay in the correct time is like i´ve said in this post.
Since that i haven´t got any trouble.

By "Force" do you just mean add the extra hour to the system time? (didn't really sound like it, but thought I would check) Or just change it back to the correct time? I tried that and never worked for me (second option). maybe your ROM already has the "Local Time Settings" reg key set.

in clock & alarms i didn´t change the GMT.
I simple add one hour in the time and pressed OK. It gave some kind of warning.. (don´t remeber what was) and till now i dont have any problem with the time. Although in world clock says 23:10(local) in today screen i have 0:10.

OK. I found a solution:
I'll include pictures to help everyone here:
1. Sync your phone with Windows and you should see something like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2.Now Right click on "Windows PC" (bove the Favorites)
3.Click settings
4. Uncheck that damn box where it says "Sync...time and date upon connecting"
Now click OK and you should be good to go.

This worked for me too

In spite of the commenst to the contrary, this works.
You've got to take the raindance approach "Move like this." and execute the 5 steps literally.
I tried syncing immediately and tried again after soft-reset. My timezone+summertime is finally respected.

Check this out if it helps .. http://sollerthoughts.co.uk/2009/04/07/how-to-resolve-gmt-bst-time-zone-issue-in-windows-mobile/

Maybe the best fix?
xdaConvert made a change to the database file.

It worked well for me.

time on today screen

I recently flashed my 2i with the new o2 rom.. all went well loving the new rom!
however, ive noticed the time/date display is different (top today plugin):

the new one doesnt show the time!
only thing i can think of is I installed the corporate version...
can anyone tell me how to get the time back there?
thanks
I'm afraid I have no idea - but could I ask, what plugin are you using to get your tcp data? (network throughput etc)
Vijay
it's a program called IP Dashboard.
very handy piece of kit, it auto changes depending on what connection is being used: usb/bluetooth/phone/gprs/wifi etc
O2 Active installs its own Time/Date Today plugin which is different to the standard one that you received with the Corporate install.
If when you had the o2 stuff installed you ever looked at your Today options you should have noticed there were two clocks...the stock one, and the o2 active version.
I'm sure there are plenty of utilities and plugins you can get to display the time as well as the date to appear - though why you'd want to when you've also got both on the taskbar is beyond me :? :wink:
Cheers
Ant
i just like it there cause its easy to see in the morning lol.. its a bit bigger...
i dont really know why i have the date in my taskbar.. never look at it :/
i havnt found any plugins that *just* show the time, they all go way overboard

Er, I do. I got my XDA2i from o2 Insurance (when a fat bastard ran into me and smashed my XDA2 screen in me pocket - twat!) and it's one of the main things (one of those annoying little niggles) that I'm missing. It's handy when you've got the machine turned off, you want to just check the time and you don't want to enter the password just to get it - every other mobile phone user on the planet has that abilty. Also, when you're doing something on the XDA2i and you want to check the time, I don't fancy having to Start / Today, just to get back to the Main Screen just to check out the time - before I just glanced to the Taskbar.
Any ideas how to get this back on the screen? There's no option I can find in Settings...

How to get HTC Home Screen for AT&T Tilt?

I want the HTC Home Screen (with the big clock and shortcuts) on my Tilt. Where can I find it? How do I install it? Will it mess with the AT&T ROM?
Thanks.

here you go sir. im only giving you this one because the 6 button version always seems to put my phone on vibrate when i dont want it. so heres the one that works. it will not mess your phone up. install to the phone. enjoy.
Thanks
Thank you very very much!
I've never done this, how do I install?
Move the .cab to your phone - use File Manager on your phone to browse to where you put the file - run the file by clicking on it
I installed the cab, but I dont see anything different...do I need to change any setting after installing? Will this give me the weather on the Today screen?
reset the device
reset then go to settings, today, items, and select the correct plug_in.
I did that, and have the HTC plugin checked...just wondering what im supposed to be seeing...anybody have a screenshot?
What about the weather...How do I get that?
Yeah here it is,
Ignore the watermark, couldnt find a handy/free screenshot
anyway for weather, if you want your own city its another story.
There is one good tutorial for that on the forums, just have to look
*edit whoops images didnt go through, let me crop them

Just select a different theme for the today screen.
I want to try this on my new AT&T Tilt. But can it be uninstalled? In case I change my mind? In the past, I downloaded one of the HTC Home Plug-in CABs from this site, and I had to hard-reset to get rid of it...
quick question, what plugin are you using to show the state of the connections (phone, wifi and bluetooth) ,I don't recognise it

WIRLESS TODAY PLUGIN
:] you guys should really try the cabs duttythroy put together
HTC Home with Contacts
I downloaded the HTC Home cab listed in this string and it appears to work just fine. I need to tweak it (i.e. - add more cities to the weather file as well as add the programs on the program screen), but what I really miss is the Conatcts screen ... the one where you have 9 pictures that are one touch dialing in that tab. Does a .cab exit for HTC Home with the four tabs instead of the three?
I ran the 6 button on and 8125 and HATED the fact that it arbitrarily changed my phone to vibrate mode. But I'd really enjoy the contacts tab.
Thanks!
Battery Bar ...
I also downloaded the .cab listed in this string for the battery bar in the header (for lack of better term). I placed it on the phone and ran it, then the phone rebooted ... nothing. I executed the .cab a second time, was told the previous version would be uninstalled, it installed and rebooted again ... nothing.
I picked the QVGA version of the bars, not solid. I may try solid next but I can't imagine that would correct any issues. Just wanted to post that it didn't work for me.

Snooze in alarm can this be modded

Hi Guys,
Anyone know if the snooze menu can be modified, i would like to have just one sooze time so the the soft key works as the snooze rather than bring up a menu of times, sometimes select the wrong snooze setting with my fat fingers
Thanks
Matt
Would be such a good idea. Handling menu's while half asleep is very difficult
Tell me about it, its all i can do to find the phone, let alone deal with a menu, could this be one for the reg edit hackers????
What about........
I happened to spot a post on another site about a little freeware alarm program called SpoonAlarm that allows you to do lots of things with alarms, including setting the number of snoozes....and apparently, it's all with a finger-friendly interface I've not tried it myself, but I plan to as the WM6 built in alarm stuff is ****e so anything's gotta be an improvement, right?
Anyway, you can download SpoonAlarm from this page - I'm not gonna post it here without getting the author's permission first.
Enjoy!
Mark.

From the screen grabs I can't see an improved "Snooze" button. Essentially what is needed: when the alarm goes off the entire screen should turn into a snooze button, and the soft keys should allow you to turn it off. That way you can't miss it when your dozing.
I use SPB Time for my alarms. When your alarm goes you get 2 big buttons in your screen. One is snooze for 5 minutes(Green button) the other one is disable alarm (red button).

I've tried all the alarm apps this week, ptravelalarm, spb time, & spoonalarm.
ptravelalarm works great but it's just so damn ugly. If they could add skins I would go back to it.
spoonalarm is free but it doesn't allow for multi day repeat alarms. In other words, you have to set an alarm for each day of the week, instaed of just saying include all work days.
spb time so far is the best I've used and still have it loaded on my Tilt now. It does cost a couple of bucks but works better then the OS alarm and you can set SPB TIme to play MP3s as well.
SpoonAlarm
Thank you for trying the SpoonAlarm.
In couple of days I will be releasing a newer version of the tool and it will also include the following:
- Countdown clock
- Recuring alarms (upon configuration of course)
If you have any additional suggestions I would be happy to hear!

Everytime I go to the site or try to download I get this:
"Webhost4life Application Firewall Alert
Your request triggered an alert! If you feel that you have received this page in error, please contact the administrator of this web site."
How do you contact the administrator of the site if you cant access it?
Can I made with "The SpoonAlarm" more as one alarmtime? Or I can only made one alarmtime?
How does one completely remove SpoonAlarm?
I tried it out. Then went to remove programs and removed it, but before removing it I had my alarm that was set to snooze 3 times and... the alarm still went off and launched WMplayer but the dialog box said it couldn't find the program. Is there some file that still lurks somewhere? Even after a soft reset it still happened.

Today screen plugin for Bluetooth and Wireless

I had a Today screen plugin that I was using, and I have no idea how I got it, but I did a hard reset and now I have lost it. I'm using Sleuth 3, but it doesn't seem to be part of the ROM.
It consisted of a narrow status area that showed the name of my network operator and below that my wireless LAN status (disconnected or not) on the left, and then on the right side of the screen it showed whether my Bluetooth was on or off. I know there are probably a million plugins that look like that, but maybe somebody could point me in the right direction!
i think those both are just today screen items...go to start menu, settings, today, then the items tab. I would think its some kind of bluetooth or BT box you have to check...it depends on what type of rom your using...
~j
lol we both had the same posts....
until now
~j
I tried ticking all the available options and it never seemed to appear. I found a screenshot of someone else that was using it on the Today screen post. In the attached image, have a look at the plugin that says AT&T with WiFi and the Bluetooth symbol. Anybody recognize it?

Kaiser Tweak
Download and install Kaiser Tweak and about 3/4 way down you will find the option to enable "Wireless Today", this is what you are looking for.
It is already in your ROM you just need to tool to enable it.
Aaah, that makes sense, because I didn't remember installing it last time and I had fiddled with Kaiser Tweak. Got it back, thanks for the help!
I use a today plugin that allows me to switch BT/WiFi/Phone on/off as required - get it from http://www.paulbdesign.com/effcomm/ (the screenshot - capture0001.jpg - shows you what it looks like, so you can see what you're getting before you download it ).
It's nice and simple, doesn't use much screen real estate and it does what it says on the tin.....

i'm trying real hard but i cant see any plugin that says at&t, in fact i dont see anything on the today screen......am i even looking at a today screen? cause all i see is a naked woman
yeah, the t-mobile wing came with that today plug-in. it is labled 'TMO ONS' on the items menu.
i beleive its a built in software
It is built in - it's the Wireless Manager today applet.....
Download the attached CAB file, install it and then select "Wireless" in the list of items (you can move it up/down to get it where you want it). When you go back to your Today screen, it will be displayed.
There's a registry hack, and probably a CAB somewhere, that will allow CommManager to be launched when you tap on the Wireless plugin - you can search the Hermes Wiki for that one
Hope that helps you out....
Mark.
This is the original T-Mobile ONS cab that I got out of the Wing's extended rom. I use it on my xv6700 for Verizon and it works fine. It already links to the comm manager and the date links to
Clocks and Alarms shortcut in the settings menu.
thanks for those today screen plugins. I should mention though that they only work on htc devices.

I get an error similar to
the file *nowscreen* can not opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.
the correct chosen skin will come up though, but only after a soft reset.
otherwise the ability to change skins quickly and their assortment is nice.
UPDATE
For some reason the nowscreen link in my registry was "broken". I pointed it to the correct settings again and everything works fine.. without soft resetting.
It makes it very easy to set up new themes by simply editing the .mscr. I've also changed some of the weather graphics around with no issues.

I believe you only download the path and not the full version. Please download the full version which in Italian then download the English path and overwrite those files in the full version with the files in the patch. Remove the file SpbMobileShell.txt inside \SpbMobileShellSkins\Scripts. Hope that help
Ok, I'm having tons of trouble installing this. The main problem at the moment seems to be that mortscript.exe in the scripts folder is showing as a FOLDER, not an executable. Thus, I cannot complete the installation.
Anyone else having this problem? I've re-downloaded several times, all with the same result.
Ok, fixed this by downloading mortscript from the official site. Still, someone might want to check this. Great program!

Backlight Issue
MikiBest,
I love this program. I am having a backlight issue with it, though. Even though all of my backlight settings are set to never turn the backlight off, every time I end a call, the backlight dims and stays dim until I start another call or program. Am I missing a setting somewhere? Does anyone else have this problem?
Thanks!
I don't think this is a problem of Spb MS, try to check your display configuration into the Windows Settings.
All of my settings are correct; this issue has only occured with this program. Has anyone else experienced this?
Release 1.3
The 1.3 release, will be on line today.... please wait few hours , I've only to edit the web pages....
The new release is more user friendly, doesn't need to set paths and has the weather icons (4 sets) switch ability and layout switch ability ( you can choose from
1) basic;
2) with 2clocks (both analog and digital and same time);
3) FULL with 2clocks+MRU+3contact ) .
Good New !!!
It must explain if we must uninstall all the previous files or not...
