Any animation software? - G1 Apps and Games

A friend of mine has an application on the iPhone called Flipbook, that allows you to create custom animations from creating frames and playing them. For example, with this, he can load a picture of him standing by a tree, and frame by frame draw a creature that comes up and devours his head in the picture or something (he's crazy, I know). Similar to drawing an animation in the corners of a book and flipping through it fast so it looks like it's moving.
What I'm wondering is, are there any apps that do this on Android?
Thanks in advance.

[APP] [updated] 4x4 Gyrometer/Inclinometer/Landmeter

Hello friends.
I am looking for an application for measuring car x and y tilt for offroad uses with 4x4 vehicle. Only one suitable app I found is the Kai's water level with its gyrometer feature, but this is very small and in my case I don't need bubbles,so I want to get a software to do my job,but with much larger indicator, angles and warnings as this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QegwIr4dle8
Is there anybody here, who can mix both functionalities of these softwares for me(cause I am not skilled with C)to one application? Super graphic effects aren't necessary.
Thanks in advance.
Very cool idea. I found this http://sites.google.com/site/srlappsproject/home/on-the-level-app its for android but looks cool.
This is very ideal, but for iPhone

In truth that's not a difficult app to write, however, I think you'll have issues if you are planning on using it on the move, as the sensor only measures the gravity that it perceives, so if you move the phone around, it gets terribly confused as to where "down" is.
I'm guessing you want to know that an incline of over x degrees is likely to cause the vehicle to tip, etc, but if you are bumping over rough ground, then you'll never get an accurate reading anyway IMHO.
Cheers,
Steve.
Well,I know, that the sensor reacts also for acceleration, because normally it measures inertial forces and the result is not depended only on the gravity. Anyway,it should be okay, because I need it for very slow motion of the car in difficult terrain and I want to see,if my tilt angle(especially to side) is in tolerance, because I don't want to flip the car on the roof. Are you skilled with this "easy" programming?
I would be happy to do the graphics for it just tell me what you need.

I wouldn't necessarily say "skilled", but I wrote the Touch Incall Screen Tweak which turns on/off the screen during a call based on the orientation of the phone, so I'm familiar with working with the accelerometer.
Cheers,
Steve.
Okay,I will prepare demo application tomorrow for PC. I want to have the functionality of the software in video, but with comparable graphics as Kai's bubble level gyrometer(visible horizont). It will be lonely one application of its type on the world,so you can be rich.
Maybe a little something like this. The buttons at the bottom would change color depending on the alarm setting for each angle. You could change that setting by pressing the corresponding button. The numbers in the buttons would give you the actual ° reading.
Just a thought.
Ok, I pulled a stupid moment, there would only be 2 axis, Yaw and Tilt. I was thinking 3D
Also the Waterlevel app found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=411550 has the open source files posted with it, may save some time.
For me is enough to have just 2 axis. The front-end angle and side angle. The image posted before is quiet perfect, but we should have 4 buttons for X-warning,X-max,Y-warning-Y-max,when I hit one of them,I will be able to adjust it. Of course some notifications for these warnings are welcomed as well as angle value visible on the screen all the time.
Next thing what is also welcomed is the power-on ability to prevent auto-dim/off the display. All the things should be visible from the driver's place, when the phone is fixed on the dashboard,so the fonts should be big enough and of course the calibration function to be present.
With this picture you have saved me lot of time spended with programming the PC demo-now isn't needed, because all features are explained.
Anyway, thank you for your help and willingness.
Something more like this? Then pressing the X or Y button would take you to a setup page that you could set warning sounds for yellow or red and you could also set degrees for the setpoints of yellow warning and red warning for each axis.
Quiet perfect!
Can you enlarge the degree fonts and locate them to the bottom corners nearby the circle? Also the labels "Actual" are not necessary. Into the top corners maybe you can locate Calibration button and options/exit(if it will be fullscreened). The warning sounds is also not bad idea...
Like this?
Absolutely perfect!!!
Well done mate.
Now just make it working and it will be super. Are you able to make it alive?
Sorry I do not have that talent, wish I did.
Oh,what a shame. I'll try to take some developers here...
I think this needs moved to the developers thread.
Please, make this dream come true! I'm looking for this kind of software too!

Wallpaper resolution

I've noticed poor quality of some images used for wallpapers and think I may understand why. Our phone's resolution is 320x480 but when you use a launcher with "x" number of screens, you seemingly need to multiply 320 by "x", since the image is stretched across screens.
Is that correct ?
From my understanding, you use the 320 x 480 for lock screen images and 640 x 480 for the Wallpapers. If it is any bigger than that, it won't do a lot of good because the Wallpaper selector only lets you use that much. Otherwise, let's say you have a 1024 x 768 picture or whatever, once you select that to use, it will give you a box that you have to expand to cover the picture. It will not expand large enough to encompass this, but rather will just do as much as it can and create more of a zoom in effect for your selection. This would also probably result in less than desireable picture quality.
the wall paper is not stretched to fit a specific number of screens......... the wall paper remains at 640......... the number of screens simply changes the distance of travel across the wallpaper....... this is why the wallpaper overlaps from screen to screen........ you do not see an entirely new portion of the wallpaper on each screen...... the amount of overlap changes with the number of screens
640 wide on a 3 screen layout..... main sees 160-480... left sees 0-320.... right sees 320-640
640 wide on 5 screen layout...... main sees 160-480... far left sees 0-320... near left sees 80-400.... near right sees 240-560..... far right sees 320-640
hope that clarifies it a little bit

Ahhh, that does make sense and I do recall seeing "overlap", like you suggest.
Reasons I asked was that I had used a black-carbon-fiber wallpaper that appeared to be zoomed on the phone. It was pixellated and poor quality. When I look at it in the Gallery or on my PC though, it's nice looking. Also, I had downloaded a few wallpapers that were in fact 640x480, so silly me re-sized them to 320x480, then was disappointed in how they looked.
I do still wish it had the ability to down-size pics as needed. It could still use the selection rectangle to select what part of the image to use.

Panoramic photos?

I know you can take panoramic photo's with the camera on the phone by taking multiple photos..
But is there an app like on the Taylor swift commercial that you just sweep the camera around the room?
Not that I have seen, but why? That feature works perfectly in the camera, you don't really need an app for this.
I'm pretty sure its basically the same thing. The Samsung camera software just gives you a green box to follow and makes a camera sound when you reach it... you're still sweeping from left to right in real time.
Any way to get higher res panorama with the stock camera? The panorama is 640x480 photos stitched together.

The phone does this with the built in app. You can move the phone in a sweeping motion and it will take 8 sequential shots. This can be done in either landscape or portrait mode.
When sweeping the camera a green outline will appear in the area of the next shot to help you properly align the photo. When the outlined area is centered on the screen then the phone automatically captures the next image...wash, rinse, repeat.
I have been using this feature a lot lately since the pictures are gorgeous and it is awesome for group photos. A fun thing I like to do is have someone move along to the next shot and pose so you get a strange clone effect of one person throughout the scene.

Have you tried the action shooting mode? Does a very similar thing.
I too would like to see an app that used higher res images (640x480 really does not cut it)
I would also like to see something that could take 360 degree photos, not just moving the camera left to right but also up and down.
Well that's just the sensor setting, the final resolution will be much greater than that in one direction. Holding the phone vertically will give a nice photo. But I would like a 1080 vertical mode for my dual monitor setup and no black lines.

Yeah, but a panorama that's about 550px tall and has fairly obvious seams makes it less of a big falk that the phone stitched out all by itself. Oh well, if you want it nice you really need a camera with a proper mount, anyway, and preferably raw output, and striving on a computer...

Does anyone have the straight poop on wallpaper for HC?

I am having trouble with using custom wallpaper and need some input from you fine people. I understand our tab has a resolution of 1024X600 so plain, dumb redneck logic tells me a wallpaper image of that size will fill the screen perfectly and completely. However, that is not the case apparently.
If I put a 1024X600 image on the tab and select it as wallpaper, I am presented with a photo-cropping interface that FORCES me to crop the picture. OK, no biggie, it is high-quality at 300dpi, so I do that and it includes the whole picture I want displayed.
The problem comes when you actually go back to the home screen, the picture has been blown up so damn large that it only shows a small piece of the image.
Does anybody have any real specs on what format the wallaper needs to be in?
I've searched forever regarding this as well...and can't find a straigt answer. What's strange to me is that if you click on a picture on the web, and select set as wallpaper, it will be formatted relatively accurately (there's a little cropping, but not much) if you save the same photo, and set it as wallpaper through the setup screen, it's all zoomed in and cropped horribly.
I've used an app called Wallaby to set wallpapers. you can tell it to NOT resize the image you select, and it works OK.
Basically, what I've found is that even though the resolution is 1024X640, you actually need an image that's more line 1024 wide by 1920...the reason for this is that when you are presented with the "crop" screen, you select a box, but it will only actually show the top 1/3rd of that box as your wallpaper. If you make the box smaller, it will select the top 1/3rd AND zoom in. the odd part for my is that the box is not axis specific...you are only able to crop vertically AND horizontally, not one or the other.
If you pull out a wallpaper image from a rom, you'll see that it's REALLY tall, and the bottom 2/3rds are pretty much blank...that's how it needs to be made in order to look right on the tablet.
so, if you can locate an image that's 1024X1920, it will not zoom in, but it will only show the top 1/3rd of the image on the screen as wallpaper...
Hit up the market for MultiPicture Live Wallpaper. Free app. Easiest way to get the most of your wallpapers back in landscape. Most of the current versions of android are based around Portrait orientation so it crops to fit across a few smaller windows.
For those with newer devices that are landscape oriented, we get screwed. lol But, gladly this app is free to get what you need done at the very least. Has some other interesting features too, need be, but a lot are paid features, I think.
Hope this helps.
Flick ur pics from the market does a really fine job also.

I actually have had multi-picture live since I first got the tab. It does something very strange with BoS. Multi-picture provides for screens 1-7 but the device shows screens 8-14 so it won't even configure correctly at all. I am sure it is the difference in res for screen.
Actually, I have been able to get both 1024X1024 and 1024X600 images to work with the regular wallpaper chooser. The problem comes after waking it up from sleep, the image is borked.
Tried Wallaby - absolutely worthless for me. Wallpaper Wizardrii is ok, but still difficult to work with.

[SOLVED] Pic quality degrades on Live tile...

I assign pics to my most frequent contacts and pin their tiles to the home screen. When I first get the new pic saved for them and showing on the tile it looks great...nice and clear. After time passes (not sure how long) the pic quality starts degrading. I found a thread here about someone's wallpaper doing that. Is my problem related? If so will that HD Wall app fix it? I'm just OCD about how stuff looks on my screen and if it looks like crap when I know it didn't before I gotta fix it
*EDIT* Just noticed that thread with I linked was for Android =/ gah nm
I was googling and ended up finding an article that mentioned Live tiles are 173px by 173px so I re-sized an image (ended up being 173x174 to preserve its aspect ratio) and assigned it to one of my contacts that has a tile on the home screen...guess we'll see if that keeps the image quality from degrading. Unless someone else knows for sure why this happens it'll be trial and error for now. So far the image is fine after an hour...only time will tell

So far the re-sized (smaller) Live tile images have remained in good shape many many hours after the quality of the bigger images would start degrading. For all who care, I consider this work-around good enough for me
