Battery goes from 90% to 0% - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Anyone have the problem that the battery status is incorrect? Sometimes within the hour of fully charing my device the screen starts to flicker and then device turns it self off.
When I restart and charge it the battery bar shows almost emtpy and goes to 100% after ten minutes in only one step.
I am using Sakajati's latest ROM. Only modification I did was replace IE with the previous version.

1. Flash a stock ROM see if still problem.
2. Try a different battery see if still problem.
Both will test hardware or ROM related.

Your battery is most likely dead.

yeah I agree your battery is most likely dead. I had the same problem with my first tilt. It died out cos I accidentally overcharged it a few times.

how did you overcahrge your tilt? i would like to avoid doing that.
thanks

You can't, the phone would just stop charging it.

i know the phone is smarter than that, but i figured he used an off brand charger or something like that, just wanted to make sure.

If you use too hot of a charger it can hurt the battery a little bit....
I know that a common cause of this problem beyond the battery is that the phone's calibration to read the battery level gets thrown off. To reset the calibration, turn the phone off, do a battery pull, wait a good 30 seconds, put it back in, then without turning the device back on, put it on the charger and let it chill for a couple hours. When all is said and done, you should have a fully charged battery and a recalibrated Kaiser.

I would not be to quick to blame the battery here but yes it could be that What SPL do you have? If the device acts dodgy whit screen freeze it could be that. I would try some other whit recomended rom and give it a spin before changing battery (ofc. short version is to borrow a fresh one to eliminate).

battery acting weird

hey everyone my sister has a milestone and she is having trouble with the phone battery. she says that she fully changes the phone and then at any point, the phone shows the sign that the battery is discharged and then reboots... then the battery shows the charge again, I tried moving from stock to cyanogen which took the problem away for some days but today it happened again. what can it be help!
hmm. i dunno. anyone?
the weird thing is that she just got it back from warranty... the screen was not working
Sounds like a battery problem. I once had my phone show 1% battery-level for like 7 hours (!) before it shut down. Some other time it would show 100% even though it just had been charged for minutes (starting at 5%). I fixed both issues by recalibrating the battery (search the forum, there's lots of info, most OR even have a script for that). I also leave the phone connected to the charger a couple of hours longer even after it says it's fully charged.
But if the phone actually reboots even though the battery has been fully charged, it really sounds like a hardware problem.
try a new battery
Before buying new batteries, just try calibration.
For me, the mentioned case of shutting down with a so-called empty battery was happening only with a stock 2.1.
Since then this issue never occurred again. So a faulty battery is not necessarily the first answer.

[Q] Battery faulty?

Hi,
My battery life/indicator has been behaving very strangely since yesterday, so I'm wondering if the battery is dying. I know about battery calibration, and attempting it hasn't solved anything. I haven't flashed any firmware recently.
When I plug in the charger while on, it almost immediately tells me it's 100% charged, but the number displayed will still be something low, like 50ish. When I unplug it, the number stays. It drops extremely quickly, to around 1-2%, then 0% and turns itself off. After turning it on again, it may rise to 10%, but drop again to 0% shortly thereafter. After a couple of times of turning it back on, it will refuse to turn on. Charging only seems to work when phone is off, but even then the charge won't last much more than a couple of hours of idling - no calls, no web, nothing.
I've tried charging to full while phone is off (drained), and removing battery stats via cwm before booting up. Doesn't help.
Is my battery faulty? It's a very sudden problem, and my battery has been lasting me for days before this happened
So, I got a new battery. The problem persists. I've tried a factory reset/wiping battery stats, but it's still that way. Could this be a hardware problem somehow?
Any advice is greatly appreciated!!
Which fimware are you on? In your case I'd go back to a stock firmware from samfirmware.com and test once again. If the problem persits, you likely have a hardware issue and I'd have it swapped for a new phone whilst within warranty.
BTW: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21612299
I'm using tweaky rom, JVS. I'm not too sure what the local firmware is (Singapore), the one I had before I switched to custom was 2.1, and I don't feel too safe flashing bootloaders when the phone is prone to turning off...

yeah, you are absolutely right. Have you tried betterbatterystats? ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809 ) It will show you wakelocks when your phone should be idling.
Did it help ?
Mate, out of curiosity I was wondering if your issue got resolved.
Also, you should check what is draining off your battery.
I tried reading elsewhere and found "Battery Monitor Widget" could be useful for you to identify this.
Nope, still same problem. It's not a wakelock issue, because the battery dies /so/ fast. I can literally charge it to 100%, unplug the charger, and in 30 seconds it says 0% and turns itself off. The phone itself isn't running hot or anything, and seems to be just idling. [Edit: To clarify, it also charges to 100% in about 10 minutes or so. I'm guessing that for some reason the phone thinks the battery is 'full' and stops charging, leading to the quick drop. I've no idea what could cause this though]
I'm hoping that maybe it's a software issue now since the new battery isn't working either (the battery is probably a fake since i got it for cheap, but even then it should last at least a few hours before draining), and that the phone is confused with battery voltage levels or something when I put the new one in.
Anyway, I flashed JVU stock, didn't even root, and will be charging the new battery overnight while phone is off. It says 100%, but gonna leave it on charger anyway. Hopefully if I wake up tomorrow it'll be working :/
If that doesn't work, will be flashing DXJV9 (My original firmware was dxj4), and hope that it's the official one here. Then bring it to a service center and act dumb and hope they can fix it i guess...
Service center replaced motherboard. There goes a hundred bucks :/

[Q] Something strange with battery

My galaxy ace is totaly crazy now.
I took it from charger, after 20 minutes it 50%, after 5 minutes i get warning and it reboots. After booting it show me warning and again reboot. After 5-10 times it just blinking. I cant go into recovery or even turnt it of.
I pull out battery, wait a minute, insert back. Then I connect charger and boot device...and the battery is 100%! what is going on?
i've already:
re-flashed 3 firmwares
cleaned battery stats
here you can see how big is battery drain and a fact that battery is nearly 100% after connecting charger.

Hard to know but it could be that the voltage from the battery is so low or fluctuating so much that the power switch is unable to function.
Similar to your TV remote where you sometimes need to jiggle the batteries slightly to make it work properly.
The first thing I would try and rule out is the battery... it's a relatively easy and inexpensive fix if that's the problem (ebay is your friend).

Don't excessively flash ROMs
revert to Stock ROM for the timebeing
And don't Delete/wipe battery stats because after every successful 100% charge the battery_Stats.bin file gets deleted and regenerated.
so deleting that bin file wont help
next, check if the contacts of your battery are intact and that they are not covered with dust
when you connect the charger cable to your phone then check if the cable is properly inserted or not,if no then insert it properly
If none of this solves your problem then i must say mate that you need to change the battery.
are you sure that it is a battery problem? :-?

I can take that into consideration but the analogy you gave doesn't seem to be that convincing. Sometimes it may be due to the unclean android system that causes all this & I best know how it drained my battery in less than 30 minutes but I still use the same & it lasts a day now. But it may even be the battery or may be anything else. Who knows? !:screwy:
@OP : Try a full wipe & a reflash. If that doesn't help, go to the sammies or buy a new battery.

Xperia Z battery behaving crazy, tough to charge it.

Hi everyone,
Since few days my Xperia Z battery is behaving crazily. It goes up and down. Sometimes when I disconnect the charger, like say at 60 percent, it suddenly goes up or goes down and when I again reconnect the charger it again goes back to 60 percent. Sometimes it doesn't charge only. Sometimes it starts charging, then all of a sudden it stops charging then starts by itself. :/
What's wrong with my device, I don't know. Need help.

Maybe you should try to charge it fully while it's off? Might not do anything but it might help You might just have a damaged/faulty battery.

Well, sometimes batteries just give out and start acting weird. How long have you had the phone? Sometimes as your battery ages, it just starts doing weird thing's. Wouldn't be a problem if we could change the battery

Give out within 7 months? Yeah, wouldn't have been a problem if we could change batteries. But that's the sad part of the story.
I am thinking of switching to Note 3 now. Charges fast, has a bigger battery, stays long. That's exactly what I need.
faster charging kills battery faster
Hi There, this may sound stupid but have you checked the lead/charger, is it an aftermarket one? I have also had similar probs but it was the conections. also try a system wipe and a full charge. and wait for the phone battery to fully flatten then repeat. always charge past 100 percent if you have installed a fresh rom or done a system wipe.

This is true, however sometimes the battery can indicate it is fully charged when it isn't, ( battery stats can be wrong ). I always leave my phone on charge when I sleep and have never had any probs my xperia t is now about 18 months old.
Thanks everyone. I guess I have somehow damaged the battery way too early. I used to use it while charging also. May be the reason of it's present Behaviour.
Right now I am not letting the battery go below 50% and have found out that it stays good, charges, no hiccups
But as soon as the battery goes below fifty it starts behaving too badly, takes time to start charging.

I'm so paranoid about using my phone while it's charging I avoid it as much as possible.
Since you've only had it for 7 month's or so, you should still have the manufactures warranty. You should send it in for service. I had a problem with my old ZL last year, and I ended up getting a new phone.

Battery Issue - Unable to boot after 0%

My phone has water damage. I currently have it in a bag of rice to hopefully bring it back to life. After a few hours I plugged it in to see if that would help, and I it had a strange activity. The LED in the phone handset was lit and green. I never rooted it to enable the LED. Any advice would be great!
PS: Sorry if this post is not the most coherent. I am currently very hungover, and having problems functioning. Also, I have no idea how my phone got wet! Happy Sunday to me!
Try a battery reset
The Dirtydee Z3
The led turns on when the battery is so low that the display can't turn on to show that its charging.
Device should turn on after sometime

Testing that now. Thanks for the heads up!
Fingers (and toes) crossed!!
You should've let it rest on rice for like one day.
On the good side, the moto x is kind of water proof.

*Update*
The screen is now on and showing 0% battery. It has been plugged in for hours now with no change in level. I was able to get into FastBoot, however any option I choose results in the phone rebooting back to the battery charge level screen.
Thanks for the help!
*Update 2*
I plugged my phone into my cars 2.1 amp charger and after 20min or so it showed 100% battery. The phone booted, however it did not complete and turned off. When it did It read 0% once more. I have tried volume down and power for 3 mins with no result. Any more tips?
* update 3*
I pulled the back over off and held the battery ribbon down. LIFE!! Phone displayed 100% and it was running fine. However, when I removed it from power it shut off immediately.

I thought so too. I let it charge over night while it was cycling the boot screen, and when I awoke it was perfect. Battery 100% and turned on without issue. I understand letting your battery hit 0% is bad, but having it completely malfunction for 24+ hrs is rather poor play on Motorola's behalf.
How do you know that it's moto's fault?
Perhaps there was still some water left in your device?
This took longer to dry and caused the malfunction...
Don't judge so quickly!
I tell you this, because I had a motorola x with the same problem, the solution was to change the battery. Solved, try another battery
Dropping phone in water and having issues after is Moto's fault....? :silly:
I'll add... Water can and usually does wreak havoc on these things. Anything can go wrong after. Usually I'd say move on. Don't waste time or money trying to fix it.
You maybe were lucky. :good: But to suggest it's Moto's fault is crazy. Lol My X has died many times and 30 seconds on the charger and it boots. Anything you experienced was from the water.... Not a defect.

You put your phone in water, then turned it on again after only trying to dry it for a VERY short time. Bit amazing it even worked, and your complaining because it worked but only after drying?
Jesus man.
Pretty sure LIthium Ion batteries don't like going down near zero. Even when your phone says zero% and the phone automatically turns off it still isn't completely discharged.
I've let my nexus 7, and game controllers sit unused for a while. When you try to use them again they need a really long charge before they will work again.
The water probably put a load across the battery and nearly completely discharged it.
I actually just went thru this. I did the old school battery calibration using NeMa's app in the play store. Says to discharge 100%.. Phew lol. I was stressed. I had the same problems as above
