Compare WM 6.5 ROMS - Touch HD Windows Mobile ROM Development

Can anybody compare Miri's & David's ROMs? I have tried both, but both has some or the other non-functional applications. For e.g, the QuickGPS doesn't work properly on both the ROMs, even after several soft resets it works inconsistently. Audio booster does not work on David's ROM but it does on Miri's ROM, on the other hand YouTube does not work on Miri's ROM but works perfectly on David's ROM. I want a ROM where at least all the cooked applications are functional. Similarly Miri's ROM has TF3D included which works perfectly but the standard version of David's ROM does not have it, and the Manilla version is too sluggish to be able to use on a daily basis when I use my HD as the primary phone and do lots of serious dealings where inconsistency can be a problem.
So I was hoping if some people could compare these 2 ROMs and give their opinion here.

Your fishing for a thread closure !!!!!

He has removed half the things that I use on a daily basis, like youtube, PDF reader, Google maps & many other things...

onkolog roms are neat and really great, you have to try it to feel the beauty of "lite"ness.
Adding to that, you can install anything you like on top of it.
The advantage is that you will not have anything (well almost) that you do not need.
Nevertheless if you do not want to install the standard apps found in other ROM manually, then you should stick with the ROMs prepared by others.

I have nearly all of them you have asked for installed and all of them work flawlessly
Just that we have to use our own cabs to install

I had tried and used Dutty's Rom and it is almost perfect...in all features. Try it and you can comment.

I'm looking for WM 6.5 ROMs...

I personally prefer Miri's builds, though I have a weird Opera symbol bug and sometimes I think the phone could be faster (that's to do with me installing bad apps though). David's I tried once or twice both 6.1 and 6.5 didn't like either. I think it may have had something to do with the many preinstalled applications.

Complete "Best of Roms" for xperia out yet? :P

Hi, it's just so manny posts about all Roms out there. Which one should I pick for best results? I want it to be the fastest *doh*.
anyhow, do you guys recommend me to install a new cab, since I am using the new firmware(or what's it called) that SE released earlier this year. Don't know what to call it. That one, and alot of panels and tweaks. It feels like my xperia is "too much random applications-installed" right now, and I'd like a new fresh one with everything pre-installed. No overflod of unnessesary appz.
But with all the good out there, yet released. Such as all the Panels and great appz of course.
So, which panel do you recommend and why? (Fast and with alot of pre-installed stuff, settings and tweaks..)
Thx all for a wonderful oppertunity to fix the Xperia, since SE don't want to =)
(edit: Swedish rom would be nice)
I've tried a lot of the roms on here and i'd say the current best are either:
norti's nX1i v1.02 [LiteSpeed][UC][WWE/SPA/GER][R2A] - Best lite build with no TouchFLO and good UC pack.
itje's [WWE] Touch-IT v4.0 "Landscape" RC1.1 - TouchFLO lots included in build but no UC.
However once you know how to flash your phone it's worth trying out a few and seeing which you like best.
okej, thanks for the advice! I've read a bit about flashing the phone. Just to be clear, everyting on it dissapear right? (contact and such) Maybe I can just make a backup =) (any good backup sync appz, or just the orginal SE?)

download ppcpimbackup... do a search... itll backup sms/contact/appoiintments etc
btw, what's UC?
Tried the secound one you recommended, TouchIT. Sure, it's nice but damn slow.. :/ and no tweaks!
i think that jack 2.6 the best is.... totally bug free (except the known limitation on HD camera and TF3D 2) fast, stable, battery life is ok! youtube works, footprints works... tom tom works fine.. great rom!!
itje's [WWE] Touch-IT v4.0 "Landscape" RC1.1
Nothing Better for x1 developed yet...
UC = User Customization. It's a program that automaticaly installs progams / copies files when you first boot the new rom. You can tell it what to install etc by editing the config file.
Touch-IT v4.0 B3 was one of the best TouchFLO impementations i've tried but a little slow running panels. I also tried an older version of Jacks Rom but had a few crashes and found some apps needed registering.
I prefer to use the sbp panel rather than TouchFLO so I'm now using nX1i v1.02 [LiteSpeed] which is a very lite ROM with UC that allows you to pick and choose what addtional stuff you want installing.
It's so easy to flash the rom using the SD card method its worth trying a few to see what you like. I found a few nice features on different roms then applied my favorite bits from all of them to nX1i v1.02 [LiteSpeed].

your right and it is fast and stable
I use Jack's V2.1 Light, great base ROM to start from if you don't like Touchflo! I've kept it pretty light, installed a few tweaks and added PointUI 2 (Black Theme with a custom X1 wallpaper, starting work on an X1 theme now). Runs like a dream!
Before that i was running the base cMEX ROM, but i changed when the new firmware came out (there was no Touchflo-free version of cMEX running that firmware at the time). Also tried itje's ROMs, but they're not really my cup of tea. Very complete and stable, but not as fast as what i'm running now.
I just tried the Lite-rom, didnt like it at all. Going back to TouchIT. it's a shame that none of above recommended has Swedish as a alternative
Thx all for comments! Still looking for the ultimate one!

I think there is no best rom.
Everyone's work is perfect.
I used some of them,I like itje's best.
Although I think itje's is perfect,I can not say it's best...

My opinion too. Also iGO8 works well.

Can anyone cook me a rom? Be happy to buy a crate of beer for someone who can?

Ok......
I bought my X1 in Taiwan, with the intention of flashing to an english rom, because i obviously haven't a clue about chinese, and english langue ones are not available here.
I've been flashing custom roms for a while, both on the X1 and on my old Wallaby and Ef's but havent found anything that ever really suits my needs.
I like the windows 6.5 roms, but WVGAfix doesnt seem to work with any of the builds despite saying it does which kinda makes all 6.5 obsolete for me because of the amount of software that doesnt work with a WVGA screen.
Which leaves 6.1. I have tried loads different 6.1 builds, but find there are certain things that always stop me wanting to keep them.
So my question is can anyone build a rom that is almost a light rom, that just has a few essential elements built in. One that might last me a couple of months, or at least until Mobile 7 is released as opposed to reflashing every few days. I have looked into cooking, but simply dont have the time with work to really get good at it. It drives me nuts having to reinstall everything and sync contacts every time i flash a new rom.
If i was going to build my own ROM i would be looking for a lite and fast 6.1 build that has to me what i would consider some essential apps cooked in.
Manilla
USB popup
Advanced config
Radio
Audio Booster
Htorch
All the finger friendly features
Xperia R3A Camera to replace the HTC camera within manilla.
MSN Push mail (not messanger)
Specifically i would really like to avoid all the things that are updated regularly, such opera, youtube, facebook, google maps etc, and all the things which would seem to me to be a waste of space / speed, such as
MP3 trimmer, panel manager and additional panels.
Basically a stripped lite Rom, with manilla and its associated features.
I have tried flashing lite roms, and installing manilla, but its a real hastle, and never gets as good a results as some of the outstanding chefs here. I can't be alone in wanting a rom like this? so i guess my last question is....is anyone up for the task or am i about to get flamed for something i should be doing myself?

hee hee, I will recommend yrs and Itje's if he is asking for 6.5.
Oddly enough i have just tried Jacks 3.6 medium rom and its very fast.....i like it......keep testing for a few days and see how it goes, but looks real good so far!!
Jack - You're right in that i suppose with manilla in it isnt a light rom, but i would define anything that goes into a light rom as something that is necessary for the operation of the phone. As windows mobile 6.1 is BUTT ugly and finger unfriendly, i would classify manilla or equivalent as something that is pretty necessary!

I tend to think otherwise, you're right with wm6.1 being finger unfriendly. And there is lots of stuff (ie manila, spb mobile shell, eg) that can help you with that. And the choice is rather personal, something you would add later into a lite rom according to your needs.
(little remark, I'm not a manila fan so maybe a bit judged)

Most stable & bugfree winmo 6.5 based Custom ROM?

i see that there are many 6.5 based roms around here, but which of them are more stable and most bugfree?
some includes the nk.exe (native kernel), others not yet, some seems to still have few issues and patches are coming around. some includes Manilla and one not (and I want manilla TF3D).
vote here ...
i forgot to add an option for 'others', but seems these are the main english 6.5 based roms...
voted
This is not fair vote, my personal opinion
As you said” some includes the nk.exe (native kernel), others not yet, some seems to still have few issues and patches are coming around. some includes Manilla and one not “ .
Of our seniors using different philosophy to cook and ROMs not identical
I suggest voting in which ROM you are using TODAY, with a list of all masters
odd poll
with some now using the nk it seems like features and graphics are more of an issue at this point.
i use energy just because i like the graphics
shrug
after trying most of the roms out there, I think gtrab's barebone is one of the most bugfree avaliable right now.
this is in part because it's mainly a 6.5 stock rom, not many addons (yes, it has some enhancements) but the rom is nearly clean of addons so, in it's basic form it's nearly bugfree.
most of the bugs on the roms comes from the HTC manila components added.
i'm now on gtrab's xtreme 6.5 and am most impressed. i love the way the rom retain the unique xperia features - especially the dialer . the rom is fast and stable and bug free.
I have tried many roms and I will say Wild child WCX 6.5 series most stable roms, however I can't vote since it is not included in list
I am checking for a rom with Manilla TF3D, now i flashed to Valkyrie 2.1 but still not much convinced, ok it is super fast, but i get random crashes or blocks....
before with SmaBergs TouchX 10 i had to restart once every 3-4 days, now every few hours...
if i pass to a Manilla free rom, are there rhodium manilla cabs?

Tried NRGZ28 Standard ROM? Is 6.5 with Manila, and a very good ROM!
I tried Valkyrie 2.1, but after 2 days of using it, i was not much satisfied, random blocks with black screen, TouchFLO crashes, and other minor things. I agree that it's very fast, but not yet suitable for everyday use.
Wanted to go to EnergyROM, but the thread discuseed some unfixed bugs.
so for now, i went back to TouchX 10.1 by Smaberg, fastest and most stable 6.1 ROM i have ever used....
mcbyte_it if you don't need panels v-lite 4.0 is very good. i moved to v-lite 4.0 - so far so very good. i love the option on what to install by editing the UC.
@Kitman:
No I don't need and will never use panels, but i really want Manilla TF3D, from what i read VLite does't have manilla TouchFLO, or am i wrong ??
It does not have Manilla

have you tried all the winmo 6.5 roms available? have you ever tried one of wild child's roms? if you have you would have known that wild child's roms are by far the most bug free. why start a thread based on what you have used........... i try every rom that is released and i am afraid the one's you have mentioned are far from bug free. NRG has a good rom but not without its issues. i read all the threads and try all the roms so i know whats what! only true way to gauge whats bug free and start a thread like that!
I tried all the ROM's mentionned and I went back to EnergyROM from 2009/07/03...
Most stable (for me, YOUR milleage WILL vary!)
It's fast if you tweak it a bit... and it doesn't make my (capricious?) phone go into a boot loop like Wild Child's... (Thank Zod for Boot Loader reflashing! )
I'm now waiting for a new EnergyROM based on 23004+ but I'll probably gve all the major ones a try again when the newer versions come out...
This boot loop you mention(usually is accompanied with this error "upgrade rom code error please try again"OR it will get stuck at the boot screen)...this would be due to your connection to your computer...not usually related to a ROM.....can tell you it was a bad flash....had to speak on this one...this has NEVER been reported BY ANYONE with usage of my ROMs. So before stating it was due to my work,if you had to reflash your bootloader then thats not related to my work....
Regards,
WC

The Valkyrie Firestorm 2.4 is nice and bug free.
Multiple softwares installed and no problems.
Most stable 6.5 I've tried.
Personally I think if smaberg made touchx 10 xtreme with winmo 6.5 it would be the perfect rom, touch x 10 xtreme is by far the most bug free and fastest rom on xda developers site, just a shame it's not winmo 6.5
Honestly I don't think it's fair to have such a thread, however if starting such a poll then in my opinion ALL 6.5 roms shall be included and it's up to members to vote accordingly...
My experiences with some ROMs:
1. Touch IT v12 by itje- Nice UI(Touchflo),most stable(no hangs) and fastest although some apps that comes with the ROM does not function properly.
2. Valkyrie Firestorm V2.5 by agent47- Nice UI, you can choose between touchflo or basic WM6.5, hangs at least every 3 hours but most of the apps work that comes with the ROM. eats up battery fast.
3.XTREME TITANIUM TF3D-KILLER XPERT [SEX1 R3] by gtrab - Most Xperiaish rom, stable also, most apps and panel work, eats a lot of battery also.

Looking for a specific sort of ROM...

Searching appears to have failed me, but I'm looking for a up to date, optimized (recent drivers etc), Manila/Sense LACKING 6.1 ROM for the Xperia.
Could anyone provide some guidance with that? I can't really find any
EDIT: To clarify, thats a Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM without manila or sense UI
Maybe you should look at the forum? Searching specific terms won't give any good results back.. These roms basically plague the forum, i dont know how you could not find ANY

Do you want X1 panel manager installed? Any X1 panels?

the stock roms aren't too bad, but i can only think of two 6.1 roms without manilla/ sense;
norti nx1i 1.04

i've used this and can recommend it
bxsteez lite 1.05

otherwise, as mentioned it could be worth trying some of the established 6.1 touchflo roms and just disable touchflo. 'pctech4u' and 'touch x' come to mind. check out the rom library, ther might be more
I am on an own-cooked ROM which I can upload for you, or anybody else.
WM6.1 build 21051, no manila, no panels, some little apps that are useful for me and some selected HTC staff like enlarge start menu, volume control, FM-radio etc
I am using it for the last 2 months and it's very fast and stable. Perfect for SPB MS users.
I cannot provide any support though. No much time. Normally you won't need any.

6.5.X Titanium-only ROMs

I always prefer Titanium ROMs over Manila ones. I've been using Miri's xtralight for a long time and love them. The only bad thing is that they're in 6.5 (the 6.5.X test ROMs are somewhat buggy and not available anymore).
I have tried two 6.5.X Titanium only ROMs (energy and cleanrom) and both are still quite heavily customized. Can anyone recommend any lightweight 6.5.X ROMs? Thanks a lot

Hey mate, I also love titatium rom. I am currently using KWBR Titanium WinMo 6.5 21907 and it's really wonderful. there is no bug
You can download it from here :

I heard kwbr's ROMs are very fast and stable. However I'm looking for 6.5.X (preferably COM5). For 6.5 ROMs I use Miri's xtralight.
Actually I kinda gave up the search I started to cook my own based on OS kitchen 23529. It still has some bugs but generally works. If you would like to try let me know

Second to that, only decent clean 6.5.x rom I've found so far is the last Miri Titanium. Others claim to be clean but run using a lot more RAM than said Miri.
Cheers
You can download it here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?tynyjmizjm3
It's a minimal ROM and only contains SYS and essential EXT (excluding EzInput, USBtoPC Popup, Device Information, Clear Storage and QuickGPS because I don't use them that much and including them resulting in some bugs I haven't got time to fix). Refer to the attachment for package list.
For IME I use Swype but can also use EzInput 2.1. For theme I suggest Condor GT Black (included) or Joshoon's HD Mini.
If you find some bug let me know or ask me for the kitchen and fix it yourself
