i installed an old memory card and it installed all the mp3s on it into the library, which is fair enough but when i deleted the songs i didn't want, they remained in the library and i cant see how to remove them. can anyone help?
Soft-reset.
tried that, still there!
i'm tempted to do a hard reset but i dont want to have to reinstall everything everytime i remove an mp3

Try going into the standard windows mobile media player and select update library from the right soft menu.
it's the HTC Audio Manager library that's my problem, cant remove the tracks that don't exist anymore, wmplayer is fine!
I have just deleated a mp3 and my audio manager removed it, are you sure its not duplicated somewhere else on the card?

Don't know if this working, you can try the folowing:
1. Go to the root directory, "Application Data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\"
then rename "AudioManager_Eng.vol" to anything.
2. Softreset,
3. Go back to this folder, you will find there is a new AudioManager_Eng.vol generated, del the old one which you had rename to something else previously.
4. Check your library again, it should work
It is working on Diamond.

That worked great, thanks very much. My friend thinks one of my old mp3's must have had an older id tag and could have corrupted the database structure.
not pissed off with my TD2 now

Hello all. Just got my phone on Orange and I like it. I have been a Mac-user for the past 12 years so I am used to not tweaking my gadgets. Can someone explain how I install the CABs onto my Kaiser via either my G5 iMac or my intel Macbook. Many thanks
do'h not very sure, but you might want to try the missing sync, grab the latest version, it now supports win5 and 6. basically that's what you need to synch your mac and PDA, but not very sure if you can install 'em through it though
Now how do I find the installed CAB
OK I have downloaded a CAB onto the Kaiser via Missing Sync. (HTC album mui 0419.cab) So how do I now find it on the phone and activate it or any other CAB?
Thanks again
not that hard
I get that you're new, I am too, but try to figure this stuff out by yourself.
Bluetooth should work for getting files onto the phone (my docs/bluetooth)
When you sync to the phone, the PC version is that you see the phone on the schema/folder tree and can choose where to put it.
When you find the cab file, opening it will install it. Generally try to put system specific things on main memory and things like games on a storage card.
Look at some must have threads to find programs that you like and after you figure it out try a hard reset and reinstall things. That will let you keep a stable device.
As for ROMS, I would be careful of even thinking about flashing on a mac unless you find a thread telling you how to do it, you don't want a bricked device.
Remember to search the forums - it's worth your time.
Just mount the kaiser with missing sync. After that, drag and drop the file to a location that you can remember. Once you do that, just go to the file explorer in the kaiser, locate the file, and click. You should be all set.
what about a non-cab files? with an .exe extension, will it be installable trough missing sync?
from what I can remember, Missing Sync is really broken at the moment. (under 10.5).
To install a cab, you just use the tab next to syncronize, what is it, the file tab or somehing?
if it's a .cab, it will be loaded automatically. But make sure there's no spaces/irregular characters on the .cab, otherwise, it won't load the installation, and possibly, the file will not be uploaded at all. I think this is a missing sync bug.
Nope, you're going to have to pull the .CAB out of the .EXE file

hi chenga, mind to point me how to do so? because i am going to lose my XP system very soon
These songs (which are all horrible btw) are taking up about 10 megs of space on my Tilt. I tried deleting them through windows explorer on my pc but it said they were write protected. Then I tried deleting them through file explorer on my phone and tghe option to delete is greyed out. So I opened up WMP and deleted them from the playlist and then went back to file explorer and still its greyed out. Any ides?
You can delete the copies they make in the My Music folder, but you CANNOT delete the ones in windows. They are ROM files & hence protected. If they bug you that much you'll need to flash a new ROM.
Thanks. That's what I was afraid of. I just got everything setup the way I wanted but it looks like it's time to flash Dutty's rom. I've been wanting to do it for a while anyway

Which, because it isn't a ROM you created yourself, will contain another 10MB of stuff you don't want/use.
Hi,
Big problem :-(
I can not set any small mp3 as a ringtone. I have done hard reset and it did not help. Phone is clean and every time I try to set file as an mp3 I got msg:
I was not possible to copy file to My Doc/My souds.. (even when file is there!)Make sure you have enough free memory, etc...
What should I do - I had those file as ringtones while back with no porblem. I am running original software and currently nothing else :-(
Should is change ROM? I am no expert with this so I do not even how and to which one :-(

Copy the files into the "My Documents" folder in your SD card. If there isn't one, make one. Then select the ringtone in your sounds and notifications menu.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
You're welcome, glad we could help.

It has to do with the album art and\or the ID3 tags, I believe.
Do a search for "manila music stops after 3 seconds" and you'll find a few threads addressing this issue and the fixes for it.
PLS give me a link or something like that because i can't find nothing that can be useful on me HTC TD 2
Many different solutions with that search:
Here's one.
More here:
and the list goes on.
Those things didn't work for me,I've try also to copy mp3-s with activsync ,try with different sd card and the problem is there on new music tab also and on Duttys roms and all other with the new sense can you help me and is there solution except to back to older version of the rom?
Did you remove all of the album art and make sure all files are not read only?
Yes ,i did it few times, but the problem is still there .i've found one solution ,but it's stupid and useless-it's to put mp3-s in internal memory and remove the sd(only then it works) or to put max 3 mp-3s on sd

I don't remenber where is it in the registry, but you need to modify paths where your mp3 are, internal and memory card, in this case it's crash because where you put your mp3 on the memory card isn't the correct path in registry; do this with 6.5 and 2.5 sense.

Try this, in registry go to HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\Information\
albumart_update_failure= 0
albumart_update_success= 0
albumart_updating= 0
albumArtPath= Remove Value
available_storage_card= Storage Card;
With mp3s on SD card, set the following value to a specific song
path= (eg., \Storage Card\My Music\Songname.mp3)
Soft reset and see what happens.
This is not working
Try this:
With file explorer go to
My device\Application data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\
delete file "AudioManager_Eng.vol" and make a soft reset.

The last one should have fixed it.
You may want to consider a hard reset or refomat your SD card.
These are all the known fixes for this issue.
Sorry.
maybe you can check your mp3s one by one. i had nearly the same problem. the reason was one special mp3 album that made the player stop after some seconds/minutes. i deleted all the mp3s on my sdcard and copied them one by one / album by album on my sdcard and checked every time if the player stops after a while. at least i found the album / mp3s that were corrupted...

Hello guys ,like all of you i am a Htc fan and i had the same problem on my touch diamond...After many tryes i did solved this problem for me.
Try this and it should work and please post a reply if it works for you too
1-Go to youre music folder (path with all the music) and delete all the songs bigger than 10,5 Mb.
2-Go in device memory "Application Data"->"Htc"->"AudioManager_Eng" and there you will find a folder called "Playlists" and a file "AudioManager_Eng.vol"
3-Delete this folder "Playlists" ,and rename "AudioManager_Eng.vol" as you wish ,Eg. "asdfdasd".
4-Reboot your device and the player sohould be fine after a long seach for music.
5-For all the operation i ussed TotalCommander.
I hope it will work for all of you.
TotalCommander
Here you go !
Hello, I would like to move my ringtones to the internal memory because I've noticed that since I started using Swap, It delays the ringtone from starting. This is what I observed, Randomly the ringtone starts after 2 or 3 vibrates, other times its not at all and uses the stock beeping ringtone (I guess since the SD is being used, it cant go in it and get the ringtone) So bottom line, My ringtones take a few seconds to ring after a few vibrates. I already know that I have to convert them to .ogg, but does anyone know another way to make the system pull up the ringtone faster?
I would like to know that myself. Im sick of having my default ringtone going when i selected a custom one for one of my contacts. whats the best settings for the ogg files too as this may be helpful to us both

Alright... So you wanna do this, here is what you will need:
*ADB Installed and working
*Root Manager of some sort
*Format Factory -This is freeware, so it's not warez.
1st, Download and install Format Factory. This is the program I use for everything. If you have one of your own preference, it can be substituded.
**Do a custom install, as this will try to install adbars otherwise. (You have been warned.)
2nd, Open Format Factory and click "All to OGG".
3rd, Select your ringtones and click "ok". On the next screen, click "Start"
4th, Open your Root Explorer program, I use Android Commander
5th, With your Root Explorer program, navigate to your newly created OGG files (normally found in Documents/FFOutput on your PC) in the Root Explorer.
6th, Move these files to /system/media/*** on your phone. And you are done.
Please note: ""***" represents the respective folders. i.e. "ringtones", "notifications", etc.
Hope this helped you. Click "thanks" if it did. - Any questions, ask.
EDIT: DO NOT change the OGG settings in Format Factory. They work fine at default. Once you get used to, and comfortable with doing this, then play with the settings to get your desired file size and quality.
I tried doing what you said, but although I successfully managed to push the files, they still don't appear in the ringtone/notifications menu

did you make sure the phone looked for new media, or restart ya phone? i had to do it with mine
I was going to say that I had checked the phone after restart and they still weren't showing up - but I double checked again and now they are. Thanks! I'm not sure how to check for new media, though - is there a procedure for this?
Been trying this using ES File Explorer but keeping getting a message that paste failed. Any ideas where i'm going wrong.
I have S-Off and root
you can try this, it a little easier if you have the tools but yoo have to reflash the rom so be sure to backup your apps, contacts blah blah blah...
1. unzip the 'rom.zip' file, open the folder and look for the system/media/audio folder
2. now you can add & remove ringtones, notifications, alarm sounds that you want or dont want...
3. zip the rom file back up
4. sign it with an auto sign program... (very simple to use)
5. flash rom and enjoy your customizations
6. restore your backed up contacts and apps...
(you can also remove some unwanted stock apps to save space, be sure not too remove system required apps though lol)
Cheers Idrifta, ended up getting it to work using Root Explorer.
o nice!!! haha good to know... better than my method lol
The following worked for me.. Check this
I followed a link and it worked for me on jfltetmo running on cm11-m9 and having twrp v2.8.4.0. I explained the steps in my answer here: How to install a ringtone into internal memory?. All the credit for the steps go to villo-2.
