Radio and GPS Issues - XPERIA X1 ROM Development

I recently flashed to nX1i v1.04 and installed iGo 8. Everything was working beautifully but I wanted to try out itje's Touch-IT X1-P.UC. After I flashed I went through the motions setting up the connection and reinstalled iGo. After I ran iGo I realized I was not connecting to any satellites. The satellites were showing up but there was no connection being made. I ensured that I had updated quickgps but it did nothing. I tried also using the gps function in google maps but it could not find any satellites. The baud rate in iGo was set to auto and the com at 4.
I checked my radio version and I had Radio 1.11.25.76. I thought that maybe if I changed my radio it might help. I tried flashing blackstone and raphael both modified for the X1 and after the utility said congratulations, the phone reset but in device information i was still at 1.11.25.76. I tried reflashing spl and then flashing the radios but still the same issue. I did however flash down to 1.10.25.18 and back up to 1.11.25.76 with no problem.
The underlying issue here is the GPS. I really need the gps up and running as it is my only gps! Anybody have any ideas?

About the radio update the number didn't change because your phone must be security locked...But if you use official xperia radios it does change the number...
And about the gps issues you shouldt try other rom i recommend you i prefer stock roms there have not such kind of issues or maybe light ones, i use one that i myself have take all videos and get more memory....
Trust me try other roms
Or use a tool call GPStool from HTC...
And make hot and cold start....

Thanks for the help Fulgore69! I tried flashing back to stock but no luck. Is the rom you are using available on xda? I have no idea where to go from here

Have you confirmed that your Regional settings and your timezone are correct?
These can affect the ability of the GPS to work.

Yes, the regional settings and time zone are set correctly

I get that sometimes as well, it could be cloud cover etc. Try it again in about 5 to 10 minutes and see if you're still having the same problem.

GPS has died

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I've got a UK T-Mobile Vario III.
I've updated my ROM and radio a couple of times and have now discovered that my GPS isn't working. To try to fix this, I've reverted to old ROMs and radios but nothing seems to get the GPS going again. When I load up the GPS Tool and click open, no messages appear in the window at all. I seem to recall that when my GPS was working, messages would appear as soon as I clicked open, even if I was indoors and there was no chance of a signal getting through.
Radios I've tried are: 1.27.12.11 (my original radio), 1.27.12.17 and 1.27.12.32.
So it seems as if the GPS hardware is dead at the moment. Can someone suggest something that I can do to fix this?
Many thanks in advance!
I had a hiccup with the GPS lately. I installed and ran "GPSTest" and it helped sort things out for me
It may take 3-30 minutes to get a HDOP score (as mentioned in the linked post), but at least you'll know your GPS receiver is functioning properly.

Thanks for your replies. Something is definitely wrong as when I run GPS Test, it scans the com ports numerous times and then gives up and tells me the GPS is off. This is so annoying!
start gp test.start your navigation prog.go to gps settings,go to built in gps,use manual settings, use com 4, baud 4800.go outside then try.this worked for me
ive used this on tmobile and o2.both devices are now working fine with gps.
Download Franson GPSGate. It will force start the GPS. You can start & end sessions with it at will pretty much. It's also great because it allows you to use many GPS programs at once.
If you can't find it PM me & I'll upload for you. It's free to use in standard mode w/o internet tracking, server connections, etc...
I think there must be something more fundamental wrong. I've installed GPSGate and when I selected "wired or in built GPS", it is unable to find anything. It looks as if I'm going to have to get this repaired unless anyone has any other ideas...
Have you tried running uickgps to give the gps a kick start?

Yes, I've tried QuickGPS but no joy. But because GPSGate can't even detect the hardware, I think it's more of a problem than just not being able to get a fix. It's almost as if the driver or something isn't working.
You may want to check all the registry entries for the GPS. There is a link at the bottom of the Wiki that lays them out for you.
Having done hard resets and also reflashed the ROM, I don't think it can be a registry problem. Pretty sure it must be a hardware problem so it looks as if I'm going to have to get it repaired :-(
Clutching at straws here but could it be down to the fact that I flashed Schapp's WM 6.1 to the phone? I notice that a number of official 6.1 builds require a newer radio so perhaps flashing Schapps changed something else and now (even though I've gone back to 6.0) GPS will only work with one of the newer radios?
i have the same exact problem and it also started after i flashed schapps wm 6.1!!! ekhh did u find any solution?? thanks

Exactly same problem here. I flashed Schapps 6.1 ROM and the GPS is DEAD. I'm thinking about sending it in for service.
Anybody has any ideas?
the only solution i was able to find is to flash to schaps 6.1 rom. the gps now works fine. i guess once u flash to 6.1 ur gps will only work with 6.1....this should be a sticky

Strange that yours works with 6.1 as the other posts all seem to have the same problem with the GPS completely dead. Sounds as if the 6.1 flashes to a part of the ROM that the 6.0 ROMs don't flash to. Surely must be reversible, I'll post a message in the Schaps 6.1 thread. Fingers crossed...!

I don't think that this is true - I flashed several WM6.1 roms (and their radios), ending up with Sleuths, but after a while I noticed that it took considerably longer to get a GPS fix.
I returned to Duttys v4 with radio 1..27.12.32 and GPS is working fine and gets a fix as fast as before.
I don't know what the original problem was but in general I found it took longer to get a fix for all WM6.1 roms.
Dutty seems to have a 'team' of great beta testers helping him with his roms and I'm sure that one of them will notice this with his current private beta roms. If so then expect a fix soon.
its not about taking time, when i open up any of the gps programs (gps fix, etc), it doesnt even find the gps! it scans all the com ports, and when it gets to com4 the gps light comes on, but then it scans the other com ports and then tells me no gps found. if i put teh settigns on com4 it'll spend a few mins "looking for gps device" and then say gps off. by upgrading back to 6.1 it works now...
Try a other RADIO ROM
I think it has all to do with the RADIO ROM....

*Hopeless* GPS after 6.1 Update?

I know this has been touched on before, but I want to know if this is a widespread thing or what - since the official 6.1 update, my GPS has been really poor, particularly on a cold start. In fact, every time I use it feels like a cold start these days, even though Quick GPS is downloading data regularly and always shows 6+ days.
Every GPS app is the same - Tom Tom, GPS Test, Google Maps, Live Search - I can be waiting up to 10, 15, 20 minutes for a fix. The only time it's quicker is if I've used the GPS recently, and even that is a bit of a black art.
I like running the official ROM and I'm happy with the update in every other way, but the GPS problem is driving me up the wall - am I the only one? Is anyone running the proper ROM and not finding their GPS impaired?
The weird thing is, I can watch GPS test picking up two, three, four satellites but it just won't lock...
This is with the WWE 3.28 ROM with the 3.28 SPL loaded (fixing the freezes under Hard SPL v1)... what's going on?

Usually, I've found the GPS lock time is Radio Based. Maybe try a different Radio.

The only thing that is going to get me off the DEATH V3.5 ROM is a newer Rom by this same person.
The GPS is the best that I have ever had...
The phone signal is the best that I have ever had...
The GPS lock is about 30 seconds after TomTom starts...
The battery life is phenomenal - (it takes about 24 hours for the phone meter to register correctly) but I had 79 percent battery life left after using the phone all day yesterday at 11 pm last night (unplugged it at 6 AM).
Obviously - your carrier, your radio and ROM and where you are in the world can affect your signal greatly - but at this point - for me - the DEATH V3.5 ROM and radio rock and will stay on this phone as I LOVE having no phone issues.

Ok, maybe I've not been clear here - I'm not wanting to swap ROM stories or compare radios, I'm asking if anyone else is experiencing severe GPS problems with the stock ROM, and stock radio.
Anyone?
This isn't "which ROM/radio is best for GPS", it's "did the HTC ROM break your GPS?"
I have never looked at the official HTC ROM for comparison but I had the same thing after updating to certain ROM (non-official) the only way around it I found (other than replacing the phone) is another radio. Its not a problem with the ROM at all my good man just replace the radio and you should see a quicker lock time
I use radio 1.64.08.21 ang get a lock after approx 10-15 secs
Well If you are going to be snippy about it. Never mind. Forget I tried to help.
Though You may be hard pressed to find someone who is using the Stock ROM, I believe most people are wooed by the magic of Leo26, ConfusedStu, dutty, and the other Chefs out there.
So you wouldn't say that quoting my post back to me as "...snip snippity snip snip..." was being "snippy" in the first place?
I'm not trying to pick a fight here, I'm just interested in whether this is a common problem or not. I know GPS performance varies between radios, but with this new ROM & radio the difference is pretty shocking, and given that HTC are expecting the whole world to have installed it, I was surprised nobody else seemed to have noticed. You're probably right, nobody here kept it for long enough to find out apart from me, but I like my phone to be "stock". I guess this is my reward.
The answer probably is to try another radio, but it's a funny old situation.

I'm using the new (WM6.1) stock ROM from HTC on my Tytn-II and haven't had any issues with GPS lock. I would say less than 30 seconds assumming it has a clear view of a good percentage of the sky. Fix time is the same whether I use TomTom, GPS Tuner, or the HTC-GPS Tool.
Ofcourse if I try and start-up GPS while indoors or in an area where buildings block more than 50% of the sky then the fix time can be much longer.

I had the same problem after loading the 3.28 Hard-SPL. Reverted back to stock SPL and GPS is lightening fast.
Are you using the stock 3.28 SPL or the new 3.28 Hard-SPL?
Did you run Kaiser Tweak? if you did I would Hard Reset and try GPS test.
Got exactly the same problemwith the htc stock 6.1 rom. Nothin to do with hard spl etc as neve used it - phone has always been htc branded.
it appears that although quick gps data is downloaded, it is not used hence taking a long time as it needs to download the almanac data frim the satelites instead of quickgps. Ive emailed htc, but i have NEVER had a reply to any questions ive a ked in the past.

I'm on the stock SPL - my phone is Vodafone branded so I was originally using Hard SPL (with which I flashed the original stock HTC Rom) and then flashed the HTC 3.28 SPL after I found I had freezing issues with the 6.1 update. Haven't touched the new Hard 3.28, but from what you say it's obviously not going to help. I did wonder if the mystery fix in the 3.29 SPL might have something to do with the GPS, but if it's working fine for you on 3.28 who knows.

That's how it looks to me too - looking at the signal levels in GPS Test etc, it's not obviously a problem with the radio performance itself, which makes me doubt that changing the radio will actually help (while it will no doubt screw something else up).
I was just browsing through an interesting thread here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=292178 - on how Quick GPS works (or didn't work for a while) on the Artemis. There's some interesting stuff there about how all this is supposed to work.
I'm really suspecting that Quick GPS is broken in some way in the latest ROM. If it were working, then the phone should always have the almanac data and this should be visible in the settings screens in Tom Tom and other gps progs as satellites it's expecting to be there, but for me - unless I've had a very recent lock - it's always blank. In other words, the data isn't there, regardless of what Quick GPS is saying.
And a good question would be - where should the data be? Quick GPS itself is stored in the \windows folder, but there's no sign of the "packedephemeris.ee" file mentioned in the Artemis thread. Does anyone know where we should be able to find it on the Kaiser?
Another question is what server(s) should Quick GPS be downloading from - in my non-functioning Quick GPS, the settings in the registry are as follows:
HKLM\\SOFTWARE\HTC\QuickGPS\0\0\IP > xtra1.gpsonextra.net
HKLM\\SOFTWARE\HTC\QuickGPS\0\1\IP > xtra2.gpsonextra.net
HKLM\\SOFTWARE\HTC\QuickGPS\1\0\IP > xtra3.gpsonextra.net
HKLM\\SOFTWARE\HTC\QuickGPS\1\1\IP > xtra1.gpsonextra.net
HKLM\\SOFTWARE\HTC\QuickGPS\2\0\IP > xtra2.gpsonextra.net
HKLM\\SOFTWARE\HTC\QuickGPS\2\1\IP > xtra3.gpsonextra.net
The three servers (xtra1, xtra2, etc) are also listed under HKLM\\SOFTWARE\HTC\QuickGPS\SNTP as Server 1, Server 2, Server 3 - does anyone see anything different on there working model?
Im having the same problem,
Running Dutty's 6.1 Dual rom. Once the ROM had installed I noticed that QuickGPS didn't work straight off the bat. I suffered long GPS lock wait times. I found a QuickGPS cab file which fixed QuickGPS but my lock times don't seem to have improved. Via GPSTest I get 3-4 within sight straight away, but they sit on red for ages perhaps a few more satellites with appear but again they'll all sit on red. until about 15 mins passes, then finally a fix.
Im sure my GPS responded quicker than that in previous ROM's. at the moment its not really effecting me and im really not going to go through another ROM change again to test.
Im already on radio 1.64.08.21 which is supposed to be the best out there. tut.
no idea about hard spl and all that business, not really sure what y'going on about.
Would also like to find a fix for this, as i've tried a few different methods of fixing with no luck.
So it's not the radio, which ties in with my hunch that this is more to do with Quick GPS. But my Quick GPS registry settings match those I've found elsewhere, and I've found the data - it's an "xtra.bin" file in the Windows folder, which also matches reports from working installs. And I'm having no problem with the whole downloading process, that's happening in the background (through Activesync) just as it always was.
So is there something in the actual Rom (and presumably the base rom used by Dutty) which isn't picking up that data when utlising GPS?
Well I think I read a few posts on Dutty's Dual ROM thread about QuickGPS not working straight off, but its a long thread to plow through to find out. S its entirely possible there's a good reason.
Hmmm
well I proved to myself im not inherently lazy I did a bit of searching around and found this little gem of a thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=375172
it suggested that QuickGPS has a region setting in the registry
low and behold I checked my
HKLM\Software\HTC\QuickGPS\region
and it was set to US,
I changed this to say UK, I've not tested this but I think this might make a difference. I'll let you know whenI get the chance to play around on the way home from work. I usually try and get a fix on the 15 minute walk to my bus and dont get any fix at all, If all goes fine I'll be watching myself in Igo8 on the way home. Sad.
Hmm, fingers crossed for you, I just checked and mine it's showing "GB" though. So maybe your's should be GB (although that's not working too well for me) or maybe mine's wrong, and should be UK?
well I just popped outside for a quick test and Corblimey guvenor if Im not getting a fix in about 20 seconds.
Which is excellent to say the least since i was sat under a canopy of trees at the time and its grim as normal up't'north.
Id switch yours to UK, I didnt really think to try GB, but If its not working for you right now, I'd suggest trying UK.
I changed it to UK, soft reset, tried Tom Tom, no change. I then checked the registry and it had switched back to GB, so I changed it again, closed and reopened Quick GPS and redownloaded, back to Tom Tom again and.. no change. I don't think it's going to do it for me, maybe we have two different problems here..

GPS problems

I've tried my gps in a load of places and the closest i've got my location to is 1500 m.....
I've done it alongside my friends N95 and he pretty much instantly got our location spot on with his google maps app, but my diamond couldnt get it.... left it for about 5 minutes before giving up!
Any help would be ace
Did you load the Almanach Data before?
e.g. Did you ever started QuickGPS before?
Have you clicked on the menu tab in google maps and clicked on the use gps button.
I havn't started quickGPS before, but yes, i did tick the use GPS button. It said searching for satelites in a small blue box at the top of the screen and then that disappeared.
I've never got a fixed location off of it letalone trying it at home, work, town, everywhere
Try the quick gps application first,it will help by getting the latest satelite information.
What version rom are you using.
Errrm, bit of a noob to the whole winmo scene, diamond is my first and i ony got that about a week ago....
How do you find out the rom version?
Also, another seperate question... is it worth updating ROM? I've been to the other forum and heard names like Bepe and stuff, but it doesnt mean anything...

Start > Settings > System tab > Device Information. Your ROM version is in there. If you have 1.35 or 1.37, then YES it is definitely worth updating. Whether you use a stock ROM or a cooked rom (like Bepe) is up to you.
I'm following this thread because I've had similar problems with GPS, even though I've already followed every advice I found when searching. It's not a high priority for me though. Anyway, I've played with both the Windows and Google GPS settings, every combination thereof, and everything else I can think of, but no real luck. At ONE point it was working, but then I flashed another ROM and never got it going again.
i got a ROM: 1.37.405.1
Radio 1.00.25.03
which means????
I had it working using the same ROM/radio versions as yours, AND I JUST GOT IT WORKING AGAIN! I know I tried this unsuccessfully since flashing 1.93, but this time it worked...
Leave the Windows GPS settings at default. In Google Maps GPS settings, set it manually to COM4 and 19200. Go outside, and tap Use GPS. It will say "initializing" for a while (give it time), and get a fix. After the first time it's slightly faster, but still seems pretty damn slow.
thanks, will try those settings tomorrow when it's slightly less cold, dark and rainy outside
cheers

gps problem after rom upgrade - assistance needed :(

hi there,
I have my diamond for almost a week now. On the first day everything worked fine. The gps got a fix, took it a while but it worked. On the second day of playing with it i decided i wanted to try a cooked rom.
I installed hardSPL (oliNex 1.40) and then tried dyttys 1.8 rom. All worked fine except for the GPS. It wasn't even finding it (the nav soft nor the gps test tool).
So i upraded the radio to 08 (in duttys rom it's 07). Same thing.
Next thing was installing panosha's shine on 1.5 rom (including radio 08).
Then i actually managed to see the gps, but it couldn't get a fix. So i tried radio 05. The gps was found but no fix... after hard reset once i got a fix, which took really long time, like 5-10 minutes. After next reboot nothing... Even the gps was not seen by the apps.
Now I'm on panosha's shine on 1.6 (still radio 05). Now the apps can see the gps, but it won't fix.
What to do? Try another hardspl? try another rom? try another radio? maybe try some tweaks?
Or maybe the gps is broken? But it worked!
Help me out please guys.

It think it has nothing to do with the hardSPL but u could try olinex 1.93
For roms, try swiftBLs or maybe christonges ct.

Well well well, there seems to be some problem...
I have exactly the same: no GPS fix but still seeing the sats, then no sats anymore.
I installed Dutty's 1.8 too yesterday and after that CT's.
Now back to a stock ROM including Stock SPL, but no GPS anymore...
I'm afraid I have to send my device for repair.
What do we have in common? We both flashed Dutty's 1.8, we both changed radio's (I went from .08 to .05).
Are there more victims out there???
look here... i will try this now
Don't know how about you... but it worked for me. ..at least for now. I got a fix.
Try it - soft reset your gps!

After every ROM flash, you need to cold boot your GPS.
This is why the first time you have to wait 5-10 minutes to get a fix.
You can always use HTC GPS Tool or any similar app to cold boot.
ok, it helped only for a while. I then installed skype, google maps, maybe something else, synced with outlook and now gps cannot be found. Even by htc_gps_tool. It now says "failed to send NMEA command".
GPS Test scans ports and stops at com4 (this is the gps port)... and nothing happens. Hard reset of the device does not help.
Any ideas? Just 1h ago gps seemed to work

Do you have AGPS enabled? If so, disable it.
I WOULD recommend to start everything from the beginning:
1: flash a radio (.08)
2: flash a vanilla ROM (DON'T install anything else apart from HTC GPS tool)
3: Try getting a fix with this setup. We'll then know if it's a hardware problem or just your fiddling.
So don't touch the hardspl? If it works it works and i shouldn't change it?
What do you mean by "a vanilla rom". Any rom with vanilla=tflo3d? If so, what if this rom has radio in it (dytty's 1.8 has radio 07).
ps: how to change agps setting? I used pocket toolman now... had to install it... and guess what: agps was off. I turned in on rebooted and turned it off again. Didn't help.
Thanx for the interest in my problem Awaiting further instructions.

I have tested a bit this night. Flashed duttys 1.8, tried and it works, installed loads of apps and tried again and there it is, no gps fix.
I did a hard reset and flashed the .05 radio and then swiftBLs 6.0 lite rom. Nothing, no gps fix. Did another hard reset and flashed an official rom, and it works normal. Another hard reset and back to swiftBLs rom and got no problems.

Just did the same you did (flash to an official ROM, including stock SPL, so everything back to the original state. Still no more GPS fix. GPSTest gives a few low signals but not enought for fix. Tried it outside for half an hour.
My device goed back for repair.
I'm sure soft reset of gps would help.
I just did new radio flash + new rom flash + soft reset of gps and it worked.
The I was installing my packages + configuring my device doing reboot after each small change to see if gps still works. It stopped working after installing win6voip.cab
Will try again to verify that
I had the same prob. And even when i had a fix it loses the fix and then it fixed agian so on and so on. Had it with igo8 and tom tom 7 and a smal program to see gps reception.
I switched back to radio .05 and used rom sc (skippycentraal) v2.8 (dutch language, is perfect for me cause i'm from holland )
I't works perfect, in about 20 to 30 sec outside getting a fix.
sometimes i'll even get a fix indoors
I think its a problem with the roms with the new radios, but the reason for the gps problems itself is affected by some applications.
Ummm a bit worrying..... I must admit after frying my Hermes with a new radio and then my Polaris after flashing a compatable radio from another device I´m a little vary now. I´ve stuck with .05 for a while now and I´ve been flashing between 5-10 times a day for the last few weeks and TomTom has been fixing everytime no issues whatsoever.

how do you softreset GPS???
Use htc gps tool. Use function->chip->Q7200, set baud rate and port and click "open port". Next use function->set mode->cold start and get outside for 10 minutes with the device configured not to shut down/go to sleep (power settings). It should get a fix.
Back to my case: I flashed again and did the gps cold start. Then installed all the stuff I wanted + configured everything checking if gps is still getting a fix after each install/reboot. It still does. Ofcourse this time I did not install win6voip.cab. So I guess this package was the one "spoiling" my gps.
Will try to tweak my voip in win manually tomorrow. Hope it works because I have a SIP account I would like to use on my diamond.

Also did that, no fix... GPS definitely is broken, back to repair.
GPS no signal
God damn it...
everyone keeps flashing ROMs etc and I thought it was safe, I have exactly the same problem as pietrucci
and now I read that flashing everything back to stock doesn't fix the GPS ...
that REALLY PISSES ME OFF
there seems to be no information on how to properly "restart" the GPS so to make it work.
also from a technical point of view, how can you possibly "break" the GPS by installing hardSPL and another ROM, without even touching the Radio?
this problem better get a fix somehow and lets hope we (me, pietrucci and evilskanker) are able to fix it, or I will stop flashing untested **** altogether. it's fun as long as it works, but if someone reports a problem that is suddenly an exception, then things start to get quite a bit less safe as you see!
just my 2 cents.
Hi.
I don't know how Qualcomm GPS works, but users of Eten X650 are having same problem. (My previos phone was X650, SirfStarIII) After some reflashing GPS is broken. We make it working by dispacing battery from phone for 36 hr. So all GPS settings were reset. Someone ever short-circuit contacts of battery on the phone for this time. Try this if everything didn't help before going to service.

Ok, I'm wiling to try everything. I'll leave the battery out for some days.
What do you mean by short-circuit the battery contacts, just hold a piece of iron on the phone contacts? Or do something with the battery itself? Doesn't that damage the device or battery?
By the way: I'm can't tell for sure my broken GPS was caused by flashing. But it was right after my last flash (Dutty v1.8) that is was dead. Everything I did after that (flashing to other ROMS, to stock ROMS, hardresets, GPS resets) was to try to get life in my GPS. But as you know now, without any effect.
All in all I believe it has to do with flashing but not 100% sure...

Gps Problem

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, after flashing like 150 roms so far, today i had this mysterious problem.
After flashing NRG's 6.5 ( with the new manilla rom ), i flashed into his new one, the 06/20, and then i flashed to duttys 3.9.
Now my gps simply wont work, i mean all the programs find it, but i get no signal whatsoever, not even one single satellite. What do you guys recommend to do ?
I will flash a stock rom now and see if that fixes anything.
PS : Flashing stock rom didnt do nothing.
Please someone help
GPS Problem
Hi
Try Start, settings, connections, connections, advanced, Select networks and set correct values in both dialogues!
What applicatons are you using for GPS?
I dont think the connection settings are completely relevant but make sure not in flight mode and that if you have entered SIM PIN that phone module is functioning, which I guess could be linked back to the operator settings, but GPS should still work regardless.
The stock settings for hardware should not need changing aa far as GPS is concerned.
If the above isn't any help, try hard reseting a few times (take out your storage card first though) as it could be due to some user customisation thing

Have you tried in igo8 goto the GPS settings, untick the box then let igo8 find the GPS by using the option?
Oh and we're assuming you have hardreset after flashing?

Ofc i did hard reset it, more than 2-3 times, and yes i have chosed to find gps automatically. Nothing does the trick, i think the module is broken.
First things first before checking it out with sofware like iGO
Have you tried the 'HTC GPS tool' ?
Remember if you just flashed then you do a complete coldboot of the GPS module.
So go outside and wait up till 10 minutes with the gps tool --> 'open port'
Let us know how that goes!
I don't main to sound patronising but have you downloaded latest info using QuickGPS??

Not to say that it wont work but I dont use that application and always get a pretty quick fix, 30-60 secs, even inside my house.

Damn that doesnt sound good, Id try everything from, flashing the ROM through RUU mode without SD inserted, reflash SPL and phone module, clean and format SD card. Also copy the iGO8 folder from the working device to the other SD card and run the .exe directly from location, just to be certain. Good luck.
Was a long shot, just checking all bases
It isnt a long shot
Ok now i am facing another problem.
How can i go back to 1.14 stock rom ? I just flashed it and i get the green screen..
PS : Nevermind i will restock the spl and use uspl, wont that do the trick ?
and what did 'HTC GPS tool' report?

if you can provide a .cab for it i will let you know, but i am currently preparing it to take it back to service.
PS : By flashing back to 1.14 and getting the green screen, all i had to do is reflash stock 1.14 spl ( just for knowing ).

give me 5 mins to check it.
I hope the service guys wont give me a hard time fixing it or replacing it or i will be really sad to buy a new one
PS : No gps tool did nothing as well, no fix , not even a single satellite and after pressing the test button, it was resetting it after 5 seconds of testing it.
I am really sure its the module
just take it easy.
Sometimes it is best to let it, meaning yourself, rest a couple of hours to start troubleshooting again.
Wait atleast 10 minutes outside while it starts gathering information and preferably leave the Touch on a device that stands still, so not walking around

Both Google maps and TomTom uses AGPS!
At least on my phone, that reduces connection time conciderably!!
