i know im abit late with the rom change on my htc hd, but i was wondering which rom would be best to switch to, because lately my phone has really been pee'in me off, keeps freezing and all sorts, especially when i try changing my wallpaper. the phones locked on orange uk and have the original rom installed, 1.14.405.3 WWE, will this effect the flashing process or is it likely to cause any problems, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance

+1,agree,the fastest rom ever tryed
hey thanks for the reply, i'll definatly give it a go, what about manilla v3, i saw it a while back but cnt seem to find it now, that seemed nice but im guessing it isnt as fast as the energy one.
one more thing ig anyone's great enough to help, whats the best way of flashing my device and what to do, this is my first windows mobile device and was wondering what to do, theys these words going around like uspl and hspl but none make sense, i have the original rom and have jus downloaded the energy rom and want to upgrade, what do i need to do. thanks in advance.
There's a guide on the wiki.
USPL is for more advanced users, I'd start with Hard SPL
Just Hard SPL and flash the ROM.
P.S. what the best ROM is, is subjective. Each to there own, just try a few and see what you like.

I do care about Performance and Have a clean ROM...Please Post your feedback on Tested ROMs Specially Cooked ROMs(Molski..etc).
I'd like to know an answer to that question as well.
I'm running: ROM: 2.21.2.8 GER
ExtROM: 2.21.2.110
I'm decided to cook the rom but I don't not with which rom to replace it. So yes my Question is again what is the best rom and a link would be much appreciated.
Which fruit (cooked or straight off the tree)is best ?
Not to be a smart @$$, but really it all depends on exactly what you want out of the device and are going to be doing with the device.
Well I'll be doing anything I can do with it. That means use it as a gps device, be connected to wlan for the most of the time, edit documents use the calendar and so forth. I think the only thing I won't be needing is the camera.
I'd like a ROM that is really costumazible. So I could cvhange anything I won't and that the ROM is fairly quick hopefully quick enoughto run skype on it....

What Rom you choose is a personal issue, there is no thing like "the best rom", one preffers Mr. Clean Rom, others like the T-Mobile Roms and others like Roms that made by Faria, Risidoro or me...
You just have to install a few Roms, test them out and keep the one that suits the most for you...
Molski
Check this "risidoro" 2 26 ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276700
Do I need to cook this rom to use it on my device or is it ok if I just run the setup? As it look's like the G4 rom doesn't include the IPL and SPL files.
I think this thred really should be 2 threads
until someting is sorted we have 2 different machines
G3 and G4
OR let this thread stay ande and we could start a " What is the best G4 locked Phone Rom?"
Bhayani
So I just got my new Diamond (Hong Kong traditional chinese version), version below:
ROM: 1.37.832.4 CHT
Date: 06/23/08
Radio: 1.00.25.03
Protocol: 52.26a.25.09H
I wanted to get the most out of the little phone. What tweaks and fixes I need to do to get to everyone elses "standard" ? Such as updating, changing the language to english, some kind of ways to backup my old ROM, speed fix on the menus and navigation, tweaks on longer battery life Also tell me if there is more needed.
Can anyone tell me where to get those stuff (Or if those things exists) ? I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you very much !
update to WWE rom and flash the radio, use the roll up stickies as tutorials at the top of the pages, read, search and you will find.
no one here will want to find it for you. open your eyes and take a look around. its all here.
end of topic.

Hey, I am new to this and I don't have the slight understanding of how these things work. That is why I'm asking for help. I wouldn't want to install the wrong things and kill my diamond (It happened before with my PSP =/).
But thank you for answering. Is updating the rom and radio all I need ?

Ouch, harssshhh.
To the original postah... Search for "Diamond Tweaks", should be a sticky in this forum. Those should help a lot for the performance of your Diamond. You CAN flash a new ROM and radio (make sure to Hard SPL first, search on how to do that!) but it's not necessary and taking a risk... Not a very big one, but devices have been turned to paperweights from flashing messups many times. To keep it basic use those Diamond Tweaks, start your device off right with Schaps Advanced Configuration tool (www.touchxperience.com) and TF3D Config, maybe Diamond Tweak (a program called that, searchsearchsearch) as well. To get a registry editor you can also go to touchxperience.com, you'll need that for most of the tweaks. Now go, go, go!
Thanks for the answers.
I have decided to flash the Rom cause I wanted to get the best out of the phone.
I come across this guide on flashing: http://modmydiamond.info/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=12&Itemid=26
And this for list of Rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=413910
The problem I have now is that I don't know which Rom is the best to flash into. And whats the difference between Offical and Cooker rom (Which is better)?
Again, thanks for answering. I appreciate it.
each person have different prefrenses and use their pda's for different things
which is why there are more then one rom called superrom which everybody use
so it is kinda hard to answer the question which one is best for you
trying various is most likely the best path

Yeah there is alot of them. =/
I'll try them out.
But can you tell me if the cooker ones are better than the offical ones ?
And is this the official English Rom: RUU_Diamond_HTC_WWE-ME_1.93.456.2 ?
Thx !

...better? They are newer; look: Just like in Windows XP Microsoft also generates new builds of windows mobile. Also HTC does this with his own applications. The cookers always takes the newest builtds and gave us the great roms!
ok?
Just look at it like this, cooked roms are customized by people on here that want better performance, the official roms are what HTC puts out to try and make it work for everyone. If you find a cooked rom that works for your needs, it's likely to be better because it doesn't include all of the stuff that doesn't interest you. Better yet, you could cook your own rom if you really want to, look for a tutorial on it. Not incredibly difficult, just takes some time to learn. (This is my perception of it, I've never cooked a rom myself but it doesn't seem so impossible)
Thank you guys, I chose the SwiftBL for the Rom since it have just what I need and much more.
But I have another question about the Radio Rom. I have the Radio version 1.00.25.03 and I wanted to ask do I need to update/change it ? If it's not necessary, can I skip this step and just update my Rom and not the Radio ?
Thx !

read!?! nobody told me i was suppose to read before trying to flash my phone for the first time?!! jk
yeah, just look around at the different tutorial on here, and it should help you to better understand it. I just got my diamond last week, and i can't believe how much i can change on this phone compared to my old S60 v3 phone...
I wouldn't change the radio unless you have issues with reception... But that's me, I'm very conservative compared to most on here when it comes to flashing/changing major aspects of the phone.
I have completed the flashing the Rom and Radio on my Diamond and thank god it didn't brick.
Everything is done now so thank you guys very much for everything.

....first install HardSLP!
....second:
Radio Rom: resposible for gsm signal, wifi...
...third:
Cooked Roms:
Our Chiefs are always cooking roms with the newest applications and share them to us.
In the benchmark you can see which rom is the fastest. But I woud suggest you just try them out!
Are you 100 % sure that as a newbie you really need to flash new rom first? Why not to get to know your device a bit before making any changes?

well maybe I will use 6.1 for a month then switch to 6.5..
thx.. helped a lot
probably in september we will see new phones with wm6.5, I've read about it in czech forum today (official information from czech office of microsoft)
Investigating replacing ROM on my tilt2 with a custom 6.5.1 ROM and have several questions.
Question#1 What are the risks to performing this?
Question #2 How do I backup the entire phone so I can restore it like it was when I opened out of the box from AT&T? (even after a hard SPL)
Question #3 If I need to return the unit for any reason back to AT&T, would I be able to do this after flashing the ROM and performing hard SPL ? Or will they detect this has been done and deny me?
Thanks
I'll try to answer the best I can. Anyone please chime in...
A1) Primary risk is permanently messing up your phone if you don't perform the HardSPL correctly! Other than that, every other risk is minor when you're actually flashing the ROM becuase it seems to me like its close to impossible to brick your phone with HardSPL.
A2) There is no REAL way to backup your entire ROM like you can in Android (Nandroid backups). However, there's always the stock AT&T ROM that you can flash back and than use programs such as Microsoft MyPhone to backup and restore your personal data.
A3) You can Relock your phone using the relocker. This is available in one of the stickys...probably the one with the HardSPL.
Anymore questions, please ask!
yeah
I think rvashi pretty much nailed it all, however if you ever do have to revert to stock make sure to read all the info! You'll need to revert to stock ROM and Radio. I've never done it on my Rhodium but on my Raphael it was quite easy... I assume its no different on Rhodium!
Just read the stickies and check out the wiki! I made sure I'd read through the procedure thoroughly prior to starting and had no issues! Of course I've been flashing ROMs starting with the Kaiser and not much has changed from that device procedure wise!
Not all roms include radios. Ive never flashed a radio yet, on my kaiser or my tilt 2, but it sounds just as easy as loading the roms.
Here, i have a question to ask. Whats the difference between a rom that lists WWE and one that doesnt?

WWE means that the language of the phone will be english, if you install a ROM with something else like FRA then the phone will be in that language, in this case french.
Hello, i'm kinda new to smartphones and WM flashing and this stuff(never flashed before) so i got my kaiser second hand with the Hyper dragon III(WM6.1) and im not feeling it stable i checked out several ROM's but i don't know since this phone was given to me flashed if Hard SPL is in there and i don't know how to check actually... and if i try to flash it to the phone and it's already there will there be any complications also if any one could tell me a fairly good WM6.5 ROM becouse i just can't make up my mind.
Thank You
All answers for your main questions are in the FAQ >here<.
As for which rom well i recommend jjblasters stable 6.5 release but it's all personal preference. Link to that in my sig if you want it.

Try the different roms and see which one is suitable for your needs, that's why there are so many...made for different people and different tastes enjoy flashing it really does not take that long to load a rom.
