Wi Fi on ATT TILT problem - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

How do I verify that my WiFi is actually working?
I have two TILTS with the same radios, one shows available WiFi access points and other desn't.
On the one that doesn't I recently replaced the broken screen so may be disconnect something, but the rest of the phone functionality is working fine.
Is there any diagnostic utils or something else I can use to troubleshoot it?
Thanks a lot

Any ideas?
I tried few different radios, reinstalled ATT original 6.1 ROM = the same problem.
GPS works fine SMS, phone, Data connections etc they all work.
Hardware problem? Or there is something in software I can still try to troubleshoot it?
Thanks

um turn it on and if it doesn't find anything it's broke? I don't think the radio Rom has anything to do with the wifi radio. Make sure that power saving is set to a minimum.

That's correct. I have two identical TILTs. When I turn on Wi Wi on them both the first one displays the list of available networks. The other one doesn't.
If I don't turn it on but go to Wi Fi settings there is a Search Networks entry in the list.
If I activate it, I assume it turns on Wi Fi searches and gives me the message:
"No visible networks detected. Widows Mobile will continue to search for networks periodically".
Never finds anything
From reading HTC manual I think TILT shares BT & Wi Fi antenna. BT works Wi Fi doesn't.
Must be something else or I am wrong about that assumption.

Please people, experts help!!!!

do a hard reset, if it doesn't work then it's broken.

If you would read my posts you would see that I flashed few different radios and few different ROMs on it including the stock one from ATT.
The same problem. So what would hard reset do?
It seems to me that most of your expert advices are: "Oh well, your devise is broken." What exactly is "broken"?
Quite frankly it's not an advice I am looking for here from the real experts.

Are you the type of person that drinks milk thats gone bad until it's turned good again.
If it doesn't work on a reset/flash on serveral roms, wouldn't you think the device is defective.

The wifi card is broken.
If you have hard reset, flashed several roms and adjusted the power management settings for best performance, what else is there?
Maybe no one is replying because I'm making sense. Maybe not
have fun with the experts.

Unfortunately, when people such as myself, read through a thread like this and see people asking for help, giving snide retorts to other senior members , who are trying to help. It makes you feel like even if you did try to help, it wouldn't be appreciated anyway, so why bother.
But I will offer a second opinion anyway " it's broken "

It's OK with me.
Somehow, for some reason, I do not consider the answer "it's broken" as a decent reply to my original cry for help.
But it's ok, I guess indeed why bother ...

If you had come with a differnt problem or different symptoms, then you may have gotten another answer. I can't help that it's a pretty simple thing.
You totally reload the software with different releases that are know to work out of the box, so we know it's not software. We would like to assume you know how to even turn the wireless on because it works on the other phone.
Maybe thats the problem.
Do you know how to turn the wireless on and off?

Problem with HSDPA signal (3G as well...)

I've tried to look for a solution in XDA but I haven't found any...
I'm using an italian ROM (T.I.R. 6.0) based on AT&T build.
I was using my phone without any problem, with full HSDPA signal everyday.
Today, after a call it stopped to get the HSDPA signal...
If I switch the 3G signal off from the CommManager it takes G signal and everything works well...
I don't really know what it can depend on...
I'm not the only one who is having this problem. Another italian guy with the original ROM has the same problem. So I think it depends on one software I've installed on my kaiser... but I don't really know why it started to have this problem now. I was only calling, and doing nothing more than this.
These are the software which are installed on my kaiser:

Can it depend on KaiserTweak??? I was reading about people having some problems related with it, but I'm not sure...
I had this problem another time in the past, and I solved it by reflashing the ROM.
Hope someone can help me.
Ciao!
Make a little search on the forum about 3G signal problems, and you'll find things like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=335074
Some Kaisers (apparently quite a few according to the number of people asking about it every week...) have defective hardware, and the radio will fail with just those symptoms at some random point. Only cure is to send the device back for repair. Mine went through that too. Firstly the device won't work on 3G anymore, only EDGE, then eventually the radio will fail completely and not find any network anymore.
Of course it's not the only reason for 3G problems, but a frequent one... so what you'd want to do to find out if it's your case is the following:
Try a hard reset, as you say you already solved the problem once it might be enough and would mean your hardware is OK, then if it's no help maybe try a different ROM, including radio version, if it still doesn't work you'll have no choice but sending your device back to service center.
And someone should make a sticky out of that too, it must be the 10th time I post it...
Thank u for ur answer. I swear, I had a look on the forum, but u can imagin between so many 3ds how difficult it can be to find something really interesting concerning this problem.
In the evening I'll have a look to the 3d u posted.
If there is someone who has some ideas on what is going on and has solved the problem without sending the ppc to HTC, please, help me!
Thanks again!

Help Please.

Ok, so here my deal. What is up with my answering modem always disconnecting. i cant send texts, receive, browse net, even make calls. It will say dialing then automaticlly exit. I have to do this at least 20 times for it to actually go through, half the time it doesnt cause i get so pissed. Considering i have full or one below full servive. Damn phone is a giant watch. but everything works fine when i am at home. once i leave the house nothing works, all the setting are what they were when i got it.
BTW this is my second tilt. the first one, i got the red light, and AT&T finally sent me a new one.
the second one, no red light, no nothing. everything was working great. i was so stoked. now its doing this crap again. I've done a hard reset to put everything back to normal to see if that works. nothing. when i try to connect to the net, it says the answering modem has been disconnected. why ? why is this doing this ?
Please help me with this.

Start there. This would happen to be the FIRST WIKI page for the kaiser here. Note there is a section called " Rom Upgrading". I think thats a heck of a place to start seeing as how you want to "Upgrade your Rom".
Still nothing. now it wont even load anything. ive tried 3 different roms and changing up the radio. it will get as far as the progress bar with the % and then its says that it a communication error. im getting really fustrated and annoyed, someone please help. everything works fine when im at home but once i leave, nothing. no service,net,calls... damn thing is a giant watch. it will get service for maybe a couple minutes then hit no service again. I dont even know what to do...
is there anyone close in the portland, oregon area that is able to help ?
Well if some people could help me out and post some helpful hints or something that would be great.
im off to work and wont be back on until about 1am or so.
Thanks in advance
WOW. no one ?
thanks for the help..
Restore the original ROM, tell ATT it's faulty too and ask for another replacement?
Try setting it to GSM only (disable 3G) and see what happens.
To do that go to Settings->Personal->Phone->Band->Network Type=GSM.
If it works then, you might want to read this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=419803

Are you sure you don't have that tab in your phone settings (it might look a bit different)? It looks like this:

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

}
yeah im sure. where you have the tabs that say phone/network/pin...
mine run i the order of.. phone/services/network/pin/pin2/time zones/more
and nothing about gsm or choosing anything else are in those tabs.
The phone is a AT&T Tilt. if that makes any difference
Then AT&T is hiding the panel via a registry setting.
The easier way to make it visible again is by using KaiserTweak (get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349009 if you don't have it or if you have an old xml.).
After you get it and install it:
1. Close the Phone Settings app if open
2. Start KaiserTweak
3. Under the "Data (GPRS/Edge/HSDPA/WIFI)" group, find an entry called "Show Band Page".
4. In the drop menu at the bottom, select "Enabled (Advised)".
5. Hit Exit and it should now be visible in the Phone Settings.
wow. totally forgot that i had kaiser tweak. ill try that now

[Q] GPS doesn't get lock. Software or Hardware issue?

I'm in the UK (London) and have tried several firmwares, none of them gave any acceptable result for the matter that the phone doesn't lock on any single satellite.

I've sent the phone on a warranty repair (O2) saying that it doesn't lock on any satellite. Just got it back today and here's what they said:
"one of our engineers has found the problem and fixed it. For quality control, another one of our engineers checked the repair."
Guess what, nothing happened it still doesn't work. I hope you can come up with some solution - even if it involves hardware fix.

Ask them what problem was found, was it related to software or hardware?
Its mostly the settings which might need tweaking as per your location. I have noticed that 1st time gps locking takes time & you should have working data connection to assist its locking & after that the phone maintains a cache of your locations.
GPS dont work indoors so go out in open park 50mt away from the nearest buildings & switch on the gps & see if it locks or not. Indoor the phone uses cell tower to determinate your location but gps wont lock your location due to missing signals.
These are my settings.
menu>settings>Location & security>
check all with green check mark.
use wireless network
use gps satellites
use sensor aiding
Might help to lock, try these & report back.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032034
Worth a try and also worth looking at the GPS fixes posts .
5 mins = 7- 11 sats on a cold boot for me .
jje
Did you tried a diffrent modem? Like JQ1 or something. Maybe that help.
I've tried several firmwares with different modems, all of them gave the above result outdoors, still after 10-15 mins waiting. The settings are the best touted around the web, also tried FasterFix... no luck.
I really suspect a HW failure or something with the antenna. The SNR value starts off at around 30-35 when the device senses the satellites, then slowly goes down to 14-18.

Sorry i'm not native english speaker.. what's that you're saying in other words (gps fade)? The great lord of the dark must be from Wheel of time lol
Development in the case:
As Chris_84 suggested, i've tried XXJQ1 modem and i've managed to get a lock on 3-5 satellites for about a second, then dropped. But the SNRs are far better than the one on the screenshots. I'll try some others too.

I had exactly the same problem with GTI9003 fw DDKB2. I tried all the softwares which you tried and results were exactly same. No settings worked. So I changed to XXKB3 available in forum. The GPS worked instantly without having to change any settings. I have tried this on two different pcs and it works. So you can try this fw and let us know the results.

the signal is still low with only 4 satellites & none locked as yet in your screenshot but I have found a fix here with gps tweak

Now I can lock within 2 sec with 5 mt accuracy to 11 satellites, here is my post about my testing.

[Q] Can't browse when in 2G

Hi folks. I'd like help on something I noticed ever since I bought my HTC HD7.
My current carrier is Claro (Brazil) but I've also used TIM and Vivo. I do have a data package but I can only surf the net when I'm in a 3G area. As my city does not have 100% 3G coverage, when in 2G I cannot browse at all.
I have tried setting up the APN as directed by the carrier but that did not help at all. I've also ran the HTC Connection Wizard to no avail. Weird thing is, if I put my GSM chip on another phone, everything works including browsing in 2G. This is happening with all the carriers I've used, and the fact that it is working correctly on another phone indicates that this seems to be a configuration issue with Windows Phone.
BTW, I can browse in 3G with or without any APNs set up. So, would it be correct to assume that the data takes a "different route" or uses a different software configuration depending on whether it is on a 3G or 2G area?
Any ideas?
Phone radio issue... the only explanation, My T-Mobile HD7 can't work very well with 850 and 900MHz GSM carriers only 1900MHz (Claro), also a radio issue... but it can use 2G...
If only we could exchange phones. LOL!

Hi++
I'm agree with you ! ( First time I thought it's just about me but then I find out there are so many people like me !)
( Maybe there is some other reason : yesterday I read a news about decreasing of worldwide Internet speed because of a group of crazy Hackers ! if this news is not a Big rumor so ... )
I never trust that kind of news, because if some "hackers" bring down the internet... the REAL hackers will hunt down silently those posers and made them cry like little girls.
Real hackers don't give a flipping coin about "lesser things" like the internet, they are more interested on "giants" to troll... (CIA, FBI, NATO, etc) you name it...
Also, never forget if the news call him/her/them hacker(s), it's in a bad way and it's a lie, just look at George Hotz, great hacker (breaking the PS3, the iPhone), but the news, apple and sony says that he's a menace... and most of the news "hackers" are posers (script kids and other kind of idiots).
Have you ever tried a custom ROM? maybe that could help...

such a Good defend of Hackers community ( o! O! sorry : (let's call them Aliens )
NeverMind , let's get back to our problem :
Tip = First of all try to change your phone region to the other place ( for some people it works ! (Not for me !))
Finally I found the solution ! ( most of the people who taste this problem , upgraded their device to wp 7.8 ) So thats it ,
the first versions of Windows phone 7.8 ( 8858 ) had some problems like Radio issue & ... so last week microsoft released the next version of Wp 7.8 ( 8862 ) with so many Fix (such as fixing the problem with tiles )
If you find other solution ( I'm all ears ! )
GOOD LUCK!
Gosh! Forgot to subscribe to the thread so I could be notified of replies.
@faustolg: never thought about this being a radio issue since I have no problems whatsoever with calls or messages. How come the phone can make and receive calls using 2G frequencies but cannot browse the web?
One wild theory that I have is that maybe the mobile operator is sending configuration commands when the phone is turned on (proxies, APNs, etc) but somehow Windows Phone or the phone hardware cannot recognize those.
@SPIDER-7: What region are you talking about?
A while ago I updated to WP7.8 using the CAB Sender trick posted on XDA-Developers. Did the same thing when upgrading to WP7.5. My phone always was and still is working correctly for everything, except for this 2G issue. I haven't seen any radio updates from HTC for a while, however. The About screen says that the radio software version is 5.71.09.02a_22.51.50.21U, and the radio hardware version is A.12.0.D4.

Xiaomi Redmi 4x Sudden WiFi Issues

Hello there!
I have a Xiaomi Redmi 4x device and a few days ago the WiFi started to act up.
I decided to take a look at the logs and this is what I've found:
pastebin.com/w6VXqCWA
I use HAVOC OS 3.0 Android 10 (Q)
The device seems to work in very close proximity of the router but as soon as I move, the connection drops.
(I tried to re-flash the stock ROM and other ROMs, but the problem won't go away)
Thanks in advance, have a great day!
My known someone gave me his 4x to troubleshoot same problem.
I also using same phone too.
At first I have exchanged all hardware between two devices to find its a hardware issue or not (noob)
After that I put back all module to respected phone.
I really don't know what happened... the wifi issues gone!! ?

try turning off router for few seconds and start again and check if it works?

Hello thank you for your tips but I have tried complete wifi reboot, changing of wifi channel, connecting to a different network (same issue), others devices work fine; I tried multiple ROMs including stock firmware.
I'm starting to think the hardware is failing.
