No Alarm...? - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I wasn't woken to day to my usual alarm - so I checked and set one up for a few mins time but that again did not play. I changed the alarm tone and tried again - nothing....
Have just soft-reset before trying again - anyone else had problems with the alarm???
R

So, soft reset and then set an alarm for 2 mins time. Nothing happened. I turned it on 5 mmins later and the alarm starts....???
This is worrying...
I have the following installed:
FInixNOver FInix_VGA_Batttery_and_N...
PHM Registry Editor
Microsoft Remote Desktop Mobile
From X-Files Skype
Axis Communications AXIS camera Ex...
Anyone know of any problems?
R

Went into the MS alarm settings and made a change - now it all works...
Very odd...
I'd be interested to see if anyone else has seen this or is it just me /-(
R

Yep, the alarms in WinMo are a bit hit and miss - if I ever need to rely on them, for instance when travelling, I tend to set all three, one minute after the other, and set either a calendar reminder or a task reminder as well, for good measure. Oh and I soft-reset just before going to bed and put the phone into flight mode. That generally works OK.

Crikey - the alarms on my TD1 were perfect - never missed a beat.....
R

You're lucky, the flakiness I got with the alarms was on my TP1.

You could use G-Alarm for alarms, is free does the job.
I Switched FizzTraveler (wich i used mainly for alarms ) since it could not unlock my device and woul dplay a silend alarm. ( Nice if you need to wake up)
G-Alarm wakes me up and knows how to unlock my device. It works like a charm.

I've uninstalled the battery notification app : FInixNOver FInix_VGA_Batttery_and_N... as it was the only prog I didn't have on the TD1 - maybe it is conflicting??? Time will tell...
R

wasnt there some Bug in Galarm?
I should be getting my Topaz very soon and i use my Nokia E90 alarm to wake me up. Its a bit worrying that tte Topaz alarm isnt so reliable
Can the device be turned off so that it turns on automatically to sound the alarm?

It should wake for the alarm as long as the option to NOT do this is unticked. Like I said, never had a problem with the TD1 so hope that this was a one off glitch...
R

Def a wm thing. Various devices of my past have had alarm issues. I never trust them. I use third party alarms always. Gentimer and spb clock/alarm are two of my favs. Even then I still set a calendar alarm also.

Looking for a GOOD alarm clock...or to fix WolfClock

In moving from wm5 to wm6, my favorite alarm clock, WolfClock, seems to be broken. It works fine as long as the Kaiser is on. But if it goes off, when the time for the alarm comes, it turns on ok, but no sound is produced by the alarm. ARGHHH!
The developer is no longer working on this, so I don't think he will fix it.
So, my questions are:
a) there is a debug mode....anyone want to suggest what I should look for and how to "fix" this?
or
b) what's a good alternative? I tried SPB Time, WaWa Clock...didn't like either one. Other suggestions? (Can't stand the built-in alarms...so don't bother suggesting that!) Would prefer free but will settle for something pleasant, customizable, and can do alarms, snooze, and - my favorite - naps!
Thanks.
I use DelMar alarm clock and I really like it. The only issue I am aware of is that I am pretty sure it won't wake up the phone to sound the alarm, but since my phone is plugged in at night and I have the power settings to not turn the phone off if on external power, it's not that big of an issue.
.:Christian:.
enAlarmPPC
I use enAlarmPPC. Nothing fancy but it has worked 100% reliably for me. One of the nifty features to me is that when the alarm goes off almost the entire screen acts as a snooze button (you can tap anywhere on the screen to activate the snooze). & its Not bloatware (not bloated with useless graphics and such).

Delmar is the same way.
I'm also using enAlarmPPC. It does exactly what it has to do!
Works perfect with WM6 even with Slide2Unlock2 running not a problem.
I don't know what it is about WM6 but I've had a lot of problems with alarm clocks and timers not being able to wake the phone up to go off.
I have been using pTravel Alarm from BurrOak Software for three weeks now in my Tilt.
It works flawlessly, wakes-up the phone to sound the morning alarm and doesn't seem to have caused any freeze-ups at all.
It uses a large clock display. I set it at night before I pass out and it is about the only time I actually tilt my Tilt.

I Use SPB Time Its Really Nice it has a nice clock plugin and the alarm lets u put ur own wake up tones.
Download It Here!
admin edit: serial removed, warez is not allowed!
I am using Chronos Time Clock (www.activekitten.com).
Very reliable and never failed to wake up the device.
One of the very useful things for me is that you can pre-program it to send a text message at a specific time. Very useful for birthday wishes to go out at 00:00 when you are fast asleep.
I'm using CradleAlarm now, that is the successor of enAlarmPPC. Has many nice features and seems to be very reliable. And the price is OK, too!

another vote for chronos, but haven't used it for awhile. had the smartphone version w/ my mpx220 but it was buggy on my strtrk. i switched at that point to GenTimer, love it as well.
I'm running the PPC version of GenTimer on my Tilt and it's very nice, entire screen functions as 'SNOOZE' with a long-press and it never fails to wake the device up. Very customizeable, skins are kinda ick so I've rebadged the exe resources images and resigned it to run.
It includes alarms, clock, world time, stop watch, timers, etc.
Chris
I am also using Chronos and it works great. Another alarm that i used to use was enalarm pocket pc. They changed the name now to cradlealarm i think but they both work great.
I use GSAlarmClock ver 1.20
It's FREE and allows me to mute my phone so SMS and Email doesn't wake me up but the alarm still sounds.
Works flawlessly, never late for work thanks to the annoying alarm sound it makes that forces you to get out of bed!
My fav by far.

Clock alarm bugs?? Incredible...

Hello all,
The clock alarm of my Kaiser has a very unconfortable two bugs:
SCENARIO
----------
I configure the three posible clock alarms, at different hours: 7:00 AM, 7:15 AM and 7:30 AM. At this moment, it works perfectly, the three alarms raise and sound.
BUG #1
-------
Once the three alarms are configured and checked, if one or more are unchecked, but at least one is still checked, the THREE alarms will sound! So it seems to be that it is not possible to have just ONE alarm once you have configured and checked the three possible.
BUG #2
-------
Once the three alarms are configured and checked, if the hours are changed, it will make the phone to raise the new configured alarms and the old-non-existing ones!!! For example:
I configured & checked this three alarms: 7:00AM, 7:15AM, 7:30AM. The next day, I re-configure the three alarms to: 6:00AM, 6:05AM, 6:10AM. Then, in the morning the phone raised the alarms 6:00AM, 6:05AM, 6:10AM ... AND (INCREDIBLY)... the alarms of 7:00AM, 7:15AM, 7:30AM. How can it be possible???? If it is only possible to have configured three alarms at once???
Anyone experiencing this bug? Or anyone not experiencing it (but configuring alarms the way I do)??? Anyone with some information at respect?
Thanks a lot!
Hi
I have had an alarm go off an hour early (this wasn't when the clocks changed either), but thankfully don't use the alarm very often.
I can well believe the bugs exist
Regards
Phil
Did set the alarm once at 8.30am and it did not ring. Got up 10 minutes late and check my alarm settings, all was correct but it just did not ring. Ever since then, i lost faith in the build in alarm and started using SPB Time.
I had mullitple bugs with the WM built in alarms. On three different phones. 3125, then 8125, then 8525. I don't bother with it on the Tilt. I found the best solution is to use something else, like Spb Time. Or some other time program of your liking.
Yep, it's an all too well known WM problem. If however you run Memmaid or SKtools to clear duplicates in the "Notifications Queue" you will find it works well (for most folks anyway). I use the alarm for work and by routinely clearing the notifications queue (that sadly WM alllows to get cluttered with old stuff) I do not have problems.
Mike
I too have this exact problem! Only because I accidentally changed my time zone I get 9 alarms per day, monday to friday! Slack, WM6 has a Windows Update feature, they should bloody well use it to fix the problem! Useless turds...
Had the same problem the other day with alarms sounding that I had supposedly cancelled. After trawling through posts on this site I found the solution: I downloaded the free trial of Pocket Mechanic Pro from wizcode (handango) and ran the notification queue. This revealed 2 obsolete alarm settings which appear as a clock.exe items in the list. Deleted them both and the alarms ceased. Quite a good bit of software anyway. Will probably purchase when the 30 day trial finishes...
I think it's a fairly well known bug.
I think the easiest way to fix it is to disable all the alarms, then soft reset it. Then enable the alarms again and they should work as expected.
Install Tweakster and clear the cache files. You most likely have remnants of old alarm settings.
This problem of re-occurring canceled alarms surfaces if you have installed one of Schaps ROMs. Schaps does not believe in placing auto cache clean in his Roms.
Also this problem surfaces if you have installed a Travel Software or 3RD party Alarms like any of SPB products. Make sure to install a Task manager program like the HTC task manager or even a program like Memmaid, to clear all temp files, and to clean your reg cache.
I have memmaid but it does not find erraneous alarms.
Yesterday I set three alarms to 0700 and 0705 and 0710 (all AM).
Today I set three alarms to 1800 and 1805 and 1810 ( 6pm).
The phone rang at 0700 and 0705 and 0710 and then also at 1800 1805 and 1810.
I ran memmaid notification que, duplicates, dangling and expired. It didnt pick up the wrong ones.
I have to manually delete them.

Need an alarm clock app! help please :)

Hey all,
I was curious if anyone knows any good alarm clock apps. It's really quite annoying that the default WinMo alarm clock doesn't work if you have your device silenced, but I don't wanna be woken up at night from someone texting me or whatever.
Does anyone know a good alarm clock app that will work and override the system volume?
Thanks!
-yeagy
I use mort player, it has an option to start a playlist on alarm like IPODs do or play a separate file. It doesn't have to be on for the alarm to work.
Search google or xda for: Mort Player
I have been using pTravelAlarm, and its woke me up fine when the phone is on silent or vibrate.
Has 10 different alarms to set, and can use mp3 files as the sound.
Only problem i have found is, when it starts up when the phone is on standbye, it beeps. I have a soft alarm, because i hate being woken suddenly, which is what the beep seems to do when on 'loud'
Halftone: If you uncheck 'events' in 'sounds and notifications' the beep is gone
Another pTravelAlarm user here. It's one of the first applications I install on a new PDA / after a hard reset.
Thanks!
Okay, I will check out those apps,
Thanks guys!

CradleAlarm 4.0
I just swiched to the new version of pTravelAlarm, now CradleAlarm 4.0. Very reliable and much more responsive than pTravelAlarm when editing alarms. Same great "force volume" feature that sounds even if the ppc is on silent.
I use Chronos and it works great.
SPB time
I use SPB time..The alarms that you can set are quite loud and works well for me.

This is very good and free

I use this one also and so far i'm very pleased with it. Windows is known for the alarm bug but if you use SPB time you won't be supprised waking up to late because the alarm failed to go off.

I run SPB Time as well, its great both as an alarm and as a counter.

What alarm application do you use?

Hi folks
I'm just curious as to what alarm applications you guys are using. I'm find the built in "Clock & Alarms" to be somewhat limited as it only allows for 3 alarms.
I would like something similar to it, but to be able to easily add new alarms, and maybe even customize the ringtone/vibrations for them individualy, if possible.
Thanks for your interest

You won't find anything better than G-alarm
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=422362
I use the alarm functionality in MortPlayer.
It has the advantage of turning the volume up and launching itself (obviously).
This leaves my phone ready to resume playing the podcast or audio book I was listening to the night before with just one button press.
This affords me another 30 seconds in bed ;-)

I've tried them all, and for me, the best is phoneAlarm, PERIOD!!!
SPB Time
While not free, it is a nice option. Very easy to use.
After trying Mobile Shell, I tried just about everything else the SPB house has put out. Some I tried and deleted, like the lame SPB Online, this is one I kept.
i second G-alarm. nice if you are looking for a free program.
pTravelAlarm
I also agree that G-Alarm is one of the best. You can set multiple alarms for reoccurring times and days. Also, you have to make a ball run through a maze before you can hit the "Snooze" button. It kind of forces your mind to wake so you dont just roll over, hit a snooze and fall back asleep
Also, it also automatically turns the volume to max even if its on silent. Handy feature if you do like I do and leave your cell on silent all of the time when working, then forget to turn it back on later

Here's a good one, too.
SPB Time
Like someone said earlier: Since I use Spb Mobile Shell, I found that Spb Time is perfect. It includes an optional today plugin and can be a tab in Mobile Shell. It lets you set one-time alarms, recurring alarms and you can set specific sound files to each one (can also set to vibrate and auto-snooze).
I still use pTravelalarm.

very good, and finger-friendly. installed all of the others mentioned above and winded up using this. Still happy.

Need alarm but not ringing

Hi!
I'd like to ask for your help. What I want is to use my alarm (to wake me up) and at the same time ringing and vibration for incoming calls and SMS should be muted. I.e. alarm with phone profile set to Silent.
Currently I use Pocket WakeUp application which does not offer such possibility.
(This is no problem with my old SE K750 "dumb-phone".)
Thanks
i can suggest TWO options:
1. if you want to use the windows mobile built in alarm functionality, go to Settings->Clocks & Alarms and make sure that "Sound alarms even when the device is set to silent or vibrate" is CHECKED.
2. use "G Alarm"! you can find version 1.5.1 somewhere...it was the last version that was free. if you like it, go ahead and pay for the LATEST version. it is an EXCELLENT alarm application.
i personally use option 2. option 1 is available on most new versions of windows mobile. i'm not sure if it is present in windows mobile 6.0 but i am sure i have seen this option in every build of windows mobile 6.5 and 6.5.x that i have used.
Thanks, ASCIIker!
The problem I'm having with the 1st method is that I can't set the alarm sound to whatever I like (WM6.1)
So I'm probably going to try G Alarm.
Although it looks as though the OP has already decided to try Galarm, I thought I'd post to say that I quickly found version 1.5.1 last night and have used it succesfully today. It's a cracking little bit of kit and works as you would need it to.
You can switch your profile to mute or silent and the alarm will still go off in the morning. The added bonus for me was that you could personalise elements such as snooze time, puzzles to wake you up or prevent you snoozing, you can create a playlist of mp3's as your alarm tone, you can start other apps be default too.
Awesome bit of software and it's easy enough for a noob like me to understand.
I finally got to test Galarm. Well, on the positive side it works. And on the negative, it is quite slow on my HTC Kaiser
Edit: Well, it is slow, but it does not have to be running permanently
