I got a MMS from one of my buddies, and everything seemed normal. But as soon as I went back to my SMS/MMS inbox, the sender was not recognized as he originally was in my contacts list. Instead it just had a "+" and his mobile number as the sender. What can I do about this?

I downloaded a sms threaded text cab for my att tilt- my problem is that i can't send or receive MMS messages anymore. i've been looking for days to find a way around this because i love the threaded text, but i NEED my MMS capabilities. can you point me in the right direction or do i just need to abandon my threaded txt and revert back to the original to get my MMS back?
You could always upgrade to WM 6.1. It has threaded SMS built in.
this is true, but what about my mms...and now my mms wont work because i reverted to the original text format. its just saying that it is unable to send the picture message.
Im guessing you tried using Vito SMS chat. It was a nice app for threading your sms and loked nice too. But it takes over your messages folders. If it wasnt SMS chat you used then im guessing whatever program you installed did the same thing. I hated this cuz like you said, you then cant send or receive MMS. I looked for a long time to get around this. So now I am using Birdsoft's Xtreme Text which does not affect your message folders in any way. It simply just looks at your inbox and then just groups your messages by contacts so it looks like threaded sms. Then your phone handles MMS just like normal. So when you want to send or check sms just launch the Xtreme Text app. Then if you want to send or view MMS you just open your stock message folder.
So if your MMS is all messed up right now, I would do a hard reset to put everything back to normal, then reinstall all your favorite apps, then just install Xtreme Text to get that threaded sms feel you want.
Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has this problem as it is quite annoying. I have the standard WM6.1 rom from three australia (3.29.861.0 WWE).
I have SMS and MMS as one item in messaging and threaded sms is on. when sending and receiving SMS, its fine, but as soon as someone sends me an MMS, the whole thread for that person gets their name replaced with the phone number instead.
if I turn off threaded SMS and look at all the messages normally, I can see that all SMS's have the contact name as normal but all MMS's have the number instead of the name. If I click the number, it still goes to the correct contact in my phone book.
anyone seen this or know how to get names appearing on my mms's?

I got an MMS earlier from a friend whose number is in my phones contact list (phone memory - not SIM). The message displayed his number, not his name - despite him being in my contacts. This is annoying as I couldnt work out who it was from until I called the sender and his name flashed up at that point.
After searching google and XDA dev I can find many references to this exact issue, but no solutions
Anyone got any ideas??

I'm having the same problem. Always had it with all 6.1 ROMs. Or at least that's when I started noticing it. I just flashed the ATT rom so I'll see if I still get the same problem. I had it with Laurentius and HTC roms.

I just got an SMS and it displayed the senders name on the notification bubble.
When I closed the bubble and went to view it in Messaging the message showing in Inbox was also showing the senders name - the MMS messages above still only had senders numbers (even though one of the MMS senders had their name showing on an SMS below).
It looks like MMS messages are the cause somehow!?

If I want to send an sms or mms to more than 1 recipient, my phone used to easily duplicate the message to all persons selected in the "to" field, now it only sends to the first selected user. I just had an issue with my fingermenu app not showing the middle gray bar for answering calls so i reinstalled it and all is well, what cab should I get for reinstalling SMS/MMS to see if that clears it? I have a contact with her phone number plugged into the mobile slot. When I went to place a direct message homepage shortcut, it puts her address as xxxxx messaging dot sprintpcs dot com and wants it to send as an MMS, instead of just her mobile number and SMS. Why is it doing this? How do I fix it? Thanks.
