Tilt AT&T Splash Screen - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I bought this phone of eBay and it came with Windows 6.5 which was an awesome added bonus...
...but it has the Kumara v2 Splash screen on the phone.
Is there anyway to replace the Splash screen w/o having to flash the device.
I am def. not comfortable doing anything like that b/c I know I would BRICK my phone.
Please advise...
Thanks in advance.

you have to flash the image on to it. It really isn't a big deal as long as you read all the steps, like 3 times. Seriously, if it's already unlocked "and it is because it's flashed" it's so freakn simple to do..
In some cases all you do is download what you want, remove sim card and sd, sync the phone, and then run the file you downloaded.

Would these be the steps to follow?
Instructions for flashing custom splash screens on HTC Kaiser:
1. Install HardSPL.
2. Create a BMP file in paint, size must be 240x320, save it as BMP 24bit.
3. Download SplashTool
4. Load your BMP on nb_image_converter (included in SplashTool's zip) and save it as splash.nb
5. Open SplashTool.exe and convert splash.nb to new format.
6. Pack the resulting splash.nb into a NBH file using htc rom tool.
7. Flash your cusotm NBH using CustomRUU.

Yeah but you might already have the hardspl installed.

noob question: first bootscreen change

Hi there
re: HTC Himalaya. how do I change the first bootscreen? Pls can you give links to tools and provide instructions.
Cheers
I think what you are referring to is the welcome screen? Perhaps do a search for welcome.96 and see what comes up.
I had it in mind you just made an image the size of the welcome screen image and named it welcome.96.png and then just dragged it into the Windows folder (it will overwrite the original).
Having said that, Google it and find out how to do it exactly, don't take my word for it. But you should have enough information frfom what I have said to find out more.
I see its your First post..Welcome to xda-developers..sspecially for choosing Himalaya
To Change the Splash Screen..follow these steps :
Open any Image Editor
or Choose any Image that is 240*320 In Size
Its format Must be .PNG
and rename it to " welcomehead.96.png " (note : png is the extension )
connects your device via Active Sync or copy the splash screen to your Devices and replace place it in the \Windows Folder..it will ask to over right..Select Yes and You are done
Soft-Reset and Enjoy
PS. Search the Forum for ALOT of welcomeheads
the screen I want to change is the very first one that is shown when the machine is turned on, i.e. it appears as the device is booting up. Hope this makes sense.
Oh I suspect then you are not talking about Welcomehead/Splashscreen. Does the screen you are talking about feature the logo or name of a phone company/service provider? IE Telstra, Optus, Sprint, AT&T, Verizon, etc
yes, that's the one. On booting up it is replaced by the welcome screen, and then the wallpaper. I'm using Ather's 'Dark Edition'
i would like to change this very first image too. I hope someone know how to do it.
Hrmm, not sure how possible it is. I have both the o2 logo on one phone and Telstra on the other which I wanted to remove. I dare say it is part of the radio rom, not the OS rom. Basically, you can flash the Radio to a different version, just as you can flash the Operating System, though some say it is a bit more difficult.
No matter what rom I flash, those logos are always there, so I suspect they are part of the radio rom. I will investigate.
EDIT: Okay this guy has created a program to do it for the Prophet only, but he may be the person to ask as I would suspect he had the general knowledge of how to do it by hand before he created the program.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333194
Thoses two can be changed by editing the ExtRom file (ms_.nbf) from a 2003 Rom..Search the forum for WM2003 Edit in the Himalaya Wiki...i have also uploaded a Clean extrom..just replace the images init and then place it in the folder where your HimaUpgradeUT_noid.exe is and flash as normal
here is the ExtROM file : http://rapidshare.com/files/82299532/ms_.nbf
I think this way was working in WM5
Install extromunlocker
Soft reset
Start
Program
ExtROMTools
Unhid
Unlock
Folder will appear in the root
Inside this folder is the image need to be change
But I traied this extromunlocker cab file in WM6.1, I could not find the Extrom.
Thanks for the method - however, I'm new to this and would appreciate a bit more hand-holding if you don't mind. Can you give a more detailed stepwise method?
TIA
It wont work if u ahve Partitioned your DOC..because that was the Storage where these files were kept
Well ok..just tell me what u cant understand
See here ..
Hi,
as Ather described, I did it successfully last year this way
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=220799&page=12)
as described, I restored my ExtRom with DOC_Restore, took the T-Mobile 1.72 Update (http://xdazone.india372.server4you.d...d.php?id=3373), extracted the ms_.nbf (ExtROM) , changed the splashes with "Windows Mobile 2003 ROM Editor" and updated the ExtROM. Works well.
I'm not sure if the t-mobile extrom could be used for other version of Himalaya than the MDA II.

New VGA Boot and Splash Screens (now with manila background!)..

Got a little confusing, so I'm rewriting this post:
Here are a few boot and welcome splash screens I made (as well as a transparent PNG of the HTC logo that I drew from hand in case anyone wants it ... It's the fourth image down there, named transHTC.png).
Each one of these can be used as a welcome splash screen pretty easily ... All you have to do is rename the image to 'welcomehead.192.png" and stick it in the windows folder. You may run into permissions issues, but you can change the permissions on the file using something like Total Commander.
If you don't want to mess with permissions, I've included a cab file for the blue floral background + windows mobile 6.1 text image (the first image named welcomehead.192.png) called "splash.cab". Note: This cab will overwrite your current welcome splash screen image and can not be uninstalled (afterall, all it's doing is overwriting an image.) I can make other cabs for the other images upon request.
I've also included two roms (RAPHIMG.zip and HTC_logo_w.zip) that you can flash to replace the default boot splash screen. The first one, RAPHIMG.zip, contains the rom with the blue floral background and HTC logo while the second one, HTC_logo_w.zip, contains the plain white with HTC logo. Flash them the same way you'd flash other nbh files, either by using RUU or the SD card method. To perform the SD card method:
1) Unzip the zip file and rename the included nbh file to "RAPHIMG.NBH"
2) Put the RAPHIMG.NBH file in the root of your SD card.
3) Reset your device using the button on the bottom (next to the miniUSB port) while holding down the Volume Down button.
NOTE: This will put your device into the bootloader ... don't be alarmed!
4) Follow the prompts to flash the new rom (don't worry, it only affects the splash screen.)
5) When everything is done, reset the device again using the button on the bottom and stare in awe at your beautiful new splash screen.
Would it be possible for you to make one for the first bootscreen with the htc logo? Would be greatly appreciated , I just installed this one and its is Great! I am keeping it
I made a plain white one not too long ago over here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=465172
I'll make one with the same floral background but the HTC logo instead of the text tomorrow and package it up as a rom (splash only of course) so keep an eye out for it.
I'll make some more if there is an interest.
Can you please make a cab for your upcoming one
Made one myself... Not my image but I made the cab file for it.

lotion said:
I got sick of my old splash screen so here's a new one. Just run splash.cab.
Note: This is the loading splash screen, not the boot splash. VGA, portrait only.
EDIT:
I added a matching boot screen and packaged it up as a rom (RAPHIMG.zip). You can flash it like you would any other ROM (it only overwrites the splash, everything else remains intact). The easiest way to flash it is as follows:
put RAPHIMG.NBH in the root of your SD card.
Hit the reset button on the bottom of your Touch Pro while holding the Volume Down button. You'll go into the bootloader.
Follow the prompts. When it's done flashing, hit the reset button again.
Oh, and one more just for kicks.
Here's a boot splash with just the HTC icon (HTC_logo_w.zip). I ended up drawing it by hand because I couldn't find one large enough for my liking.
I've also included the HTC icon I drew on a transparent background (the seemingly larger HTC logo below) in case anyone wants to use it. All I ask is that you give credit to me for drawing it.
And here's another welcome splash using the default manila background.

splash.cab is the blue background with the Windows Mobile 6.1 text.
I'll make cabs of the other ones tomorrow. You can always try renaming the images to welcomehead.192.png and putting them in your Windows folder in the meantime.
Do I need to flash HardSPL before I change my default splash screen by following the above directions? Does it remove the entire AT&T splash screen completely, including the 3g animation and everything? That would be great.

HardSPL is a requirement whenever you attempt to flash anything onto the phone. Both of the nbh files above will replace the ATT boot screen.

Any RUU will do...you can find one on any of the ROM threads. It won't let me upload it here since it's an exe file. Beware that some anti-virus programs tend to see them as trojans -- they are not.

Nope, they're all 480x640 (VGA). Did you try to use the 4th image (transHTC.png)? If so, it's not meant to be used as a splash image ... That's just a copy of the HTC logo I drew in case others wanted to use it. Use the 3rd image (HTC_logo_w.png) instead.

No, I tried using the one with the diamond background (labeled welcomehead.192.2.png). It doesn't come up full screen. All I did was rename it, then replaced the one in the Windows directory.

Image file not found, help please!

Hello people.
I have minor problem over here, I have flased my rom before but in a different way Through the xperia x1 phone with the usb cable in, all I had to do was to install a file through the pc.
But there is another way Id like to do it now, I have a .image file and have renamed it to "kovsimg.image" and I did also install HARD_SPL before.
To make it easier for u to help me.
1. Install hard spl
2. put the kovsimg.image into the memory card
5. Remoed the USB cable
3. turned of the phone
4. Pressed down lower sound and on/off button together (I got to the correct place where there are different colors.
5. Image file not found!
At nr 5., that is where the problem is. Why does it say Image file not found?
I have also tried with .nbh file 2, occuring the same problem though.
Thanks!
The filename should be "kovsimg.nbh"

But in another thread that is sticky, said that it can both me .nbh and .image
So the fact that was said is wrong I guess?
Well that will not either fix the problem, before the .image I tried with a kovsimg.nbh file and had the same problem.
Thanks
Make sure the filesize is the same so you have copied the all of the file "kovsimg.nbh"
happens to me sometimes that there is missing a few megabytes and the phone dont find a image..

You only hard_spl ones, you can make so many flashings you want but remember to do a hardreset after flashing..
did u try to search the forum?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=469300
boy, you really haven't read the stickys or haven't understand them fully...
just be glad that this flash-process is pretty stable and it's almost impossible to brick one's phone beyond revival.
read them again!
but to summarize it:
- you only have to do hard-spl once. until you flash stock-spl (that's not stock-rom!) it remains there forever.
- regardless if flashing via usb or microsd, the filetype has to be .nbh
- looks to me as if you didn't change the filetype of the image, but just the filename. so it actually is "kovsimg.nbh.image" right now, which will not be accepted by bootloader (the tricolor-screen-thingy).
check these two things before flashing again:
1. check if hard-spl was successfull:
take your sd-card out, and enter bootloader. it will now stay on tricolor screen. there it should read "SPL-0.72.OliNex". (among other stuff)
if it reads "SPL-0.72.0000" or "78" you haven't succeeded in hard-spl -> read the sticky again.
2. check the filetype of your image-file:
get your windows to show filetypes (how depends on which version, google it) and make sure the file's name is really just "kovsimg.nbh", nothing more.
(via usb-cabel it has to be "ruu_signed.nbh", btw)
put the kovsimg back on your sd-card (directly to root, meaning not into a folder), put it back in and enter bootloader again. follow the instructions on screen.
if you followed these instructions correctly, it will work now.
to flash any other roms in the future you just have to name the file right and put it on your sd-card -> bootloader. (again, hard-spl will not be needed.)
after flashing finished do a hard-reset! when flashing via sd you have to take the battery out and back in to do a restart. that's the perfect moment:
- take battery out
- put it back in
- press and hold (!) the two silver-buttons under the screen
- press the power-button shortly (while still holding the two silver ones!)
- phone will vibrate and enter a white screen
- release the two buttons and follow instructions on screen
When you downloaded the ROM did you make sure to extract it first with either WinZIP or WinRAR before you renamed the file? ALL ROMs are compressed usually with WinRAR to save time uploading. Then you download and extract the file. Then you rename the image file to the respective name on how you wish to flash your phone.
Thanks for the replies but the problem is still here :/
I checked the bootloader and it said "SPL-0.72.OliNex", which means I have installed the HARD_SPL correctly.
Atm I have Energys rom installed, but I didnt install it the same way as this way I am trying to do now. I just had to have the cable checked in and follow an installation and it was done.
Right now I have tried with several roms but none has worked, for the moment I am trying to get this rom to work "Valkyrie_v3.8 FireStorm" without success ofcourse..
I did everything correct, I know that I have. I also followed a video guide to check I made it correct.
The file name is kovsimg.nbh (Ive checked it and it is a .nbh file, my brother also confirmed it).
When I try to flash it, the USB cable is out, the phone is shut (tried to pull out the battery 2), but still the same problem "No image file!".
And yes, I did first extract the file. The size has the same amount as in the winrar file so nothing is missin. After that I changed the file name and copied it into the root of Memory card.
PS. Is this the only way to flash it, I mean is it not possible to do the same way as I did with energy's? (Its the same way as installin HARD_SPL)

Befor this make sure your microSD is Formatted to fat32 using a PC. If not, it will not work.
or you could just do it the same way as the energyrom
i.e. customRUU.exe
well, sounds like it's your sd-card. probably formating it again with fat32 will help. there are also reports of some sd-models/brands not working at all. there's a thread for this by gtrab, i think. although there it says "kingston" cards don't work at all - i'm flashing with a kingston 8gb for almost a year now... ^^)
if you choose to get customruu.exe for usb-flash DON'T use the one from hard-spl, that's a special one.
try remove SD card and flash without PC
The SD-cards format is Fat32, but I used a different way this time by doing as Jonny~ mentioned and it worked all fine!
Thanks for the help, great service.
Take care and wish me luck in the future with my xperia

[TUT] Task 29 from HD2 now confirmed to work for Blackstone

What does Task 29 (hex edited) do = It formats the partition drive of your device where the ROM resides.
Why use this = it is observed and several ROM cooks even advice to do this prior to flashing in the HD2 thread that it gives
a thorough cleaning of the partition, removing any leftover junks thereby giving a fresh partition for the ROM to operate
to give you an idea of what Task 29 is look at this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtTDuc4V4cU
DONT USE AN SPL .nbh file
Task 29 from Leo thread:
Positively confirmed TO WORK for the Blackstone
using HSPL Olinex - now confirmed to work with USPL http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6024181&postcount=30
Using Windows Vista 32bit
Video Guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZE2oFcNmn7I
step1 - make sure you have HSPL Olinex in your device
step2 - create folder and place here the Task 29 .exe file and the Radio .nbh file
(the nbh file could be anything related to the Blackstone ie., splash screen)
step3 - create another folder and place here your chosen custom ROM.
step4 - enter bootloader, connect via usb, then from the first folder double click task 29 .exe follow prompts.
step5 - phone will reboot but will get stuck in "smart mobility" screen, it CANT pass beyond this
as the phone has NO ROM on it, the drive partition where the ROM resides has been formatted
by Task 29.
Step6 - remove battery to reset, enter bootloader, then from the second folder, flash your custom ROM
Using Windows XP
1. make a folder and put together task 29 and the .nbh file of Dutty
3.9xt (could be any ROM nbh or any Radio nbh or a splash screen nbh)
2. connect phone (using XP) then run task 29 exe file
3. when it finished (a long time) it booted but without the red numbers and
words on the lower right hand side - this is a confirmation that the device
has been formatted
4. make another folder with two files (ex., DUtty 3.9XT .nbh file and the RUU)
5. enter bootloader, connect via usb then run RUU (HSPL Olinex already installed previously) your chosen custom ROM will now be flashed[/B][/SIZE]
for anyone experiencing "invalid device ID", use an official .nbh ROM file
(extract the .nbh file from an official stock ROM) and use this together
in the same folder with Task 29 .exe file (process will take longer. . .)
Using Windows 7 by tin 2404

Using Windows 7 64bit by corwin_de_amber
1. Reboot PC and press F8 when reboot starts
2. Choose in boot menu ""Disable digital signature enforcement"
3. After reboot connect HD to PC via usb and wait for Sync Center to connect
4. Run task29.exe from here for example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ghlight=task29
5. Perform all the steps of task29 (next>next>...)
6. When HD get stuck on HTC screen remove and insert the battery.
7. Flash your ROM as usual. If you want to flash from the card copy blacimg.nbh of ROM to the card before you start task29.

Great, let me know how it goes.
I'm sure this will be a hit here if it works as it certainly cuts down on the time taken to reflash to stock and then cooked. I run the Task29 now before every flash and on the HD2, the whole process Task29 and rom flash takes only 5 minutes.

Can't argue there, sorry bro
A question:
If I use the ShaDrac RePack version (as for I understand), when I launch the exe (without any .NBH in the same folder) it only perform a format of the memory and the PPC restart in white screen (no more ROM in...).
At this point, can I simply restart the HD in bootloader mode and flash my favorite ROM via microSD ?
I definetly prefer this way to flash ROMs
Thanks, Marco.

Can someone help me convert this ROM ASAP?

My Top screen of my phone literally just slide off the bottom, So I need to send it back in to get a new one, But my charging port wont let my phone sync with my computer for some reason. So can someone please convert this new ROM from http://www.htc.com/us/support/tilt-2-att/downloads/ so I can flash it with my SD card and return it soon!

All You Have To Do Is Download The Rom From The Url You Posted Then When You Have It On Your Computer Right Click On It & Select Extract Files Then Open The Folder That Gets Extracted & Find RUU_signed.nbh & Rename It RHODIMG.nbh Then Put It On Your Storage Card & Flash & You Should Be Good To Go
Flashing Via MicroSD Card
1. Make sure your microSD is Formatted to fat32 (you dont have to delete all files but it is safer if you do)
2. Download your prefered Rom from the Rhodium Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your PC
3. Goto the Roms Folder and rename the .nbh file to RHODIMG.nbh
4. Copy the RHODIMG.nbh file to the root of your MicroSD Card
5. Plug the MicroSD Card into the phone
6. Enter the BootLoader screen, you will first see a tri-color screen with the phone and SPL Information at the top
7. Follow the On Screen instructions to start the update
8. After flash has completed, press the reset button with the stylus to reset the device.
I Hope This Helps!!!

Rlly? cause I was told if any software is found on the phone when its sent back, ill be charged for a full price?
If you are on AT&T, you have to restore the stock ROM or you will be charged. You also need to restore the SPL.
Problem
I flashed abck to default stock rom some time agon and they voided my warranty just because id didnt return to stock spl. They are full of nonsense over here
i have done numbers of returns of from tilt 1 too the fuze and the tilt 2 for warranty exchange and never had a problem but if u feel confortable follow the steps from the previous post to conver the file over just extract the file and then convert the name over to rhodimg for the nbh filr and put to ur main root of the sd card and flash it that way it will install the stock rom

Think i got it!
Just let us know when you need help with flashing back to stock rom btw with the stock rom that was just updated for the AT&T with sense it has a lot of problems so you may want to flash it as soon as you get the replacement.

Just make sure to flash stock rom and respl your phone if you hgarsled it. coz spl voids the warranty.
it doesn't matter how many softwares you have on your phone when i sent my phone i had spbmobile shell installed on it plus nitrogen core player and all the crap so it doesn't really make any difference.
my phone had a little crack near usb and when they asked me i said nothing is wrong with it there is not even a small scratch on my phone
