Hi,
I found a flv player (tested) and maybe divx (haven't tested yet)
You can get it from here : http://www.mobilesoft.kr/files/yxflash.apk
Have fun with it
It has ploblem with auto-rotate. I recommend to turn the auto-rotate off when using it.
To put the video in landscape just slide your finger on the screen
Nice, I'll have to check this out....
Lets hope it works as advertised....
EDIT: Plays WMV files that my previous Video Player would not. Excellent.
Hmmm, interesting. It forces closes as soon as I try it. Literally as soon as I click on the app to start it.
Did the same thing to me, just hit wait. It'll get through it.
Pretty buggy app though. But it worked
it works only on cupcake

Why you gotta bust chops? lol
tried it with different worked.
Did not work for AVI, mp4 video is very choppy but audio is fine, did not test other types
I ve tried it with :
-flv worked very well from dailymotion
- avi only 1 frame then it quit...
- mp4 worked better than meridian with files with resolution higher than 480x320 but very laggy
They have to worked on it. But it looks promising.
Non embedded codecs (audio or video) will be stuttering messes owith Android because they have to go through Java to work. It beats the cpu to death and is the reason Coreplayer have bailed form trying to port their app to Android- at least until better hardware access is provided.
People are wasting their time trying to make these apps.

OK, so I have recorded a Video on my phone and can see it with the PPC Media Player v10 on it.
I get this .mp4 file to my PC. Now what? Windows Media Player has no friggin support to view .mp4 files!
I found alternative viewers, that all nice, but how do I convert this so I can see it on any pc or inclusively upload to lets say YouTube?
Try Quicktime....
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/
VLC media player...
Thanks to both of you. I tried both, and VLC actually has no audio...
Re: Quicktime, yes, it is pretty ubiquitous, but requires QuicktTime to be installed.....
I need to convert this to something more portable?
I changed to the other format.

what , where?
In the settings of your camera you can change the format it creates. Put the phone into video mode and then go into the camera settings.
You just need to get the right codec pack to enable Windows Media Player to support .mp4 files. A quick google search for 'windows media player mp4' turned up what looks to be a good howto on the subject:

I see. I will give the h.263 a test.. not sure yet what characteristics this codec has... let me google it...
Great. Now I am able to see the video on my PC... but still haven't found a nice (aka free) conversion app that would allow this to be seen on other computers.
Anyone with good and free application suggestions?

I envy you guys. I still own my O2 xda iis and like it very much. I wish I could afford this. I just want one that's unlocked.
The KLite Codec Pack, which is really handy (tons of codecs in one install) gives WMP support for the MP4 and h263 vids. 3GP can only be played in Quicktime, I belive. Quality wise, they should all be about the same (pretty terrible).

I did some thing like that with my v2.5 and the video did not play as well, also had the same error with window media.
But then I fixed it with v2.7.
nope, didnt do that
Ive noticed the same problem.
i didn't delete any codec whatsoever. There is no way this is fixable?
BTW, when i had 2.3 BETA, it worked fine.

I meant itje may have deleted the codec. If it's a problem across multiple users of that ROM, post it in that ROM's thread to see what can be done. Besides, I'm half asleep so I'm not even sure if I'm using complete sentences.
I'm using İtje's Rom 4,4 I can't play video files with media player and Tcmp
I need some help finding a media player that plays Realvideo VBR files. I have been using the search. I can't seem to find anything.

I agree. I don't have video, but audio works fine.
Can anyone make -
RealPlayer
Version 11
work on our phones????
I think you won't get any software work with new Real Player as the codec driver never release to Windows Media Platform so far, i heard is becoz due to the license agreement between Nokia and Real. Correct me if i m wrong, i also hope i can play rmvb file in my phone instead wasting money to buy a device just for doing this.
i found some files and reg from somewhere and got rmvb to run on my fuze, but it is really slow. Not sure if it's worth it. PM me your email and i could send you the files.
Well I had 2 mp4 videos previously on my sd card and they played nice from the gallery in 2.1 but since i updated... the phone says " this video cant be played"
Anyone else with this problem?
Any solution?
thanks in advance
you worried me there since i never attempted to play any videos since my manual update to froyo from stock att yesterday.
my mp4s still played.
i was on unrooted att update 1 stock. just manually flashed frf85b yesterday and it still works for me on the gallery.
hope you are able to sort your problem out.

@antikryst thanks
any ideas anyone? anyone else with the same problem?
my nexus is an at&t stock by the way
Yes, my phone too has the same problem. I had few files which stopped playing since 2.2 update. That said, I downloaded another mp4 file and my Nexus One played it perfectly fine. Weird.
are you on the new radio? the new radio has different codecs...
Same problem here man. I have about 11 movie's on my phone + every episode of King of the Hill. King of the Hill is rmvb so I use RockPlayer for those. When I go to the gallery in my videos folder it shows my 11 movies 5 of them have thumbnails and play and then there is the others that don't have thumbnails and don't play but the weird thing is I used the same converter for all of them and the same converter settings and they all played on 2.1 but now only 5 out of 11 do. Weird stuff

No it Rocks
I've got the same problem on my nexus one. I can't play most mp4 files and other stuff anymore. RockPlayer is not bad but the video decoding engine of RockPlayer does need more energy as the internal one.
Also rockplayer does not support streaming, so rtsp:// links don't work anymore.
Another issue is with the twitter and twitvid website. It will server a mp4 file (twitvid) of which the system player is capable of playing. RockPlayer is not available to play these files after opening through the twitter client.
I would be very happy about any tip to debug this problem.
Things I tried so far with no success:
Delete cache and data of:
* Gallery
* Mediastore
* Meridian
* RockPlayer
* YouTube
Hi,
I want to play tv-show 720p MKVs on my droid 3.
However there's a problem.
The stock player plays MKVs fine (very smooth) but there's no audio.
I then tried rockplayer and moboplayer.
Both play the MKVs fine too in hardware mode, but again no sound
In software mode, both players produce sound however now the video is very choppy.
What player WILL play MKVs properly?
Thanks
Have you tried the VLC alpha?

Just tried it (neon version).
It has sound but like the others..very choppy and corruption too.
Read some good things about dice player. Tried the beta but it doesn't even show video (all corrupted colors etc).
I had the same problem with stupid-ass DICE player, big disappointment. Mobo is good for standard def, but not for hi-def/MKV.
The .MKV standard was invented by the guys at CoreCodec IIRC, which would explain how I used to be able to play 720p MKV's on my old 528MHz Tilt2 with CorePlayer; the player is naturally a master of its own codec... Do they make CorePlayer for Android? I bet it would totally play anything MKV better than any other player.

The thing is, it DOES play the MKV just great! It's very very smooth on hardware acceleration.. If they could just add the sound from software decoder mode..
All TV-shows use Dolby AC3 48000Hz 6ch audio. I know it's not the most simple, but how hard can it be to convert 6>2 channel and play this?
Hrm... Have you tried CorePlayer? I think they have a demo/trial version.
[EDIT] - Well crap-sticks. Looks like they don't have it for Android yet. It's $30 though, so not a cheap app anyways. It would have been a surefire method though...

@gksmithlcw CorePlayer is available for OEM licensing on Android right now, but no date is set for a consumer release.

Ill try that file, btw atm I dont have any mkv smaller than 4gb so no way to play it w/o splitting.
but I tried a 1080p mov on d3, and it plays silky even with the default player.

the file you linked was removed (teporarily I presume) while I was downloading it.
It has the ac3 audio, i tested other ac3 6ch audio and they are working.
BTW, just in case, trans coding just the audio of a video file, with avidemux, is matter of a couple of minutes, practically on an actual pc, it takes less than copying the file on the phone.

I don't want to convert my files.. ALL tv shows are in this format.
It's not like its rocket science.. MKVs like this have existed for a long time and are used a lot. I don't see why it's not supported?

I am. I just ticked "show fps" in rockplayer. Im averaging 13fps in software mode. I find it very hard to believe your droid 3 magically adds another 11fps (nearly double!)
try qqplayer, it usually works for people incompatible with rock player
