Hey man, thanks for that one
In dutch:
He kerel, bedankt man... Ik heb hem liever engels, maar ik pluk wel ff de GPRS settings etc. eruit
Tnx man, just e-mailed them last week about this...
Does anyone know whether it is AKU2 or AKU2.2?
It's AKU 2 not 2.2
Too bad, at the moment i am using a Qtek AKU2 rom, so i get it won't be worth upgrading. I was hoping for a Rom with native clock in the taskbar.
Ah, well, lvtime does its work pretty good...

Then you can upgrade using this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=51714
I know, but i am one of the suckers who prefers his telephone in Dutch
Thanks anyway.
Just a quick message with my findings...
This ROM ROCKS!!! It is even faster than the Qtek 2.17 having exactly the same software installed.
Even TomTom starts up faster. Everything is so responsive. It is a definite GO for this ROM.
Installed software:
smartskey (omapclock 252)
SPB Diary
SPB Plus
LVtime
DKToday
Winmobile PhoneProfiles
TomTom
Resco Explorer
Total Commander
Memmaid
And still flying!
I upgraded to this rom,and I must say it runs great.
Just one question, I have noticed that the date/time on the todayscreen is now on 2 rows. example:
Code:
===========================================
Tuesday 12:00
30 May 2006
===========================================
Is this normal in this rom? Or is something screwed up on my device??
nope, your phone is alright. its the only drawback for this rom. Try LVtime to get a one line clock again.
thnx m8, I was worried there for a second.
I'll give the program a try!

LVtime works like a charm.
can i put this rom on my uk t-mobile vario and keep everythng in english? i imagine i get the option to pick a language on first boot?
The vario would be a good phone if it wsnt so slow, so i hope i can put this on mine and speed it up!
When a rom like this will be available, and will it ever be available?
Does anyone here have certified information by HTC?
Of course beside the "facts" writen in Wiki page about 5th of the month...
Nadavi.
yes- and where would we download this ROM? When will the P3600 ship with this already loaded for us nuffies who dont want to brick the pda/phone?
Now if only the phone had a fm radio as well...
With Windows Mobile 6 (I heard Crossbow is going to be sixth WM) just around the corner, I hope HTC stuff that into the next ROM, along with the GPS, possible FM radio and better-use of the ATI chip.
could i get xbox360 emulator for the Trinity ??
ROTFL
I am told the new ROM will increase available memory to 1GB so that Vista can be installed on the Trinity.

ROTFL You don't have the xbox360 ROM on your trinity yet? I already run the xbox 720 ROM, Windows Vista 2012 and the latest ATI 3D HD SUPERFLUXCONUCTOR GPU on mine. But now the phone itself is no longer working :-(

Would you guys quit posting threads with subjects like this?
I mean, how would you like it if I started posting threads called "AMAZING NEW WAY TO DOUBLE BATTERY LIFE?" and inside it was "Hay guys, any ideas how to do this?"
Just give it another week and we'll have our damn GPS.
Well, assuming that HTC is REALLY going to post new ROMs, and assuming that HTC is REALLY going to enable GPS support in the new ROM.
Btw, any chance of getting them to enable the FM Radio while they are still in the generous mood?

Sorry... I forgot to tell that the test is made in Paris, France (French language web site)
But, there is no details about the ROM... However, they mentionned that the tested ROM, includes a test version of TomTom Navigator.
The article, mainly compare the performances between the Glofiish X500 and HTC P3600 GPS devices (see the pictures of article 2).

STILL.. It's only 2 years
indeed. at least tomtom from cruise works. IGO8 doesn't, tho. shmug =/
wait for it to be out on an operator - probably a month, then we'll see roms with TT7 inside them.
I really do hope so, but as far as my knowledge goes, operators *REMOVES* tomtom. they want people to use their GPS system ie; AT&T TeleNAV.

It's not the version on the Cruise CD, mate. it's tomtom 6.032, the latest one. I'm not sure, but I think you can extract the tomtom directories from your cruise to your diamond
I'm running Garmin Mobile XT (latest version) on my Diamond and it's excellent. Very smooth and rich interface
there is a supposed tomtom7(check athena mobile 6 forums). though that is not the true tt7. the real one is under beta. and it also has a different look(not that much different though) than any of the ones out there now.
Extracting the new TomTom7
Is someone here able to extract the new tomtom7 from the new htc touch diamond rom??
htc claims its in the new rom embedded and not extractable

listen, there is NO TOMTOM7! and it is not in the ROM.
maybe not in your country, but in holland and england it is. tomtom doesnt release any info and isnt gonna sell it as softwarepack because of all the piracy with ver.6
so if you so sure it doesnt excisist thenw why are two official websites talking about it and verifying it

NO TOM TOM 7 WITH DIAMOND ROM
nor is it embedded....
Dear all,
I have a Window Mobile 6 full version, I wonder, could I install it on Xda IIi like on desktop OS? Needn't new WM6 ROM for XDA IIi?
As has been stated to its death there is NO WM6 ROM for the Alpine. Wish there was but there isn't.
WM6 ROM
As Dee Dee said, there is no WM6 ROM that will work with the Alpine. Apparently it is an issue with the processor as I have read on forums on XDA Developers and other sites.
I live and wait so I can use my Alpine again....
Mine isn't dead, far from it. i have one piece of software that won't run on WM5. Well the latest version will but the version i paid for won't and as it does all i need it to in its current version i see no need to upgrade either the software or the XDA.
Yes i do have a WM5, soon to be WM6, Trinity, but the Alpine just keeps on going.

No as i said the version of the software i have paid for is NOT compatible with WM5, so the Alpine survives on WM2003.

Ok guys. I am noob. Running 2.3.4. Loving It. But why oh why does the gps suck so bad. It is slow and when it finally connects, it is not very accurate. What should I do? I dont wanna buy another device to go running... Hope you can help?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Which Country are you from Coz I think you. Have installed 2.3.4 manually (that is the europe version) and you are from a different country so GPS is slow and laggish !

I am from Denmark. And sluggish is right...

flash another modem i guess.. try zsjpg, many said it was very good midem...

I am in Canada and have had lousy GPS performance from the start. I flashed JVR with KG3 (Bell) modem and CSC. GPS works great.
I have tried different ROMs from stock to far from stock and different ROMs act differently on GPS performance.

Sorry to say but IMHO i9000 GPS is bad. You can make some settings mods to get faster fix but that's all. It is somehow working when you have good sats view (it reports good signal with fix from enough number of sats) but when for ex. driving trough inferior sat signal area (streets surrounded by tall buildings, etc.) you are out of luck. Fix position goes to hell.
I've experimented with my old wm phone, i780. It has not so good Qualcom GPS One chipset and I managed to send it's fix using BT to i9000. Guess what? It was ok! Sat fix was reported in i9000 as a poor accuracy but in fact it was ok and stable while using it with maps applications. Go figure! Old, bad i780 GPS shows better then "I can see more satellites with stronger signal and I have better accuracy" i9000 build in GPS.
After this test I connected external BT GPS on MTK chipset. I have to wait ~30 second for fix but after that I have no nasty surprises driving my car through "canyon" streets.
Its got nothing to do with the ROMs. I9000 is well known for its ****ty GPS.

Would you share with us, where you got this wisdom from?
My SGS works perfectly well regarding GPS performance for more than 6 months now not depending on my current location: US west coast and Hawaii it worked great as well as in Italy and various parts of Germany. Fix is usually the within seconds (presuming free sight to the sky). Also the android version had no influence: I started with stock 2.2, upgrading to various 2.2.1, 2.3.3, 2.3.4 and now 2.3.5 (also with different custom kernels).
Where and when did you having GPS problems get your SGS? Maybe there is batch with faulty soldered GPS antennas. However, I don't see a reason why the SGS should have a bad GPS performance in general.
