Have orderet it today.
I inform you all when i have replaced it.
Regards Nmouse
A bit late, but the how to may help you, i posted this on another forum
ive just done the same, ordered a screen from this ebay shop
http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/ECPhone__W0Q...p;submit=Search
total is £34.16 when you add in shipping insurance, they told me it would be sent out in 48 hours business post from Hong Kong and it comes with all the toolsto do the job (bloody handy for other stuff that needs to come apart too)
and then with this guide
http://bignfg.blu.livefilestore.com/y1pUz4...er.pdf?download
it seems all so simple, but i have taken alot of things apart before, hopefully my screen will turn up tomorrow, and i dont think the 3-5 hours to do the job is accurate, but we will see, looks like i'll have an extended luch break if it is

Hello,
I think HTC Kaiser's screen is too delicate. Mine got cracked yesterday very easily. I've had many PDA phones and it never happened to me.
Does anyone know where can I get a replacement screen?
Thanks,
Mario.
How did it crack, you pushed too hard when trying to use TouchFlo? it fell. Cause there has to be a reason that gives you the impression the screen is too delicate
ha ha, that sucks
Well, depending on how long you've had it, maybe it's covered under the 30 day warranty for return? I can't imagine how someone could break it, so it sounds like manufacturing defect to me??
Sound good to you??
Give it a try....
Let us know how it happened and if you get it fixed!
Good luck!
And to Doug2873... Don't make the guy feel worse than I'm sure he already does!!

do you have any other parts?
When I read certain posts in these forums, I wonder: So annoying online.... what it would be like to meet these people in real life? Although I guess everybody has one of these in their office...

Amen I agree

Thank you all for your replies...I live in Mexico City and currently I'm in the US and there's no way of getting a replacement screen. HTC asked me to ship them the unit and they would charge between $170 and $350 USD for fixing it.
njbridges: I sent you a PM with my contact info.
I think we need a hard case for this device. Has anyone seen one?
Mine cracked because someone pushed me and I fell on it.
Thanks!
Regards,
MN
I think if SOMEONE fell on any PDA out there, the screen cracks is no wonmder. i think...
I read a Post where someone have cracked his PDA (i think mda3) because it feld off off the front window on his car and down to the gearbrick(?).. and it cracks the screen 2times.
I don´t have the feeling that the screen is more sensible as other screens...
Sorry for the engl. i´m from germany.

I too cracked my screen pretty traumatized about it, superiorgadgets is looking into it, but I will pm njbridges as well as a backup.
I'm unable to get the cracked screen out of the device, I have all the screwdrivers but I can't find a way of opening the Kaiser.
Any ideas?
Hope this helps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337102
Mine just cracked today, for no reason. It has never been dropped or abused, it's in new condition, not a nick or scratch on it, I'm extremely careful. It was on the counter charging and I went to take it off the charger and saw the screen was cracked. I called ATT and they told me I'm SOL, it would be $498 to repair.
yeah if u are comfortable best bet do it yourself and save $300-$400
I found the part for about $100 from another member here. I'm tempted to just replace it and sell this phone. While I loved the 8525, I haven't been particularly happy with the 8925. Maybe it would be better with newer firmware, but I won't know now unless I replace the screen. I wonder what it's worth for parts......
Mine has never been dropped, but after reading how easy is to break it I'm really concerned...
I have dropped my old 8125 like 10 times and it's still working like the first day...
I just ordered the replacement screen from njbridges today. I'll post after I've received the parts and add my 2 cents. If anybody is going to break something in this replacement process, it will be me. I'm completely inept at using tools. I can barely even change the batteries in my kids' toys.
It costs 142 US dollars for screen replacement in India's service center.
plus servicing charges of 20 US dollars.
If I sell this tytn II as a used piece (after replacing the screen), it will fetch me 300 US dollars.
Why the hell is this screen so expensive.
when will HTC stop looting WM lovers.
there are other screens ive seen cheaper. but sorry i forgot the website =/. go look around google or something.
You'll find them for about $80 on ebay. LCD's have always been expensive, nothing new...
you tried ebay mate?
however, if you do get a screen, do not try and install it yourself, let someone experienced do it as HTC's are difficult to take apart and put together, trust me, i learnt the hide way trying to install a screen on my old Artemis....

Bah, its not that hard!! Just follow the instructions of Mike Channons page, hes got all the service manuals. I've had devices completely to pieces and re-assembled them using those instructions. Its all good as long as you follow them exactly (and have a really tiny torx). You've gotta learn somewhere!
haha i would still have a professional do mine
I need to replace a customer's TYTN II LCD. Another phone shop in my city (Brisbane, Australia) says they can sell me a screen, but they need to know the serial number of the broken screen because apparently, there were 20 different LCDs used in the TYTN range and I have to install a new LCD with the same type of serial number.
Questions:
1. is this correct?
2. I was very close to buying from blackberry8100parts.com but it looks like they only sell within the US. Anyone got them to sell internationally?
I plan on buying the screen from ebay, unless someone can convince me otherwise.
I wouldn't believe 20 different screens, but for many HTC phones (Blueangel, Wizard,..) there were each time 2 different possible screens indeed, not compatible of course. Don't know if it's also the case for the Kaiser.
I managed to splash some water on my Kaiser a couple of weeks ago and that stopped the touchscreen from responding. I sent it away to have the digitizer replaced but that didn't solve it, so the problem is somewhere else. The repair shop suggested that the motherboard would need replacing to get the touchscreen to work again. Apart from that the phone is in excellent condition and working fine, but Opera is no fun without the touchscreen so I've decided to put it on eBay to raise some funds to go towards another one of HTC's fine devices:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160293897460
I thought I'd mention it here since it might be very useful as a spare/test unit for a ROM chef or other developer who would probably use it remotely anyway. I put a very low start price on the listing so it might be a bargain.
(I hope it's okay to post this kind of thing. I couldn't find anything suggesting otherwise in the rules. I apologize profusely if it isn't welcome!)
hi i know that your answer will be a "hell, no!" but i will ask you, would you sell me the front cam of your varioIII? thank you so much
hell, no!
But seriously, I think the phone probably has more value in one piece so I'm not planning to break it up.
it's ok i just asked good luck.
Re
Why selling it at once? You can just replace the touch screen and digitizer for 40 dollars!!! Just because a shop guy said it cant be fixed it is for sale?
I put my tytn in the washingmachine, and everything works as well now, only the display is damaged. I will replace this myself. Will keep you informed!

Well, they did actually try replacing the digitizer and it didn't work, so it seems the problem is somewhere else.
I'd actually really like to buy this for my Mrs.
Hi all,
Today I'm writing this post with a very bad mood!
As I wrote in the title, yesterday due to an unfortunate case, I've destroyed the screen of my TyTN II.
The pda is still working fine but the screen is completely inoperative (see attached picture).
Can some one tell me what to do?
Tray to repair my pda is a good choice or is better to sell it?
Over the internet I've found spare part for self-made repair but they're not very cheap... about 120 euros.
The phone still have 2 year of warranty.
Please... help me in that choice!
Thank you very much!
Ale
The cheapest way, is to buy a screen and replace it your self. I've done also. You can find a screen for about $40 dollars on E-bay. And find a tool set too

Did you?
I have searched on ebay but I didn't find a screen for $40 dollars.
One of the most cheap I've found is for about:
30 euros for the screen
95 euros for the LCD
at least 125 euros ship tax excluded.
If you know a seller or shop where I can find and buy LCD+screen for 40 dollars please send a p.m.
Final note... I live in Italy...

I HOPE SO!
I'm waiting for the seller reply.
I need to be sure that the article I'm going to buy can solve my problem it self because I understand that I have to change the LCD and the TouchScreen but I'm not sure that he sell me boot.
Moreover I'm in Italy and I have to know shipment price and time.
I really need to have back my TyTN II.
Thank you all!

Tutorial video
As most people allready said it's very easy to replace the broken screen with a new one. I could find a replacement screen complete (lcd+digitizer) for 45 euro's on http://www.2dehands.nl but that's a dutch site so i think 120 for a new screen is a lot of money for an replacement screen.
I found a replacement screen for you at this link
I myself replaced a screen according an tutorial video which made it very easy. follow the video step by step and you will do fine. I have set the video online for you and anyone who needs it at YouTube. Anyone who needs the movie at itself please feel free to PM me. I hope you this will do for you.
Cheers

After some year with a "sweet Hermes"...
Probably, in the future, I will another TyTN derived but...
NOW
I'm loving my Kaiser
I would say...
I would say just buy a screen from ebay and replace it yourself.
If anyone needs a screen (or other spare part) I have a tilt where the ribbon cable from the screen to the keyboard went.. Cosmetically the phone is a 9 out of 10 (very sharp) but I have no idea why the cable went.. One day it started having problems reading the sim card unless the phone was slid out and open... 2 days later it wouldnt; read sim cards and the screen would flicker... 2 days later it stopped reading SD cards and now the screen onl works when it is open... wifi & BT still seem to work fine... If interested, PM me an offer... I am located in Milwaukee, WI USA
I need some help please, I have cracked the digitizer on my diamond (O2 ignito), it is still working for now but I'm not sure what to do next.
I could replace it with a new lcd+digitizer ready assembled in a couple of hours for about £38, I have replaced many phone screens before, just never a touch screen, it can't be that hard.
I have insurance for the phone, I could claim on this but this presents a number of other problems. O2 don't list the Ignito any more, if they send me a replacement handset (if they don't just fix it and send it back) what would they send me, the XDA guide (Iolite?) or Zest? neither of these look that as good as my diamond. Also I'd be without a phone for however long this takes. Also I'd probably have to put the phone back to stock (stock ROM and radio and remove hard-SPL) The cost is slightly less about £25 for the excess.
I've got just over 4 months left before an upgrade as well.
What do you think is the best option?
Thanks
i had same problem and was thinking of fixing myself for the cost of a new digitizer on ebay which is £10. For repairs o2 are always out of stock of the ignito it seems i was waiting 3-4weeks for replacement, in end i had to settle with a zest as i needed a phone. i would not recommend the zest at all as mine stopped working after a week and there is not much if not any support for it on here, they would not let me have a xda guide so you would be lucky if you did.
if you claimed off your insurance then they should have new stock of ignito's think a claim cost is £25
after sending my zest back after the week i managed to get my ignito back gd times.
anyway if your lucky they should fix and send your phone back after a few days depending on stock. and the postal strikes hope that helped
Thanks for that.
I think I will claim on the insurance as it sounds like quite a hassle changing the screen myself
It seems they don't carry stock of the diamond any more. They have offered me a xda guide (Iolite/touch cruise2) or some blackberry's (definate no for me).
Has anybody any experience of what the Iolite is like compared to the diamond?
The thing that sticks out the most is the lower resolution QVGA screen.
Thanks
I'm getting a touch pro now, so goodye to the diamond forum, hello raphael forum.
Glad to see Gen Y ROM for raphael
