Thai Version of TD2 - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I want to buy a Touch Diamond 2 for brother in law who is Thai. He wants version that has Thai language.
Does anyone know which region version I should buy.

Normally, there is no any ROM that has Thai!
For Thai ROM is developed by Thai's web forum calls PDAMOBIZ.COM
But, it is still no ROM for Topaz, due to it very new.
However, if your brother in law can use english menu, there are some Thai company that sell Thai software calls ThaiWinCE and Thai-g (for me, now I recomended ThaiWinCE).
That you can buy from them via there homepage.
In the software, there will give you Thai input Keyboard, Thai Regional setting and make your WM phone able to read Thai.

There is also something called korechithai.cab that install thai fonts (and other south-eastern fonts I think) and basic WinMo thai input keyboard (to be used with a stylus, but it is better than nothing). I do not know if it is related to the ones mentioned in previous post (an earlier version maybe?), but afaik it is free, i did found it on Thai WinCE message boards. I installed it on my previous PDA, and re-installed it on my TD2. No compatibility issues, although the cab was for an earlier version of WinMo, it is still working nicely on 6.1 topaz...
It allows me to use free thai-english dictionary (there is also one hanging around, using the MDict engine), I will check during my next trip to thailand if it work for viewing thai characters in SMS in Touchflo and browse thai website...
But as the previous poster said, this will not change the WinMo menus, nor touchflo3D, not any pre-installed apps: those will remain in the language your Topaz came pre-installed with...which, in my case, is a blessing ;-)

Thanks for the replies.
I will try the korechithai.cab on my device later. If it is ok then I will just buy him a UK version.

I installed the korechithai.cab but now both my volume buttons & the call answer button no longer work.
Anyone have this problem & know how to fix it.

Strange, I installed it too and I do not have this problem...Have you soft resetted your TD2?
BTW, after expansion my korechithai gives different cab:
KbdChinese.cab
KbdKorean.cab
KbdThai.cab
korechithai4ppc.cab
SIPChange.cab
I installed korechithai4ppc.cab first (this gave the thai fonts, so I was already able to read thai words in my dictionary after this install)
then KbdThai.cab, this added the thai keyboard (classic WM keyboard format, so stylus-oriented, or can work with fingers...if you have very sharp nails ;-) )
I did not install SIPChange.cab, this one is not compatible with 6.1 (or so it says in the instruction). I think it is intended for deeper change (program shortcuts, maybe some OS messages or menus), things I had no intention to change anyway.
I you have installed SIPChange.cab, I suspect it is the origin of your problem. I would try to uninstall it, and if it does not work, only solution I see is a hard reset, then try the installation of korechithai4ppc.cab then KbdThai.cab only...

Is it possible to tell me where to download korechithai4ppc.cab of better still can you email it to me. I have tried but can't find it anywhere.
The korechithai.cab I downloaded from here http://my.opera.com/cameron_en/blog/2008/02/03/ime-complete-installation-files-download-section does not work properly.

For anyone who's interested I have found a fully compatible version of korenchithai4ppc.cab at this link http://sinocom.ru/index.php?topic=159.msg3006;topicseen as you can see it is in Russian but all you need do is scroll down approx 2/3rds of the thread & the link for rapidshare is there.

Auto Localizer to Far east language for WM2003 or later!

i have finished to creat CAB files to make far east language support in your PPC.
Those make your devices to allow encoding in the Pocket Internet Explore/Inbox,and can select Far east loactions from the "Regional Settings" and also any other Far east language applications can be allowed to be installed and work in your PPC with western language OS.
(not to replace the interfaces of OS to Far east languages)
Still you can use other western languages as before.
Now i made 2 versions for that.
one is to add Only Jpanese support to your devise.
which names [Asukal Lets Japan.cab] 4.4MB
the other is to add Chinese(both of Simple/Traditional) and Japnese support. which named [Asukal e-china.cab] 10MB
*contain the [wince.nls] file(encoding system), and font, and relative registries, but registry will be register automaticaly.
*How to install; DL and copy to your divice this cab, and just tap it.
The installation will be started and to procceed install.
you can down load from here!
http://asukal.seesaa.net/article/1751078.html
@@@You can find those cabs name in the [Remove Programs],
but you can not uninstall it. You have to hard reset to recover to previouse condition. PLS pay attention! and as your own lisk!
Which fonts are you using Asukal? I'm doing similar method as you but I'm using Knife Chinese's fonts which is only 2.xMb in size. And the fonts actually looks pretty good. My Chinese/Japanese nls and font file is less than 4mb in size....
Fonts
i am using Minglu font for the Chinese/Jpanese one.
Yes i knew minglu is very large(8MB) and Sunglobe is smaller than it.
But acturaly, those for my self and japanese guys, and the Sunglobe fonts has japanese chalactor and it was too AGRY for me! i cant stand for using that! (i mean japanese chalactor in Sunglobe) I knew all of Japan Guys same as me, cant love Sunglobe's Kata/Hira Kana.
Thats why i am using Minglu. The Old version of Unisung font for PPC2002 in Knife had very nice Japanese chalactor and very smaller.,but it was bitmap fonts and cant be used in PPC2003.
If you know unicde true type font(CJ font) with nice Japanese chalactor, pls let me know!
hi asukal...
1st, i just want to see (read only) jpnese n chinese character in pocket IE (browsing net) AND in MSN (i have some friend using jpnese character as nick name). is this possible using your cab?? i use xda mini, WM2003SE
im still confuse, will this cab make my english operating system change to japanese? or it will just show chinese n japanese in IE?
2nd, can i use the smaller font? im not japanese so i think as long i can see correct jpnese n chinese character, i will be happy enough. i mean, now i see only unrecognice characters (square boxes). i saw sunglobe and knife font, can i use them with WM2003? if yes, how??
3, why we cannot UNinstall it without have to do hard reset??
thx
re-1st Question
It just make it enable to encode & font link to JP/CN, not change OS to Jpanese or chinese.
the Applications need to encoding are Inbox and IE.
And you can use this cab to do.
re-2nd Question
If you want to use samaller font, yes you can!
but you dont have to use cab file, but use the way of replacing wince.nls file and also change the font registry as you want.
Encoding was controled by the file [wince.nls] in windows folder.
you can download from wince.nls and fonts, also font registry from my site
http://www.asukal.jp/Source.htm
User name ;wince
password: chinese for any files from here.
re:3rd Question
You can delete files which were installed by CAB by manualy.
Or can uninstall from Controle panel---Remove programs,
but after you uninstalled, you have to fix the fnt registry to enable to link another font before soft reset. other wize, the chalactor cant be loaded after soft reset.
So i suggest to hard reset instead to do that. because i cant instruct correctly and afraid friends will be fail it.
Also you can find many kinds of cab files to make localize from my site(addtional new combination cabs)
http://www.geocities.jp/asukal_trader/Localize/localizecab.htm
japanese site but many cabs
http://www.asukal.jp/English/LocalizeCABS.htm (english site, but not so many....no time to update)
Asukal
please! Help me Install japanese character support on my O2 XDA Atom... ...
PS: I install your LetsJapanNo5.zip... great work! But after installing dont work hardware buttons on my Atom. Call/ End Call and etc.
Sorry! My English very bad.
Is there a Japanese, Chinese, Thai combination somewhere for UK phone?
Hi,
Have a look at this post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3188870#post3188870
It discusses also far eastern languages and I am specificly looking for this combination. I am not sure if it is out there somewhere, or if it is possible?
Anyone can advise or redirect me?

Chinese Input, Dictionary, Calendar, Date & Time on Kaiser?

Sorry if i post at the wrong threads.
I'm interested in this htc kaiser at the first glance on it...
However i do have concern whether this device is can solve my need or not.
Most of the time i need somekind of mobile device that can help me on resolving the Chinese matter, Organizer, etc. With this device, i hope i can replace my mobile phone also.
Though pda phone, smartphone, pocket pc has been in the market for years. I'm not familiar with the technology yet.
Maybe i have been asking too much that i even dream i can just write the chinese word using the touch technology, rather than typing the pinyin.
So the question are:
Will this device (more on wm6) have both traditional and simplified chinese input similiar to windows xp?
Is there a traditional and simplified chinese dictionary software for this device?
Is there a chinese lunar calendar organizer software for this device?
Can it show the chinese lunar date & time besides normal universal date & time at the first screen?
I'm having the same kind of question.
I want to edit (or import) my own chinese dictionary table? How is it possible?
I bet you guys never used a Pocket PC or Windows Mobile before, don't you?
There is NO multilingual version of WM ever released. If it's a Eng version, there's only Eng input methods. If it's Chi, then you got very basic Eng input method plus Chi input methods including handwriting regconition.
However, that doesn't mean that you can't change the rom you are using, nor does that mean that you can't use some Chi add on software like CE-star or Monster.
haha... oh... you got me...
does those software come with dictionary to english and vice versa?
how about the lunar calendar, is there any software that you guys happened to know?
what do you means by changing the rom?
perhaps you can take a look on pdaviet.net

That depends very much on OEM. I know dopod china once bundled dictionary programs for their devices. But even if it don't come with one, you can install one yourself.

By changing, I mean flasing the rom in other language, if one is available - of course that depends on quite a few things including if the vendor has locked your machine (CID locked) or if any free unlocker available, etc..
Thanks... thanks for the info...
Try CE-Star or Monster Chinese. These are add-ons to enable Chinese for non-Chinese Windows Devices.
Got it.
Thanks
I cannot recommend CE-Star nor Monster Chinese as they have a lot of problems working with Windows Mobile 6.
Because of that I am still looking for a working solution to be able to view and input Simplified Chinese on my UK Kaiser.
Anyone?

I have to come back to my previous post as I have been testing the latest CE-Star software (v2.8R3A) which I downloaded from the PxDxA from a user named Leies and so far it seems to be working rather nicely.
I uploaded the files to the following directory: CE-Star v2.8R3A
Right now only the Simplified Chinese base pack is uploaded but I'll add the traditional Chinese and other input menu's later on today.
I personally used the following files and can confirm that so far they seem to be working
- System_GBKC.cab
- Pinyin.cab
- Penpower_GBK.cab
- Crack_R3a.cab
First install the "System_GBKC.cab and do not reboot, then install the Pinyin.cab and Penpower_GBK.cab.
After that you must go to Start -> Programs -> CE-Star and run "install" and reboot after that.
After the reboot you can (must?) run "Crack_R3a.cab" and everything will work fine.
I suppose you can add the other input systems like "Jianyi.cab" and "ChaJei.cab" and also the Traditional Chinese base pack in the same way.

Best Chinese dictionaries
Guys, in terms of dictionaries for the Kaiser, have a look at Pleco Dict from Pleco Software. I have been learning Mandarin for a few years and found this piece of dictionary software the best, by miles. It has a huge range of functions and a good selction of dictioniaries.
I've run the current version on my MDA Pro, but note that there is a new version imminent and this includes Chinese-Chinese dictionaries. So for native speakers who might not use the language learning aspects of the current programme, the coming version will offer even more.

Hi Tr1gg3R,
I tried your link and not able to get the files. I have tried Monster Chinese on my AT&T Tilt (HTC 8925 or Tynt II) and yes it creates hell of issues such as:
1. Instant Messaging problem originally came with phone won't work (blank white screen now can't select AIM / MSN / Yahoo Messager to sign on)
2. Any / ALL Java applications won't work.
3. Most settings / menus now in Chinese without way to switch to English such as Google Maps
Uninstalling fixed all. I did eninstalled and they all function again.
I would like to try your CE-Star but the link you had is not doing anything. Help? Thanks.

Maybe you folks can try my rom. WWE w/ Chinese i (hand written)/o support.

Chinese
I have found a program that seems to work nicely with WM6.1 I have a tilt and it works fine. It does not allow for you to imput chinese other than simple, but it will allow you to read chinese. Also I use DR Eye 2.0 dictionary it slows my system down a little bit, but I really need to have some english to chinese dictionary. I do not know how to upload files but if you want them just send me a PM.
Chinese
I have uploaded the files to my 4shared account the link is. This is where you will find the cab file. I have tested this on most 6.1 roms ans seem to have no real lag or probles, but I only use my PDA for simple apps. If you have any problems let me know. Have fun Flashing

Is stable Korean support available?

I'm probably not supposed to start a new thread for this, but I've tried googling and haven't found a viable solution.
Does anyone know of anything that will give me stable Korean support for my TyTN II? I just need the phone to be able to read Korean, don't need writing support. Preferably free.
When I searched the forums, the solutions available all cause a clash with WM6.1 somewhere, for example, Asukal's Korean support either cause the dialer to malfunction and freeze the phone, or it kills Windows Live.
Diopen costs money, and is overkill for what I want. I have no need for writing in Korean. For some reason, it also clashes with Spb PocketPlus. After installing the trial, it would work for a couple of resets, and then cause the phone to be unable to boot.
Note: I'm using Dutty's WM6.1 dated 06 March, 08 and have tried to couple it with each of the three original 6.1 radios.
yes i am also looking for something like this
Korean support
I'm also looking to be able to view Korean.
I found this today about viewing Chinese. I wonder if it's possible to take the same approach for Korean:
I'm not sure about chinese input on smartphones, but here is how to view chinese/asian characters:
1. Find your favorite chinese truetype font and copy it to \windows\. I use mUniFontM and will use it in my examples.
2. Add the following registry string values:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\FontPath\FontPath=\Windows
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink\Segoe Condensed=\Windows\mUniFontM.ttf,mUniFontM
3. Restart.
You'll find a ton of posts on the net about how to do this but they may reference Arial, Times New Roman, etc. The new trick is that for wm6 standard (smartphone), it now uses the font 'Segoe Condensed' so those references to the other fonts will not work on wm6 standard.

I think this is the same method as used by one of Asukal's cabs for Korean reading support.
HangleNo5 replaces the system font, but that causes Windows Live to stop connecting. At least, that's what happens when I try it on my TyTN II.
Why not try diopen 6.0
they give u a few days to try out before it stops working on you. But its only 20bucks for the program.
And it works good. Tried it on my tilt.
Well, as I mentioned in the first post, I'm just looking for the ability to view Korean. Using Diopen is overkill, as it also installs writing support.
But it doesn't matter now, I'm using Asukal's korechithai cab, and it works fine after some experimenting.
I just have to install CE-Star first, and then use CE Star's keyboard, instead of the OEM one. Otherwise, the dialler goes crazy, and using the OEM keyboard always gives me pinyin/romaji.

any program to install Chinese in X1??

hi, i wan to install chinese on X1... wat should i do??
Use google my friend but that will probably bring you back to these forums. You can't change the language in Windows Mobile. You'll need to flash the ROM of your phone, and write the chinese X1 ROM on to it. I'm looking into it myself to, and as far as I know it isn't without risk and it's quite a specific procedure.
Perhaps these topics will get you started:
XPERIA X1 ROMs: All available ROMs and RADIOs
Flash X1 without PC - Micro SD Method
Tutorial: Debranding the X1 / Flashing ROMs
Actually you can install CE-Star on your mobile. That'll get you up and running with Chinese.
CE-Star does indeed can even change the menus of a English ROM into Chinese.
On the topic of the Chinese input and reading only, I use CE-Star to get the reading and fonts. However CE-Star's input method is pretty archaic and IMO doesn't gel with the hardware keyboard very well. For example there is no keyboard short cut to switch between English and Chinese input on the fly (at least none I can find).
After some research on mainland China Sony Ericsson websites comes up PlumSIP to be a very popular input software in mainland China. It uses the "au" key on the hardware keyboard as a toggle between Chinese and English input. You can download it free in on the developer's website below.
http://www.dayhand.com/
I don't know if it'll work without CE-Star, I haven't tired to have PlumSIP without CE-Star. I've both installed and use PlumSIP for input. The other WM Chinese input software ZTA4 (is also good) doesn't work without CE-Star installed to read Chinese.
<EDIT> Ok I double read the Chinese site, and you can use PlumSIP without CE-Star, just add the fonts to display Chinese text. For more info check this thread: http://sebbs.it168.com/thread-1370026-1-2.html
is there anyway i can change chinese interface to english? i search it on the forums and all i got is i need to flash rom on my phone. so,, there is really no other way to do it myself??
where should I save the font on the X1?? I installed the PlumSIP on the X1 but it just shows squares... please help!

SWISS-FRENCH Keyboard layout development

Hi you guy out there!
I recently bought me a Raphael from our beloved Swisscom and guess what: it was crap until I flashed ROMeOS2.
But I was a fool not to backup the entire Windows folder before flashing. I have 2 problems now:
1st I lost TomTom. The maps are still available on storage card but the installation has gone an no cab file to restore it :-(
2nd I'm stuck on an French AZERTY keyboard! To solve this I beg you:
Backup all language files on your Raphael before flashing and send it to me via e-mail so that my task to cook us a Swiss-French keyboard would be much easier!
The important files are, I think, the PQwertyxxxxxx.txt located in Windows folder. But the best, in oder do fix both the problems would be to backup the entire Windows folder.
PM me or reply to this thread it you are interested in helping or send me mails!
Here is what I have so far:
http://www.modaco.com/content/smart...obile-smartphone-internationalization-issues/
Every help is very welcome!
I have more or lesse the same problem, but I would need the swiss-german keyboard. Especially the settings to get the hardware keyboard working with äöü and éàè etc. would be nice.
About TomTom. You can get the installation cab for TomTom from the extended cab collection for ROMeOS2 from Monx here
http://monx.aplace4u.biz/ROMeOS2RAPHAEL/GER/EXTENDED/
This is listed under the german version, but I think it's multilanguage. Got it to work with the maps that were still on my SD card after flashing from swisscom to ROMeOS2 rom.
All right, sounds interesting. I Know that swiss-german keyboards are quite similar to swiss-french. The only difference is in fact this damn éàè and öäü.
Do you know any one who hasn'f flashed his Raphael yet? I basicly don't want to start on an empty base. As I said I'd like to have the PQwertyxxxxxx.txt files to modify...
Have you been on poketpc.ch forum and checked there for solutions? There are many German speaking guys how use Romeos. I don't have many time this month to do research.
Many thanks for le TomTom cab link, I'll check this out soon and keep you updated.
[edit]: TomTom Install worked great. It is multilingual indeed. Thanx noigear!

If you're talking about the Hardware Keyboard, you can change it easily to any map you like. To do that, using a registry editor, navigate to HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD change th value of CurLang to 2055 for CH-DE
For any other keyboard mapping referr to http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/r...p/xp-lcid.mspx and get the value listed for the desired language.
Don't forget to softreboot and you're done.
Hope this helps
And what about remaping not full keyboard layot but some buttons in any stations? (With Fn or Shift pressed).
Are Hardware Keyboard is sensible to PQwertyxxxxxx.txt files, or this mapping info is only for touch screen layot?
Owww god damned, I don't beleve it, the solution is sooooo simple (Sorry for my swearing, it's just emotional, lol)
Thank you a lot bluenote77 for this advise.
Unfortunately for vip77, I do not care at all for the touch screen keyboard so i'm not gonna spend more time as necessary to find an answer to the question. May be on my next vacation...
The absolut luxury at the moment would be if you guys knew a tweak for the SMS/MMS button on the keyboard, to call the SMS application by default...
Mr. HD, I'm talking about hardware keyboard, not screen virtual.
I want to remap digits from 1-9 in not english layout, because input of digits avilible only in english layot and not avilible in other language layot.
It's not useful.
@VIP77
All right, in that case, you might be able o perform a remap within the PQwertyxxxxxx.txt files. But I didnt figure out how they work and what kind of data (HEX or ALPHA) they contain.
I'm alway glad to have inputs about that.
Chears
Mr. HD thank you for this information. I spend alot time to find solution for this issue. My primary language is Russian, so every user of HTC TP have this issue. Also we can't input "." symbol. "Trick" is switching layot every time, when i need input digit or dot. It's owful.
Some peoples made new firmware, that have this fix, but they don't want talk about solution. And i don't want go to this version for some reason. I was trying change KbdNopAll.dll to new, from this firmware, but digit input disapiared from all layots.
So i have opinion, that some files or dll's may contaion addition info, not only KbdNopAll.dll driver.
Also i find program, that scan codes and can remap them from buttons and they have similar form. Like codes from PQwertyxxxxxx.txt
It's called AEKeyboard Mapper.

Problem - this software scan codes only in english layot. In russian on all keypresses returning only one code.
So i think I can scan button codes, find them in PQwertyxxxxxx.txt files and change or alias.
Something like this )
