So, after looking at my bill for last month... and the fact that my captivate dies within 1 day. (Actually yesterday, i went to a concert... for 12 hours, it died twice...). So here is my question.
How do i limit when and which each app fetches data from the internet? The way i see it, when an app has to do that, it uses data and battery... and its almost every 10 minutes or so.
The current apps in using that use data are :
AppBrain
Appsfire
Catch
Clock (the weather thing inside must use some data...)
FancyWidget (Also has weather in it...)
CNET News
Engadget
Evernote
Facebook
FMyLife Official
Game Time
Gmail
Market
My Account (A rogers tool to check your usage)
Plse
Twitter
Youtube
Those are all the apps i use. is there anyway i can limit them to refreshing every hour? or when i open these apps?
Thanks

Download "Super Power" from market. Set it to disable data, and set a schedule to allow data for 5-10 mins every hour. That should solve ur issue.
Alternate is to go into each app and set up its sync settings to match what u want.
Thanks
gonna give it a shot
hi this is my first post.
just bought a used 8.9 att tab. right now i'm using wifi, but planning to get att sim prepaid data plan for domestic and my international trip. i know there are alot of apps running in the background like the accu weather apps. those constantly pull data, correct? my question is how do i stop them from pulling data? i just want to used my tablet and save as much as data as possible and i only want to use it when i need it like surfing the web, checking weather when i need it. do i kill those apps running in the background and how do i kill it? what other apps are pulling in data beside the accu weather map, the standard apps that came on my 8.9 honeycomb os.
or should i just disconnect my 3g connection when i'm not in used and just turn on wifi instead? and then turn on my 3g when need it? i'm planning to get the cheapest plan which is 250 MB for $15/month prepaid.
You will probably have to check settings of each and every app you have, to reduce the frequency of background updates, and perhaps to set them up to only download on WiFi connection. Not all apps provide such flexibility. I know I removed a few apps (from my phone) because they didn't allow to save data traffic.
I recommend you install an app that tracks and reports your mobile data PER APPLICATION.
I use RadioOpt Traffic Monitor for that, on my phone.

installed this apps today and ran the apps with my wifi. holy crap. just today briefing turning on my 8.9 for about 4 hours and light surfing on my dolphin browser, it has 189 MB!
here are some of the breakdowns:
total traffic: 189 MB
system traffic: 147 MB
dolphin browser: 20 MB
and other misc. running apps in that didn't took much data.
my question is majority of it is from system traffic. what is system traffic? how do i stop it running? if i plan to get the cheapest att data plan for my 8.9 which is 250 MB, it wouldn't even last a day!
any1 here subscribe to att with their tab and how do you cut on the data you use on your tab with your att data plan? thx in advance.
Hey guys. So I was going through my data usage to see if I was nearing my maximum, and G+ seems to be destroying every other app when it comes to data usage, the overwhelming majority of it being in the background.
Auto-Upload / Auto Backup / Picasa are all DISABLED
Does anybody know what the culprit of this problem could be? Thanks.
Hello guys, why is RAM usage is very high on our Moto. The firmware is set to be close to AOSP but with no apps running in the background it consumes around 550+ mb. everyone facing it ?

My thoughts exactly. I think its because of some of the built-in apps ie gmail, email, chrome, google play books, games and motorola's own apps etc . These stock apps cant be deleted without rooting, which is what I'am waiting for in moto G.
My previous xperia c phone too had very high ram usage initially, until I deleted the apps . After removing, I always had 550 or 500 MB free ram no matter what I did. And it was running on 4.2
Yes.. I have installed some apps. If I root it then we may get more free ram...

Have you tried deleting some of motorola's stock apps ?? Or if you dont need push emails, why dont you try deleting emails, gmails, google+, google drive etc ?
catch my drift?
why are you using task manager? Try seeing the ram usage in running apps in ''Apps'' section
nice
nice information has been useful to have been.
under settings > data usage. i only see monthly data limit, no daily data limit. anyone knows how i can achieve this ?. i don't mind using 3rd party apps
