[Q] Greenscreen Issue Clarification - Touch HD Windows Mobile ROM Development

Ok guys... at the risk of sounding like a noob, I'm seeking some clarification on the Greenscreen issue in relation to my experience this morning...
New Oz Telstra Touch HD (SPL 1.15) received last night... downloaded latest EnergyROM this morning and used latest USPL (2.5) to flash ROM (via Windows Seven x64 with reverted drivers).
I wasn't expecting to see the greenscreen issue but alas it booted with ugly g/screen... I just turned off the screen and did a little research, got confused, turned screen back on and all was good (colour had returned to normal).
It appears that the colour is only screwed up during the boot cycle... once finished everything returns to normal.
So, what I'm asking is can someone advise me what I've done wrong and how I rectify the g/screen... I don't wish to use HSPL and I'd prefer to keep the original SPL if possible.
I couldn't find what ROM version the EnergyRom is - maybe that's where I've come unstuck??
Your help is always appreciated,
Cheers...

Well I gave up on using USPL and flashed the latest HSPL and all appears ok at this stage (at least no further g/screen).
Hope this helps another Telstra HD user...

I think it was because you went straight from 1.15 to a 1.54+ ROM, and because you used USPL it didn't update your SPL.
By using HSPL the SPL was obviously updated to a newer version, if you want to use USPL I advise updating to an official 1.54+ ROM and then flash to a custom ROM.

I'd say you're right... I wanted to use USPL primarily for warranty purposes but I'm not sure what the implications are for flashing a later official SPL with the Telstra THD anyway so I figured I'd just bite the bullet and use HSPL (and hope that if I need warranty I can still access the bootloader to revert to stock!!)
Any Oz Telstra users out there who know if using a stock SPL other than Telstra can void warranty?

ive got a telstra HD, u cannot use the original SPL on new roms whether they are wm6.1 or wm6.5. this will give you the green screen issue and no reception (ie your radio is disabled)
flashing a newer SPL will void your warranty as there isnt one available from telstra. flashing HSPL will also void it. double edged sword really.

Crackwhores guide to flashing 1.56+ roms is a sticky at the top of this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377
Any different SPL or ROM will be used as an excuse to void your warranty. If there was an issue I'm sure you could fight it in a court, but at the end of the day it would be many times cheaper to pay for repairs or get a new phone if they wouldn't fix it under warranty.

Trying not to void Warranty

I gotta return my touch hd for repair (Wifi and camera are not working). I do not want any surprises when it comes to the warranty, so could someone please tell me what spl should be on my device if I have flashed the latest official rom from HTC. I currently have 1.54 that I manually added when I flashed the 1.56+ roms from this site. Can HTC tell that I manually put it on my touch hd versus their software flashing utility? Thanks

As long as you have official HTC rom on device (no matter when released) and don't have HSPL or cooked rom, you are fine to return device and not void warranty
I am facing the same problem also, the thing is after the spl, for some rom the start up screen will looked lees color, or funny.
I there any way to revert to the original spl?
yes sounds like you need to revert to stock spl 1.14.0000

At the bottom of the thread is a section on how to revert to stock SPL.

reconstructed at&t tilt 2 stock shipped rom for warranty return or cooking

i have reconstructed the stock at&t tilt 2 stock rom - including 0.87 spl, 4.48 radio, splash screen, and 21849 os
this is created in old rom kitchen and can be used for cooking
the main reason i did this is to offer at&t users the factory rom for warranty return reasons.
the rom can be found here: http://mobilitydigest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2113
for those who need this here you go
Great, thanks for this.. do you have just the 4.48 Radio (NBH or EXE)? Thanks

That would be very much appreciated Herg.
I'm already HardSPL (security) unlocked as well as SIM unlocked. I assume if I load this I will remain SIM unlocked, but my SPL will be security locked again?
Thanks!
Thanks!!!!
Awesome job, Thanks so much. I usually don't flash a new device untill I have the stock ROM on hand but I couldn't wait. I knew someone would get this done for us.

if you secruity and hard spl unlocked your device than both will still be unlocked after you flash this rom as well
So does this also carry over the proper keyboard as well? So that if I flash this ROM, it's basically like it's the exact same as if I had just bought a brand new Tilt2?

this rom has everything in it that the stock rom that came on the device.
i didn't modify nothing, all i did was take the stock spl, stock radio, stock splash screen, and stock os and package it up
i didn't remove or add anything into it other than what came stock on the tilt 2
Thanks for all your hardwork.
If I restored to this ROM and then want to use a custom ROM later would I have to do the whole hardSPL thing again?
Great work Herg! This is exactly what many of us needed.
i needed it as well and since the actual rom wasn't released something needed to be done.....da_g gave some of the important files like radio, and spl so lets not forget him cause this was a joint effort to build

That's actually one of the open questions on some of the other threads. Someone had to flash his back for a warranty return and reported that the SPL did not change back to 0.87 as expected. I've got an open request/PM with cmonex as they were going to try and post a properly signed 0.87 SPL only for warranty restoration but it looks as if they haven't gotten around to it yet...
BUT to answer the question, I believe that once you restore the SPL to a warranty version (be it 0.84 or 0.87) I think you do have to run HardSPL again if you want to put cooked ROMs on the phone.
herg, da_G, or others -- do you know if there was a specific way to restore the SPL using this image since it's packed in? I thought I remember someone saying that they tried the following sequence on an older phone (not sure if it would work on the Tilt2 since it does involve going to a previous stock SPL):
1. Flash the warranty ROM to the phone (i.e. the one herg posted)
2. Flash one of the other warranty SPLs (maybe 0.84?)
3. Flash the same ROM in #1 one more time (then the SPL should be correct)
Again, as I mentioned, I am not sure if it will work since after step #2, technically you would be off of the HardSPL and I am not sure if you would be able to flash again in step #3 since the ROM is not an official ATT signed one.
even though this is a reconstructed stock rom......it is treated like a cooked rom
the only difference is this contains all the pieces to create it (spl, radio, splash, and os)

So this means that the 3 step process I just posted above probably won't work, since after step #2 you would not be able to reflash the ROM since it is technically a cooked one as well.
Herg, Been following your work here and on Mobility Digest, I've been waiting for a stock rom before I flash my T2. Have you had any luck on the 4.48.25.20 radio (exe or nbh) yet. I'd like to try one of the other radios but want the stock one too.
Yeah, the SPL needs to be signed in order to be flashable. Either signed with the olinex cert to flash against the HSPL, or signed with the HTC cert to flash against the stock SPL.
I could upload the full .nbh of the test ROM, it would be signed with the HTC certs and may be accepted by the stock SPL (but it might be signed with a seperate test cert, too)
Wish I had gotten the stock ROM by now, but it's proving to be elusive
I want to return my phone to ATT not for the warranty reasons but because i am getting a better deal at some other retailer. so can i use this rom for the same purpose ?

Flashing Back to Stock ROM

can anyone give me a step by step on how to flash my ROM back to STOCK?
if you want it for warranty reasons then you will need to flash the SPL also to stock. you can just download the latest ROM from HTC website and flash it. it will give you the stock ROM on the existing SPL.
End of the post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2710548&postcount=1.
Remember you will also need to go back to stock spl if for warranty purposes.
i have another problem, when in bootloader it wont change from serial to usb but was a week ago

I've kinda got thesame question. I flashed a stock rom (latest EU rom from HTC site), then stock SPL (1.14) and then the stock rom again. Is this enough to be able to claim warranty without HTC finding out about custom roms/boatloaders?
Thanks

That depends. What was your original rom and spl? Are you entitled (via location) to use the new EU rom, eg if you live in America then this may not be acceptable to HTC.
When you boot up the new rom, are the screen colours ok as this will tell you if you have the right spl for your rom? If you have the latest EU rom, I doubt that 1.14 spl would be the right one, but it could be I guess. With the stock rom, you should also get the stock radio. So provided you have the stock rom available to your area, with the correct matching spl and the radio, there is no way to tell of your exploits
Thanks for your reply
The problem is that the screen of my device won't turn on anymore (Device powers on, I can connect with activesync, digitizer works fine) so i have no way of checking if I have the right SPL or not...
I also have no idea what my stock rom/spl/radio version was.. I live in the Netherlands, and through the official HTC site i flashed the latest rom, which included a radio (a radio version was part of the filename). What I'm trying to find out is:
Could 1.14 have been my stock SPL, or was that version never used on any Dutch Blackstone?
If the spl doesn't match the rom (wrong colours) that isn't much of a problem; I can tell them I tried to update my rom because I thought maybe my screen would work again after I installed the latest ROM... But if I have a SPL that was never even used I don't think they will buy that
According to the wiki there are 2 Dutch roms - one would require a 1.14.0000 spl and the other a 1.54.0000 spl. So I guess either of those would do.
When you flashed the rom from the website, where you still using hspl or uspl? Depending on the rom you flashed you will need to flash the matching spl. Do you have the full notation/naming of the rom you flashed. This should give an indication of which spl you will need.
As much as I appreciate ClydeB1 for assisting you, I fail to see a reason for this thread. A thread already exists for flashing advice, i.e. the dummies guide. Also the HardSPL thread exists and has advice on how to flash back to stock. So depending on your query post in either of these.
The initial query and reason this thread was created has been answered, so no need for this thread to remain open. Thread closed

Stock Tilt 2 SPL

I can't seem to find which SPL comes with the tilt 2. I semi-bricked my phone and I need to flash the stock one back before going to ATT. Right now I flashed back the .87 SPL. Can anyone help?
It doesn't really matter. All Stock SPLs are the same as far as manufacturers are concerned, so long as it doesn't say OliNex I don't think anyone will check.
You could always flash the Shipped Exe from your supplier over the current .87 stock SPL.
Any more problems, please ask in the Hard SPL or ROM flashing thread.

Dave

Recovering to stock SPL

Hi there,
I want to recover my device to the stock SPL. I have tried to download the stock ROM from the HTC site but it says "Sorry this software is not suitable for the device." Is every WWE ROM the same? If so can I use a WWE ROM from any region?
Thanks
Hey,
What is your device model? It should look like "DIAM100", a 7 letter code. You can see it by removing the battery and looking somewhere near the type.
If you have a DIAM110, then you're pretty much screwed as HTC provides no ROMs for them. You might be able to find the original ROM somewhere here, but I'd be careful or you might end up like me - during the restore of my original ROM I got a "corrupted" error and am now stuck in a stalemate.
If you have warranty though, I would look for your original SPL (hopefully you recorded the version). For DIAM110 it was 1.93. Just make sure you DO NOT restore the SPL until everything else works well. If you screw up your OS and you have the stock SPL installed then you're stuck.
~codeslicer
My one is a DIAM100 and I'm running Olinex 1.40 unsigned with SatusROM 2.6. My original SPL is 1.93.
That is strange. So you went to the HTC Worldwide website and chose Touch Diamond? It should work... anyways I've seen a Hong Kong stock ROM here somewhere. But you can try checking here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Diamond_Upgrades. If you need to return it for warranty though, you need to find the original SPL (hopefully you remember version). To install SPL, you need to use Jump SPL (on this site).
