Close Opera? - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I try to close Opera, but its still active even after i press the X button. When i check the taskmanager its empty and there is no opera in there. But as soon as i press the open webbrowser button, opera will open up in the same exact mode as I left it. As if it was never closed.
How can I fix it, in other words, make it like Diamond, where it will close down when you press X.

open Opera's menu and select exit

Messaging hardware button not working (MDA)

The Messaging hardware button on my MDA Vario III is not working properly. When I press it, sometimes the top task bar shows "messaging" for a second, then disappears and the app does not start. Sometimes when I press it again, the messaging app starts after all, sometimes it does not. The strange thing is, that when I attach another prog to the button, it works flawlessly. I think that is is a software/registry issue, since this started after I installed AEBPlus. I deleted AEBPlus, but this has not helped. The only difference that I see in the registry is the first value, BTNWND. it has the value 2080975920, where all other keys have 0. I tried resetting it with PHM regedit, and it stuck for a few minutes, but after a while it resets to the old value again.
Does anyone know how to fix this? The registry key I am talking about is HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Keys/40C2.
I had a similar problem with my hermes on the original WM5 orange rom... but only if I had lots of apps open.
I would suggest that you experience this problem when you have left lots of programs running in the background.
Thanks, but I have no other apps running in the background. I have HTX X-button configured to close an app when I hit x. Strange thing is that the x-button does not close messaging when I hit x. I installed Pocket Plus and that x-button does close the messaging app.edit: SPB Pocket Plus, like HTC X-button, does not close the app properly, although it is not in the exclusions list. I have to kill it manually in the memeory/taskmanager app.
I played around a bit and noticed that the app is opened almost instantly when I go into settings-buttons, assign another app (Bubble breaker) to the button, then I close the button settings and the other app pops-up the second I hit the button. Then I go back to button settings, assign messaging to the button and when I press the button, I have the problem appearing again. It works this way till a soft reset. After the reset, the button does not work at all, untill I first assign another app to the button and then re-assign the button to messaging. Very strange behaviour. Can someone perhaps post the values in their registry ( the key is HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Keys/40C2). My value there differs with every soft reset, but is always something like 2080960048. When I set it to 0, the app opens instantly when I press the button, but for some reason after a while it resets to a value like 2080960521.

close all tasks / battery

hi all,
pocketCM is a nice software, but I did not find any button to end it.
Same with other applications. It's tiring to go to the task manager and
close one by one.
Has anyone a clue of a tweak or a little proggy that can be assigned
to a button (preferred the red phone button) to close all runings tasks?
rgds
wkm1
press and hold the bottom right corner in pocketCM, slide your finger to the left under the X when the menu pops up (dont lift your finger before you slide or it will just minimize it).
and you can set the "X" to actually close the program when you tap the X or close them by tapping and holding X in the task manager settings. also, from the today screen you can tap the task manager (its in the space where the X would normally be) and it will show you a list of running programs. it gives you the option to end them individually or stop all.

Wisbar Advance on the AT&T Tilt

Got a question about Wisbar Advance 3 on the AT&T Tilt.
I've noticed there is something odd in the performance of the cascading Start menu function.
When I click on the start button icon on the screen, the cascading start menu works great.
When I press on the silver start menu "hard button" on the device, the traditional start menu comes up, like when Wisbar isn't running.
When I slide the phone open, and click the start menu "hard button" on the keyboard, the Wisbar cascading start menu works, just like if I had clicked on the start button on the screen.
1. Has anyone else encountered this?
2. Is there a way to get the silver start menu "hard button" to function just like the start menu "hard button" on the slide out keyboard?
Thanks in advance
i believe there is a setting in Wisebar adv to change this so when you click the windows button it will open the cascading menus. If no one confirms this, Ill load it on my phone tonight and double check

Click to collapse
I found that setting, and mine is clicked.
I think the Windows button on the slide out keyboard is mapped differently than the Windows button on the front of the phone.
You are correct. I found this rather annoying, until I downloaded AEButton plus and remapped the key. Handy for lots of things but use with caution!
Just go to Start->Settings->Buttons and remap your Start button to the Cascading Start.
I tried that. When I do that, the button brings up the cascading start menu, then closes immediately. sometimes it does it so fast, you can't see the menu even pop open.

Task Manager Suggestions?

I'm looking for a task manager that I can launch with a hard button with the help of AEButton,
in which I can scroll though my open programs using the scroller not the touch screen and close each in turn or close all.
I've tried a lot and they all either;
- They dont have the facility to use the buttons as a scroller, touch only.
- They cant be launched to open using a hardware button, as in the program launches but all I get is the little cross, dot button appear in the top right of my today screen, not actually open the task manager.
- Or they dont have the facility to close all apps.
there must be a simple little program that does this, and im starting to feel like i've tried them all...
I can distantly remember using a version on RomEOS 1.2.1 but cant find any reference to it, it allowied me to 'check' each program and close them, and launched as an actual program, rather than enabling a cross on my today screen. And it wasn;t HTC Taskmanager.
Any suggestions you lovely people? I think one handed PPC use is they way to go and this is frustraiting me.
Install SPB Pocket Plus
Soft reset
Go to Settings-Buttons
Assign "Alt-Tab" on any button you want.
Press button, see all open prg's and scroll with the wheel to the one you want, press wheel and you are there.
Hi,
ever tried WkTask (freeware) ?
Quickmenu does the trick for me. Much better than WKTask. Also freeware. X button closes the app, gives a PC feel to menus and you don't ever have to use stylus.
Thanks for the replies
tried both WKTask and Quickmenu, but evenually settles on HandySwitcher, turned out to be a bonus that you can customise the colours, since i have a white background and couldn't read the white text on the menu.
Success!
Why wouldn't you use the task switching part of phoneAlarm?
You can set the default function to the switcher and be managing open tesks with 2 button pushes.
I second Quickmenu. Once you click the exe once it'll auto start after soft resets. Goto the settings and customize the startmenu the way you want. I set mine up to have Running programs first and that set to be shown as submenu and then it allows you the close one or close all feature, quickmenu popout second, then a break and then program, settings, and office folders all set to submenus and then my regular programs as links below. I can control it all with my finger or with the jog dial. Retains your windows TSK theme and if you set it to replace windows start menu it is like the other never existed. Excellent program and very lightweight. To fix the text issue I use UI Tweaker. Also helps me match the color to my TSK better. Just my personal preference.

[Q] how to close the stock browser?

Sorry for this noob question. The only way to exit from the stock browser is by pressing the back button as many times as possible?
seems that way dude. what i do is just press home until the task switcher appears and then task manager and then kill it from there.
If you want you can go to the market and install TaskSwitcher. Press home, and it brings up a list of currently open applications, from anywhere. Long press to kill the selected app.
Though I don't use that feature very much, I'd rather Android do it.
Regards
Press the home button then open the task manager and stop the application
thanks to all
